I have been taking my car to Jensens since the early 80s. The mechanics own it and they havent changed a bit. They are very helpful, knowledgeable, and trustworthy.
I trust this mechanic. Keeps my car maintained. Always reasonable fixes and price reasonable too. Been using this place for a decade.
I went in for an estimate to replace my driver-side window and I was quoted almost $400. I thought this was crazy since I just paid $700 for someone to take off my ENTIRE front end to replace some part and do a bunch of other things.I found a replacement mirror online for $25. The mechanic (very sweet guy) then told me that they would be using the original Toyota part. I looked it up, it runs about $180. Fine, but then I thought, where is the other $220 coming from?!I decided to buy the part and do it myself, it’s an exterior part, it can’t be THAT hard...I looked up a YouTube video. It was 10 mins long, I watched it a couple times. My part arrived 3 days later. It took me all of 30 MINUTES to replace the mirror with BARELY looking at the YouTube video. The tools I needed were super generic, most people have them if they have any sort of tool box.I get that fixing cars can be hard, time-consuming and expensive. But charging $220 for labor is just robbery! This is why people hate going to auto shops, because our ignorance is being taken advantage of, you guys should be ashamed!I hate to leave such a bad review because the man who helped me was really nice and I felt he was being genuine, turns out he wasn’t :(
Best ever. Close to my house. Part of the neighborhood. They do hospital and university work.
Great service! I was visiting Madison from Illinois and had car trouble resulting in a tow to Jensen Auto. They got my vehicle in right away and charged a fair price (according to my home mechanic) to replace a transmission line, fill with fluid and test drive, determining that I hadnt ruined the transmission. Thanks Jensen Auto!
I am shocked by the poor reviews. We have been going to Jensens for 20 years and find them to be honest and very reasonably priced. They will tell us you can wait 6 months to fix this or if you can live with the noise, its not a mechanical problem honest and fair traits are hard to find when it comes to car repair
Pleased with the work and the way they conducted business.
The owner was incredibly rude. Cursed and yelled at me for no reason at all. I would recommend going somewhere else.
Hard to believe these bad reviews of Jensen Auto. Over the last 25-30 years, these guys have fixed my cars and saved me lots of money by recommending less-expensive alternatives. When it came time to send my old Geo Prism to the scrap yard, they told me so rather than charge me for useless repairs. And then they did a quick check of cars I was thinking of buying. Theyre friendly, knowledgeable professionals who you can trust.
They got the job done plus found another big problem and got that taken care of
Very rude. Suprised this shop is still operating considering the way the treat potential customers.
Really great service, they were upfront about how much certain replacements would cost and were honest about what they thought I should do with my car. Took my car in on a same day appointment and had it back to me in a few short hours.
Thanks so much to Jensen Auto for checking a suspicious sound in our wheel, late on a weeknight when wed driven in from out of town. They drove the car around the block to hear the sound, made sure it was nothing, and wouldnt accept any money. Sure enough the sound went away -- it was just something like a small twig that had gotten caught.
Absolutely the rudest owner, and least competent mechanic Ive ever dealt with. STAY AWAY FROM JENSENS. I am a poor college student that he thought he could make a mint off of.My Jeep wouldnt start so I had it towed there out of convenience. Jim said he wouldnt even look at it without a 50 dollar fee, so I paid. Then he called and said He needed an additional 4 to 5 hours to trace wiring faults and short circuits, Id probably need to replace the computer and a few sensors. around $1700. The whole time he kept a curt and condescending attitude toward me, and wouldnt listen.I took it to a competitor for a second opinion, and they billed me $50 for a new distributor cap. NOW IT RUNS FINE, NO ISSUES SINCE.
Have going there for over 25 years. The very best. When I take long trips and have problems, I call Jim for advice. Over the years the calls have saved me over $2,000 because others were trying to rip me off away from home.
I have been going to Jensens for over 30 years and have always received excellent service, completely reasonably priced repairs and often a friendly conversation and good laugh on top of it all. I trust Jim and his team explicitly. One time a young friend was visiting and was worried about some noises coming from her van. I sent her over to Jensens. She came back incredulous that Jim looked things over, assured her that those vans had a tendency to sound like that and didnt charge her anything. I dont know how some people can have a bad experience at Jensens. They have kept my second hand cars running well for decades.
Ive been taking my cars here for 10+ years. These guys have been nothing but honest and fair with me. Ive taken 4 different vehicles here over the years and theyve kept each one running in top condition!
DO NOT GO HERE! Overall just absolutely terrible. Car broke down close by and they knew I would have to have it towed if I decided to go elsewhere, quoted me over $200 more than any other shop for a simple repair. ABSOULETLY TERRIBLE! Be warned, Go elsewhere !
Just reiterating the sentiment about the owner being unstable. Was parked improperly for less than 3 minutes and he comes out to start yelling/peering at me why are you sh@#$ing on my business over and over. Please search premises for remains that he Dextered.
I had my car towed there because it was recommended to me by my brother-in-law. The next day i received a call and Jim tells me he couldnt find anything wrong with my car. So I pick my car up drive it 45 minutes home. On the way to work the next day, the power steering once again goes out. I have it looked at by my normal mechanic and he ends up telling me my car isnt even safe to drive as the power steering went out on him multiple times and it refused to start for him at least once. My car ended up being totaled with everything that was wrong with it. Im just glad I wasnt charged for his time looking at my car when he probably didnt even do that.
Always friendly and fair! Very convenient.
Jensens only gets one star because I cant give them 0. I took my car in for a headlight bulb and the guy charged me $45 to replace it. He also found about 10 other things wrong with my car that would cost about $500. I took it to Midas for a second opinion, and they said there was nothing else wrong but a cracked belt which they showed me, they did a full courtesy check and topped off my washer fluid for free.Drive the extra mile and go to a reputable company that wont try to rip you off. Jensens was quite adamant that I had to do all that extra work right now or else. Midas actually took the time to check everything for free and show me that my car was OK.
Went there and asked for one part to be fixed because i didnt have the proper tools to do the job myself. Jim said that they wouldnt do only part of the job because of liability issues, Which is understandable but the way he presented this information to me could have been a little more polite. There estimates cost 50 bucks?! To me it was a waste of time to go to this old gas station called a shop.
Great service. Fast, convenient and personal, the Jensons guys run an awesome local shop and know what theyre doing
The owner is an impudent S.O.B., and will definitely overcharge you for your auto repairs.JENSENS IS TERRIBLE! I ENCOURAGE YOU TO SHOP AROUND, SAVE MONEY, AND AVOID THE A-HOLE OWNER!!!
We have gone to Jensen for many years and have consistently received the best possible service.
Self-absorbed owner thinks the story about how long hes been in the business is enough to count as customer service. I will never get my car repaired there because he refused to answer simple diagnostic questions and actually insulted me to my face in front of other customers. No one is a good enough mechanic to warrant such an ego, and the ones that think they are are exactly the most dangerous.
Terrible, This former gas station is unbelievable in how they treat customers, and fix cars. I dont understand why the lowest rating I can give them is Poor-Fair. There is nothing fair about their practices, prices, customer service, work ethic, or mechanical abilities. Avoid this business at all costs. If I was planning on staying in Madison long enough, I would sue.$750.00 for repairs that were done sloppy at best. I was treated like a nuisance from the time I walked in the door, and was charged parts and labor for one part that was never even replaced. The owner needs medication, and the mechanics need less.AVOID THIS ESTABLISHMENT!!!
