They have alot of pop culture stuffs and a good selection of the latest comic series. They also run MTG nights if youre into playing come Draft or Modern. What an experience! My kids loved this place so much they didnt want to leave. The employee, Luke, was super helpful and so nice to my kids. My last visit to Timeless Toys made me sad. Because most of the children in my life have grown too old for this store. Though theyve got a great selection, Id say its mostly for the under-12 set. Especially in our world today, where children grow up all too quickly.

When you think of a classic toy store, this is the place you imagine. They have every sort of fun, educational, imaginative toy out there. They also have lots of novelty items, crafts galore, and hard to find books. Being in here makes me happy and my toddler thinks it is heaven on earth. Endlessly creative puzzles, books, mechanical toys, and whimsical clothes for those who love all things eccentric, quirky, and thoughtful. While this store is intended for children, we found several things that tickled our brains, including the changeable face puzzle now sitting on our coffee table. Thoroughly original stores such as this are sublime for the mind and heart.

Absolutely love this place ! Its really close to where I live, and its located around small coffee shops and restaurants so its a great place to visit on weekends. Their staff is always so nice and friendly everytime I walk in, their magazines are so organized and easy to access, this place always goes above and beyond to help their customers!

I love Alternate Universe! Ive been coming there since last year. It is a great place for Magic the Gathering and has the largest collection of comic books I have ever seen. The store owner is one of the friendliest guys I know and its a blast to meet awesome nerds like me that play Magic. I would 100% recommend going to Alternate Universe over any comic/card shop. If your a nerd around echo park who loves comics, card games, and toys, its a must go.

The epitome of a good comic store, but so much more.It was hard not to notice the galaxy painted on the side of the building as I drove down Sunset Blvd. Every time I drove by it caught my eye. “Alternate Universe ...” I pondered what wonders could behold me dare I enter such a mysterious place. I could not resist for long. Upon crossing the threshold I was instantly rewarded by the sound of an activated lightsaber. A fortuitous sign. Two long tables take up the center of the room, a pair of Magic aficionados dueling across from each other. Another smaller table takes up horizontal space below them, stacked with the newest releases. On several walls are bookshelves, home to a rich assortment of graphic novels and comics. The shelves are well organized, hosting a balance of every possible title one could dream to read. Carefully curated display cases take up the other walls, their glass lined interiors boasting a fine collection of action figures, both modern and antique. Directly in front of the doorway is the counter, holding Magic cards and other related paraphernalia. The owner is a kind man, with a breadth of knowledge only surpassed by Yoda himself. On Friday nights he hosts Friday Night Magic, a wizards of the coast sponsored event, complete with referees. They also do drafts on the weekend when new series are released, as well as a variety of other events. Do not dally dear friend, this place is not to be missed. If you wish to enrich your life by adding one more special spot to your retinue, visit Alternate Universe.

Seem to have a decent Magic the Gathering crowd playing in shop on Fridays if thats your thing.

Pretty cool place, tons of new and old action figures and comics. They take credit and debit cards, theyre near a bus stop, friendly service, and you can even get your receipt emailed to you. groovy. Thirsty? yeah they also have a fridge stocked with sodas and cold beverages.

This is where I get my comics from, I have two titles in my pull I check for every other month and I love casually stopping by to check whats new or still solid. My own title sells here so I might sound biased but go see how Yelp treats this place Vs its competition in Silverlake, clearly this is the real deal.

Alternate Universe is easily one of my favorite stores in LA. The owner, Chris, is extremely knowledgeable and super friendly. His prices are great, and he often tries to be competitive with online retailers, which is rare for a small shop. Alt Verses selection is the best of any collectibles store in the LA area, especially on the east side. I strongly recommend stopping by.

I wanted to like this place more but I found it to be a bit claustrophobic with high shelves and narrow aisles. It is organized but it was impossible for me to find what I wanted, which was a female biography or autobiography as a gift for a friend.They dont have a specific biography section, the young lady working the register said, It depends on what they did. So I wandered through politics and art and film, not finding anything. I ended up leaving without a purchase.

Great staff. Events run very smoothly. Judges and community are a pleasure to be around.They have a great stock of card games, board games, comics, Funko thingys,old toys that I assume are collectible with drinks and a few snacks. Location next to sunset beer is very convenient as both can be enjoyed in a single outing. Parking gets a little rough but surrounding streets will have an open spot nearby if you know where to look.

I would highly recommend Alternative Universe. My sister and I were greeted with a smile the owner was very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. This was my 1st time there very nice shop they have alot of comic,toys and cards stuff was really nice and friendly made me feel welcome I played my 1st magic tournament here they have standard on Thursday good turn out was about 20 people they have good space so didnt feel all cramped inside the shop would definitely recommend this shop for anyone that likes comics,toys or card games. They also have good prices for items, will definitely come back

I love that they have a ton of back issues (which many comic stores no longer carry), toys, game cards, and collectibles of allkinds.(Update)This is now my local regular go to for my monthly comics. Friendly people, knowledgeable and willing to help, order or look for whatever youre after. Check this place out. Not as drank as Secret Headquarters but i find it much more inviting and real.

This nice little independent toy store is a good choice if you want to avoid the nuttiness and bland toy selection of places like Toys-R-Us or Wal-Mart. Their selection is geared more towards unique hands-on, learning, and outdoor toys, so you wont find Gi Joe, Barbie, or Bratz here. Theyll do gift wrapping too upon request.

Sooo Ive been here a total of 3 times and its usually pretty empty. Ive never met the owner. I have, however, met the Asian girl twice and the really skinny guy that likes to read comic books, who told me that he was more into that than MTG. I told both of them that I was new to MTG and that I was trying to gain more xp by playing with anyone that was available. I was told to come to one of the Friday events and so I did. The final time that I arrived, there were lots of people there so I was excited thinking that I might find someone to play with. I made my way to the Asian girl and asked her if there was anyone that I could play with casually and she told me that they had an event going on and that it would end around 1030 or 11 and that she wasnt PAID to stay longer. The last part was a bit rude and I guess she realized that bc then she told me that I could join their FB group and ask someone to play there, but tbh after the lackluster welcome that I received during each instance theres really no reason Id want to go back. I got the feeling that they just wanted me to buy something and get out so that they could continue doing nothing. Its a real shame, but Ill just have to continue looking for a welcoming card shop with more professional staff. 😊

Im in California for vacation but wanted to pick out he new issues of rebirth before they got off the shelves. This shop was great. Laid out the newest issues on table in front of you, had merchandise that rivals the best comic shops of nyc. I also noticed that they had card tournaments here which is something rare in comic shops in nyc. This is an ideal comic book shop and Ill be visiting next time in the area
