They are so nice and friendly! Always pleasant experiences when I stop in. Good selection of snacks. Wide selection of ice cream at a way better price then the Chevron just down the way.

Ive been coming to Newberry Market almost daily since July 2016. In the first 18 months, service was hit and miss due to previous owners (also named Mr. Lee). However, since the new owners, Mr. and Mrs. Lee purchased Newberry over a year ago, myself and my adult children have never once had a bad experience there. Quite the opposite in fact.I was present during the experience of the previous bad reviewer, and Id like to point out her sheer dishonesty at what took place. The reviewer herself was rude, and discriminatory. Not only to the owners and adult child of the market working that day, but to myself as well when I interjected myself into the melee.If you live in this neighborhood, you know that Newberry Market has changed for the better since the ownership changed. Its got great market options, including hot and frozen food, as well as pantry staples. And the service is top-notch.In fact, if and when I ever move to another community, Ill still return simply to see the Lee family, who are absolutely wonderful.

Went to buy a twelve pack of coke and a package of oreos. The cost was $17.Big no. Go to Walmart or something

I didnt mind the grumpy fella that used to run this place. Its a business that he didnt handle well as far as being personable and friendly. But if you want to enter, pick your item(s) and pay there was no problem. SO WHAT if your cashier isnt acting like a best buddy.I like the this is a business approach to business. Things are fine here.

Asian daughter does not know what costumer satisfaction means at all. This place is WAY to over priced and smells like cigarettes consistently. Would not recommend going here at all!

This place is horrible. he yells at me and my friends. My mom sends me to the store almost everyday and I take my friends with me, as I walked in we took 2 minutes longer than usual. He stopped and looked at us, we only had 6 bucks with us and the amount was larger than what we had, we went back to put one of the items back, we checked again it was still not enough we put one more thing back because nobody was there as we were walking back we heard him scream and saying this: THIS IS THE LAST ONE!, we got scared and one of my friends started to cry, but she covered her face with her coat and became DEAD silent, we checked the price and we gave him the money, it was quarters, and he started counting it like we were going to leave him one quarter down, he scared all of us now after his done his like:NOW GO!, we were all in shock, I was shivering and horrified by how this man was treating us we were only 11 years old and he is yelling at us (by the way this is Mr. Lee) in my opinion I prefer Mrs. Lee better and this dude got no respect and he is impolite. PLEASE DONT SHOP THERE. By the way my mom told me to write this because how long this has been going on, thank you for reading this, if your going there I wish you the best of luck, Peace.

I went to the Newberry Market about a month ago to buy a pack of gum. At the register the man was exceedingly rude when he saw I wanted to pay with a $5 bill, and said that he would not take my $5 bill for just a pack of gum, so, really wanting a pack of gum I grabbed a second and bought two packs. I know people have bad days and life can get the best of you, so I decided to try the scenario again. I went into the Newberry Market today to buy a pack of gum, and again with a $5 bill. The same man was working, and I had the same reaction. He very rudely told me that the gum was less than a dollar and he wouldnt make change for a $5 (not a $50 or a $100, but a $5!). I told him I only had the $5 bill and I really wanted to buy the gum. He refused. I asked him politely if I had offended him or done something wrong. He did not respond or make eye contact. I told him I was sorry if I had done something wrong and again asked to buy the gum. He took the gum and put it behind the counter and said: I have customer. I tried to explain to him that I would like to be a customer and he would not respond to me. I asked the guy behind me if he understood the situation and knew if I was doing something wrong. He told me he didnt get it either. I have rarely been so rudely treated without reason, and this was TWICE. I will never go back. Please do not buy from this store, we dont need this attitude in customer service in my neighborhood.

A very over priced, kindly adults. The daughter is who runs customers away that lives in the area. Shes very pushy, disrespectful and if you dont buy, dont think youll be treated as human.

Unbelievably rude service. And no, I am not talking about the old owners. The people who work there NOW (July 2019) are rude.

I went in today to find something to eat and get some cough drops for myself, and as I went up to go pay for my things, my card wasnt working. After 3 times, Mr. Lee began to become very angry. I went to call my bank, but figured why should I let someone who gives such garbage customer service take my money when I can literally go anywhere. I dont think Ill be going there again. Hopefully there will be changes, because that was the worst experience Ive had at a convenience store.

Mr and Mrs Lee have known me since I was age four. They are hardworking people who have always been kind to me.

Worst convenient store ever, worst customer service. I went in there and asked if they had any popcorn, and the Asian old guy was like no you go! Im like? Im just wondering if you have popcorn.. They dont have any customer service, they dont greet, they dont thank you for coming in, Im blown away how theyre still open.

Dont know why this place has bad reviews. They let me borrow money when I was short.

Im a regular here and After last night I dont think Id be stopping by if Mr. Lee is behind the register. Especially when all I wanted was MATCHES! not a lighter but MATCHES. He tells me 10 cents I dont have ten cents all i have is a 5 dollar bill but he doesnt want to take it either way he wants TEN CENTS and im not trying to buy a lighter now since he is being anal about 10 cents. So, i leave and come back with 10 cents and he processed to CUSS ME OUT and tells me to leave. Now I wasnt being rude to him to begin with until he decided to cuss me out. He tries to approach me like he was about to assault me. I wouldnt be surprised if one of these days he does end up assaulting someone or worst. THE LADY is a better person in my opinion. Whats even WORST IS THAT I went to the gas station down the street and By the way.. MATCHES ARE FREE! I proceed to tell the cashier my experience and she didnt seem surprise because they HAVE HEARD ABOUT NEW BERRY MARKET HAVING A REPUTATION FOR BEING DISRESPECTFUL TO THEIR CUSTOMERS!!! SO WHY IS THIS PLACE STILL OPEN?!? Mr. Lee is rude for no particular reason! I understand theres people out there who dont like their jobs but, MR. LEE has terrible customer service experience and should start looking into a different line of business. DONT SHOP HERE especially since theres that chance that he might ASSULT you.

Today i had the worst service at the store. I have been a very loyal costumer for the last 6 years. I would go there almost every day, sometimes twice a day. Yesterday i went there like i do every morning and purchased some items. My husbamd goes in there today to purchase some things and is told by mr. Lee we owe him from Yesterday. I go in there to talk to him and he tells me my purchase from Yesterday was voided and i had to pay him. I told him it was not my fault he voided my transaction Yesterday. He then started to yell at me and accuse me of stealing because i said i did not want to pay for my purchases from Yesterday. I have spent more money than i should there in the past and Did not deserve to be treated the way i was treated. I have even defended him when my coworkers or anyone else said he was rude and disrespected. I will NOT be going back to mr lees ever again

Could I give zero stars? I would! I am at a loss of words for my experience at this store. I walked in to buy a few small items for my lunch and decided to get coffee. As I was filling up my cup I asked if he had milk for the coffee. He (Mr Lee- the owner) adivsed me the creamer was behind me. All I saw were a few small creamer cups, so I asked for actual milk. He stated all he had were the cups, I apologized and declined to purchase the coffee in that case and offered to check out the rest of my purchase. This is where this becomes surreal. Mr. lee (as i was later told by the coffee shop next door) started screaming and cursing at me. I calmly put my items back and began to walk out of the store, when he threw a creamer cup at the back of my head. when I turned around he RAN up to me with his arm back in a position to back hand me. I asked if he was threatening me and was he going to hit me. He took one step closer and cocked back his hand to strike me when I stopped and asked him if I should call the police. He took a step back and continued to scream and curse at me like a crazy. I SHOULD have called the cops. I should have filed a report. I left my phone in my bag, in the car. All I had in my hand was my wallet. I just walked out, got in my car and drove thru the AMAZING coffee shop at the end of the strip mall. I asked the girl the name of the market and she asked if Mr. Lee was giving me a hard time. WHAT?!! I kind of got the impression this was not his first incident. The look on her face was enough to let me know he has quite a reputation. I guess I shouldnt have filled up my coffee cup without first making sure he had actual creamer or milk and not cups of chemicals. To say the least I will never return to this store and I am VERY grateful I dropped my daughter off at school before I walked in this day! What a horrible start to my day and What a horrible horrible man!

What a miserable, rude and pathetic man Lee is....I wasnt sure if I should leave a bad review but after reading through all these other reviews I found that I was not the only one. What a sad and pathetic person. Is it just non Asian persons he dislikes or does he hate all people?

Horrible customer service, my pregnant wife went in to get ice cream and was looking at the selection, he yelled at her to hurry up and then told her she was done and needed to leave and yelled at her the whole way out.

Old man is impolite when I go in. When the old lady is there I get better service.
