Its been over a year since I stopped in at Stanton Optical. The only redeeming quality about this place is that the staff is nice.I am creating this review now because its the second time this year I got an email and text from Stanton telling me my order is ready for pickup even though I have not stepped in at all for the past year.If you go in expecting an appointment lasting around an hour, be prepared for at least a 4 hour experience of standing around doing nothing.You will wait about a half hour after walking in, then you will finally spend about 10 minutes having the machine check your eyes. After that you wait about another 15 minutes to talk to someone on a TV (not in person) to go over the eye exam. How exactly is this helpful if a doctor is physically not there?After that, you begin your long journey of waiting 2-3 hours doing nothing but looking at the same glasses over and over again. The staff goes back and fourth between patients instead of just focusing on you, so you will be waiting to pay them as well.At the end of your appointment, you actually feel like you have been ripped off. At one point you just want to pay them to leave.I know its been a while since I went in, but believe me when I say you are better off spending more money and saving hours of your day elsewhere. Who knows if they still have a TV talk to you?Again, go anywhere else but here.

“A” for kindness from Tina, Sales Manger, Stanton Optical.I had to get a specific prescription that involved “prism”. Not sure what that means but it seemed to correct the double vision.Tina’s kindness and hard work lead to a referral to the west side Stanton. Dr. Mike prescribed the glasses I needed. He was so impressed with my healthy eyes that he didn’t like having to create these glasses that I might have to wear for a very long time. But he did it and it was all because Tina wanted the best glasses for my specific need.I really appreciate her genuine care and service.God bless your day, reader. So far Im very very happy with my experience at the East Washington store in Madison WI. I have not yet received my glasses, but I can attest to the excellent customer service by Mel. She was very knowledgeable and seemed genuinely interested in helping her customers. Also, the same day appointment was fantastic! I scheduled from home, and was seen about 20 minutes later. Even though Im not happy about needing glasses.... I am very pleased with my experience at the East Madison store. I rarely leave reviews, but I was extra impressed with how knowledgeable and helpful the the staff were during my visit

The team members who did my eye check up was great. The member who helped me find my frames and perfect my prescription was very nice. Her name was Tina Pudlas and she made the experience very nice.

Never had a problem with my contact prescription and everyone is willing to answer questions and order trial pairs to ensure your new prescription is 100% accurate. Over the last 2 years Stanton Optical has really made awesome changes! They improved their customer service and in store frontline staff drastically! I used to dread coming in here after purchasing a 3 year “membership” type deal for eye exams but actually come here as a choice now. Great changes made and amazing female staff on the East side!

Great experience, new faces on the team and they work effectively together keeping pace even when 4 people show up at the same time. Tina helped me pick out glasses and this was the first time I actually wanted to make an educated purchase on a pair of glasses to last me a long time. She told me about bendable frames and roll and polish, she also got me thinner lenses than the hockey pucks I got from a different place. Everyone is saying how great the glasses look for my face and Im actually equally if not more happy wearing my glasses instead of contacts.Thanks Tina and the team!! You all rock!

Did not meet with a real doctor. Was told i need help, this is only my second day several times. They were unable to support the prism diagnosis i previously had from a competent eye doctor.

Very bad experience over all.Very high prices compare to Eyemart Express. They messed my eye exam get to prescription and did not corrected, Instead they wanted to charge me for another eye exam even though it was their fault. Not what I expected.

I stopped in on a whim to get a better idea of what frames might work for me. I was impressed with the large selection and found a few that I liked. Then Lyn asked if I needed any help and found a few more than worked well. She was very helpful in looking up insurance and going over my benefits. I was especially impressed when she told me about the 30 day return guarantee and suggested I try the less expensive lens first and if it didnt work out, i could always get the more expensive lens. Plus, I was impressed that my glasses were ready in 20 minutes. It was pretty slow so thats probably not the norm, but even getting my glasses the same day was a treat for me. I also ordered a pair of sunglasses and when I went to pick those up the following week, the staff was friendly and even though they were quite busy, they were friendly, helpful and efficient. I was especially grateful for the extra micro-fiber glasses holder that I was given by the person adjusting my glasses. Its not an expensive item, but it was nice that she offered a second one after I commented that I wished I had one for my other pair of glasses. Sometimes its the little things that make a difference!

I recall decent service when I got my exam and prescription here a while back. But once you walk out the store, forget it!! Once they have your money, you are nothing to them anymore. And god forbid you move away and need to get in touch re: your prescription. You get some national customer service center that is completely incapable of putting you in touch with an actual person at the store. And please, Stanton, dont bother replying to this with one of your canned we care about customer service responses. From the reviews I read here, no one believes you!

Very rude phone customer service. My to be son in law waited months for his second pair of glasses and when he did get them they werent his. They are definitely for a woman. The prescription was way too strong and they had huge flowers on the side.

I understand you’re busy because of covid, however, there was no practicing of social distancing, there was about 20 people in line. I work in the health industry and I know how stressful it can be however there is NO REASON it should have taken me two hours for an exam that only lasted ten minutes and to get my prescription. You guys should know by now how many people you can schedule a day and have in there at once. That was absolutely RIDICULOUS.

They broke my Oakley frame didn’t pay me for $140 frame brand new Very disappointed at this place for not paying for damage

Appointment was at 4:10 pm, the staff was so nice and clearly stressed because they were so understaffed. Finally got into see the doctor at 5:40. They couldnt get my prescription printed off so they said they would email it to me. Still have not got my prescription.

Absolutely OUTSTANDING service and experience!!! I would highly recommend this place to anyone in need of glasses, prescription sunglasses, or contact lenses. I purchased all three and the experience couldnt have been smoother or more enjoyable. Mel was fantastic in helping me pick out frames and explaining the different types of lens Coatings Etc necessary to give me the best possible product that best fit MY needs. I received a trial pair of contact lenses immediately after my vision test to get me through the day until mine came in on order. I returned the following day to pick up both my eye glasses and prescription sunglasses as there was less than 24 hours needed to get them prepared. When I returned Mel again helped me properly fit them and adjust them as needed to perfectly fit my individual face. They didnt just hand me two boxes and say have a nice day! I couldnt be more pleased! 10 Stars, thanks Stanton Optical!

Lyn was working at Stanton Optical for about 1 month when I came in to order new glasses. I was her first tri-focal customer. She helped me make great decisions from both a functionality and a fiscal point of view. She was excellent at what she did for me. In fact, when I came to pick up my glasses, I could have been in and out in about 10 minutes. But, I chose to wait for my turn to come up with Lyn because she offered such great service the first time. The new glasses are wonderful, thanks for all your help Lyn.

As a photosensitive person with pain and headaches for LED/florescent lighting finding glasses with the right tints is very important. Stanton Optical did a great job working with me to find the right tints. I got recommendations from WI Council of the Blind and Visually Impaired. Stanton Optical matched the tints I asked for and then when I found that a darker tint would be better they adjusted the tint for me free of charge and got them back to me the same day. Shout out to great customer service! If you go for tinted glasses I recommend getting plastic if possible because they are able to adjust them same day rather than sending out polycarbonate ones to an external lab.

The general manager, Jake, was extremely knowledgeable and helpful! He took time to explain things to me and you could tell he sincerely wants to help people. Dixie at the front desk was friendly and welcoming!

All of the people were upbeat and energetic! Lyn was awesome and provided great services for everything I needed. I was skeptical at first, but it ended up being a great experience that alleviated a lot of my problems!

Ive called their customer service AND store number at least 12 times and was left on hold (up to an hour once)until I gave up. I dont have the time to go into the store right now.

When I went there they did not have a doctor on site they had to have someone do the eye exam through a TV. In my opinion, this is what led to every issue that I had with this company. I went there to get an eye exam which was supposed to be free, and two pairs of glasses. The glasses were going to cost $345 which I paid for up-front with no knowledge of there being any eye exam fee. After roughly two and a half weeks of not hearing from them, I decided to call and check on the status of my glasses. I was told that they were ready and had been ready for about a week. When I went to pick up my glasses, they had made them incorrectly. My eyes did not adjust and I asked them to remake them. They did offer a discount but did not tell me how much it would be. Again after about two and a half more weeks without receiving any notifications or phone calls I decided to call and check on the status of my glasses which they replied that they had been ready for about a week. When I went back the next time to pick up my glasses, they were still made incorrectly and I just asked for my money back. I was only refunded $300 and told that the extra 45 had to go to the eye exam fee. When I said the eye exam was supposed to be free, they stated that it was only free if I bought a pair of glasses to which I replied I tried to buy glasses but they couldnt make them correctly. I did contact customer service and was told that they would still honor the free eye exam if I would go back there on a Sunday when they had an on-site doctor to which I replied that I am done wasting my time and money with them and I want nothing to do with this company ever again. If I had known the company was so corrupt I would have never gone there in the first place and wasted gas and pay them $45 for absolutely nothing stay away from this company.

I love this place! I get my eye exams here every year, I just had an emergency where my glasses broke beyond repair and they helped me very quickly and sent me home with a pair of contacts for free while I await my new frames. Dixie was even able to talk me through the glaucoma test with the puff of air which I usually have to forgo. Seriously, the staff here are so kind and helpful. Thank you Dixie.

After I lost my glasses, I found myself at the Stanton Optical out by East Town. The staff there was extremely helpful and patient (I came in close to closing time!) but the manager Jacob went above and beyond to help me get my glasses ordered. The employees genuinely seem happy to work there and eager to help their customers. Cant wait until my glasses come in !

The staff are very engaging and very welcoming. I had the pleasure to meet Tia (she gave me permission to use her name) on Madison’s east side Stanton optical. She went out of her way to make sure I was having the best experience possible. She helped me pick out frames that not only looked great on my face but also fit my personality. I had a great experience at staton optical on east wash. I forgot to call in so I did a walk in and they just took some basic information. All the staff were so friendly and helpful it made finding my glasses so painless. The wait for getting my eye exam was super quick and efficient. About two years ago I had a pretty rough experience at this location. I thought I would not go back. However, I stopped in recently (Fall 2019) and I was completely surprised with how much they have turned things around! It was a wonderful experience - the entire staff was very friendly, very helpful, and very personable! They definitely have me as a customer back. She assisted me in finding glasses that were not only cute but that would be within my budget. I would give 0 stars if I could. My husband and I warn everyone who mentions glasses to NEVER purchase from Stanton Optical. Do not go here unless you like to gamble with your vision correction, money, and customer service. I had read the reviews previous to choosing this store, and thought its probably not so bad. Well, it is.My husband and I purchased 4 total pairs of glasses in March, 2018. My first time there, I noticed two different customers who were returning their glasses due to poor service. I still didnt take the hint.My husband and I went multiple times prior to choosing all of our frames.There were usually exceptionally long wait times to get any help, and it always appeared short-staffed.I have multiple incidents which describe in detail poor customer service, unreliable automated calls telling us our glasses were ready, and down-right poor products combined with rude employees. I removed the details from this review because I dont mean to point blame at individual employees--but the company does seem to have a broken company system.

Went to pick up my replacement frames today, They were a little busy so I had to wait about 15 mins .My turn comes up and he pops my lenses out of the old frames and into the new, Thanks me for my patience and comps the charge of the replacement frames.(Still Jet lagged from my flight last night so i dont remember the guys name, Sorry. )I have been to this location twice and have always had a good experience with friendly staff .

I had a wonderful experience! My free eye exam with Dr.Tucker went great and was very swift.HUGE THANK YOU to Mel for approaching and helping me every step of the way. She helped me select my bogo deal glasses and gave me wonderful feedback. She also went above and beyond by helping me stick to my budget and saving a ton of money. Was here for over 15 min before someone acknowledged us after we had an apt than once we were acknowledged it took over 15 min to get checked in eye exam it self was good than we wanted over 20 min before someone was able to say they would be with us after we had glasses picked out than once we got someone to help us that person was on the phone with someone else for over 10 mon and didnt listen. To what we were saying once we told the person that was helping us we wanted basic lens he didnt let us look at final bill before we paid and there were extra charges we didnt want on the lens will never go back there after I pick up the glasses in two weeks they kept wanting mom and dad in there as well I see why

Overall the experience was really good. Even though they were very busy they made sure to get to every customer and greet them upon arrival. The staff was very kind and tried to help us in every way possible making sure we got the best deals and got the right glasses we needed and helped make sure the customers were satisfied. The staff is so dedicated to even stay open later than their closing time just to finish helping the customer and make sure everything is fully taken care of. The staff is also friendly and seem to genuinely be kind to customers. If youre looking for a place with many frame options who will go out of their way to make sure you get the best deals so you leave happy Stanton optical on Washington Ave is a great place to go.

Went in there today to get an appointment made for an exam and get new glasses. Everyone was super helpful and nice! They got me in right away, and even helped me figure out what glasses looked best. Kari worked with me so I could afford to get the two pair I really wanted. Over all a great experience and I will be recommending this place to everyone I know! Poor service and their so called 2 year warranty on lenses is bogus ! You still pay 20% of the warranty. I had a pair of lenses that were covered under warranty but my 20% would have cost me 150 bucks on lenses not even 9 months old. I would recommend that you go elsewhere and avoid the headaches and so called deals they claim to have which will cost you in the end !

Ive been wanting a pair of sunglasses, but since Im new to wearing glasses, I decided to look into a pair of Rx sunglasses. Stopped in here to the eastside location of Stanton and Melisa was so helpful from start to finish. She shared that I could pick any frames I wanted and turn them into sunglasses, she helped me make sense of my insurance plan and helped me save money in the end. I just picked up my new sunglasses this Sunday and I LOVE them! Exactly what I wanted! Thank you Melisa and thank you Stanton Optical!

Took my son to another location and was told he couldnt get his glasses for two weeks. Because this wait was too long, I reached out two Madison East to see if they could help me. Dixie and Mel understood my need and found a solution to get the glasses within 48 hours. There customer service was over the top!

My experience was great. I went in just looking and had no idea what I wanted. They were very helpful in picking out glasses I liked, so much so, I ended up getting 2 new pair. They also have good pricing too, when youre able to take advantage of a sale or promotion.

My story with this place goes back to two years ago when I got my first pair of glasses and the staff were super nice. I honestly couldn’t tell you how nice they were! Today I walked in with the intention of getting an eye exam to buy my glasses online considering how expensive they can be but the staff were really nice and the Manager Jake did everything he could so I wouldn’t leave unhappy! I ended up getting my new glasses there instead of buying them online! Great staff and great service!

I had a great experience at Stanton Optical. I was very impressed with the professionalism and customer service. From the initial phone call to make an appointment, to the way that Jessica greeted and professionally prompted me to sign in, took me to the pre-exam room, to the doctor who gave me the eye exam, to Rachael who was patient and instrumental in helping me choose frames and a few days later to pick up my glasses, Kari.My appointment was at 10am. It was short and thorough. The hard part was picking out frames. After 3 years with the same frames I wanted to update my style. I couldnt have done it without Rachael. Even though she was the only one on the floor and had to step away to help some other customers, she made it as seamless an experience as she could.When I picked up my glasses late Saturday afternoon Kari was very friendly and make the adjustments quickly. Great customer service!I recommend Stanton Optical to anyone who needs glasses. Theyve got my business.

Had an amazing experience tonight at Stanton optical. My 7 year old son needed his first pair of glasses and he is a high energy boy with limited ability to calm himself or control himself... they worked so well with him and the doctor was very patient and helpful in making the experience even better. When it came to picking out frames the staff were friendly and helpful and made me feel like what I cared about most mattered. My son loved the experience as well. It was very affordable and reasonable in choices and have a great selection for everyone. Will definitely be going back when my next eye exam is due!

Stanton went above and beyond helping me with my selection and purchase. From the exam to the frame options, everything went better than expected. I live on a limited income being a freelance graphic designer--some months are easier than others, but Stanton worked with me from beginning to end and I left knowing I was treated well, the people there care for their clients and customers, the prices were fair, and it was truly an awesome experience.

They were running a little behind and said since they were behind that they would only do 2 out of 4 preliminary testing. Then there is no optometrist onsite just virtual. The virtual doctor was short and I felt rushed. You don’t get to talk to them after and ask questions. We then had to wait about an hour to talk to someone about frames. The lady who helped us was very nice though.

I think his name was Mark, but he was the new manager there and was very helpful and knowledgable. My mom and I went there to get my mom new glasses and waited quite some time before I went up to someone to ask for help. This was on a Saturday though, so that’s more understandable. My mom picked up her glasses and they didn’t adjust them to her face or anything, so we went back to get them adjusted and that’s when we met the new manager. Him and the other lady were extremely helpful and nice. He even gave us some free lens cleaner kits!

Buyer beware - worst experience ever. The sales team is incredibly aggressive,and that should have been my first red flag. I should have run out of there. Ive worn glasses since I was 9 years old, and I have a lot of experience in these places, so I really dont know why I let them hook me in. I bought 2 pairs of glasses, one of which I cannot wear. Ive been in there 8 times - 8 times! - and I still cant wear these glasses. Its like looking through a fish bowl. They clearly do not know what theyre doing in that lab. And dont get me started on the optometrists. They must have gotten their degrees online. I got 2 different Rxs, the first of which was way, way off. The second was a little better, but this is my vision, it needs to be done right! I ended up going to Dean to get that taken care of. Regarding the glasses issue, one of the sales people told me over the phone that I could just bring them in and get a refund - satisfaction guaranteed - but when I came in to do so, the manager literally laughed and said, no that is not our policy, and when he confronted the sales person who told me that, the sales person denied telling me that. What??!! That was positively infuriating. At this point, I give up. Im just not going in there again. The manager did give me $50 back, so I basically spent $150 on a pair of mediocre Rx sunglasses. The other ones are going in the trash. There are many, many other establishments for buying glasses, so I cant advise highly enough to go elsewhere.

I called to set up an appointment after seeing a promo on your website for 2 complete pairs of glasses and an eye exam for $59.99. I called in and asked about it and was told the same thing. When I came in, I was told I had to pay $30 up front for the exam, and that the $30 would be applied as a credit off the final price of the glasses. After the exam, I chose my frames, and was told by Michael that the total came to $199. I brought up the promotion again, and was told that it only applied to a total of 18 (really ugly) frames throughout the entire store. I requested a copy of my prescription as this was not what is on the site, or what I was told over the phone. Michael then said that he could get me the glasses I wanted for a total of $65.84. I paid for them and was told to come back in an hour and a half. 3 hours later, I went in to pick up the glasses (they werent ready) and ask why I was charged $95.84, and what happened to the $30 from the eye exam. Michael then told me that the credit was already applied and that the total was $95.84 without the $30 credit. More clarity on the promotion would be ideal, and maybe an * somewhere on the page to let customers know that theres fine print. So unless you want really thick 70s style frames, Id go somewhere else.

Getting glasses/contacts has always seemed more of a chore than anything until I visited. They got to know me as a person to help pick out the best frame for me. The eye doctor taught how to make sure my contacts were straight. ( thats a real thing). Top notch customer service and professionalism. 100% recommended.

Today was my first time coming here. Kari was of great assistance to my mother & I. She was very understanding & considerate, went over everything & actually made sure we understood it. I will definitely be coming here more often thanks to her. We really appreciated you today Kari.

My entire experience was horrible. To start, I receive numerous automated calls reminding me days before of my appointment when one call or email would have sufficed. The messages one my phone also told me to arrive 15 minutes early to my appointment. This would have been fine but my appointment was right when the office opened and they do not open their doors 15 minutes early. Third, when I called and made my appointment I asked how long it would take. The receptionist told me the whole visit would take 15 minutes. I questioned this, and she confirmed that the exam and selecting glasses would only take 15 minutes. My actual appointment took AN HOUR AND A HALF! The staff was very grumpy and unwelcoming in general. My last complaint is that I came in for the free eye exam and two pairs of glasses for their advertised price of $69.00. After everything was said and done, I paid $400.00.

I love this place! I have purchased over 10 pair of frames from here due to their incredible buy one get one deal.The staff helps you pick out the frames that suit you best and are honest about their opinions. Kari was most helpful, and didnt push me into more expensive options - it made me feel comfortable and valued. Thanks, Stanton Optical!

I had a great experience at the East side location. While I was waiting for the person I needed to be done with her current client I had almost every single employee ask me if I had been helped. When it was my turn in line to look at glasses I was amazed at the selection. I explained what I was looking for and got it! Kari helped me find what I wanted and had me checked out and ready to go with all of the information I needed in less then an hour even though I didnt have an appointment. She was very helpful and knew how to do her job correctly and within good time. I would highly recommend them.

Ive now had 3 unsatisfactory experiences with Stanton optical. The first time their insurance specialist panicked while verifying my coverage and thrust the phone at me to do her job...so I verified my own insurance and relayed the info to Stanton. The second time my same day glasses took two weeks and they neglected to tell me when they were ready. The third time (today) I took in two pair of warrantied glasses that started having issues within weeks of purchase and was told Id have to pay an additional $17.00 to have them repaired.Never. Going. Back. 😡

This store was absolutely awesome! Great customer service. The best eye exam and time spent at a optical center by far. I will 100% come back to this store from now on !!!

WOW. I was seen quickly, the staff went out of their way to help me: Rachel helped me decide on which frame worked best for my face. My glasses were ready super quick, and I passed her again in the parking lot as she was leaving, so she came back in to bring my glasses to me for a fitting (off the clock). Amber was adept at doing my fitting (fit the after the first adjustment!) and Carrie listened to my specific needs and helped me to get the right glasses for my price range.I cant say enough great things about my experience, and I will return!

I had a wonderful experience at Stanton Optical! I hadnt had an eye exam in a while, and was long overdue for a new pair of glasses as well, so I stopped by and set up an appointment for an eye exam. The exam was very quick and efficient, it was easy to make an appointment, and there was a very wide selection of frames to choose from. All of the employees were kind, friendly, and helpful, especially Kari, who helped me decide which frames suited me best. My new glasses were ready for pickup within a few hours of my paying for them. I would heartily recommend Stanton Optical for anyone in need of new glasses or due for an eye exam.

Poor college student here. I would go back to Stanton Optical in a heart beat. The staff that I worked with were enthusiastic and considerate when it came to my budget. They worked with me to find great looking glasses with top of the notch lenses at minimal cost. If you value great deals with a high end results, Stanton Optical in the place for you. I will be back there. Their glasses have all lasted me 5+ years with hard wear and tear. Great experience, I will be a life long customer.

My husband and I had a great experience at Stanton with Jennifer. She and the rest of the staff were wonderful! Our experience was quick, convenient and the prices were great. We would definitely recommend Stanton to everyone.

Everyone I encountered at this location, from front staff, to the doctors assistant to the doctor herself, was absolutely wonderful. Very nice, super professional. Jake the store manager (I believe?) was terrific - funny AND helpful. I got a great price on contacts and a pair of glasses (and Im multi focal for both, so the buy one get one deals never work for me, and at other Optical Ive been to around town - the prices got pretty astronomical) I will 100% be back at this location and highly recommend it. One note - DEFINITELY make an appointment! Lots of walk inside mid afternoon and much longer waits than what I had coming in a little eariler and with an appointment

They DO NOT answer their phone. Was also given numbers that dont work. Good luck trying to get a hold of anyone. The automatic deal to try and find out if glasses are ready. WILL NEVER GO TO THEM AGAIN!! Once they make the sale they do not care.

I needed emergency glasses an they came through with flying colors. I was in and out with new glasses in 30 min. I strongly recommend Stanton optical. Great staff

On Saturday, 6/18/16 I went in to get an eye exam and purchase new contacts and eyeglasses using my flex account. I was helped by Jennifer Dvorak. She was very attentive, patient, and professional. She was awesome! I came back to get my glasses and contacts a few weeks later, and again she helped me adjust them. I really appreciate getting great customer service! Thank you Jennifer.

Excellent experience. The doctor took time to ask me about my past eye history and answered all my questions. The selection of frames is great and the prices are good. I worked with Kari R. in picking out glasses and considering my options. She helped me with my insurance and went over all the possible options I had with using the insurance. She was extremely friendly and helpful. I enjoyed working with her.

I recently purchased some Ray Ban sunglasses online and when they came they were extremely crooked. I went to a different eyewear place and they refused to align them since “they could be counterfeit Ray Bans” and because I didn’t buy them there. I bid my adieu, spent a couple of hours replaying the conversation in my head and coming up with amazing retorts that were originally never delivered, and eventually ended up at Stanton Optical. Fully prepared to have a similar conversation, I was greeted in a completely opposite manner. Tia was amazing and even though she was incredibly busy, she adjusted them free of charge. They have a new customer now and maybe I will Pretty Woman that other eyewear place because they deserve it.

The staff was so amazing for me here at Stanton Optical. Mel was so amazing. I couldn’t ask for better service.
