Hands down best coffee in the city. They roast their own beans and they really know what theyre doing. Quality ingredients, and well made drinks. Some of the best espresso Ive had outside of Europe, the barristas know what theyre doing. Many of them have worked their for years (they keep employees, which says something). The granola is fantastic, and I LOVE the cherry almond scone. Comfy chairs, great ambiance, cool regulars. Its by far my favorite place to get coffee in the city.
Best spicy moka in Towne.☕🌶️❤️
Best coffee! Friendly staff, awesome scones. Highly recommend this place!!
Coffee is great. Staff is always helpful and quick. They sell their beans too. Love the Ethiopian Sunshine.
Great coffee, great service.
Coffee so good it will ruin you for any place else. Absolutely the BEST coffee in town! Hands Down
Love EVP! Great beans, w/new types all the time. Friendly neighborhood place!
Based on what Id read, EVP is the place to go. Coffee was solid - staff seems a bit disjointed.
Very best in town
I have been her only a half dozen times but always Great coffee brew, friendly. Parking is not Great but you can walk a block.
Small and not much indoor seating (thanks to Covid-19, of course). Four or five small tables outside in a small patio area. Very noisy outside, since this place is right on East Wash (Hwy 151) at a busy intersection. Terrific coffee tho.
Small, but super friendly service! I can get overwhelmed at coffee shops as I dont frequent them often, but the employee at the counter was very helpful and helping me decide!
I love that their coffee is locally roasted. Their medium sumatra beans are the best.
EVP is my go to coffee place. I treat myself once per week here and love it. The staff are nice, down to earth and know how to make a real drink. This location can get busy, and the staff handles the lines with ease and the customers never seem to mind when there is a wait. Its a homey little shop.
Best coffee in town. Hands down: Brew and Beans
Great coffee and homemade bakery treats!
Took too much time to flirt with my friend
Great local Madison coffee house, drinks and beans available. Great place to stop in and grab a drink to go, or even nicer to just stop and sit. Support our smaller local businesses!
This place was great. It was super quiet when I was there though so that was mildly uncomfortable. The prices were way lower than Starbucks and they had a dairy free milk option for me which was really great. Staff was friendly and our interaction was brief which was honestly pretty ideal
This was my favorite place to get coffee until they refuse to open back up now, were in phase two and everything is open except you guys, get it together your losing business and what should be considered valued customers
I usually enjoy stopping here in the morning on my way to work, generally 5 stars. Mostly everyone is really nice.Today during the hustle of the morning the lovely lady who helped me forgot the chocolate in my mocha. It wasn’t a big deal and I stopped in after work to see if I could get a remake. I don’t know after this experience if I ever want to stop here again thank you to the older balding gentleman who was incredibly rude to me.I was nice and greeted him, said hello and explain the situation. He made my drink for me and then proceeded to say “I’ve heard about you people, know that this will be the last time.”I have never had a problem to stop in again so I was confused by what he meant and I said that.He said nothing and walked away to the back room. I was very confused and so I reiterated, said I apologize for the confusion I don’t know what you mean I hope you had a good day. His response was, “Yep sure you don’t, thank you and have great day.”Worst customer service I have received in a very long time. He was so rude and his demeanor was very aggressive towards me, as a customer. Not only that but as regular for the last year and a full punch card my experience with this person has now really damaged my view of the business.
Loved my iced decaf latte (almond milk)! Service was friendly and fast. Atmosphere is chill and relaxing. considering its right on E. Wash the traffic noise isnt too bad! Thanks. I will return when Im in the neighborhood.
Im a big fan of EVP. Its out of my way, so I only stop there if Im in the area, and Im always pleased. The interior is what Id call perfect for a coffee shop. It has big windows, yet it doesnt feel bright inside. It makes for a very cozy feel. The coffee is always perfect, and this will remain my go-to coffee stop when Im on the near east side.
Great coffee. Good atmosphere. My americano was perfect. Staff very friendly. Have been back many times.
Gives off strong neighborhood coffee shop vibes with a cozy interior. Seemed like a place that has a bunch of regulars, as it looked like the barista recognized a lot of the customers that came in while I was there. In addition to coffee, theres a small baked goods display and a fridge that had some prepared wraps. Im no coffee expert so I cant say if my cup of coffee was particularly great or not, but it was good enough for me. Theres some outdoor seating here as well.
The best spicy mocha cappuccino in Madison. Really my favorite coffee and it is just slightly less expensive than all of the others but its better. So I just keep coming back over and over again. The wait is not long and the atmosphere chill and cozy. I have had different Baristas and they are all wonderful and kind. A Madison local must.
Best local coffee roaster Ive encountered. They roast fresh practically every day.
EVP has a great vibe, the service is always very quick, and its overall everything youd want and need out of a small coffee joint. The bathrooms are clean and you dont have to ask the employees for a key. Theres a surprisingly large selection of pastries, which some go quickly, but there will usually always be something for you to satisfy you craving. The prices are also pretty cheap, relative to other coffee places. Ive also always had an easy time ordering from whoevers working at the time, theyve always been friendly and willing to chat, though Ive never actually tried to strike up conversation, just seen it. Now the only downside to this place is that during peak hours, it may be a bit hard to find a seat, especially with an outlet, but they have outdoor seating which is a plus. For Madison coffee shops, this place is one of my favorites. Just remember that if you pay with card to verbally add a tip before they swipe/insert your card!
Great coffee, might even say best in Madison. Great staff too!
If you like coffee and you havent been to EVP, then you havent liked coffee for long or been to Madison for long so just go ahead and change that ok? Dont take it personally. Im just trying to say theyre doing it right. Now let me be specific. First, they got that 1997, friends vibe going on, with leather couches from about that time, and I suspect before friends was a cool thing. So theyre like pre Starbucks basically. And they roast the beans right back there. Super friendly vibe, but old style. Like, hey how ya doing Barb, is your dog liking the new kibble? Like, pre-friends aged people being friendly.
Cool place! Friendly, local vibe, and stellar breve latte. Thanks!
Just around the coffee - great friendly and knowledgeable baristas who know how to make coffee. They have long term employees so it is nice to see the familiar faces. Depending on the time of day the ambiance is anything between mellow and overly-packed. They roast on site the best ones IMHO are Camp Fire and Bali but you can only get Bali a few weeks out of the year. The afternoon soup and house made bakery is surprisingly good, old school Madison vibe.
Very comfy. Wi-Fi was full w only 7 people in the place.
Go here on a Saturday morning and have nick make you a latte. Industrial feel shop and nice freshly roasted drip coffee! They tend to over roast their dark roasts but their Africa origins are always good.
Great coffee, great atmosphere. It has a really cozy feel.
The ONLY place I will purchase coffee from in Madison. Seriously. Once you have had the best, you wont want the rest! Im not kidding! Really great folks working there from the neighborhood. Try their cinnamon rolls... Mmmmm.
Best coffee in town, bar none. What more needs to be said?
Literally the only place I ever get coffee in Madison, both beans & brewed. If you like strong coffee theres nowhere Ive been in the world that compares, so now whenever I go out on the road I stock up on beans! For me the lighter the roast the better, so with that in mind I highly recommend the Tanzanian Peaberry or any of the Ethiopia roasts. 5 stars!
Super friendly staff and a yummy gluten free scone.
Best coffee on the near east side. The high quality at EVP comes naturally and not with the ultra hip atmosphere many shops go for these days. Nice art on the walls, plenty of characters come through all the time, good for reading, studying, chatting, debating. Dogs welcome!
A great Local coffee shop. I have been stopping here for 15 years for Coffee. Friendly Service and the best coffee in Madison.
Best coffee in Madison. Great for catering early morning meetings. You have to pick up but you can do so at any of their locations and its worth it.
Always great coffee and super chill environment for reading, studying, talking with friends, etc.Love the free refills and they always have a couple of different blends to try.Love that they have a punch card as well.
Friendly baristas, excellent Ethiopian decaf... Looking forward to trying their Mexican roast as well...
Conveniently located for quick coffee ☕
Yummy Chai Tea. Reasonable prices. Love the smell coffee! Tiny parking lot. May have to park in street.
Nice place to stop for a good cup of coffee, pleasant conversation or just to relax and read the morning paper.
Cute little coffee shop with a fairly good variety, although not as much to choose from compared to some other places. The coffee I had was delightful though and I would come back again
Great lattes! Not to mention friendly, generous, & good to the community.
Cozy spot for enjoying conversation, meetings or just quietly enjoying a hearty brew and some reading material.
A quiet little spot with great brewed coffee and friendly service.
Andy was super friendly and the coffee was amazing!
I love EVP. I love the patio and the Ethiopian coffee. Actually, all of their roasts are good, as are their pastries!
Staff is so friendly and knowledgeable. Local shop, local feel. No pour over, but nice drip and espresso variety.
Great coffee, friendly service. Favorite bottomless coffee in town. Great danish that are usually gone by the time I roll out of bed.
Panama grown coffee. EXCELLENT. A CUP AN EVEN $2. SWEET.
Good coffee. Friendly baristas
The coffee was decent. The process were standard. The service was quick, but I felt like I was being rushed out and there was no line. Bad vibes.
Always delicious coffee and friendly knowledgeable staff. The only place to go for coffee in madtown.
Kind folks and great coffee! Pleasantly surprised by the intensity of both.
Really kind lady helped me out with a great air of good humor, great drink and cozy little cafe!
EVP is awesome. A must visit in Madison!
Amazing coffee, roasted on site! Excellent, friendly baristas and lots of local flavor. Evp has been a Madison coffeehouse staple for almost 20 years.
No frills coffee-gills kinda place. Best coffee, best prices.
Cozy atmosphere. Independently owned. Very nice people.
Worst iced coffee ever. Truly undrinklable. Sour and pungent. Sad.
Decent place to grab a cup of coffee. The espresso beverages are okay and the tea selection is vast. Theres a variety of pastries available every day and a soup of the day for lunch.
Good coffee and a pleasant place to hang out, news papers to read and Wi-Fi
Homey, quiet, and Tammy really cares about every friend that enters. Coffee and pastry hit the spot.
The EVP on East Washington is great if your white in my experience
Hands down, absolutely the BEST coffee shop with the BEST coffee in town and they roast the best beans right here in Madison. I cannot get enough of it, everyday i get coffee here is a good day!
Always good service and very good coffee
Great coffee and even better staff. I love EVP
I am a big fan of this coffee shop. They cell some of the best bakery in all of Madison hands down!
Hands down the best coffee in Madison. Possibly the best iced coffee anywhere.
Good coffee. Friendly staff. I cant ask for more than that.
Its convenient and I liked the coffee, but Ive stopped coming here because theres always someone smoking on the patio. Disgusting.
Iced coffee with shot of espresso very good! Will be back
Delicious menu. Nice aroma.
Friendly and helpful batista Jen. Great bottomless cup to try all the drip coffees. Someones post about the hoMeyer 60s feel in an industrial style is noted.
Could use a dust job
Best place for the best coffee in town.
Very relaxed atmosphere, great coffee and hi speed wifi. What more do you need?
Best cold brew in Madison
Waitress dropped food on floor and then offered it to mry.
Local coffeeshop atmosphere. coffee is pre-brewed and kept in carafes by the counter. I had a double shot 12oz Americano, which was light in comparison to most Americanos. Service was fast, would recommend adding shots for a stronger cup.
Coffee is good, and for the most part they have awesome service. However they have the worst internet connection in all the coffee shops inMadison! Too bad its one of my favs
This coffee chain isnt so bad. If you enjoy a liberal 60s atmosphere, this is the place to go.If youre a techie and enjoy high-speed internet, the download speeds are *just* fast enough for it to be tolerable (Connection speeds to Chicago: .32 mbps download speed, .59mbps upload speed). You cant fault for the coffee shop for this, unless of course, you want to pay more for your coffee. There could be more variety in their coffee syrups, but if youre like Dennis Leary and just want coffee flavored coffee, then it shouldnt matter.
Awesome coffee shop!!! Great workers! Good prices!
Love the coffee and the friendly and familiar service.
Excellent! Great coffee and friendly staff 😊
Weekend barista is really proficient.
Love the Ethiopian coffee they have here. Highly friendly staff!
Great atmosphere. Several options of black coffee ready to pour.
Delicious mocha and great WiFi!
