Not only did they perform expert and quality brake and rotor replacement - but they took the extra time to explain my cars brake condition and the whole process of replacement. If you want to be confident that you are getting the best service and at an unbeatable price, Exhaust Masters is the place to go.I was turned down by the shop across the street for an exhaust repair on my Lincoln because they couldn’t squeeze my 15 minute repair into their Saturday. Since I am not from the area and could not simply wait till the following business day I called over to Manny at Exhaust Masters and he assured me he could get it done the same day even if it meant staying after their normal business hours.About half an hour after I dropped off my car he gave me a call explaining the issue, made a recommendation (which saved me $75) and had the service done shortly after. As a mechanical engineer myself, I am pretty hesitant to let others work on my cars however I will make the 45 minute drive from Chicago any day for all my exhaust or repair needs since Manny and his team are people I can trust.

I worked with Emanuel (Manny) at Exhaust Masters on Taft St. in Merrillville on my 2017 Ford Fusion AWD Platinum to get a better exhaust note with my 2.0 Turbo 4-cylinder engine. He is very knowledgeable and passionate about his work. I pulled up and we put the car on the lift. He told me exactly what he was going to do to give me exactly what I came in for. The whole team is very honest and upfront with everything they can do for you. The price for what I had done was very modest as well. When I came in to pick my car up only 3 hours later, the car sounded amazing and you can tell that Manny was ecstatic with the work. He pulled me back into the garage to showed me the work put into the custom exhaust. He had a smile almost as big as my smile when he turned the car on and I heard the amazing sound that Manny created with my car. You can tell that he loves his job and enjoys doing the work he does. If you have any issues with your car, any upgrades you want to do to your car, or any normal maintenance that needs to be done go Exhaust Masters on Taft St!!!

I brought my 02focus svt in to have the catalytic converter replaced. Unfortunately ford discontinued it so Manny had to basically make a custom set up for me. He started early and stayed late and did it all for a good price. The man is a true profesional and I would recommend him to anyone.

I took my pontiac gto here and Manny took great care of me. I am nothing short of amazed at the quality and attention to detail on my custom exhaust. I had a very good experience on my first time going which was today March 6,2021. I went in there for a wheel alignment. Manny was honest with me and showed me exactly what was wrong with my car. He explained everything! JD was also friendly and outgoing. They accept AAA and gives discounts so make sure you bring your AAA card.

I showed up at 8:55 for my 9:00 appointment. Upon checking in I was told that I was not in the system. I was told that I could leave the truck put it would not be completed today. I left and went to another company called American I was in and out in less than one hour. I will never use Exhaust Masters again.

The people there were very friendly and responsive, they took care of my truck and I did not feel cheated in any way, they were very fair on the prices, the only issue I had was that they kept my truck for 6 days to get it repaired and I lost a lot of time and money on the job because of that. I would recommend them for quality and price but you have to be patient with them.

They were able to squeeze me in when I came in at the last minute. The got my car fixed and I was ready to go. Highly recommend.

I made an appointment for February 22 for an oil leak that the Jeep Grand Cherokee is known for having. We waited 4 days for them to contact us about what the estimate would be, and the guy said hed call when they found the leak. We called back towards the end of business on Friday and the new guy I spoke with said that he had been off the last 3 days and he was still backed up from the previous week, so he would speak to the tech that looked at the vehicle and call back. Never happened. My husband called the following day, Saturday, and was told that it was like 3 different leaks and it would be about $1200 to fix. He said go ahead, they ordered the parts. Said they would be in Tuesday, take about a day to install and wed be good to go. On Thursday, March 4th my husband was told that one of the parts didnt come in yet so we were kinda stuck waiting. Then on Tuesday the 9th we are told that it needs a tune up and theres yet another leak and the price shoots up to $2400. And on top of it all, the original reason we brought it in was even addressed. The part we needed they put into another vehicle and we would have to wait 46 to 60 days because its on backorder. Gave 2 stars because I guess the work they did is ok? But terrible, terrible communication and feels a lot like theyre trying to pull a fast one. 17 days they had it, and not everything was repaired or replaced as they said they would.

I had an appointment to drop my truck off yesterday for them to install my flow master exhaust on my new truck. I dropped it off before they were open and it sat there for 9 hours and they didn’t even do anything!!! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL and you lost my business👎🏽

I have not been to this shop in over 8 years because I moved a couple of towns away and my son was in an auto program in high school. (That meant, pay for parts only.Well, he graduated so that is over!) I am now back to my GO-TO Shop for brakes and exhaust. The best thing about this place, is that they are TRUSTWORTHY and VERY reasonably priced. Do not let the name fool you. They do more than exhaust. Before you go anywhere else..check them out first.

I realize not every car repair will be the same, but I was VERY impressed with Exhaust Masters. Based upon a personal referral, I drove my loud vehicle to their shop on a Monday morning bracing myself for a $$$ repair. The service tech promptly put it on the rack to inspect the damage. Once the inspection was complete, I was invited to see the damage for myself which they said would amount to a minimal fix. It was refreshing to NOT be upsold with unnecessary parts. AWESOME GUYS!! Upon completion, I was once again invited to see the repair before rolling out the door in less than an hour. Thanks for a great first impression.

I had my daughter’s 2002 Honda Passport in the shop due to some emission issues. I can’t say how appreciative I am of the work that they have completed. First, she is so excited, stating the vehicle drives so much better now! They went above and beyond to complete the repairs and make it safe for her to drive. I found Exhaust Masters on a google search. They had High ratings and great reviews. I drove there instead of making an appointment online or over the phone so I could physically see the shop. They were busy as heck. the Guy behind the counter was friendly but seemed agitated. I did think it was towards me but the busyness of the work day. I stated clearly what I needed . The check engine light was on and a test at the local auto parts store code indicate gross evap system leak I knew it needed to be smoked tested to determine where leak was. I also said the ABS TRAC light was on. I told him what I thought the issue was he said we would have to tested it to see. He gave me appointment date and I left. I work on call and 100%travel I found out two days later I would be out of town on my appointment date. I immediately called and rescheduled. I brought the car in on my rescheduled date and was told I didnt have and appointment after looking through system he found my appointment and said it was for the prior day. I was in Albany NY I would have never made a appointment for that day. He said he would try and squeeze you in . I got you down for emissions. I said yeah but what about the BS TRAC light? We dont have you down for that were busy we cant do that today. I say ok so can I make an appointment to get it looked at. He yells pointing we are so busy over there I don know when I can get it in! I didnt get angry with him yelling at me but I didn like it! This was the only place in the area I found that could do a smoke test. They had my car for three days. Finally they called and said my car was done. I thought the price was ridiculous. They charged me for a emissions test that they knew my car would fail I BROUGHT IT IN BECAUSE IT HAD AN EVAP LEAK! of course it would fail . Then another charge to calibrate reset PCM I didnt ask for that. I could have drove the car around for 20 or 30 minutes and it would have reset set itself.They may do good work based on the reviews here and how busy the shop was . I definitely the like the added charges or the I dont need you business attitude of the counter person.Id advise anyone new to make clear what you want done and what youre paying for up front .As for me Ill be going some place different the next time thats for sure

Went in today to get a 4 wheel alignment, and to fix an exhaust problem, great professional work, friendly staff JD and manny are so friendly and helpful, there were a few extra things that needed done on my vehicle that manny pointed out and told me what to do at home, but when the job was complete, he went above and beyond of what I was expecting and he fixed the few items as mentioned free of charge...so n conclusion I’d recommend these guys anytime for all your automotive needs, thank you EXHAUST MASTERS!!!!!

Incredibly friendly staff and so honest - they recommended we not make some repairs we were asking about, because it wasnt needed and wouldnt be worth it. Completely the opposite of most places. My husband and I had our first visit with Exhaust Masters today and were very pleased to say the least. Manny and his crew took very good care of us. We needed a flex pipe and a straight pipe welded to our exhaust as our flange was rusted. Very happy with the job and the way we were treated. Our car is quiet once again. Cant understand how when I go to pick up my vehicle and has no visible antifreeze under radiator cap I am told its supposed to be like that. ($2,200 dollar repair) Had fluid put in then drove home. Fluid leaking. They fixed it, thank you for that. I will see how repair does in days to come. If all is good I will up the stars. If not will repost with less. Well air conditioner not blowing cold. Would have been nice to know that freon would be gone. Another $150. Not fixed by these guys.

A great locally owned total automotive care shop. Manny is a super nice guy and the mechanics did an excellent job repairing my exhaust. I dont usually give 5 star ratings unless I feel the SPs went beyond what I expected. Exhaust Masters did just that.

Got into a minor accident that ripped a hole in one of my tires, so I had to get a new one. After having Exhaust Masters recommended by AAA, I had it towed there. They finished it the day it was towed there, did a great job replacing the tire, and charged me about $40 less than other places that I had called wanted to charge me. Cant ask for much more than that!

I needed some exhaust work done and some of my fellow employees over at Bosak motors recommended this place to me to save some money. Come to find out my dual mufflers and exhaust pipes underneath my car were rotted out. I brought my car here on Saturday August 17th and immediately within the hour JD had it in the shop to inspect the problem. Kyle the mechanic was a big help identifying the problem and showing me what needed to be done to fix my exhaust issue. I received my vehicle back on Monday, August 19th in the afternoon and now my car is running better then ever!! Thank you guys for fixing my car up right before emissions testing!!

Had an issue with my 2003 Honda Civic brake line leak over Easter Weekend while visiting my folks in NW Indiana. My Father had vehicle towed to their Merrillville, IN facility and proceeded to change all of the brake lines on my car and did it without even providing my Father or myself a written estimate! When my Father went to recover vehicle, he was given a bill for $659.61! Their District Manager Manny as hes known didnt do a thing to even acknowledge that this was dishonest and not only proceeded to charge my Father - he also refused his credit card and insisted he be paid in cash! Police were called on the scene to oversee the exchange. Exhaust Masters was not authorised to perform this work on my vehicle and then charge rates that are inconsistent with non-dealership shops. I attempted to call Manny directly on Saturday to discuss this with him and resolve and was told by his employee working at the shop - JD as he called himself that he was unavailable and refused to give me Mannys cell number so I can call him directly to discuss! Exhaust Masters is the example of what an automotive repair shop should never do while conducting business. In all my time having my vehicles serviced in the States of Indiana and Illinois - I have never come across a repair shop that doesnt provide a written estimate of services and work to be performed on a vehicle without having me review it and sign off on it! This is a very unprofessional and totally dishonest business.

I have had three vehicles repaired here. I can say with experience that this may be the best auto repair shop in the region. Most recently my Cadillac SRX was having trouble that the dealership could not or would not take the time to look at closely enough to figure out the root cause of the problem. After months of having my car in the shop at this dealer (not the one in Merrillville), I took it to Mike at Exhaust Masters. Hi explained to him what the dealer had done so far (which cost me over $1600), and he knew pretty quickly what needed to be done and that the prior repairs probably didnt need to be performed at all, hence the idleling and hesitating problem never went away.Long story short, I got my car back today. So far it runs perfectly, had it up to almost 100mph to test it and I had no problems. Mike did a very thurough engine cleaning, this allowed him to find a leaking fuel injector, a vacuum leak, extream carbon build up on the valves and heads and a miss firing cylinder ( I bought this car used). After spending 4 DAYS to clean it properly, he put it back together and gave it back to me in proper working order. Now it drives like a dream.I will never take a vehicle anywhere else again, I learned my lesson.Thanks Mike!

Yesterday was my first experience with Exhaust Masters in Merrillville.I needed some exhaust repair done. They put my car on the lift and took me out and showed me exactly what needed to be replaced. Then, when my car was done, they lifted it again and showed me the work they did. Ive never had a mechanic show me whats going on before. Often it feels like mechanics are trying to invent problems with your car or cut corners on a repair, but these guys are open and honest.The details:The flex pipe I needed to have replaced is normally sold as a big piece that includes the catalytic converter ($800+). My catalytic converter is fine, so instead they cut the pipe and replaced only the part I needed (about $150). Most places would have told me that I needed the entire assembly.I also had a hole in my resonator (which is meant to make it a little quieter for passengers in the back seat). They recommended cutting the resonator out and replacing it with just a piece of pipe since that would be $150 cheaper, and the resonator isnt actually a needed part. Since all I wanted is a car that will function, I was perfectly happy with that. I appreciated that they were helping me to put my money where it mattered! Even with this, the car is so much quieter than it was previously.Additionally, I had a few suspension parts that I thought may need to be replaced. The owner, Manny, tested them in front of me, and told me theyre fine and to not replace something that isnt broken (its how his dad did business and its how he does business). He didnt try to sell me something I didnt need!My conclusion:The level of openness and honesty amazed me. The owner is very caring and personable. He took the time to show me exactly what was going on and explain things. Its obvious that he treats his employees well and that everyone does good quality work. I would recommend them to everyone.

With new Manager, my experience was less than unpleasant. I bought a muffler about a year or year and a half ago from Exhaust Masters. I took my truck to a muffler shop near my job during lunch break due to excessive exhaust noise to be told that my muffler was no good and had rusted out. So I contacted Exhaust Masters to find out what the warranty was and was told that the vehicle would have to be brought in order to verify if there had been a back-fire, overheating of muffler, or misuse. Feeling as is they were looking for any reason not to cover the warranty I still had my wife to bring it in and of course was told by the manager that I was a few miles over the mileage limit for the warranty, the muffler was discolored from overheating, and not to mention there were signs of backfire. This was absolute cow dung, as my truck does not back-fire, there were no signs of discoloration on the muffler and not to mention theres no test for a back-fire unless you cut it open and look but even then theres no certainty. This guy looked for any and every reason not to cover the warranty and was very unpleasant as I told him that I was very displeased with the ethics and service and would not bring my vehicle for service there again and his response was okay. Unbelievable!

I had my car in for service and while it was there my tail light and spoiler were somehow damaged. The damage was not mentioned to me when I picked up the vehicle and I did not notice it until later that day. They took care of my mechanical problem, but now I am left with cosmetic issues and hard to find parts, very disappointed.
