What a charming, charming book store that looks like its right out of Notting Hill in London! From the moment you walk in the door, it captivates you and draws you into the heart of the store. It was so pretty, so clean it was refreshing, the layout is really great - they even have a reserved area to do meet and greets with authors! I felt like I walked back in time and loved every minute of being there. =)
I love wandering through bookshops. Today was different. I was pretty much followed through the whole place. I was dressed decently enough (jeans and a cardigan with my hair in a bun), I dont carry an oversized bag (small Kate Spade big enough for my wallet), I basically dont act like I am trying to conceal anything. When I got to the register two people came from the around the corner, I presumed to ensure I paid for everything. I have never felt so unwelcome in place that I have always found solace and encouraged to wander and get lost in the magic of books. :(
Everyone was so helpful and so nice to talk to! I cant wait to go back for the holiday season! Thank you 😊
Like the Colfax location way better. The ladies working that weekend werent very friendly. I felt judged, but dont know for what. Cause I was the only one wearing a mask in that store maybe? Who knows. Not coming back here.
Best. Bookstore. Ever. Any location. Wish they would set up shop next door to me in the house for sale.😉 I would settle for Southlands or Main Street in Parker. Pretty please?
Love it here! Just like a bookstore should feel. Invites you in with that wonderful book smell to find your next adventure! No blaring music and still has seats for you to cozy up in to read a few pages before you buy. So many little notes about staff favorites littered throughout the shelves to guide you along as well!
A nice selection of new and used books. Very welcoming and charming environment. Friendly and helpful staff. Worth checking out!
Wonderful book store with great service! Vast selection of books and novelty items. The staff is also knowledgeable, kind and helpful!
Just a neat shop...does the original proud...like how its laid out. Great location with other great shops!
My 1st time in this location. Very nice and very helpful. Turned out the book I was looking for was self published and not available.
Beautiful, brilliant bookstore. Great staff, our fave for books!
Great store, friendly, attentive knowledgeable staff. Great location, easy to access & plenty of parking.
The best independent bookstore in the world! So helpful, great atmosphere.
Really cute book store. Love the way they had the books set up. Love that they had some used books as well.
Excellent customer service. Its really great to find bookstore staff who have actually read and are really passionate about the books that they sell.
Coolest book store Ive ever been to!
Great local bookstore chain! Love the staff recommendations.
Clean and quiet plenty of selection
Located a series of books thst I want to use my gift card on
Lovely and knowledgeable staff willing to help in whatever way they can. Perfect place to get lost.
I could spend all day in this bookstore!
Wish I would have visited sooner. I really love tattered cover
I honestly hope this place stays around for a long while. With all the cheap books on Amazon, its really difficult for book stores to stay on top but Im always willing to support local when its places like this.Next time you need a good read, head on over. The staff is top notch and the highlighted reviews and recommendations taped to the shelves are a great insight.
This location is always a relaxing and friendly environment. The staff are always helpful and the store has been taking many precautions during the pandemic to keep customers safe. This is one of my favorite spots in town
If only it was possible to bottle and sell the unique odor of old books. Like all other Tattered cover bookstore locations, the workers are extremely knowledgeable, helpful, and kind. If for some extremely unique situation they do not have a book, and they cannot get it in a reasonable time, they will tell you honestly where you can get it. If they have the book at another location, they will usually have it by the next business day. If you need it immediately, they will reserve it for you at the other location. What more can you ask from a bookstore?
I love books, especially if my 3000 book collection is any indication. And Tattered Cover is always a must go to place when I head up to Denver. Their selection is great and I can easily spend hours in there. Great local gifts available there, as well. Definitely worth going to over and over and over again!
Love them because cozy book nook design pleasant staff nice experience. Same $$ as online discount. Carson Park is right there so both great expectations 😃Colorado
The experience is virtually the same as Barns n Noble. Pretty good but not extrordinary.
Great independent bookstore. This location has a good selection and inviting atmosphere. You are free to browse at your leisure and theres some comfortable seating. The layout is easy to navigate with everything well marked and organized. Staff is friendly. They also accept used books in exchange for store credit (1 bag/box at a time). They evaluate your books quickly and provide a gift voucher based on their value. Lastly, its easy to find parking here unlike the LoDo location, which is a big plus.
Oh, Tattered Cover! How we cant wait until this pandemic is over and we can linger, as one should, in your aisles and sweep a wondering hand along the spines of your tombs. Buy here or buy from them online so that this dream, this wish, can come true. Read, read, read a real book like your life depends on it. Your soul does!
Great customer service!
Great local bookstore! Smaller than other TC locations, but no less delightful!
Great people and great selection. Support local!
Awesome people. I had been looking for a book all over Denver and called them to get it. I was in San Francisco but was trying to surprise a friend with the book as a gift. I paid for it over the phone, and when she showed up it was waiting for her beautifully gift wrapped. THANK YOU!
I love book stores and the Tattered Cover is at the top of my list. I enjoy the nooks created by tall wooden book shelves. I love the collection of antique chairs inviting you to sit and read for a while. I enjoy reading the staff picks. I could spend hours breathing in the books.
Great selection on New and used
So thankful to shop local. Great selection and service
Such a Nice Book store.
Love this bookstore! Went to the main one last time I visited Colorado and just absolutely fell in love with the atmosphere. Found some amazing books and some signed book finds. There are new and used, hardback and paperback.
Beautiful place. Friendly staff. However, many sections were quite bare.
We have very fond memories of time spent in the old location and at The Forth Floor restraunt, so it was nice to be able to wonder around with my in-laws on a Saturday evening after dinner. Although the space is significantly smaller, the quiet energy that makes a book store so lovely is still present. The people working here are helpful and the selection of both books and other novelties is wonderful. Stop in to browse, buy a book, or a gift and then go get some Sees Candy or ice cream at Cold Stone!
A really well stocked bookstore, including select used books. I can always find a good selection within my field of interest. And the staff knows their business.
Love the smaller bookstores. Good selection. Neat gift ideas too! They have book study groups and author reading.
I had a store credit a neighbor gave me from a favor so I go in to use it and told the clerk that I thought that there was $18.02 on it and this old guy scowls at me and says rather rudely Looks like it! I asked if he could check it before I shopped for a book and this guy had wasnt friendly at all. I found myself needing some help after a bit but I wasnt about to ask him so I just grabbed something I thought the wife might like, paid and got out of there 😣 And they wonder why people shop on Amazon 🤣
Standard cute bookstore! Definitely a smaller location/selection than the main one downtown, but its still a pleasant visit. Comfy seats and very immersive with all of the books climbing up the walls. Definitely has the same ambiance as the other one and they utilized their smaller space well!
Best book store around. Im not into books, but my wife is, so I enjoy coming with her and wondering the store.
We normally love coming her and would give it a 5. But when we were up this weekend to spend an afternoon as we live in Monument, it was very cold in there because they have no heat! Apparently this has been true for a week. This is not good for business especially for those of us who aren’t just running in for something but wanted to do some concentrated reading and journaling time. I get if this were a second or third world county but....it’s not. Why the employees and customers have to be cold inside when it’s already cold outside is sad to me. People had their winter jackets on and even blankets. What would it take to fix this?
Great place! Cozy, nice folks.
Colorados own used books store. A wonderful atmosphere for browsing and great selection of books. Also ask about their blind date with a book, this is by far the coolest thing I have ever seen in a book store. Tattered cover impressed me 4 years ago when I moved here and has been my go to place for books ever since. If you love books and supporting local businesses then please atleast stop by one of their locations and take a look.
Nice staff. Very cozy and feels like home. Had a lot of interesting gifts and knickknacks. Local writers and artists work were displayed there as well.
Smaller than some of the other locations, but just as incredible. Super helpful staff, great collection of books, cozy and welcoming vibe.
The Aspen Grove store IS EMPTY right now but dont let this temporary change keep you from shopping at this wonderful bookstore in future.
If you wonder why online shops put local shops like this out of business, my experience is a good example of what causes this.I wanted to get a book for my wife. Easy to sit at my desk and order it online, but I really prefer to keep my $ local. So, I look at Tattered Covers site and, sure enough, they have it on their shelves.Hop in the car, drive 25 minutes. Get to Tattered Cover, stand in line, ask for help finding the book. Im told that all copies in house are on reserve. I ask why, if thats the case, does it show as available on the website? Im told that it is up to me to call and confirm that the information on the website is accurate... Seems to me, it should be on the store to ensure accuracy, not on me to check and re-check.While I am there, they order a copy for me.Several days later, I get a call, the book is in. Great! I hop in the car, drive 25 minutes, stand in line. When I get the book, its damaged. I see several other copies on the shelf and ask if I can have one thats in better shape. Im told that those copies are on hold for other customers. So, I just randomly get the damaged one. How nice for me. Perhaps it could have been noted when they left the message - Your book has arrived, but its damaged. Please let us know if you want it or if we should order another, or something along these lines. The clerk has a look and sees a other location has a copy available. Calls them - nope, they dont have it. So their internal inventory isnt any better than the online inventory. What a mess.Heading home now. Will buy this book from Amazon as much as I would have preferred to shop local.Bummer.*** Update: They called after I posted this review, offered to order in a copy and mail it to me. Sorry, but after the first two tries, I really dont trust them to get it right. Not putting my eggs in their basket again.
In a world where brick & mortar bookstores are going the way of Blockbuster Video & You Store (Brick & Mortars), I feel extremely lucky to have 3 Tattered Cover Bookstores still in operation near the Denver Metro area. However, that being said, this is not the Tattered Cover Bookstore experience that anyone whos visited the Downtown Denver (Old School) location would expect and hope for. This is basically a 25% (if that) replica model of that original downtown store. While the staff was great and the store itself had the cozy vibe of the downtown Tattered Cover, this would be more fitting in an airport or with an Express- like moniker added to the stores name. They have books and seating but just make sure to calibrate your expectations accordingly.
You want books? They have them... go and stock up.
My wife and I love coming to this quaint and cozy store to read at nights. The selections are great and the books are reasonably priced. Weve always had great interactions with the staff when purchasing books (Especially the gentleman with the thick mustache). We enjoy that the store seems to be aimed more towards people reading, rather than going to a book store to be on their laptop.
Didnt have what I wanted but the gentleman was very helpful.
Whack and expensive
Atmosphere its great, staff is helpful, selection is decent. What puts this place over the top is being able to order from their massive online catalogue and pay with cash when I pick them up. One of the only stores around where that is possible.
Great place to read especially in the cold! I enjoyed the overall feel and atmosphere of the store. I definitely will be going back there soon. Lots of variety on new books as well!
Extremely cozy with books you know the staff care about. Not just a corporate machine trying to get you to buy whatever garbage is being pushed by the corporate offices. Loved it.
Can’t tell you how much I love this book store. The Tattered Cover represents and is everything wonderful about bookstores. Their staff are very knowledgeable and pleasant to interact with and the atmosphere begs for you to sit and stay a while as you peruse the shelves and possibly read some. The location with the green carpet and small chairs and pews is my favorite. Please support this business!
Awesome book shop! We cannot let places like this go empty. Books still hold more value in the end vs tablets and phones. Five stars!
I love this place. They have so many great books! The staff is always helpful and nice.
Went to a book signing. It was an x-tra credit project for my daughters AP Literature class. More about the book and the author in a moment. The ladies who were working that night were the best. My daughter forgot her permission form and they did everything they could to help her get into her school website and let her send it to their personal email, then print it. A real life saver! So kind and helpful. The author is Karen Auvinen. The book is Rough Beauty, forty seasons of mountain living. It is a book about living in the mountains by herself for 10 years. Her sidekick is her beloved Husky, Elvis. Its a book about a non conformist who chafes at the traditional expectations society has for a woman. Its a book about how living with nature shapes and changes you. And for someone who never needed anybody she sure built a tight community of amazing friends. If you love the outdoors. If you love dogs. If you love to hike and if you love food this is the book for you.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this location!! Friendly staff, lots of books to choose from, and such a cozy and comfortable atmosphere. They even have events with authors here. Met one of my favorite authors here, such a cool experience!
This is an excellent bookstore that has a good selection to choose from. They also have used books that are sold for much cheaper than the price they are usually at, so keep an eye out for those! It did have a little coffee area at one point but they have gotten rid of it, so grab some coffee before you come to the store.
Cozy, independent bookstore. Not the most exhaustive selection, but the books they have are great. They have lots of chairs to sit and read. Every week they have an author speak. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful.
If you love books, you love Tattered Cover. This is a nice sized store with a nice selection. So happy paper books are making a comeback!
Fun, quirky store, wish the section on hiking climbing and outdoor things had a bit more.
I love Tattered Cover Bookstores. However, Im rating them four stars, not five, because they are not as Independent Author friendly as they used to be.
Tried out this bookstore because I kept hearing people say it was the best bookstore in town. If this is as good as it gets, I would hate to see what they consider the worst. For such a large space, this store has a pathetic selection of science fiction, poetry, and gender studies. I almost couldnt find these sections because they were so small. Oh, and some sections are randomly organized by title instead of author name, making it tedious to find what youre looking for - if they even have it. I only come here to shop for my young daughter - their kids section is decent. Still though. Disappointing. I hate ordering books online, but if this is the best that stores have to offer I am left with no other choice.
A spectacularly wide range of books can be found here from comics and design to travel and biographies. I especially like that there are quite a number of hidden seating places among the shelves to sit down and browse through books before you buy them.
This is a beautiful store. I was helped by a fantastic employee, Portia, she was friendly and helpful. I highly recommend and will be back!I returned today and was delighted to be helped by Portia again...5+ stars
Hohum selection of books.
For the love of reading, nothing compares to Tattere Cover. They just get the experience and joy of reading. Cant wait until the one in Westminster opens!
TC is a great indie bookstore, we are lucky to have one in Highlands Ranch. Great childrens section. The cafe has good tea. Some folks confuse it with a library and bring drinks from elsewhere and camp out all day on the wifi. The staff is very knowledgeable and has access to the other two TC stores in the area for quick orders.
Favorite Bookstore. Miss the old location (Will never support Michaels again - they are dirty dealers and do not deserve this communitys suppprt). Everyone at this store is deserving of customer praise.
Always a wonderful place to visit. The staff are incredibly friendly and the selection is wonderful.
I adore the Tattered Cover. Its fantastic to have an independent, local bookstore because the events they host are second to none. Thanks!
Spaces store, people and dog friendly!
The Tattered Cover Bookstore is outstanding as always. Although not as large as the original store, this bookstore is excellent and has a knowledgeable staff. A pleasure to visit.
Staff was attentive and kind, answered all my questions and the only thing I can maybe say was a drag was they where out of stock on a few titles I would have loved to pick up but what can I say the dark tower is popular
Had a lady tell me how to deal with my son. He had just woken up from a nap and was starting to throw a temper tantrum and the lady though I was berating him. 1. You have never seen the tantrum my son throws. Period. 2. Im in the store to look/but books not be told how to handle my son.I will never shop at this store again and tell every one about the horrible experience.
Great cozy place to spend a good time browsing and making your book selections without being hassled. Great staff and great selection.
Nice place. But they should maybe consider having book readings/signings in a different spot...away from the noisy childrens section.
Super cozy and homey, good selection of books, neat merchandise, comfortable places to sit (seriously--lush furniture and even a fireplace), and friendly staff!
This is a great shop, very friendly staff. Someone, I assume is posting on comic book and toy shops review pages, posing as me. But Im sure there is more than one John Hernandez on Google. But I want to assure everyone it is not me. That Dummy who posted a bad review even gave me a bad review at the Colorado Springs Flea Market, LOL, what a coward and an idiot!!
Awesome bookstore.
The one on Colfax will always be the best! This ones great in a pinch.
Wonderful throwback bookstore. Good selection, knowledgeable staff.
I just love this place and Im so glad its out here! Great books, obviously, but also they hold really interesting events!
This place is wonderful! Great people who go out of their way to help! Being a FOTC (Friends of Tattered Cover) I was able to buy a signed copy of Michelle Obamas book before they went on sale.
Stopped in and its a nice book shop. A but on the experience side but they did have a sweet fireplace where you could sit and read if you wanted too.
