Real friendly employees. Pretty reasonable prices to be honest, I got a genuine LeafGreen cartridge for a price thats slightly less than what youd buy it now for on eBay. If you frequent vintage games stores you know thats an uncommon experience.Obviously the vintage stuff they sell has been hot lately so it might be hit or miss if youre looking for something specific. Either way I really enjoyed spending a few minutes here.

Its a small place but its great in its selection of games. They have variety and at a reasonable price. Also the staff is great.

They Had my console for over a month, end up telling me that the update for Microsoft for my Xbox wouldnt let the picture display for some reason, Contacted Microsoft and let them know of my problem they informed me that there updated had nothing to do with displaying the picture and that i needed a simple repair. Long story short there just a wate of time/money and seem to have a lot of excuses for why they couldnt work or fix my console but they definitely wanted to buy it from me for some reason. Probably have better luck at gamestop

Have nothing but great things to say about this establishment! The staff is helpful & kind, take there time to call you and update you on your console repair & other issues they find while it’s there. Took my kids Nintendo Switch due to a bad charging port while there they also fixed the controllers. They stand behind there work. Very nice store. They have lots of games that you wouldnt find in a competing store (aka gamestop), also you can find retro games in there. They have different styles funko pop figurines and merchandise. They also have a place in which you can play with friends and they have couches and stuff.

These guys are the greatest but most of all they have a honest working team. You can get your system cleaned out if its making that humming noise. Like most peoples do very fair average cost $40 but that includes a diagnostic test.. great technician that does the work highly recommend this place

Very nice has alot of old games stuff.

Have had problems with this store in the past, but nothing big to place a bad review. They sold a moded GameCube which they did tell me was moded, but didn’t disclose it was originally Japanese moded to play American games. Some games recognize it’s a Japanese console so language comes out Japanese and some games don’t play at all. Overall if they would of informed me of this before purchase I wouldn’t of wrote this bad review.

World 8 has exceptional customer service. I ordered a game through their online store and the transaction went great. Fast communication, over the phone confirmation, and the game arrived quickly. I almost wrote a bad review out of emotion when I went in the other day. Im very happy that I didnt, as it was my fault for not calling first to see if they were even letting customers come inside for shopping.

Top Notch Shop!Went in for a repair on my xbox one and was blown away by how adorable this storefront was. Decked out in old systems, with walls adorned with gaming regalia, it blows any GameStop Ive been at out of the water.The repair itself was quick, cheap (the $10 diagnostic fee covered the full repair), and my console was as clean as when it first came out of the box.Really glad I decided to give this place a try, and I hope you check them out too!

This spot is in the cut off of Vermont! Went in & saw A grip of old school n64 games! Ive been playing my 64 lately & they had controllers, mem cards etc for cheap! Customer service was on point, this cat there with the glasses is cool af! He knew his product & quickly looked up anything I was looking for just to see if they had it in stock & was patient answering questions too. Clean place for sure, parking is rough but usually you are in & out. No hassle exchanges at all.

Love this place and how knowledgeable the staff is. People here will ask you questions of the experience your trying to have with the games or entertainment and then suggest things that you might like based on your preferences. The fact that they will exchange a game also within a week(double check that) is pretty great.

The staff is very friendly. BUT...I Took my PS4 there for cleaning, just cleaning. I called the following day to check on it and they said that they have to do some extra work on the PS4 because it was overheating. So far it is okay, I appreciate them offering me to fix whatever problem there is but I wanted them just to clean the PS4, I didn’t ask to fix anything. The real problem was that when I picked up the PS4 there were some dust, just the way I give it to them. In the end of the day I paid the $10 fee for nothing :(

INCREDIBLY pretentious workers. If you own a video game store or any store for that matter you should be able to offer knowledge on your product or at least try to help. Asked for help and was basically told that this is a retail store and he was too busy to offer help or knowledge on a video game, and that he had people in line if you have people in line then maybe put me on hold and deal with your customers then try to help a potential customer who politely asked for help not for some halfwit to be pretentious and condescending. For sure not ordering here anymore. Spent hundreds, close to a thousand here because we loved it so much the last time we visited, but whe I was met with a pretentious attitude and condescending tone when I asked for help on a video game it definitely locked in my decision to not shop here anymore. Ive worked retail for years and alot of it was with art, collectables and video games and I can truly say that Ive never turned down someone who needed help on a product or had issues with progress on a game. If you are a good worker and someone who actually cares about gaming culture and the people in it you dont act like you dont have the time or inclination to help the. Wack af

A friendly game store anyone can go to. Whether it be for the latest games, retro games, merchandise, repairs or the tournaments held for fighting games, you can always expect the staff to be there and try to help you. As a regular, I cam say its a breath of fresh air compared to other game stores.

Running a business that specializes in video games is not easy. Ive been to several video game shops in my time--some great, some not so great. World 8 is a perfect example of a great one. Great prices on games for a variety of systems. I also traded in games and it was a good experience.

One of my favorite spots of games

So I went with my mom and when I took my ps4 they said that cleaning was going to be 40-50$ and then repairs over 100$ even tho I told them what’s wrong and the repair was supposed to be around 50$ at most. Also the cleaning part didn’t make sense to me because my ps4 is clean they said I had roaches in the console...Here’s the thing When my ps4 broke 7months ago I cleaned it and kept it in a locked clean box.. I went home and open my ps4 to see the bottom cover had a bit of dust only.

I have been coming to world 8 for well over 10 years and for the most part they have treated me well. Over the past 2 years though service has really declined. The cherry on top was my last experience I took in a ps4 dual shock controller in a week ago, was told that it would be repaired in two days, 3 days go by no call. I call them for the next 4 days never getting the call back they said I would get but had different excuses every day as to why it wasnt finished or why I never got a call back. Finally decided to just take my controller somewhere else where upon arrival they wanted to give me store credit instead of my 10 dollars for opening up a controller that was never worked on. While trying to get my money one of their female employees very rudely stated that the wait time wasnt unusual. Even though I as a customer was told different things multiple times by multiple employees. Do not give them youre money there are tons of different places that actually treat you well and appreciate your buisness instead of making it seem like they are doing you a favor by spending your money there. Todays 8/13 I would suggest the owner talks to his employees before they lose other customers. I am forsure never going back to world 8 for anything.

Honestly, best place for video games in the dtla area, they do repairs, and have a solid mix of retro games, merch, and modern games. If you love supporting local businesses, this is the spot. I dont like giving 5 stars to things but this is an exception. No complaints

Amazing spot for any kind of game you could think of. The staff all know everything you could want to know about what theyre selling, and are ready to point you in the direction of a place that has your game if they dont carry it. Everyone is personable and willing to talk about games the whole day if you let them. Easily my favorite spot to pick up games.

I cant say enough great things about World 8!!! Awesome friendly employees, knowledgeable, helpful and the aesthetic of the store is perfect for gaming culture, especially with the gaming music. Really big on the fighting game community with the tournaments held there. Just a fun place overall and has better bargains than Gamestop and without the hassle. Better deals, prices and accolades.

I had seen this place multiple times before actually deciding to take a look inside. Once I did I regret waiting so long to do so. This little stores charm lies in its wide collection of retro games and systems. Theyve also got great deals on both new and used games.

Great selection of new and used games, as well as retro games, for very reasonable prices! They also have consoles in the back you can play, and they have occasional sales and specials, to. The staff is extremely friendly and loves games as much as I do! They also fix consoles and handheld systems. Plus, by coming here, youre spending your hard-earned dollars supporting a local small business, instead of sending your money to a juggernaut of a company whose only motivation is the almighty dollar (wont make names, but rhymes with LameSlop). I highly recommend World 8!

This place is awesome. Customer service is on point. Pretty good selection and while some of their used games may seem a little pricey, its because they take care of you with your trade-ins.Come here first before you go anywhere else.

This place is so cool, this is what gamestop should be. One of the windows is barred, but its also decorated with old controllers from various consoles. There are also plenty of old games with no shortage of current games. They sell super Nintendos. Check it out.

World 8 is basically the best! Huge selection of current and retro games, and some of the nicest and most awesome people working there. They do store credit trades, they have gaming events, giveaways, etc. THIS is your place for gaming. Period. Don’t go to those chain stores, shop here. Trust me.

World 8 is a dying breed and you probably already know if youre interested in it. The mom and pop video game store, once displaced by big retail in the form of GameStop and then by internet retailers like Amazon lives on here and for that personal touch, you cant go wrong with World 8, but be aware that if theres ever a specific something you need, they arent always able to help you.The place oozes personality - the front wall hosts a hand painted mural usually reflecting a game in the popular discourse (at the time of writing a firey Smash Bros symbol has been on the side a little over a year). The inside is a mix of games old and new, plushies and paraphernalia, and on your first visit undoubtedly a pleasant dose of video game culture. Staff are always friendly in person and reasonably knowledgeable. Its not even unheard of to snag little deals, even unadvertised on games that are, say, not selling or that another retailer has for similar price. If that informal friendly retailer is what youre looking for, find it here.A word of caution thought that for specific items, I dont rely on World 8. While their cases host collectors editions, Id asked after Ace Combat 7 and Octopath Traveller for ages and they never materialized. At one point I wanted to get a PS4 from them and over the phone they said theyd be getting the model I wanted in a few days, but calling back later I was told no such thing was there, nor would it be. It really isnt the place to go for everything.But it gets 5 stars because I want to go there and give them whatever business I can. Not just because they do a point system that gives you credit on future buys, or that you will occasionally find some special game you didnt know would be there, but because the sense of community they foster is one of a kind, increasingly rare, and worth keeping alive.

Big selection in new games as well as vintage games. But, the prices for the vintage stuff is kind of pricey in my opinion. Some games can be easily found for about $10 to $15 cheaper on eBay. Overpriced if you ask me. They also have a small selection of video game themed toys. Nendoroids and such. Staff here are kind of off putting. Doesnt seem like they really want to be there. Not very helpful. I dont like to come here really, but my kids do. Thats the only reason I go.

Tiny parking, kind of hard to find but its really cool. They need air fresheners but its like a geek store what do you expect? Literally 100x better than GameStop. Cool gamer selection and the employees are very nice and attentive and they have awesome deals on used items. Variety is a bit limited because they seem like a mom and pops, but its totally worth checking out at least once. Cool action figures and the place seems really organized and clean. Went to see if they had what I needed and didnt need help because they make it easy to find it. The only thing I wish was that they were closer

This store deserves its 1 star rating. i have came here on multiple occasions and am always treated less due to the color of my skin. i am constantly followed around the store, eyed up and down, and given angry stares. i do not feel safe in this establishment. its a shame because i have friends who love this store, but i for one, will have to share this knowledge to prevent it from happening to others.
