My experience at the New Balance Store in Merrillville was very positive. Received excellent customer service from the staff - they were welcoming from the time I walked in.I spoke to Nicky & let him know I was looking for a good walking shoe. He made several recommendations & then measured both of my feet to assure a proper fit.I also purchased workout gear with recommendations from Nicky & Marie. They are both very knowledgeable about the products they sell & I appreciated their input.I am looking forward to walking in my new shoes (they are so comfortable!) & workout gear!! I will definitely return to this store!

Sad day there Monday. I have literally spent will over a thousand dollars at this store between my GF and I. Never ever again. New Balance online only and or I will drive into Illinois. I purchased a pair of socks in Illinois ( exact same ones they have ) She attempted to look me up via number. I informed her I did purchase them out of state. She immediately stopped and said nope we cant do that. ( would if I didnt have a account ) Do you still say no? It was literally an exchange for a smaller pair. Well I know you all are not struggling, but you lost my business, and all my employees that I have referred to you and have also went there over a pair of $10.00 socks!UPDATED TODAY At 5pm the owner/manager called me personally and was super apologetic and informed me it was not there policy, and in dd the they will have no problem exchanging the socks. She even offered up a pretty sweet deal that absolutely wasn’t necessary but super thoughtful. I will be in next week to swap out those socks, and grab me a new pair of American made sneakers! Thank you for making this small problem right.Update today 05-21-2021 Jessica the gm was very kind, she exchanged the socks zero problems, and ordered me up a new pair of golf spikes. The gal that told me no was right next to her, she seen who I was and walked straight to the back which made it awkward for sure. Which sucks cause I really like her a lot and she was the first person that fit me there and sold me on New Balance. No worries, I’ll still come back and hope we all can move forward. Big thank you to Merrillville New Balance and Jessica for helping me!****I have made it a 4 star place is it should be****

It would be nice if they had a treadmill so the shoes could be tried out before buying.

I didnt get the name of the lady that helped me, but she was very knowledgeable and helpful. She took the measurements for my feet and found the perfect shoes and inserts for me. Ill be back!

I was helped by an associate named Lawrence Andy he was very helpful along with his coworker whose name I didn’t get. I did my research before hand and had questions that they were able to answer. Overall I had an excellent experience there and was able to get something that I liked. Thank you Lawrence and coworker.

Marie went through a multitude of shoe and insert combinations in order to find the correct fit for me. It was welcoming to have an experience with an employee who really cares about her job. That in turn led to a pair of shoes and inserts that have greatly reduced my lower back pain to almost nothing. Simply because of great products and employees who wanna help. Thanks again, and Ill be coming back as long as youre there.

The staff at this store were friendly and helpful, and for that I am truly blessed! I dont want to sound like this is personal to the people at New Balance. Great job folks! But New Balance shoes are absolutely the worst! Very poor quality shoes that dont last even for a few months. Ive been wearing a $160.00 pair of their top of the line shoes for 3-4 months and there is literally a hole in the toe box of the right shoe. Soon there will be the same hole in the left shoe also! How can expensive shoes wear out that fast!? It almost seems impossible that $ 160.00 running shoes could be so poorly made, but my toes are starting to come out of the right shoe! UGH!! Im NOT a marathon runner or triathelete, but someone who walks and runs a few miles each day to stay healthy! Good thing, otherwise these shoes would have lasted about a month. I paid top dollar for shoes that are poor quality, flimsy, and wore out almost immediately after I purchased them. These are the worst running shoes Ive ever purchased! NEVER AGAIN! Hear me! NEVER AGAIN!! Caveat emptor: buyer beware!!! Dont buy New Balance shoes!!!

Update: Manager has attempted to contact us. I have not called her back yet. I will, just crazy busy. But I wanted to change this review and reflect that once I posted the review we contacted a week or so later. The manager called and also wrote a note with a very fair offer to rectify the situation. It was appreciated and good buisness!Thank you.However only 3 stars, since the shoes we purchased were not sized correctly. My son can not wear the orthotics with these shoes. The Physical therapist said someone shown have see how high the top of his foot was rubbing in the shoe and offered a deeper shoe.To be honest when I picked the shoes up, I asked the technician to change the laces I purchased from the store and he ignored me 3 times. We were in the store long enough for the shoes to be put on and placed in the box. He walked back and forth twice and we were sent on our way...Pleasant experience with staff. However, We have been waiting for my sons shoes since Feb 11th. Its Feb 24th. Stock is very limited in store, even for my husband and I. When I called last week, I was told the order wasnt placed by the ordering manager until a week later and they were expecting it Friday. Well... Friday has come and went. No phone call from Manager or store. The issue with all of this, is my son is waiting on these shoes for special orthotics. We spent over a $100 on 1 pair. If I would have been given a chance to make an informed decision, we probably would have drove the further to the Orland Park New Balance. We were told they would be in next week. Not 3 weeks later. Will probably not return to this store again.
