A great game shop. For starters, they have an excellent selection. A wide range of Consol titles, and consuls themselves. They also have good customer service. In addition they also have some other great knickknacks; like toys, records, and old televisions.I was also impressed that they have pretty good prices on their video games. It’s always nice to see a shop that doesn’t inflate their prices to match what you see on eBay.All in all a great cozy shop that makes you want to go again.

Took in my PS4 to get repaired and walked into the past. Every game console and video game from my whole childhood available and then some. They fixed my PS4 in one day, highly recommend this spot for repairs but also for nostalgia.

What a terrific place! Gary (the owner) is very nice and patient. I brought in a non-functioning XBox 360, and though he wasnt quite able to fix it, he did give me a discount on a refurbished model, while also accepting several of my old Sega Genesis and Nintendo games in trade. Opened 30 minutes late. Sign said Ill be back in 5minutes I ended up waiting outside for 33 minutes exactly. Guy told me to come back with a new internal hard drive and he would help me out. Came back with one and he didnt know what he was doing and told me Yeah Im honestly not too sure man tbh. Ended up leaving with no help whatsoever.

DO NOT GO HERE FOR REPAIRS!Great store to browse and Purchase from, do NOT Recommend for Repairs If you want your item back in good shape.Had a Sega Saturn with a disc reading issue that was apparently quite hard to diagnose. They never told us what the problem actually was, just that they had to get a professional to come in and look at it, and then we had to wait almost two months (after being quoted a week) for the repairs to be done because of the time it took for parts to be shipped. This is fine, problems come up during repairs and I understand that, what I dont understand was the complete lack of communication regarding these issues. I had to call the store on a near weekly basis to get an update on the status as they made no effort to keep me informed of the progress.It took so long to get repaired that I had to leave the system with them while I moved to a different city. To their credit, they did ship the item to me though the mailing was at my own expense. The Saturn arrived today... and the disc read issue I sent the console in for IS fixed now, so the job was technically completed, but the system came back to me with MISSING PARTS that I sent it in with. The back battery cover is now gone, and the system wasnt even properly screwed back together, coming to me in Two Halves without a word of warning that they lost the screws. I understand the battery cover, mistakes happen and sometimes things get lost, but how they could FORGET TO SCREW THE TOP AND BOTTOM HALVES OF THE CONSOLE BACK TOGETHER, I dont know. It was immediately apparent when I lifted it out of the box, and they had to do far more with it than that: Assembling it, Testing it, wrapping it in bubble wrap and mailing it off, and yet they somehow didnt notice? I find it hard to believe. There was no explanation for this either in the packaging or over the phone when they did the shipping, just a Its repaired, whats your new address? There wasnt an invoice, notes on what was repaired, a thank you, nothing. No communication whatsoever.I used to love this store, browsing their selection is great and they do have fair prices, but I could never in good conscience recommend them for repairs in any capacity after their lack of communication and sending the console back incomplete. Now if youll excuse me, Im off to spend another 25 bucks to replace the NOW missing parts on top of the 130 I spent on the repairs... at this point it would have been cheaper for me to buy a whole new console instead of getting it repaired, and given everything else Im not confident that it wont just stop working again in another month.

Just got my PS4 pro back from A&J games. Had been having an overheating problem that crashed the system off and on the last few weeks, and had been having the jet engine fan for even longer than that.Brought it in on Saturday, got it back on Monday, and its running practically whisper quiet! (fingers crossed this will last). Gonna run it through some intensive games and see how it holds up. But for now..GREAT JOB A&J!

Great local game shop. Fair prices considering its a sellers market right now. They also have some books, movies, comics, toys etc. A couple people asked about various repairs. From what I heard, the prices were pretty good and the repair times seemed pretty quick. Im sure it depends though. Theyre pretty busy during the day, so expect to wait a few mins for service.

Needed a New 1Tb hard drive cause my old one was corrupted and it only took them a week to fix and now im playing again and it feels like im playing on a brand new ps4🙏🏽

This spot is in Palms off sepulveda & its been here for years & I never seen it sigh. This cat has mad games for every system & consoles plus action figures etc! Small place so dont come in thinking its all super fancy, its cluttered with ish everywhere just like A place like this should be lol. I have no beef at all. Its a mess, its dark and the people are a little quirky. But damn, this is the greatest retro gamer, retro pc enthusiasts place. The people working there are really passionate about what they are selling. The store might be kind of a mess, buy its full of gems waiting to be found. This is THE place to go in Los Angeles if youre looking for retro games.Theres no fluff: no plushies, no big figurines signaling that this is a game store. Just games and the people who love them.

Found this place when desperately needing a repair and didnt want to wait the month to have fixed by Sony. Good customer service and a speedy repair. This shop did a great job repairing a Dreamcast that I thought I had fried with some minor modifications. They were able to figure out what was wrong in a relatively appropriate time and were friendly every time I came in. Id definitely recommend them for any technical issues with older systems.As far as game shops go, its a small venue but packed to the brim with games on the shelves. They have some highly sought after stuff and ask an appropriate price based on its demand. The older the game/console, the less the variety, but thats par for the course. Its a place worth dropping by if you are hunting down a game or console.

They are reasonably priced, friendly, informative and not condescending. A lot of places, the employees are snotty and dismissive. Not these guys. I also love the fact that when I walk in and see all of the old gaming equipment on the wall, it takes me back in time.

Ive been a regular customer of A & J games for about 6 months now and I have to say that if you are serious about collecting retro games/equipment of any kind, this is THE place in L.A. to go. Not World8. Not Bros. Not any other retro game store in the city. Over this half-year I have watched the store go from, admittedly unorganized and messy to a much more accessible and laid-back type of mom-and-pop style gaming store.I am always greeted with a smile and treated like a fellow collector whenever I arrive. Although the workers can be a little quirky and different from what you are used to or even sometimes off-putting, I assure you that beneath that they are passionate fans that will never lie to you about how valuable a product is or how much repair is required for your console.Its a real shame that there are so many one-star reviews based off first impressions of the store alone without really giving the place a chance.I have been a long time collector of retro gaming and I wouldnt do business with anybody else.It truly saddens me to hear people wishing for this place to close down or to even hear the workers consider throwing in the towel.I would recommend to anybody who enjoys their hobby as much as they do.Their selection is massive.They will take a look at your damaged console for free before giving you aneed honest price.They are fair and fun to talk to if you give them a chance.So give the store a chance.You wont regret it.

Couldnt repair my Xbox One that wouldnt download updates. I brought my computer in for them to look at, and I honestly dont think they even looked at it. I dont know what to make of this place. Clearly other people have had it work out for them, but my experience has left me wondering how this place is still open.

This is a great place to buy retro video game consoles and more! I recently went there to buy Super Mario Land and asked them for some parts for my snes. They were very helpful with my problem with the console and gave me a great deal for a different (in perfect condition) one, since the other one had a few problems. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to buy video games, consoles, accessories, and rare items for all an affordable price!

Crap all over the floor so you cant walk around or see the things in the case. Nothing has price stickers, and if you ask to know prices, the employees hide in the back for half an hour before telling you that everything is priced WELL over market cost, ex. asking $70 for something worth $30 and $10 for something with several current buy it now listings for under $4 with free shipping. Some systems and games they outright refuse to sell even though they are in the display cases between several others that are. There is also no air conditioning and I was not acknowledged for almost half an hour of arriving.

While I was in the LA area I decided to check out some local game stores, since they seem to be such a rarity these days, and I have to say that A & J had by far the best selection. The game that I was looking for that I couldnt find ANYWHERE they had two copies of. They had a bunch of other rare games as well, and the prices were fairly reasonable; middle-of-the-road compared to online prices but you dont have to deal with the nonsense and unreliability that comes from online ordering.The one negative is that I feel they could really benefit from a bigger space. The shop in its current state doesnt seem to have enough room to contain all the games, so theyre piled up on counters. At least the employees seemed to know where everything is, so if you have a specific thing youre looking for you can ask.

This place has a ton of games for every platform all the way back to the Atari 2600, but its horribly overcrowded with stuff and most of the games are in piles on the counter with no organization whatsoever. So if you feel like a hunting adventure, youll have fun.. until you bring your selections to the checkout to find that theyre wildly overpriced. EBay is easier and cheaper, and mote comfotable to navigate.

This place is amazing! I just went to GameDude in noho last week in search of good games for my original Xbox. They have a bigger selection overall but crappy service, didnt have time to chat or give recommendations and were pricey. A&J is way cheaper and had better selection. I had a great time talking to Ryan and reminiscing about old games. He gave some good recommendations I hadnt heard about but have been a blast to play. Ended up with a great haul for not much money. Ill always come here from now on!

As a retro collector with vast knowledge I decided to come here pretending to not know anything and test their business ethics and see how their prices compared to the mainstream retro gaming market. To put it simple this store is like a homeless camp, everything is dirty, its cluttered, there was even an old bowl of cereal and milk on the floor, its just unorganized and disgusting. It gets much worse as the merchandise is very worn out, EXTREMELY overpriced and the employee was way too unprofessional and tried lying to me about information regarding the rarity of many products in order to upsell the products. I felt like I was conversing with a child at a garage sale, there has to be some form of business ethics and this place has none. I would stick with eBay for collecting or buying reproductions off Aliexpress if you want to buy retro games to play, this place should definitely go out of business and I highly advise against supporting them until they fix all these issues.

Avoid like this place is on fire. I felt I was being incredibly generous to pay $30+ each for 4 used PS3 controllers. I wanted to support the local business. Big mistake, As expected, half didnt work but I was assured I could exchange until I found ones that would fit my needs. First time with an employee, great no probs, 2nd time, the INSANE owner verbally attacked me. More or less accusing me or trying to get over on him.. Too bad negative stars isnt an option... FOLLOW UP....Been over week since I dropped off the controllers and no one has followed up. Remember, he didnt offer me a refund or exchange on USED PS2 CONTROLLERS. He more or less robbed me, bearded me and Im out a $100. Ebay, and Best Buy are better options. Too bad negative stars isnt an option.. This place is the worst, they had a computer repairs “special” coupon which I regrettably used. (A) I had to follow up with them constantly to find about when work would be finished being that they took weeks after deadline of which they originally told me. (B) Once I received laptop back the screws were missing because they “half assed” put it back together again. (C) My laptop literally was worse, and lasted about a month after I did what was suggested from them which was to replace the GPU.PLEASE STAY AWAY!!
