We broke down on the road in Madison,WI on the way to Col. We called the shop and were asked to bring the truck by. Within 24 hours we were back on the road! We were given a ride to our hotel on top of the good service. We would definitely recommend Applegate to anyone. Friendly quality, fair priced service. Five stars!

Picked up my truck from Applegate today, it was the second time Ive had work done here. Absolutely great service, the work both times was done well and completed quickly for a very fair price. I will be calling them any time I need work done.

Called on a Sunday to find them open and able to take my vehicle on. Did a great job completing the work same day and was dead on with the approximated quote when discussing the work upfront of the service. Friendly and respectful staff!

Good service, good price, stayed within the quoted price, when the job was going to go over quote called and made sure I wanted to extra service done and still stayed within the new quote. Took a little longer than expected but I always say measure twice cut once.

On our drive from MN to Madison this last Saturday the muffler on my car fell off about 15 minutes to Madison. I frantically searched for an open mechanic on a Saturday at noon and called Applegate - who said they would check it out. We dropped off my car and THREE hours later my car was fixed at a reasonable price with a new muffler!! They literally could have told us to pay any price, as we needed to get home the following day, but they didn’t. I could not recommend this great service any more! Saved our short trip and were able to celebrate our friends engagement without the added stress over the car.

Wednesday, 01/6/2021, my late-model GM SUV had an unexpected flat in my driveway -tire was even off the rim. Applegate drove out w/ tools,removed & took the tire & rim back, and ordered four new tires. They came back & put one tire & rim on and drove it back to install the other three. Prompt, polite & professional. Also the transaction was competitive to Internet sites on tire prices. I am a happy camper ! Thanks, Sven and crew !

A friend recommended this place to me, and I gotta say, its a good place to go! Many people that live close by, take their vehicles there. The owner is a real nice guy. Willing to work with ya if you need. Prices are very fair and the work is good! And the owner does his fair share of dirty work too! Not hiding out in a back office, counting his money. Highly recommend as I havent had any bad experiences, and everybody I talked to hasnt either.

Had a breakdown late on a Sunday while away from home. Called for a tow and the tow company recommended Applegate. I was skeptical, but desperate! Called ahead and spoke to Jesse who met us and said he could look at the car early the next day. He was really professional and caring of our situation. We left and waited for his call. Early the next day, Jesse called and said his initial thought was correct about what the problem was (ruptured power steering fluid line) and quoted a very reasonable price. 2 hours later he called to say the work was complete.Such a relief to be treated with such great service and honesty! Had my car towed there after it broke down since my apartment wont let me fix it in the parking lot. Their prices were really reasonable for the minimal amount of work that needed to be done and they had a really quick turn around time. 10/10 would recommend them to anyone. Fantastic service, great rates. I live about 5 or 6 blocks away, and they offered me a ride back to my apartment. I took my car in on a Saturday afternoon and my car was finished by Sunday afternoon.

They gave my car an alignment with bad ball joints after I expressed my concern that they were bad. After I got my car back it the steering wheel jerked while accelerating. I took it into Zapata Auto to look at it and he said my ball joints and control arms were basically dead. I had those replaced and now I need another alignment. Basically threw away $90 at Applegate.

1600 dollars later and my car still makes the same noises! Took it back to them and they would not fix it. Save your money and time and go somewhere else!!

I recommend Applegate Auto to anyone in the Madison area. Sven is reasonable in prices and the few times I have been there, they have been working after hours on my vehicles (and Im sure many others!) Each time, he had the vehicle ready that evening or the next morning.They are friendly, fast, and efficient. I couldnt ask for a better place to bring my cars.From my first visit, they earned my trust and my business. As the years have past, I know that if something is wrong all I have to do is call or bring it by. They are there everyday! You will not regret going here.Ive read through some of these reviews about people being overcharged or treated like crap I cant honestly believe they are talking about the same place. I have always been treated with respect.When you bring in a car and neither party has a solid idea of whats wrong with it, they will ask you for a limit to not go beyond for repairs or you have the option to have them call you before they do anything at all. Either way, Sven has always called me, (usually several times because Ill leave my phone on silent) just to update me on what was going on and where the price was going. I dont know where the people who are saying different are going or what they are doing but this does not sound like something that would happen at Applegate.

Drove out to New Glarus in a 2012 Mazda 3 Sport in heavy snow and noticed when I made to leave that some bottom paneling on the bottom of my car was hanging off. Was worried everything would be closed for Sunday and that even if something was open that it would take awhile to be fixed and would be expensive. Applegate got me in immediately, reconnected the paneling to my undercarriage in little over 20 minutes, and charged me $36 for the whole operation. Saved my absolute bacon. True American heroes. Shout-out to Shannon the mechanic for helping us out before his lunch break!

Fast & reasonable prices

Im not one to give 5 stars unless its very deserved, but this has been the one shop I know I can rely on time and again. I have brought many cars here all in rough shape, theyre fixed up quickly and then run very well afterwards. More over these guys stand behind there work, I had a issue once with a used tire I let them know and promptly they got a new one under warranty for me. I am a truly happy customer and recommend them!

Took a used car in that I was looking at buying. They got me in same day (very nice) and the guy seemed to do a very thorough job going through the car and finding items that would cost me $$ down the road, and he also seemed very knowledgeable.Im going to buy the car so well see in a few months/years how good of a job he actually did, but I would definitely go here again.

They did do a good job for meWhile I was driving the engine just stopped running. Picked my truck the next day. It turned out to be the MAF, mass air flow sensor went bad.

I was in a car accident in January and I got a recommendation from one of my sons friends for Applegate....I will NEVER use or recommend this auto repair shop. They quoted me one price on the repairs and when I picked up the car, they said it was an additional 500.00 and my car still isnt fixed right. When I told them that the fan was making a strange sound since picking up my car ( It wasnt making this sound before they got my car) they said to bring it in and they would fix it for an additional cost even though it was part of the initial repairs. They are crooks and VERY dishonest. DO NOT USE THIS SHOP. You will regret it.

A few years ago i took my car in to Applegate. i was experiencing a high use of gas and oil. the owner said that there was nothing wrong with the car. now i filled the car with gas shortly before taking it in. there was a half a tank of gas missing and there was well over 200 miles put on the car. after i got it back i called a couple other mechanics and was told by them it was the engine needing to be rebuild. for this i give them a -.1move to present day and my mom had a small gas leek. took the car to Applegate. the first estimate she was given was 500.00, the next time Sven called and said the estimate doubled. now the car went in on a Thursday, he called on the following monday. Now at this point i was kinda wondering what was going on. i believe it was a week and a half later i called for an update on the suv. Sven told me that he was still looking for a used tank from down south. he told me the price would be between 400 to 500 for the tank. being a curious guy i went on line and found one for 182.00 plus shipping. that is a whole lot cheaper then what he said and i got it new. i ordered the part(kinda doing their job) and that lead to another week. when i got the delivery notification i called to see how long the car would take to get it back.it took 20 minuets to find a 17.5 gallon silver tank. now in to week three and it finally gets done, but my mom told them that she had an estimate to put the tank in for 450.00. saying that it could be done for that.now at this point you would think hey 450, not to bad. three weeks not good. when my mom picked it up the actual cost was north of 500. this shop should at least TRY to come close to an estimate. oh, one more thing. while driving home the check engine light was on, not on before. she called and Sven would do absolutely nothing about that issue that they caused. my mom was a long time customer but not anymore.i would NEVER go there. the pictures online are after the lot has been cleaned up. no room to park. i was afraid that my tire was going to go flat. please do some research and do NOT go here.

It was Sunday and all of a sudden the brakes on my 2005 Ford Escape went out. There was nothing open and I was starting a new job on Monday and had no other vehicle. Applegate is close to my house and I remembered seeing the garage doors open on Sundays in the summer. I called and they said I could drop my car off at 10am. By 5pm they had fixed the broken brake line and replace one other one that was cracked and about to burst! Such great service!

Not the place to do business. It took them over 4 days to tow my car that was stranded in a pay-by-hour parking structure. If youre in the towing biz you should be able to handle getting a car out of a garage promptly - I can only imagine them in more adverse conditions. Plenty of excuses, lack of communication, and when I picked it up, I found they had the nerve to charge me for the parking bill plus for while they dragged their feet plus for an additional tow truck to get it out even though theyre the ones who are ill-equipped for job! (One sedan in a covered garage shouldnt require two trucks, lets be real here). Little sympathy and a not my problem and blame AAA attitude. Total lack of responsibility, ambition, and customer service abilities.

Called same-day with a hole in my exhaust and a pressing need to get it done same day. They cut out the hole, and welded on a section of pipe, and got it back to me quickly. Pricing was reasonable as well.

I took my vehicle in to see why my transmission was leaking and to check a noise with the breaks. The owner charged me hundreds of dollars to tell me that my transmission was leaking (which I already knew, thats why I brought it here). He did not check the breaks and seemed confused when I asked him about it. He wanted to keep my car until he got ahold of his transmission guy, but did not know when that would be. I said I was coming to get it and to call me when he spoke to his specialist. He never called me.Save yourself the trouble and go to Monona Motors.

A day ago, I would have given this a much higher review since they came promptly and did good work. However, yesterday I was charged one price, which I paid, and then today he called and asked me to pay an additional $100 because he ran the numbers wrong the first time.I paid it to end our interaction, but I was very unhappy about the exchange. I think its unprofessional to call for extra money after I already paid what I was asked to, and I strongly disliked his tone overall. If you make a mistake like that, I think you need to eat it rather than hound me for more money.

My fuel pump went out and my car wouldnt start So they towed my car Friday and had it done by Tuesday. They were very courteous and solved the problem in a timely manner. Thanks Applegate Auto!

Great place for a cheap price but no loan car to borrow

Awful. From walking in the door there was garbage laying all over the waiting room. Me and another gentleman waited about 15 minutes before anyone even came and talked to us, even though they could see us standing there. Ended up waiting almost an hour for them to run a simple diagnostic on a check engine light that should take 5 minutes. One of his mechanics was walking around drinking beer from a can, who made lame attempts every so often to hide it behind his back. Every time the owner asked his 2 mechanics to do something they either ignored him or made some joke, so he ended up having to do it himself. Out of the many auto repair shops Ive been to in my life, I can honestly say this was the worst Ive ever seen.

We have brought our car to Applegate auto 3 times and been very satisfied with the service and price each time. Will be back.

Took my car here 4 years ago to get labor done on a part I brought with. Was quoted around $200. One week later and $600 later. I got my vehicle back. Fumbled his way thru a excuse for the change in price.

My 18 year old Thunderbird had a gas leak a few days ago. Applegate happened to be one of the only places near me that was open on the weekend. I called them and described my situation, and I decided to have it towed, to prevent further damage to the vehicle and others if it were to combust. They picked up the vehicle that day (Saturday), and Tim called me later that afternoon about the damage, and the cost to replacing one of the fuel lines that had cracked. Tim was great at explaining things to me and made sure that I knew I was paying for a service that would benefit myself and any future owner (for the car being as old as it is). All of Applegate Auto is really great, and friendly. I really appreciate them taking my car in, and getting it back to me in 2 days. I definitely recommend their service.

Unprofessional service!! First of all, it took me like two days to get ahold of them and then I made an appointment for them to come tow my car to the dealer. Next day he showed up an hour late so I had to cancel the appointment at the dealer. At the end he couldnt tow my car and said that would come back next day and never did. No call, no show. I dont recommend this service to anyone.

I would give this joke of a business negative stars if I could. I called to make sure they could get me in and explained the issue I was having as well as what Autozone said the codes were on my car. After going in and waiting for several hours, they finally used the same basic scanner that Autozone did and told me first they needed to change the oil on the car. When I told them I would change it myself then he said oh, well you also have an error code for your timing (which was, of course, the reason I was there in the first place). He then charged me $26.38 for doing exactly what Autozone had done in five minutes for free the night before and without trying to charge me for services I didnt even need! I would rather walk than take my car to this rip off artist trying to pass himself off as a mechanic. Oh,and while I was waiting another customer came in to complain that his car was still dying on him and they hadnt fixed anything!

I bought a car from applegate motors for 3000 dollars. So far I have only had to put 4000 into it. First was the head gasket a month after I bought it, then the convertor, timing belt, sway bars, front & rear, radiator, window controls twice, etc... now more problems. STAY AWAY!!!! Should have known after the 5th time he said remember, this car is as is !

Helped me out when the dealership dowb the street over tightened my lugnuts, life savers!

They replaced my tire with a used one that literally blew out on the highway the next day I drove it and charged me again for the tow and to replace it. Car didnt drive right after and they still claimed they had fixed it.

They fixed my truck the same day as I called. Not a fancy place but if you want your vehicle fixed at a reasonable price this is it.

Applegate Auto is a great place to go if you have auto trouble in Madison. Fixed my brakes for a reasonable rate not too long ago and I recommend them to anyone.
