I have experienced problems with personal at three locations. The condition of their books is far superior to their major competitor. Pricing is sometimes okay or high. Selection is very good. They pay virtually nothing for books, and media.I stopped taking in books to their competitor once I had over a $1,000 in trade credit. On Abes Books Half Price Books are sometimes competitive and I am confident that condition will be as listed. They have changed over the years but it has not been improvements.

Its a nice quiet place to browse. I found some interesting books on clearance. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

Like a treasure hunt. Lots to look at and ponder over. Always love shopping at this store. Knowledgeable clerks, always willing to help you find what youre looking for. Highly recommend.

This place rocks! They have comics, games, DVDs, CDs, LPs, and lots of other interesting items. I could spend hours in this store just browsing through the stuff I already mentioned. But lets not forget that this is a bookstore. They have thousands of titles by your favorite authors at a price that wont break the budget. Looking for something specific? Just ask the friendly staff and they can transfer it from another location or give you a call when someone brings it in. Running out of space for your personal library? Bring some of those books in and you will have room to buy more books and maybe some extra cash too.

Really cool store to go to if you love used media shops. Books, movies, games, and music. I personally love this store because I collect cassettes and they sell them for 50 cents each.

This is the best place to get gently used books! Most look almost new and their prices cant be beat. I have to be careful how often we go, cause its easy to walk out with a few arm loads of books!

My review of Half Priced Books. Their operation hours can be different from what is posted on line but it is worth the wait. This is exactly what East Mesa needs. It gives you an opportunity to recycle old material (there is a 50 item limit) and to buy new material at a very good value. I love their archive section that has old books with the fancy binding and gilded covers. There are also DVD and vinal recordsThey have a lot many handicapped parking spaces immediately in front of their store. Unfortunately I did not see a ramp that would allow a wheelchair to have immediate and easy access to the store and the doors are not automated so you would need to have someone hold the door for a wheelchair to get into this store. They do have red shopping carts that can allow you to more easily transport your books from outside to the purchasing counter.They have a great section of manga, comic books, games and puzzles. I saw many great and unique gifts. I found toy unicorn stuff in unexpected places. I thought that was fun. The childrens section was neat and tidy with a fantastic range of childrens series.There is a community board. Waterfountain and restrooms in the back but thise are not accessible during these covid19 times. Each isle is one way. Social distancing reminders are marked on the floors and alcoves have reminder sign of: One person at a time per alcove.In the back right corner, there is a clearance section. DVDs as well as books.

Always good finds and friendly staff. Didnt find exactly what I was looking for, but left with 3 books from one of my favorite authors. Everything is kept organized, clean, and always a good vibe overall when you come in :)

Will never go there again. I used to have an ebay store and I recently closed it, so I wanted to get rid of some of my left over inventory that I didnt sell, and they wouldnt take it because I had multiples of stuff. They said they didnt know if when people bring in stuff like that if its not stolen. I have been there in the past couple of years and never had a problem but after this experience Ill never go there again.

I have an addiction to this place. they always have what I need and are always very nice when I go in.

Ive been buying comic books from this store and making furniture with them. Its turning out pretty good so far. Half price books has a wonderful selection of comic books older and newer. Its a neat little place to stop in and check out.

Sometimes it is good. Not a lot of people to help. Charge you 7.99 for hardcover books, but only change bringing on books for them to resale

Came in and asked about Tarot cards. Girl at register wasnt rude, but also wasnt helpful. She wouldnt even show me what they had. Just said, I think we only have like one deck and their not really great or I dont think youd like them. Oh thanks! Im sure thats accurate bc we know each other so well.🙄 And then she just continued on her phone like I was never even there. Otherwise, the store itself is nice, well organized. Bit pricey for a resale shop, but then again, most are nowadays. 🙄

Lots of books here. Mostly older books that I have not been able to find anywhere else. I was at another Half Price Books a few years ago when hubby and I vacationed in Mammoth, CA. Great stores.

They have a great selection! I love coming here and just looking through the books for a while. I always end up buying more books than I expected. Good prices on everything too. Ive never sold anything to them so Im not sure how great they are when it comes to that. Ive had a couple visits where the staff hasnt been the friendliest or very helpful but theyre usually great.

Nice variety of books, souvenirs and toys at reasonable prices. My kids love this place.

When I need something unusual I can usually find it here. I have been able to find a good amount of philosophy books there, Kafka, collected works of many old pulp authors. Their prices are great on books. But the movies and music are little high for the few decent ones I can find after digging through them. But the staff is great and always helpful. I make it a point to hit the place up whenever I am in that area.

Its pretty dissapointing as it seems in General to be more like 80% price books. Just bein honest. If they dont have what Im lookin for Its usually at another store and they get it for me so thats nice. The people are always fun. Either really cool and Fun or uptight. Takes all kinds to make a bookstore!🤪💖

Always enjoy shopping here. Prices are good if not great. But if youre selling books, expect to be underwhelmed by the offer. Youre better off saving the gas money and selling them at a local yard sale.

Some cool obscure books in this store plus plenty of crowd pleasers. I wish this store was closer to my location. I cant go there as often as Id like. If you are a book lover I think you will enjoy your visit.

I just came across this store, and was blown away by the customer service. I really wanted to buy some comic strip books for my boys, who were with me, for Christmas. Staff directed me politely, and accurately. They didnt seem to be judging me when my son had a slight fit. Then when I checked out, I explained I wanted to hide it. The clerk was fantastic, he acted quickly, and was super nice about it. The store was amazingly clean, and very organized. I will definitely return next time I am in town.

This place is huge and has a great selection of books, music, and movies. Feels kind of like a library. You can also sell them books you dont want anymore. They dont give you much, but it was more than what I wouldve gotten at Goodwill. Staff is very friendly. Will definitely be back in the near future.

What a great place to spend some free time and a little bit of your hard earned money.I went in there with about an hour to spend and could have spent another full hour and not been bored.Fair prices and an amazing selection!

Half Price Books in like a very nice place to go to. Theyre in the shopping center that is close to a Walmart and the mall. The staff was very helpful and show me exactly what I need to go to find what I was looking for. I love going there and just looking around and being able to smell the older books. I love the smell of books!

Its an ok used book store decent price and selection. Cowards or too much of a religious conservative to make an occult section ? Love the new age section is at the bottom near the floor.Folks there is nothing new age about native spirituality, sun dances and medicine people and yet you have a native section ? New age what a misnomer. If you like copious amounts of christian literature this is the place for you. Fun fact cash register man its good business to greet and reply to customers especially after making eye contact. then you look away? Female employee was curtious and helpful.

I love this location. It reminds me of the ones I grew up with in Texas. The nostalgia alone is worth the five hour drive from LA. They also offer a teacher discount card, even to out of state teachers. I get lots of kids stuff here to fill my classroom.Another great aspect is the wide assortment of strange stationary. I stock up on bizarre sticky notes and thank you cards I’ll use throughout the year. I can never get enough half price goodness.

They have a very, very large selection of books of all kinds and subjects. They do have a graphic novel section as well and its always decently stocked, DC/Marvel comics also available.They normally have more than one copy of the book Im looking for so I can get alternative covers if available or pick based on condition.I drop by this store to look for new books quite often, I highly recommend you stop by if youre needing a book.

Amazing second hand gently used store with great prices! Excellent selection of soft and hard cover books in all categories setup like a library, decent vintage record record selection which is always being added to. Personal note: I have not encountered one album Ive purchased with scratches you can open them up and inspect prior to purchase. Also a very nice selection of DVD & Blueray movies which are inventoried... If u cant find it one of the most helpful sales reps will check both their stores. So many books so little time. Great prices on books. Nice childrens area with board books, chapter books, AG books and YA books. Lots of subjects for adults from Sci Fi, Horror, Cooking to religion and crafts. Too many to name.

This place always has great prices and Ive never had a problem with the staff. Theyre never really too busy either.Right now they require masks and social distancing. They seemed to be taking covid seriously which is nice, since many places dont care at all.

Love how the store is organized. Was easily able to find books in the genre I wanted. They have multiples of a lot of their books so you can pick-and-choose from ones that are in better condition. You cant beat the prices and their wide selection. I found 3 different cookbooks that I liked when I visited. The staff was friendly and helpful. They offer shopping carts if you plan okay buying a lot of books. Highly recommend.

The selection of books is overwhelming. The staff is so ready to help. I had a list of books I was looking for and asked for their locations on the computer, they found 7 on my list cheerfully!! Ill be back!!

Its pretty great for finding what youre looking for, great selection with hardcover and paperback sections,they have everything cataloged on the computer so they can search all their stores! Their fault is the bringing in your own books to sell. There is no trade in, its just selling for cash, which is determined by their online system when they scan barcodes on the books. It does not pay well, not at all. A dozen books that are basically brand new, super popular, or hard to find and they gave me $8, guess Ill be taking my used books to Bookmans for their trade in credit.

Great place to go gift shopping for family! It has such a large selection, all shelved in separate categories. Also a nice collection of used CDs and DVDs. Its good to know that Half Price Books has over 120 locations, including 3 in Chicagoland.

Items include DVD/Blu-ray, VHS, CD, records, books, games (both video and board), puzzles, crafts, magazines, etc.Prices are comparable to Amazon on most items I looked at. Quality is good but does depend on age and use of items if not brand new.

I could spend an entire Saturday here. The collection of new and used is vast. Fiction, non fiction, manga, DVD, blu ray, video games and so much more. Support the locals and become a regular like my family and I and give this place a chance.

I love half price books. This location had an exceptionally friendly staff. It took them about 5 minutes to sort through a medium sized box of books and make me an offer. The offer was in line with my expectations. I found the selection of used and new books to be good here, and found the old text books I was looking for and then some. I am so glad establishments like half price books continue to thrive.

I was impressed with how the store is taking our health crisis serious 😷 Arrows in isles, sanitizing counter after each customer, signs explaining masks 😷 are a requirement. Great price on cassette tapes. Minivans CD player is busted, so I needed some good tunes to rock out to. Luckily Half Price Books had a decent collection, and now I can blast some Tesla or Kix on my midday commute!

I come once a month to buy books for studies for my homeschool kiddos we love this place very much!!!

Tell you what, this place is the best. My toddler goes through books like candy, I try and only use screens for when I need him hypnotized so I can do something like put on my socks. Other times he is shouting buh! And bringing me one of the reasonably priced books I got from this place which are really cheap to replace once he destroys them.
