I was on Odana road looking for some coffee and found Cafe Maya.I decided to order a Breakfast Burrito and a coffee. The Burrito was simple. Eggs, beans and cheese. Pressed in a panini press. It came with a salsa verde. Unfortunately, I didnt find it to be very flavorful. I hope there are better things on the menu. The coffee tasted over roasted and a little on the burnt side. There was no cream at the counter, so I was able to practice my Spanish and ask for milk!Service was very friendly and prompt.
Cafe Maya has quickly become one of my favorite coffee shops in Madison. Im normally not big on coffee (tea fan here) but I LOVE Cafe Mayas coffee. Its so smooth and delish. I love the Mocha with hazelnut. Their tea is fantastic as well. The baristas are super friendly and quick 👍👍🏻👍🏼👍🏽👍🏾👍🏿 Check em out!
A great place to grab coffee, tea or something to eat. Very clean and helpful staff. Everything was socially distanced.
Loved it. I got the turkey spinach on a croissant and i ate it so fast I forgot to take a photo. I love Latinos and the Hispanic community and this is the first Latino cafe Ive been to in the US and I loved it. Comfy. Looks like they have a commercial printer for folks who want to come in and use this as an office space.
Highly recommend the Mocha Maya latte. Delicious! Staff is always friendly and plenty of room to meet with friends at tables for four or more. Or just relax on your own in a comfy chair. Also have a childrens nook with chalk board, books and toys.
This is what a cafe/coffee house is supposed be. Great coffee. Great service. Great atmosphere and mostly the nicest people running it. I come and hang out for hours because they have created such a lovely place to relax and enjoy yourself.
Poor customer service. Twice I have arrived during their business hours and they were closed. Today they had the doors locked at 4:40 when they are open until 5pm. I staff member said he wouldn’t serve me because they close soon when I approached the door. I made the effort to drive to your business at least provide reliable hours.
Great iced latte. Friendly staff with easy access off of Whitney way!
If youre in a rush and looking for more than just a basic coffee, this wont be your place. If youve got some time, and especially if you appreciate a good breakfast burrito, I highly recommend swinging by Cafe Maya.
A cute little cafe on the west side of Madison! I found it because I get my haircut next door. I love it. The staff is wonderful and super helpful. I tip them extra every time since they are so quick and thoughtful. I have tried just about everything on the menu and have yet to find something I dont love.Fantastic homemade sandwiches, bakery goods, coffee, and smoothies. I enjoy my frequent visits to this local cafe. Its family friendly. Even has a kid play area. And they sell art on display by local artists. This place is one of Madisons best!
Really good food and drinks, and excellent service! The staff was so nice! 10/10 would recommend. I will definitely be coming back here!
Im from an hour out of town, and I love that my kids do so much in this area, because Cafe Maya is amazing. The coffee is delicious - the hot chocolate is even better, the staff are smart and helpful, the baked goods are tasty if not quite on part with the coffee, and its spacious enough that if I go there with kids they dont interfere with others enjoyment of their time. This is one of my favorite places to be.
My husband and I visit Cafe Maya regularly, and we love it. We get Cafe de Olla which is a delicious spiced coffee, and truffles which are inexpensive and delicious. Weve had the pastries a couple times and they are awesome.
I always make time to stop in here when I am passing through the area. Their coffee and espresso drinks are great as well as their pastries. Its a wonderful small business that I am proud to support. Highly recommend stopping in to try the Chocolate Maya or Chai Latte, both are delicious.
Very cute. Id recommend getting one of their specialty sandwiches. Also, use the groupon deal!
Coffee is good but not amazing. In fact thats true about most things about Café Maya. I go there to support local, small business. They serve the coffee in glass mason jar mugs. I like my coffee pretty hot, so I feel like I need to drink fast before it cools off too much. And the layout isnt the best for sensitive conversations, just FYI. There are no real nooks or secluded places.
Everytime I try going to this place they’re closed before their posted hours
Nice place. Good coffee, interesting menu. The baked goods are fine, nothing special, though. Nice friendly staff. Glad I stopped by there.
Very sweet staff, delicious coffee (try the cafe de olla if you never have). Nice space to work quietly.
Great local coffee stop with friendly staff; comfortable tables to chat or study, and a few hightops if you like to stand while you work. Warm up with a chocolate Maya or horchatté (latté made with horchata). Good soups on weekdays, and a nice selection of breakfast and lunch sandwiches and wraps.
I had very high expectations with all the press I see for this place but the coffee was a total let down ☹️. The espresso was very bitter, either an extra dark roast or an unfortunate pull. It tasted like drip that was past its prime. The service was fine, I might try again if they reach out
Just had lunch here for the first time and it was amazing!!! The Maya sandwich was incredible, and the people who run it are very friendly. Some of the best food Ive had in a long time. Im already planning my next visit!
I always get the Mocha Maya, its delicious! The staff is all amazing and I feel so welcome there.
Always friendly, great coffee.
Pretty good. The breakfast quesadilla was fine. Will go back but will try a coffee next time. Good Groupon deal!
Good coffee, but the toasted bagel took a strangely long time to get toasted...and come out not all that done. Offering day-old baked goods for very cheap is nice though.
Great sandwiches and coffee! The staff is very helpful and friendly. Service is quick.
I went into Cafe Maya for the first time today and was really craving a magic coffee. Magic coffee is never at any cafe so I explained what it was and asked about some options Cafe Maya had. The employees were very happy to help and I ordered cafe de olla. It. Was. Delicious. The atmosphere was super chill inside. This place is a gem.
Good service. The food is healthy and really good. My favorite things from here are the double chocolate muffin and horchata,,,
Unassuming and more variety than meets the eye
Rating this before I have even eaten my sandwich. The gentleman behind the counter was fantastic. Friendly, helpful, and upbeat.Im sure Ill enjoy the chai latte and turkey sandwich
Met a close friend their for coffee and conversation. Coffee selection was very good
I had a latte there for the first time today and it was SO good. One of my new favorite coffee places in Madison.
Awesome coffee good foods. Pleasant atmosphere.Authentic Mayans here. Legal and documented...So dont worry
Mexican coffee shop, great variety of beverages including cafe de Olla.
Mocha Maya, every time. Burrito aint bad either.
Nice guys and good drinks, with quality ingredients. The ambiance is a little strip mall for my taste. But it is, after all, in a strip mall. So, what do you expect?
I love this place. Good food, good coffee, and the guys who run the shop are very sweet and welcoming. A favorite place of mine to sit, write, and plan my day.
Excellent coffee. Very quiet. Their veggie croissant was very good.
Try the horchatte! So delicious. Comfy seating, nice atmosphere. There’s a printer too.
I stopped by for a quick bite around lunch and I was not disappointed with the food or coffee!
Excellent horchatte (latte made with horchata) and breakfast croissant. Ill definitely recommend
Great coffee shop that also serves breakfast and lunch. They have a wonderful variety of hot and cold beverages and pastries to go with them
Service was very poor and unfriendly. When my sandwich was being prepared ingredients were taken out of Tupperware containers that were sitting out at room temp. All of the ingredients that were supposed to be on the sandwich was not included! I will not be going back
Awesome food and friendly staff!
Great coffee, fast, and friendly staff. I forgot my wallet one morning, they noticed my extreme need for caffeine and comped my latte until the next time I came in. Wonderful experience.
I would definitely recommend this café to others. It is a small cozy and tropical atmosphere. The staff made it a very nice place to be. The food here is very fresh and tasty! The horchatte I got was really good too! They also have a little kiddie corner with toys and books for children. Will definitely be back with friends for a nice little breakfast!
Had black coffee and bagel sandwich both were very good.
Friendly staff, delicious latte, excellent variety of tasty sandwiches!
God breakfast, GREAT customer services. Cozy place. Totally recommend.
Pesto Feta sandwich with turkey was delicious, hot, and was served quickly. Definitely recommend for your lunch break.
Love the horchata! It reminded me of being in Central America. Friendly service.
Exquisite coffee spot with artisan one of a kind decorations sets this quaint cafe apart - beautiful outdoor seating also. Do try breakfast and a smoothie.
They even have a printer available to print your work. Yummy coffee, nice service.
Great food and even nicer employees one of my favorite places to eat, and its so much better than Starbucks
Cozy cafe, great sandwiches at fair prices. Often unique coffee and lattes, overall good experience!
I had a hot horchatte at Cafe Maya and some kind of sandwich, both were delicious and the staff was very nice and helpful during my visit.
Had a non dairy Cafe Maya. Like Mexican hot chocolate. Delicious!
Friendly, fast service. Quality tastey food and delicious coffee. White mocha and horchata is a must everytime.
The Maya mocha is phenomenal, and the horchatte is a close second. Very friendly staff and a sunny, clean cafe make this one of my favorite cafes on the west side.
Great atmosphere, great coffee. Staff is always nice and personable; likley to remember you from past visits.
Visited at 6:30 a m was not open... So I went elsewhere
Nice atmosphere, cordial and helpful staff 😊
These guys are simply the friendliest baristas Ive ever encountered.
The coffee was good. The sandwich also good but was a little on the high priced side.
The best and only place to get your coffee.
Wonderful little cafe with very friendly service. Definitely worth a visit
Iced Mocha -- So Good!
Very nice place with excellent food, coffee and service.
Great environment, but the menu could use a facelift.
Met a coworker here for a breakfast meeting. Tasty food and I enjoyed my chai latte.
Great people. Good attention, reasonable prices and, especially, good products.
Great little spot for a quick bite on the west side. The coffee and espresso is fantastic!
Staff is very friendly, coffee is delicious. They have little truffles by the cash register for like 50 cents that are absurdly delicious.
Love the vibe, the drinks, the food. Love it all.
5yo while eating croissant breakfast: Its just too good.
I paid $5 for a Carmel frappe. I will routinely pay this at Starbucks, but the drink was so subpar, it warranted a review. In addition to being way overpriced, the cup was much less than the advertised 20oz. The kid making it was clearly training, but added the wrong ingredients (per other employee there) the first time, melted the second cup and ran back and forth for several minutes looking for supplies to accomplish syrup + pre brewed coffee + something called drink base. It tastes awful. Too sweet and burnt at the same time. And this is from someone who likes Starbucks... I wont be back there again.
Super nice people, super delicious food and drinks!
Liked horchata and pesto sandwich was great as well. Felt it was bit pricier though.
Cafe Maya is an improvement over the previous coffee shop that was here. They have good fast wifi, but I would like to see a few more food options in the morning.
Good coffee, friendly staff, cozy atmosphere
Mocha Maya was amazing. Very distinctive blend.
Staff waa helpful, very friendly. Had a mocha that was ok. I would give it another chance.
The food here is great, the lattes were pretty weak both times I visited. The service was friendly. Id like to try some of their specialty drinks next time.
Delicious espresso and sandwich. Friendly staff.
Yum! The food is so good!
Very nice, great croissants
While the food is still a work in progress, the redesigned interior is definitely worth checking out if you are looking for a welcoming space to hang on the West Side. While I recognized the layout of the former tenant of the space, the new occupant completely reinvigorated the interior. The walls, which received a fresh coat of taupe paint, now feature vividly colored artwork that immediately caught my eye as I entered the restaurant. Coupled with the accent lighting, I initially thought I stepped into an art gallery. While the shop could use more comfy chairs, there is plenty of available seating and has a strong Wi-Fi signal. The Mexican-themed music that gently played over the speakers added to the relaxed ambiance. In the summer months, there is an outdoor patio. For those of you looking for a location to set up a base of mobile operations on the West Side, Café Maya is a solid option. In addition to the usual variety of hot and cold coffee-based drinks, the shop also offers other tempting beverage options like fruit smoothies, horchata, coffee floats and Mexican hot chocolate. The pastry selections, though somewhat picked over when I arrived in the early afternoon, include freshly baked croissants, cookies and scones. In addition to waffles and oatmeal, Café Maya offers a variety of sandwiches on sourdough bread or croissants.I elected to go with the eponymous Maya Sandwich (Chicken, smoked bacon, mozzarella, avocado, red onions, tomatoes with a chipotle ranch dressing) for $9, which included a small spinach salad lightly dressed with a bright honey mustard vinaigrette. The thinly sliced bread had a difficult time containing the bounty of fillings generously supplied by the kitchen. While the bread did offer plenty of flavor, the sandwich would have benefited from a thicker slice and more time in the toaster. The chicken was moist, but needed a dash of salt to amp up the flavor. While the chipotle ranch provided a pleasant kick, the rest of the ingredients felt like standard, institutional grade quality. Especially disappointing was the super thin bacon that provided almost no smoked flavor. Overall, my sandwich was a work in progress, but there is potential as the kitchen fine tunes its offerings. Still, its far superior to any of the chain sandwich shops that have proliferated on the West Side.I also purchased a blueberry scone to go. While it did not have much of an exterior crunch, the inside was moist, tender and flakey with a subtle natural sweetness.Id be remiss if I didnt mention my über enthusiastic server. While Café Maya providers counter service, it didnt preclude him from checking in on me from time to time. He also provided a thorough summary of the sandwich offerings when I mentioned this was my first visit to the restaurant. While my sandwich was a solid three stars, the relaxed setting, the attentive service and the fine baked goods push the overall rating to four stars.
Cozy, good coffee with some yummy munchies.
Great food! Little longer on a wait then other coffee shops.
Not sure their 16 oz mason jar coffee drinks are actually 16 ounces. I had the breakfast burrito and it was OK.
Fusion of American & Mexican style drinks.
Mocha was delicious, and baristas were very friendly
Liked the new owners and breakfast was good
Always friendly and helpful baristas.
Only coffee bistro in area so in a way it draws a captive audiance. Coffee creations standard. Bakery products stale on my 2 visits. Cant assess lunch because kitchen closed at the time.
Need to list the ingredients in horchata.Brought and didnt know it had canned milk and the attendant put too much cinnamon on the top.
Breakfast was great, the Mocha Maya was delicious!
