Easily my favorite place to be on Venice Blvd. Quality community cycle people experience. Gentle sorts of all types eager to help you get your bike right. Highly recommend you fix your bike here, as this is an authentic co-operative bicycle service shop that truly serves the community and while we’re there together we get to experience a great place for building community. Take your kids here and teach them how to change their bike tube. Someone will be thrilled to walk you through it. They’re just that kind of peeps! Rave.

This place is the BEST! Because of Covid, their services are limited, but they are happy to sell bike parts so you can do your own repair and have a safe chat about how to do it yourself. Very busy at times, so the volunteers arent always able to give everyone one-on-one attention, but their passion for bikes, biking, and helping people with both is really wonderful. My neglected commute bike turns out to have a lot of life left in it, and I was almost ready to throw it out. I never would have put the time or effort into it if all the tools and equipment werent available here.

I first went here to get a new tube for a flat tire on my bike that was given to me, which I’ve been riding for some months. I was told it had been hit by a car and I thought that was why the back tire was rubbing on the frame. Turns out after going back today and asking someone to look further into it, my back axle was broken and was causing my back tire to slow me down and damage the tire, making me peddle twice as hard. Tyler, the volunteer who helped work on my bike was fantastic. He took the time and patience to check everything and did not stop until he found the problem. He was more helpful than anybody else I could have imagine taking this bike to and was teaching me along the way. I was thankful they took Apple Pay to pay and tip with my phone for the services. I am really lucky to have stumbled upon this place and love that I live so close to the shop for any future needs. I highly recommend them!

A total gem! Please support your local bike co-op, consider volunteering your time, and tip if you can. A great place to get help with style and level of bike. This place is great. If your a cyclists who loves to fix their own bicycle then this is the place to go.I did notice that volunteers were being selective about which people to help. People with less nicer looking bikes tend to be ignored. That usually makes a person feel lemons for the place. But the price to fix your own bike cant be beat especially the knowledge you gain as well.

I dont know jack about bikes so I was a little intimidated at the prospect of a DIY shop, but all the volunteers were super helpful. My bike is an older English model but they got me set up with the right tools so I could replace my saddle and adjust some squeaky brakes. They walked me through the whole process and also set me up with the lights, bell, and bottle cage I wanted. All new parts (they also have a wide selection of used) and an hour and a half of shop time came to $35. Will def return to learn more/as I update my bike.

This was my first time to any bike repair place, so I was a little intimidated. This place is great! They have bins full of bike parts that are inexpensive (most of their parts are donated) and a whole selection of tools and oils. You just put the bike on a stand and do whatever you want to it.My bike needed cleaning, re-oiling, brake pad repair and a wheel straightened. I kept mentioning this was my first visit, and they taught me everything. This is a DIY bike repair shop, but you should be able to handle most tasks unless its super intensive.I was there around two hours because I was thorough and didnt want to rush. My bike is nearly as good as new.And it cost $14! Other bike places were charging $75 - $100 for the same services. Plus, I now know how to do my own repairs now.DEFINITELY RECOMMEND!

Inexpensive bike repairs + DIY instruction = the best bike shop around. If youre interested in learning more about bikes and gaining the basic skills needed to work on them, this place is for you.For 7 bucks an hour (plus the cost of any parts you need), a volunteer will guide you through the process of assessing and repairing your bike.Ive experienced varying hands-on levels. Some work on the bike for you and explain as they go along. Others explain each step and watch as you work. Everyone is friendly and accommodating. So if you want to do more (or less) of the work yourself, just let them know.If there is a lot of work that needs to be done to your bike, you can store it for up to a month. They accept bike donations - which they either restore and sell, or break down into used parts that they sell for super cheap. They are open on evenings and weekends but sometimes close early if no one comes in. So be sure to check the hours and call if you come later.

This place is like my church. I go here to unwind, relax, and work on my ride. The people who devote their time and energy in helping others are fantastic. Everyone is kind, welcoming, and eager to lend a hand. Ive been to the shop about a dozen times, and each time go I learn something new about my bike -- how to fix a flat, how to replace a tire, how to install brakes, how to keep installed brakes from squeaking, etc.. I highly recommend coming by the shop to work on your bike yourself, rather than spending the money for someone else to do it. The takeaway is so much better!

New to LA & eager to fix up a newly acquired bicycle, I luckily stumbled upon this place while looking for an affordable bike repair shop. I had called a handful of local bike shops to inquire about rates for a tuneup & received such lackluster input, I knew it wasn’t worth my time or business to go that route. I learned how to clean my hubs, re-grease my bearings, bring my chain back to life, switch out new tires, & patch an inner tube all for $66! If you have the time to learn, a healthy attitude, and want to support the cooperative culture of Venice, check this place out!

I am coming back and anxious to learn more. My old bike is running perfectly. Fantastic shop.

One of the workers helped me understand more about how my rear derailleur works. He was decently hands-off. He would come by for a bit and explain something to me and then walk away while I made the adjustment. Then he would come back and check up on me. Rinse and repeat. Though I didnt totally like this because I didnt feel very competent, I think that it will result in me being more competent in the long run, so I am grateful for that. And the guy who helped me didnt even charge me because I spent ~30 minutes in the shop, total. And my rear derailleur is so much better now, and I can probably fix it on my own now!

Cant complain, its definitely a useful bike shop, especially if youre on a budget. Totally awesome place to get your bike repaired. You rent the time/space on the bike rack from them. They lend you their tools that are on-hand, some expertise if needed, and you repair / upgrade your bike on your own. Really cool idea, and this is a bike co-op, not a for-profit bike shop. Most (if not all?) of the people who work here are unpaid volunteers. Ive been here a few times in the past, and have gotten lots of work done for a good deal, and met some really cool locals while in the process.

Best shop around. Everything is priced to sell, tons of used parts, sometimes extremely high quality for extremely cheap. The new parts are cheap as well. Extremely knowledgeable staff from simple fixes to technical ones, they wont do the work for you, but they will guide you through every step of the repair and help when you needed so you can learn bike repair for yourself. Stand time is cheap too $4-1/2 hour $7-hour and free for SMC students as long as you have the valid semester sticker. Great place, go check it out, theres even sweet chalk drawings in the bathroom.

If you bike more than a few times a month, and especially if you take your trusted steed out on sandy paths on one of our most-of-the-year gorgeous SoCal days, youll need some expert help keeping your bike happy and healthy. Thats where the friendly, if slightly grungy, folk at Bikerowave come in. Visit the happily haphazardly-decorated storefront on Venice Blvd just East of Centinela and pay a mere $4 per half-hour or $7 per hour of rack-time (that means the pole your bike gets clamped to so that its raised up to working height) and a volunteer will coach you through the hands-on simple procedures any bike needs for regular maintenance. For a little more money, theyll do the work for you. Bonus: A great taco truck has a regular spot nearby. Try the Sopes made by the friendly folk at Cemitas.
