It was my first time here and I was impressed with the number of different types of wood here.Overall the service here was great and the prices are high but not compare with anyone else just saying.They have a parking lot but it’s not that big so you should take that into consideration.They also have a food truck which I saved on my list because I’m definitely having one of their hot dogs soon!

Shell Lumber is THE BEST. They have EVERYTHING, even what you didn’t know you needed. Everyone is super knowledgeable, and eager and happy to help! Guillermo, Matthew in paint, super patient and helpful. And I was stopped several times between departments, to ask if I needed assistance. All with smiles too!!!

I will NOT bring my business here again! I took my lumber to the counter, it was cataloged, red oak, ipe, was measured and I paid as asked. I proceeded out, was stopped at the front, the gentleman took my pink sheet and immediately said the measurements were all wrong. I have to go back. Youre going to pay more. Say what??? Ive bought thousands of dollars worth of wood every year at Shell as part of my business and have never, ever seen something like this. I would not send one of my clients back to go through the process all over again over a few dollars. So they called the manager. The manager said, you shouldnt have to place this on the customer. I agreed. I went through the process again about 15 minutes in, and was actually charged $34 more. All of that over 34 bucks. Youve got to be kidding. Told them you just lost a loyal customer. They did NOT care. As a business owner, I would have seen the error, allowed the client to leave, and corrected the mistake with a new process and eduction for the employees involved, transparent to the customer. I will pay what something is worth and understand mistakes, but I do not place an unnecessary burden on my clients over nickels and dimes. They made me feel like I was just one little customer among thousands. They have so many. What do they care. Just shrugged their shoulders. So Im shrugging mine. Ill be taking my business elsewhere...

First time out of state buyer using their site to place an order. Not only did they have the part I needed but they also had the fastest shipping time and the lowest price. Definitely recommend and I’ll be using them again.

As other people have said on here everything needed has always been in stock it’s a nice hardware store open to all that walk in and helpful when needed, they also allow you to browse on your own if asked and many times have free popcorn and candies, or atleast they did when I was a kid. Worse company to order through them online. Ordered cloró e tablets paid in advance with credit card. Received several email delaying the order for over a week then finally received a last email that order was canceled. They had charged me without making sure the item was in their Wearhouse…sorta flip and hope for the best kinda way to do business. They held my funds for over two weeks.This would have been my first time ordering and will defiantly be my last. People here to care about you in the very least.

I remember going here with my Dad over 40 years ago. He would always go to buy screws and nuts and etc. I remember he liked it because you can buy the exact amount you wanted. You didnt have to buy a huge box of nails when you only needed a few. I havent been in there for years, but just like my Dad I needed 4 license plate screws. Sure enough they had 3 little drawers titled license plate screws. Matched them to my old ones and you bag and tag your own. Friendly and small. You get in and you get out quickly. Plenty of staff to help you. Way better than Home Depot.

My husband and I have shopped there for years but has noticed a definite decline in customer service since ownership changed. He asked at the counter today if there was a board in stock and the rep basically said to go check the stock before coming to ask him (which he did and didn’t find it) and that my husband should’ve known better than to ask.

They did a price match for me. No problems just show them the item and they match it.

Great place to shop for garden supplies. Ask for Ron - the garden & plant expert! Good selection of butterfly plants & milkweed. They have a nice variety of herbs, cactus, trees & vines (bougainville/passion flower/bleeding heart). Also, they carry a few rare plants like Angels trumpet (brugmansia). Definitely worth the trip!

They advertised one thing and and mailed another cheap substitute greatly overpriced, if you thinking order online from them DO NOT and go elsewhere

This place has everything! I learned that clear pine and yellow pine only differ in that clear pine has no knots in the wood. They have a plainer in the back so you can order planks to be plained down to a specific height or thickness. The showroom also has a ton of finishing products that are useful.

I was searching for wood slats for a diy project. I didn’t quite knew what type of wood would be best to use until I met Ibraham vaca, who help me find the right wood slat. He was very helpful and courteous. I had a good experience at this location because of his great customer service.

This store has everything imaginable! Of course they have a huge selection of lumber. They have all kinds of hardware and tools on one side and then on the other side they have an area where you can pick out Hardware Cabinetry and doors for your home. Staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. The prices are reasonable. If you live in Coconut Grove skip the Home Depot and go here instead.

I purchased 8 closet doors (cost 853.00)from Shell Lumber in Miami FL on 3/2 which my client decided he didn’t want. The very same day I called and spoke to the sales rep WHO SAID a restocking fee of 25% will be charged and the balance would be refunded. BTW the doors never left Shell Lumber’s warehouse and is still in their possession. Today 3/8 I spoke with Shell Lumber after the agreement and was then told that I would NOT be refunded any cash...instead, they told me that I would have to take the doors. A *No refund on purchases* was NOT mentioned prior to payment... This is absolutely unacceptable and POOR customer service. Shell Lumber reneged on their verbal agreement and offered no other possible resolve. I will be taking this issue to small claims court.

This is the most incredible hardware store Ive seen in a long time. They have absolutely everything. The most uncommon parts pieces and fittings. Additionally, the place is staffed to the maximum. You never need to look more than a couple of feet to find a friendly helpful staff member with all of the answers to your questions. Im super impressed, and as somebody from out of town, I am very thankful to have found Shell lumber

Extraordinary place for inventory and service. I needed an obscure special order plumbing fitting. Ronnie knew instantly who the supplier was and worked tirelessly with Jamie P to execute the order. I really appreciated their efforts. Needless to say, its obvious why Shell Lumber Miami have a great reputation.

I had a horrible experience in this place. Initially called and spoke with Kureem who advised me that they had over 300 pieces in stock. I then proceeded to ask if they price matched Florida lumber. They transferred me to sales and a lady was very nice to say that yes they did as long as I brought an invoice from Florida lumber. I then called Florida lumber and got an invoice from them so that I could show them for them to price match. When I arrived to the place After driving over an hour, they only had about 70 pieces. On top of this, when I ask about the price match, Kareem told me that they only price match local Home Depots, not Florida lumber. I requested a manager and I got Lucas, who seemed very understanding yet he did do one thing to help me. He offer delivery, but I have driven over an hour with a rent a truck and delivery was not an option for me. They definitely need to retrain the personnel to not be providing false information over the phone and also managers need to be a little bit more understanding and show initiative as to how to resolve the problem for future references.I do not recommend this place to anybody. I should have stuck to Florida lumber,Which I do recommend to everybody.

Bought twenty-three (23) 2x10 wood planks#1 to replace rotted wood beams. Some planks bought where bent making leveling a challenge and one had a split. The sales rep said that what they had and that is what we would get. This experience has compelled me to look for other lumber yard alternatives.

I called last week and after two dropped calls and a very long wait Robert took my call and promised to call me back for my special order. When he didnt return the call I spoke with Claudia and she promised to call me after the weekend when she could see about my wood casing order. She never called back either. I guess business is very good these days.

Had 2 young HIspanic guys that were so helpful in assisting us with 6 sheets of plywood and delivering it to our truck! So polite, kind and great customer service with a smile! Thank you so much!!

I was looking for a Kitchen Faucet Sprayer. They guy first gave me the one for the shower. Then when I remarked that it was for the kitchen ( I had the old one with me ) he said : I’M A PLUMBER SINCE 20 YEARS AND I KNOW ABOUT IT. THEY CHANGE MODEL EVERY 6 MONTHS AND NOW THEY ARE NOT PRODUCING IT ANYMORE. YOU HAVE TO BUY THE NEW SINK TAP!!! That’s crazy!!!! Don’t listen to this guy. By the way I found in Amazon for $12!!!! Ah ah ah that’s crazy

I had placed an online order and upon arrival product was damaged unusable. The item appeared to be dropped before being placed in the shipping container. Write their support right away, followed up the next week. Still have not had any response. Better to avoid ordering from them.Update to 4 stars.The support followed up with me and are supposedly going to do a refund on the damaged item. They are currently out of stock of the item that was damaged

I was introduced to Shell from a famous marine carpenter named Olaf 30 yrs back, now back in Norway.I own a Trawler and always need something. including teak.This particular time, i was in need of teak trim in the lumber department.I first encountered a few associates looking to help and one that overheard the conversation, and quickly stated No cuts for wood not purchased here.I never intended not to purchase the wood at Shell or not pay for the valuble service cuts.I do recall this associate from a previous encounter inwhich i called out for his negative attitude that time.Thankfully a top notch rep by the name of Kureem showed up, and asked if he could help whereas he looked at my pics, measurements, and with a bit more questions and thought, he communicated his plan to me for approval.The final part was myself purchasing $172 worth of product including the much appreciated cuts.So, i give Kureem 5 stars ! for knowledge, and supreme customer service, where everyone is happy !PS, credit to Diane sales associate aswell, as Caroline a cashier.We discussed the Neoprene masks, where both associates input was valuble.I purchased two more masks..

I have been going to SL since 2007 and lately the service has been wanting to say the least. The attitude and demeanor of the staff is oftentimes belittling if you use the wrong technical word or if you are not an expert in what you are looking for - defeating the point of customer service. In the lumber section there are often 15-20 staff members running around and non of them is concerned of helping you. If you are lucky enough of getting assistance it is often quick, thoughtless, and detached. This was not so a few years ago.Overall it seems that the staff is untrained and unwilling to go the extra mile to assist a customer. For this sorts of poor service I might as well go to HD of Calle 8; where incompetence and chaos reign supreme.Very sad, but I will have to look for an alternative for my project.

When going to this chaotic place you really need to be off and have plenty of time. Also, please arm yourself with patience so you will not lose your temper when dealing with the employees. I went to this place on 2 separate occasions to custom cut a couple of pieces of wood which I brought from elsewhere, a service they provide.... suffice to say the second time I just had to leave and get my money back. These guys are simply not efficient.

True hardware store with decent lumber collection

I was in search of a whole tree trunk for a project. I asked a few people from different departments and ever single one of them were very interested and very caring to help me. At the end of our search, they didnt have exactly what I needed however, they provided me with a ton of creative ideas of how and where I might find my extremely odd request. I couldnt help myself in grabing a bag of their free popcorn. Loved the place and all of their merchandise. Thank you again, very much.

Shell Lumber is a Miami or Coconut Grove landmark. This store has been at the same location since 1920s.My grandparents shopped here and I would come here with my parents. I worked at Shell Lumber for two years in the mid 70s before joining the Army.I stopped in earlier today to buy some different things and the store is very impressive.All the shelves are stocked at full capacity, everything is clean and neat and employees actually ask if you need help.A lot of places say customer service but Shell delivers .

I have been working with Natalia in the Design Center at Shell Lumber and she has been so helpful, patient and very informative as I was not sure of the direction I wanted to go. She is also very prompt in answering any questions I might have. She really is great to work with!!!

We had a great experience getting the materials for my sons Boy Scout Eagle Project at Shell Lumber. Our Special Orders salesperson, Noe, was excellent in answering our questions, getting us what we needed, and setting up the delivery for the schedule required. Anyone who has done an Eagle Project knows it can be stressful, but Noe was knowledgeable and efficient, which definitely helped us, and as a result everything went very smoothly! Im only giving 4 stars, however, because I passed by Shell a few days ago and found out that Noe is no longer with the company. I was planning to discuss a different project with him, but sadly he is gone.

Definitely go here over home depot if you need lumber. The selection and the quality is way way better. Ive bought a few things here inside the store as well and their selection is surprisingly massive, but the inside is a little confusing and cramped.

Update they seem to be too bothered to answer simple questions on the phone. Well they simply must not want my money...Decent place with a good selection just expect to pay top dollar

Shell Lumber has been around since the ark. Rumor has it Noah bought most of his lumber there until he got low on cash and then couldnt get credit. Pauls father was running the store back then and if you thought Paul was tight you should have known his father. Actually all pretty nice guys. Been doing business there for too many years to count, but I went down today to get my free birthday present always given out on your birthday and you had to prove it. Well, Paul sold out a few years ago and so did the birthday gift. I got some free popcorn, which is free anyway. Miss David and I didnt see Sandra either. Probably retired also. David worked with Noah, walking behind him a picking up dropped nails and reselling them to Noah.

An amazing place. In the land of Home Depots and Lowes, it is really refreshing. You get things you cannot get anywhere else, excellent selection of lumber and what they do not have you can special order. Most ( not all) of the staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. Too far for me, but whenever I am in that part of town I do go there. I wish we had one close to home!

This a convenient place to get last minute items for any project. They also have a food truck/trailer there. I would not recommend eating from there. They had what I needed, but the three employees that pointed out the wood I needed just kept on talking. I went up the ladder on my own and grabbed what I needed. Nice service.....oh and they waste so much paper is just silly... you pay then they give you three pieces of paper and then you walk three steps and another guy takes 2 of the papers... oh just so backward....

I saw these 5 star google reviews while looking for directions to this store and I thought - why is everybody raving about a hardware store?. Then after I went there, I realized how incredibly rare it is find a place where the staff is friendly, available and knowledgeable. It was nice to be treated like a valued customer. Ill drive out of my way to go there to buy supplies for my next project.

Great customer service, great selection of lumber and raw materials, tools, hardware, parts, etc. Just about the closest thing you can find to a good old fashioned hardware store in Miami, and thats definitely a complement. They have a vastly greater selection of most things than the big-box hardware stores, and many things that other stores dont have. Highly recommended.

Every employee there is knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. This place is SO much better than Home Depot or any other hardware store in Miami that the others just dont even rate in comparison. Need unusual wood? Shells your place. Need a door you cant get on the floor at the big stores? Shell just might have it. And their prices are often LOWER than Home Depots. I just wish they were a little closer to my home. If so, Id do ALL my lumber and hardware shopping there.

The absolute best selection of quality wood plus an old school hardware shop like you never see anymore. Impressive mill room and fantastic service with friendly attitude.They have a great selection of exotic woods, slabs, and live edge boards which is my primary reason to shop here.
