I experienced great value for the money, terrific customer service, and good quality workmanship with my brake repair.

Had some steering work done here. The rack and pinon gear was going out. Cotmans did a great job of getting the work done. The also found that a previous owner of the truck did not use the proper power steering fluid and fixed that issue. They also replaced the upper steering linkage because of the fit with the new rack and pinon gear was not correct. Overall this was a positive experience. The only thing that would have made this better would be communication about the repair.

We bought a used van for our martial arts school. We had some issues and took it this Cottman to determine if it was the transmission. Mr. Charn and Mr. Leonard were very clear in explaining the problem with the van. They stated that the issue was not with the transmission and that we had to have a tune up. They also recommended that we change our tires.Given that we are transporting children, it is very important that we have safe and reliable transportation. We were very pleased with the services that we received from Cottman. They explained clearly and were professional. Without hesitation, we would recommend them.Thank you for all you do Cottman! Great customer service and great pricing. My transmission was slipping and I took it to a transmission shop closer to home and they wouldnt touch it for less than 1,200 and then thered be more for parts and time, no diagnostics. I refused and brought my truck to Cottman. They offered to look at it and found the primary source of the slipping was low on fluid, this is one of the self-contained transmissions where you cant add your own fluid. They had it for a day or so and found the source of the leak. This is a 16yr old Isuzu so they put some fluid in it, told me to drive is sparingly while they found the parts to do the job completely. After a week or so, they found parts, I made another appt, they installed the parts and added more fluid since some had leaked out. Cashed out at less than 300$ More than fair and its my daily driver again. Cottman Customer Forever !! Great & Fair guys ! Sincere, Thanks!

I dont usually post anything about my experience with businesses, but had to put a warring out, this place is and con and very misleading, was told one price and than once I gave them the deposit to do the work, received calls for more money. Please be aware of the this place, dont have any choices but to pay because they are ready started the work. If you can get it all on writing before you let them do any work. Traveling in my 2001 VW Eurovan and quite a few miles away from home. The center manager, Leonard Johnson was excellent, did his assessment and gave me the OK to continue my trip. He did a very extensive physical test drive with the VW. He made sure that the issue of the computer analysis was not a factor. I was very happy with the thoroughness of the testing that he performed. I would highly recommend this place as they are not trying to do more than required. Leonard could have easily charged for unneeded services.

One of the most professional auto repair shops. I live in Springfield, about 20 miles from the shop and I take all of my cars to this shop. This place has saved me significant sum of money as well as being totally honest about what needs to be done, what can wait and what doesnt need to be done. I have a Hyundai that the dealer wanted to replace all the belts, hoses, and timing belt. Well my 2006 Hyundai Sonata doesnt have a timing belt, it has a chain. Mr Charn and Mr. Leonard looked my car over and replaced a few items, the bill being far less than the $1600 the dealer wanted. As of this time they have also worked on my Buick Lucerne (brakes and struts) and on my Silverado (brakes, belts, and power steering). What I really liked was the follow up phone call to make sure everything was all right.I highly recommend this business, they are honest, pay attention to detail, and dont charge an arm and a leg.

Honest and thorough, what more could you want? Ended up paying a lot less than we had feared.

Note:Before go to Cottman 9113 Mathis Ave, Manassas, VA please read this story otherwise you will be another victim like me ! be careful ! they put my $3100.00 on drain.I went to fix my ford cars noise on Cottman transmission 9113 Mathis Ave, Manassas, VA on December 09, 2014. in starting owner setthi and his partner / mechanic Leonard Johnson told me - we will take care of your car/ free inspection. no need to pay much money for fix this. we will charge so less amount. i did trust them. after inspection Mechanic Leonard told me your 2 wheel bearings need to change, he gave me $1068.00, I agreed and paid that money. after that sound was still coming, he told me change front another 2 bearings too. i agreed and pay near about $850.00+. again sound was still coming than he told me to fix transfer. he ask me 250.00. i agreed. later he charged me $1250.00+. total i paid near about $3100.00+. i request to him for show me what you fixed ? can you plz put on lift and i want see. they both mad with me and denied. they took my money, took my 3 days time, and my car has still noise. their behavior was so rude. i never seen like this bad customer service and cheating ! they just wants to collect the money from customer. after spend my $3100.00 dollar i have the still noise problem in my car. i never wants to go back to cottman transmission, 9113 Mathis Ave, Manassas, VA on this location and i want to suggest to all my friends and family, other customers too, please be careful with their cheating. do not go there. do not wastage the money. save your car from them. find some where ! if you want to see very bad attitude of them and want to wastage money go there ! this is my experience. today i got another customer who has the same experience like mine.To : Cottman Transmission Corporate- please review this kind of bad and so poor customer service, or be ready for lose the customer and business ! i can tell with guaranty that - this Locations business will go down or on negative soon. coz customer cant go there second time ! DO NOT GO TO COTTMAN TRANSMISSION OF MANASSAS!!! I paid $3000 to Cottman to have my transmission rebuilt, with heavy duty parts. I got 25K miles out of it before it began to have shifting problems. I took it back to Cottman and they agreed to take a look and figure out what is wrong with it after I explained to them the problems. 2 days later they tell me that now they will need $500 to find out what it wrong with it. $500 JUST TO SEE WHAT IS WRONG?!?! If you want crappy auto repairs at high prices, then by all means, go to Cottman. but if you want my advice. DO NOT GO TO COTTMAN TRANSMISSION OF MANASSAS!!!

Cottman Transmission business model is this. You arrive with a problem you think may be caused by your transmission. You ask for an estimate. They tell you, based on their previous 20 plus years experience and all their knowlege, there is absolutely no way Cottman Transmission can provide you an estimate. (This is how the money trap is set up.) They explain to you, Gee how would we know. We cant be sure because we can not see inside the transmission. Since you also can not see inside the transmission, this sounds reasonable to you. Cottman tells you they will have to remove the transmission. You agree. (You dont realize it but the Cottman money trap has been sprung on you.) Cottman tell you, it will cost several houndred dollars to remove the transmission....just to give you a reasonable estimate. The transmission is removed and dissassembled. Cottman calls you and now tells you, it will cost between $2000. and $3000. or more. (See other complaints.) The point is, based on Cottmans years of experience, all along, Cottman knew what the range of the average repair cost was. They could have given you this number ...even before they removed the transmission. We could have used this number to decide whether to it was worth it to repair the car, trade it in or junk it.It is Cottmans business model to trap you into a costly repair or at a minimum the cost to remove the transmission! Take my advice and stay away from Cottman!!! Ampco Transmissions has the same business model. Instead, I recommend Trans Auto Dynamics in Gainsville, VA. They have repaired several transmissions for me including 4 wheel drive transmissions. All of my Trans Auto Dynamics transmission repairs have continued to work flawlessly. Trans Auto Dynamics will happily give you a cost estimate range to rebuild your transmission without going throught the cost of removing your transmission.Take my advice and stay away from the Cottman people!!! When I last visited Ampco Transmissions, they had the same business model as Cottman so beware of Ampco Transmissions too.
