Came here with the family and everyone enjoyed their breakfasts! The service was great and the food was amazing. My waffles totally hit that comfort food spot and the cinnamon was a great touch. The omelette menu is huge too! You can definitely find what you’re looking for no matter what your craving is.Also, they have $12 bottomless mimosas on Saturday so I’ll have to be back for that!
October 19Good choicehe ABC avocado bacon cheese Omelette side of sour cream with spinach on the side. And sour dough toast. Was excellent and very nice waitress good service. A little pricey with no complaints.
The food was okay but the atmosphere was fun! My burger was cooked well but the kitchen put everything on it including cheese which I asked them not to because my stomach cant process cheese well. So their solution was just scrape it off and flip the Burger on the bun and hope i didnt notice.
This place is so delicious and very comfortable to dine at in a nice casual outdoor seating area. So nice to enjoy an amazing breakfast meal while visiting California, even during this crazy pandemic. Staff are super friendly and handle food and customers with care. Don’t miss this place if you’re near.
I was served by Brianda, she was great. I told her to surprise me with the hotsauce and the one she picked was pretty mild (I dont look like I can handle spicy things). My boyfriend died a little bit which shows the difference in our spice tolerance. The food was so good, and the price was extremely nice for this area, especially with how much food you get. I ended up stuffing myself because it was too good to leave any for later. The spuds especially, they were so good!
So much flavor, personality, and customer service! I encourage you all to visit.
Great service, real food/organic,delicious c hicken fried steak tender not to heavy, not to thick, no grizzle or fat... qualityprice is right! After living in Long Beach for many years today was the first time I ever ate there ...sorry I waited so long!Eggs were great Frenchtoastkabob !Check out the menu I would definitely recommend it!
Great food. Nice table outside. Gluten free pancakes for my wife.
Wondeful Place, had the opportunity to meet the owner, customer service is outstanding. Food good. You must visit!!!!
Great food and better service. The French Toast, Chicken & Waffles were DELICIOUS!
My wife loves their gluten-free pancakes! Highly recommended
My go to hot food breakfast place. Their menu has something for everyone and more.
A very good variety of breakfast meals including many tasty Mexican dishes. The food is always very good and the service always friendly. Not impressive looking but dont judge this book by its cover.
We came here after the Annual Granada 4th of July parade. We been here before and never had such horrible service and will not return again.Reason for the two star review and not a one star - We came in a group of 4 people, a toddler, and an infant. The manager moved us to a less cramped table (very much appreciated). Our waitress in this new area was named Maddison (was on the receipt - in case it may be the wrong person she had bright red hair with black roots pulled back in a bun) she gave me a coffee that had a gnat in it and when I told her there was a bug in my coffee she goes Sorry. She looks at my spoon (had the bug in it) and goes That is just a coffee grind, but ill get you a new coffee and shakes her head and walks off. Now there is a clear difference between a coffee grind and a gnat (the coffee grind CLEARLY had wings!). I dont know about you but do you want some coffee with your bugs? LIKE no. A simple sorry and kept it going would have been fine. Also, there was no need for an apology when the next remark was rude and insulting (everyone at the table confirmed it was a bug). I understand it is the 4th of July and working on a Holiday sucks, but there is no need to make people feel uncomfortable. The food was good. But this experience will not make me want to come back.
This food was top shelf. I ordered chicken fried steak with biscuits and gravy, with 2 bottles of blue moon . Beer was cold food was great and the service was polite
Ive gone to The Potholder for years for breakfast. Today I ordered takeout and had an awful experience. I went to pick up my order on time and they had it sitting out on a table. It looked like it was sitting there for a while so I asked the waitress if it had been sitting there long. She gave me a dirty look, said I dont know and turned her back to me. And of course, the food was so cold I couldnt even eat it. There are much better places to eat breakfast in Long Beach than The Potholder.
Busy! All things yum. Explains crowd. Carry-out easy.
Friendly service and good food. Coffee was never empty. Great local spot.
I bought my home in the Belmont Heights area of Long Beach in 2000 and discovered the POTHOLDER almost immediately. My career has had me bouncing around the country for the last 17 years but Im back in the neighborhood. Couldnt wait to introduce my wife to this fabulous, local breakfast & lunch dive just 2 blocks from home. I was pleasantly surprised at the great upgrades the new owner, Michael has done to the place. It still has a great, funky feel, just upgraded funky. Before Covid, Saturday or Sunday meant 60 - 90 minute waits to get a seat. That should (and does) speak volumes for the food. Always tasty, great portions and great service to match. If youve never been, you owe it to yourself to give it a shot. And after youve been there, you too will be telling others to EAT AT THE POTHOLDER. (Youll understand after youve visited.) :-)
Katie was awesome seemed like she was running the place by herself
Go their all the time.dit spendy sit the food and atmosphere are real good,be hungry.
There are restaurants that are good and restaurants that creates an everlasting experience. Potholder is one of those. Ive ate at many Michelin starred restaurants and many have been the latter of my expectations. Potholder cafe in Belmont created a memorable experience due to the hospitable and caring service with food that reminds me of a caring father making breakfast for the fam on the weekends. The Chef seasoned the dishes near perfection and flavors combinations are comforting to the soul. Highly recommend!
Great food and amazing service!
Very good Vegetarian options and food was delicious and generous quantity. Will definitely visit more.
This place has been around for decades, and they still make excellent food. The pancakes are top notch!
Food was good but I accidentally left my card there & they say no one has seen it. SMH!
I ordered takeout from here and loved it! My favorite food item was the French toast. It tastes sweet and buttery at the same time and has the perfect texture.
They didnt have Hot tea, not everyone drinks coffee.
Highly recommend their Vegan Benedict! Delicious and reasonably priced
Excellent, friendly neighborhood service. Large space accommodates a variety of brunch group sizes. Also, they are open for regular business. We had a lovely breakfast there with our two infants today, June 7, 2020, and they were helpful and welcoming. We’ve been here many times, and the Potholder just gets everything right. That tasty chewable ice, fluffy pancakes, accurate orders served hot and fast, plastic straws(shhh please don’t ruin this).
Great service, great food, and the ambience is always warm and welcoming...
I drove 18miles and ordered Tims dug out breakfast, by far The worst meal ive ever I had.. The potatoes were old, dark, cold and flavorless. The French toast was shameful as well. Four intsy bitsy pieces of meat maybe an ounce worth. Whats worst is I went to a nearby park to eat, no utensils. Worst experience ever!
Poor slow service, not worth coming to again
Used to go to this place years ago. Was happy to go back and enjoy the food just as much. My server I remember from back then as well and was just as friendly as before. Great food. Great service. Parking is tough though. Very. And they serve a great mimosa.
Very good food my first time eating here I would definetly come again I had the mac daddy one 18inch pancake eggs and sausage finished the pancake and got a t-shirt
Great service from a sweet lady today in the morning. Looking forward to come back for the mimosas
The food is always delicious but the staff (except for 1 gentleman) was very rude while I was inquiring about my pick up order. Wont be coming to this location again
Our host was lovely food sucks
Dropped in for breakfast on a Saturday. The wait wasnt bad at all. Coffee was good and hot. Service was wonderful. Normally a good place and location for friends to gather. Now lets talk about the food. I like mine hot. Why get cold food? Todays food was as cold as Alaska. I ordered the basic eggs over medium, pork sausage, hash browns and sour dough toast. Nothing was the way it should have been. Toast so cold butter didnt melt, eggs so hard I could have broken a window with them. And the pork sausage lets use it as the sole for shoes. Meals are normally pretty good but this was a strike out.
The food is not the problem. The problem is the costumer service. If you have problems with costumers picking up their food late, then you should not put out pick up as an option in your service. Have two potholders in Long Beach is confusing and it’s not your customers fault if we pick up food late, we paid for it and we are picking it up. Check your servers attitude for pick up your pick up services. Thank you.
Great little place! Service was fast and helpful. Our waitress was nice, knowledgeable, and quick with any requests. We will definitely be back the next time we are in the area.
This place is great for breakfast. Its got an old fashioned diner vibe with lots of food options. I always get the flakey french toast, but I get it with fruity pebbles instead of cornflakes. Its really good!
My friend brought me here for the first time. The sailor omlette was one of the best Ive ever had. Service was amazing!
This place is an institution in the LB breakfast scene. Weekends usually have long lines, although sitting at the counter is still a favorite of mine.We were in no hurry to eat, which was a good thing. Service today was slow, parts of our order never made it to our table, and a few things were completely missed - empty water glasses waiting to be filled, and not checking on things like if we had ketchup or enough forks (we were short one place setting until my wife got up and got one herself). The food is still healthy portions and the egg omelettes were fresh and served hot. Nothing fancy, just good wholesome eating.Ill come back, I always will. After all, its an institution. 3 stars.
I came to pick up a Postmates order, and was ignored by all of the waitresses and hostesses. I had to walk in and hunt down an employee to get them to service me. I am trying to observe social distancing, but none of your employees observed me. I will never eat here again. All of the white guests were addressed and served immediately. I however, a black male, was not. I am severely disappointed.
Our Omelettes were above average in quality. The chicken, however, didnt taste fresh and tender, but rather like carried over from the other day. My son enjoyed their salsa. Coffee was average but refills were frequent. Service was attentive and friendly.
Great food, good service. Friendly neighborhood feel. Big portions and bottomless mimosas on Saturdays. We love going here
I have be come there since High school. It the Best, and has been able to keep the Authentic of the Mother & Father who original establish.Oh, the children - take over-- had a great vision an went with it.Job well done.
I love the potholder cafe. My favourite is the ABC omelette, so tasty. I love the atmosphere and the helpful staff. If I lived in Long Beach, I would go all the time.
Great neighborhood restaurant. Great food and service
Great spot for breakfast. Always great service and you can even sit on the patio with your dog. Another Long beach favorite for us!
The best breakfast place in Long Beach! Try the Super Spuds because they are the bomb!
Great place to stop and get breakfast before you head to the dog beach... super friendly staff!
I got a basic breakfast and i thought it was good but basic. my girlfriend ate the chorizo and egg dish which was really good. the portion size was good and would stop by here again if Im in the area. also its right next to a cannabis club for any connoisseurs of both
Our friends live over on Molino, so we all walked over to The Potholder for breakfast on a recent morning. It wasnt crowded on arrival and we had our choice of tables in the second of four dining rooms that it expanded into over the years. We sat in front, enabling us to see the colorful street scene as well as through the archway into the first room and front door.
The food is SOOOOO GOOOOODDDDD! tastes fresh and home made
I love this place! Try the Couch its enough for 3 . Good customer service, great coffee! Excellent menu choices even for you gluten free ppl! 😀

Very cute. Service friendly, but a bit haphazard that day. Gluten free pancakes tasted slightly undercooked. I dont think they were, but rather because of the specific mix of flour. Would try again. Pancakes were HUGE!
I loved this breakfast place! So much so, that my family visited this place two weekends in a row. We all got their stuff toast and it was so yummy. My mom had the banana nut French toast and it was the best. I had strawberries and so did my brother. The wait was a bit long, but their so good its worth it. Best to go early on the weekends. The décor is cute, a bunch of pictures of people with their stickers in different destinations. There is also indoor and outdoor seating available. Parking is a hassle, but its Long Beach, its to be expected. I will definitely be going back to this place. 😊
Always a pleasure. Great food and great staff. Also dog friendly out on the patio!!
This is obviously a very high trafficked cafe. We unfortunately had bad timing because we waited about 20-30 minutes to be seated. I had asked for a table and got a booth. We should have just eaten at the counter but when I am with my family, I like to eat at a table so we can converse and opted to wait. I gave this cafe a three because service wasnt as good as it could have been. Our waitress spilled coffee when refilling a cup (spilled a cup of water at someone elses table all over customer); and took multiple visits before I got my cup of water. My husband didnt enjoy his steak and mushroom sandwich - his complaint was that it didnt have any flavor. My daughter and I enjoyed our food, cheeseburger and club deck sandwich. All were served with curly fries and tasted good. The establishment inside and out is pretty dated. If that or the wait dont bother you, then give it a try. Many customers who came in didnt want to wait and left. No parking lot - street parking.
Potholders is not bad. Really enjoyed the huge pancakes. The waitress was to just talking away while my food was just sitting there. Overall not bad but bit pricey.
Bottomless mimosas on Saturdays and great food, need I say more?
Consistently a great breakfast!!!
Pros - The food is great, the ambiance is nice and the staff are friendly.Cons - Parking is hard to find. If you go on a weekend it’s even worse, wait times go up and sometimes you wait 30 - 45 minutes for your food to get to the table.
The potholder was amazing food. They have the best menu and put all of your favorite breakfast foods and put it on one plate. They have huge portions so i would recommend showing up hungry. The prices were decent for the amount of food and they have a great patio. We will certainly be back when ee are in the area.
Food was delicious, alot of options in menu.I tried the Mexican plate. Only problem was the elder gal didnt pay that much attention to our table. She was having a great time with everyone else and checking the other tables that she didnt even know, But she never came to our table and asked us how we were doing. One of my friends needed a napkin and kept waving at her like 7 times. She pretended like she didnt see us. Until he finally got up a ask if he could get a napkin. She still responded like wait im finish with this oher table. I think she didnt want us there. But anyways i still left them a nice 10dollar tip. I felt that the place and other employees were great except that gal. No hard feelings i will be back and see how i get treated again.
Pretty good food. Cool place. Stuffed French toast is intense
The waitress Katie was very friendly! Me and my wife and friends will definitely come back. And the breakfast was delicious!
I arrived at about 11:15 am on Presidents day and there was about 7 couples outside waiting to be seated. I was already prepared to wait for a bit so this was not a surprise.I walked around the restaurant before I was seated and checked out the three different room that they had for dining. It was interesting to see how the different rooms where decorated and you can see how they expanded the restaurant over the years. There are pictures of people standing at places all over the world holding Eat at the Potholder signs which was pretty cool. I even saw one on a jet of some kind. They hook you up with a free breakfast if you bring in your picture taken in a different part of the world so that is pretty fun.The only parking that I was able to find was on the street and this is a very crowded area of Long Beach. Luckily I had a small car and we were able to find a spot up the first street and about 10 cars down which equated to a short 3 minute walk.I had the Ortega Chili Scramble and my wife had the Eggs Benedict. Both dishes where awesome and totally worth the wait.
Very warm feeling. Same people working there for years. Great food, lots of options. Recommend upgrading to super spuds. Check out the daily specials.
This location is a Long Beach staple. One of my favorite places to go ever . no matter what time of day. It has an expansive menu great selections for vegetarian. You could eat here once a week and never have the same thing twice.
Ive been going to the Broadway location for years, and Im very Disappointed with the new owners changes. The friendly waitresses cant be themselves, every worker seem very uptight, and the Country music doesnt belong in that Restaurant.... I really feel like they will continue to lose business if he doesnt go back to the old ways. If it aint broke; Dont fix it.......Hopefully our local spot will come back, and I Hope the owner realizes that his changes are pushing people away........
Food was amazing and so was the service! I absolutely loved it! Be ready for big portions though, probably should have someone to split it with.
Classic and creative
1st visit to Potholders Cafe 3700 E Broadway Long Beach. Exuberant KATIE started us off from the sign-in sheet. Wow! What a perfect hostess/waitress! Ya gotta come here just to see & get the awsome Katie experience!!!❤❤❤
