Horrible customer service in this place. I went there and bought a whole stereo system for my boat. They sold me a radio saying that it was the best stereo that this brand had. I went to another store the next day and had to buy another one because the information they gave me at this place was incorrect. I called El Capitan and a lady told me that it was returnable within 30 days. When I went the next day an older gentleman supposedly the manager was SUPER rude and said it was not returnable even though it was unopened in its original box. This place has horrible customer service and their employees don’t know a thing about the products they sell. I will never go back to this place. There are too many others in the Miami area to choose from.

BE AWARE OF THIS THIEFS,,, before you buy,, I ordered a rubrail for a Searay boat from mr.eduardo de las Cavadas, sales person,,he took a picture from the old rubrail and ordered, when the rubrail arrived three weeks later, it was not even close to the one I showed to him, he check again for the right part but told me it was discontinued, we proceed to a refund but I had to pay him 20% of the purchase price for something that he ordered wrong,,shame on El capitan store,,,,Eduardo de las cavadas ( Eddie) this is the same person most people refer as the store manager on their negative comments

Went in looking for a a rod and reel combo, asked the cashier for some help from one of the employees. she called someone over they asked me what i was looking for and what price range i was looking for. i wanted something good for saltwater and okay for freshwater and was looking at $75-175 range he showed me a couple combos that met both criteria i liked a penn that he had me look at and helped me get some lineanother employee loaded it for me and i was good to go. paid and started walking out when i noticed the reel was missing the top ring, i hadnt noticed until i brought the reel down to get out the door. went back talked to the cashier and she called over im not sure if it was the owner or store manager.explained what happened and he went and looked for exact rod to exchange it for me which i wanted but they didnt have more in stock unfortunately so he showed me similar rods to exchange my damaged one for i picked a penn rod that was a bit taller and went for the exchange there was a price difference which i let him know i would be fine paying for he told me it was fine apologized for the situation told me it was fine.employees were very nice and the one who helped me first seemed knowledgeable and didnt just steer me to the top of my price range or over just for a sale. im new to fishing so would have been easy enough, helped me find something i liked and was perfect for what i wanted. wish i got the manager or owners name appreciate how he handled the situation i would have been fine with exchanging and paying a difference for another rod. definitely coming back for other fishing supplies.

Ok first of all let me start by saying that what happened today was unbelievably beyond rudeness especially coming from one of the staff or managers/owner I am not sure. Now Im not going to point out fingers because you know who you are and I dont like that but I feel that when a someone does something it needs to be addressed to the whole team. I own a small company which I have registered with El Capitan and I have bought thousands of dollars in items and equipment from them. I usually send one of my employees but today I was close by and I decided to pass by to buy some items I needed for myself. Well as soon as I go into the parking space I see there is no parking available. Well I though no problem let me wait until someone gets out. Well I waited there until someone else left. When I look at the parking spot I see that both cars were big trucks and they were taking up two parking spaces. Well I have no choice but to park in the middle mind you I never do this but because there was no other spot, I drive a small car and if I park to close to one of them I run the risk of my car getting dinged or scratched or ever worse. Ok as soon as I park an elder gentleman which I am not sure who he is but he was wearing one of El Capital Shirts comes up to my window and starts banging on my windshield telling me that I needed to move because i could not take up two parking spaces I look to my side and think to myself why is this person telling me this when there are two cars next to me who clearly are taking two parking spaces and that is the reason why I am parked like this. I explained very politely that the other cars were taking to much space and I had no other choice. He then started yelling that I was going to get towed and that I needed to leave now and that I could not stay there. Then another employee comes out and says that I needed to leave and go park in the street because those parking spaces are El Capital property ( clearly I know that is why I was there because I was going to El Capitan). I explained my situation to the other employee which was even more rude and if you are reading this you know who you are. Long story short I left. There is no need to talk to one of your customers like that specially when you know that parking is short and you are seeing the situation. I was only going to go in get what I needed and leave which would take less than 10 minutes. I think that there is a level of respectfulness when it comes to running a business and if your employees dont know that then you shouldnt be up running. You may not lose a lot but trust me that today you lost a long time customer.

Terrible Customer service!!! Go somewhere your purchases are guaranteed. This is a perfect example of how mom and pop businesses shouldn’t treat their customers.I purchased a pair of Maui Jim’s for $341.03 from El Capitan, after a total of 2 weeks of ownership and 2 times of use, multiple screws were missing from the legs. When I took them in to exchange them because they were obviously defective I was told I’d have to cover the shipping. Which I thought would be $10 or less, but when I came to pick them up they charged me $33.00 to ship a pair of glasses. You’d think for a customer who comes in more than twice a month and purchases all of his gear there, they’d try to help you out considering the circumstances... WRONG! So I got stuck paying an additional 10% to get what should have been delivered in new and perfect condition.The “ manager and owner” Eddie is the one to thank for El Capitan losing a loyal customer. His reasoning behind me having to pay for their defective item was “life isn’t fair”. So if that’s the type of person you want to do business with, go there!

They don’t do refunds or returns, and if your product is defective or broken you have to pay for the freight and repair cost. You’re better off going with West Marine since they Price Match anything and actually guarantee what they sell.

Spoilt a perfectly good fishing evening, went on Saturday 25th October on the eve almost closing time and bought an ugly stik combo and reel plus bait and accessories for my companion for $75 total. We went back on Monday morning because they close on Sundays. My companion couldnt use the fishing pole because the reel was playing up, she couldnt use the rod and we had to put it to the side, el capitan staff said that apparently the line had been badly mounted by el capitan staff members to whom we paid the line installing service, they refused saying that it was human error and that it worked fine, obnoxious manager, disrespectful, really bad customer service, they lost two customers for sure, what about the bait? Or the other expenses we incurred in order to spend a night fishing? Really bad it is certainly not a good place for beginners.Update 10Just uploaded the receipt I got from them, really they are not trustworthy, they even lie to you, they said to me that Ugly Styk is manufactured by Penn and I have just found out that is a blatant lie.
