Wide awake at the Drowsy, and loving every minute. The menu selections are fresh and inviting but I usually find myself ordering the Popular Forest. The portions are generous and the food safety stellar. The price is $$$ so don’t forget your wallet. Good glove usage and the food is honestly presented.

I love going to the Drowsy Poet! The sandwiches are incredible and they have the best hot chocolate. My favorite sandwich combo is the Poplar Forest with spicy bean dip. AMAZING! They also have great little nooks for reading and having a nice calm lunch.

Cute little coffee shop. It was fast and easy to order in drive through. My coffee had a adorable mustache on it to keep it from spilling out.

O got the Application sandwich with fruit. Evrey thing was great! Lots of food for the cost of 6.75 I believe

My favorite place to meet friends and study. the cafe has such a lovely and relaxed environment as Drowsy Poet is inside Givens Bookstore. There is tons of seating all over, even when the cafe is busy its never overly noisy or crowded due to the elbow room of the building. Its also totally permissible to buy coffee and wander around to browse books. What more could you ask for?The coffee, pastries, sandwiches and soups are always delicious. The staff are personable and sweet. So thankful for this gem.

Little niche eatery inside little dickens. Books toys magazines and nick knacks available in main shop and you can enjoy coffee tea or a snack in the drowsy poet. Several small dining areas that make a nice place to browse you purchases or meet a friend.

I tried to take some visiting family here to get the Miltons milkshake twice. The first time we showed up at 7:20 pm which is 40 minutes until closing time. The worker said that she wouldnt make us milkshakes because her boss called and told her to close at 7:30 pm and she already washed the blenders. This really irked me since we still had ten minutes until the unannounced closing time and we all wanted the same milkshake. I guess they didnt care enough to make at least 20 dollars in milkshakes. The second time we attempted to get the milkshakes was 3 days later. We showed up at 6:15 pm thinking we would get there in time even if they decided to close early. Apparently, they had closed at 6 pm for memorial day. When we had come by 3 days before there were no signs about the early closing, so I wouldnt be surprised if they decided to close early that day. This has happened on two other occasions and this was the last time. Wont ever go back.

A lovely place for a lught lunch with friends. The brownies are always good. Being surrounded by books doesnt hurt either. Has a great feel of the small town bookstore/cafe.

Fabulous coffee and sandwiches (in a fabulous locally owned bookstore). The barista was kind enough to turn the oven back on for us (it was a bit less than an hour before closing) and was very friendly despite our late order causing some inconvenience for her in closing up. Great service!

Cozy little coffee shop nestled in the back of a kids themed toy and bookstore called Givens Book and Little Dickens. I love looking for little, off-the-beaten path coffee shops. This ones a gem. They serve coffeefrom the Drowsey Poet Coffee Co. Delish! They also serve lunch fare, salads, healthy options, etc. Oh and did I mention Toys and Books. Love this place! Definitely recommend this place.

The two older ladies working as baristas werent in a good mood. Maybe it was the heat? I dont know. I ordered an iced latte. My question is who serves an iced latte in a hot coffee cup without a straw? If you dont know how to make an iced latte why are you offering it?The latte wasnt very good: simultaneously watered down and too strong.I like the atmosphere in here but I wont be getting any food or drinks from here again.

If youve never had a Milton especially on a HOT day you are missing out, its like NO other milkshake ever. Great fresh coffee (lots of books). This location is has great food items, hummus plate, great sandwiches, fun atmosphere (inside of Givens books store). Dont forget they have Hard Ice cream...worth the visit.

I went here over the weekend and got a cup of Highlander Grogg. I really enjoy this flavor. If you like flavored coffee, this is a fun one to try.

The Drowsy Poet is by far one my favorite places for lunch in Lynchburg. The Cream of Tomato Soup is to die for, and they offer a wide range of delicious sandwiches. Many of my friends rave about their famous Milton Shake - but I think the Peanut Butter Chocolate Shake gives it a run for its money. Nestled in the midst of a great book and education resource store, The Drowsy Poet is a great option for anyone from a family with young kids and college students looking for a place to study, to get togethers with friends or a fun getaway with someone special.

Sandwich was delicious; tomato soup is different.. not the traditional tomato soup!

Go to for a healthy, quick meal. With the added attraction of a great book store!

I never liked Cream of Tomato soup, that is until I had the Drowsy Poets. Its so unique and delicious. I really cant say enough for it. After several dozen coffees, Im certain that youd be hard pressed to find a better cup in all of Lynchburg. They have, normally, 4 brewing every day. Im a huge fan of the toasted macaroon. The spicy bean dip is also fantastic and makes a perfect side to any number of their many soups, sandwiches and salads. (All of which arrive at your table looking like they are straight out of a food magazine)I highly recommend a trip to check out this truly genuine experience!

I loved Miltons! I had been dreaming of getting one for about a month. I decided to get one at 6:45, 15 minutes before close last friday, and the employee turned me down and said Sorry, I just cleaned the blenders. Thats just bad customer service to not offer your most popular drink, The Milton, until close at 7pm. They lost the sale, and gave bad customer service.
