I love Maps Coffee!!! Not only is the coffee (and chocolate) incredible, but Vincent was willing to teach me how to make espresso on my own machine. He was patient and really demonstrated how I could use it successfully. I dont know of anyone else who provides this service, but my experience here was amazing!!
Cozy locally owned coffee shop and chocolate makers. Great pour over coffee with tons of brews to choose from. Chocolate is delicious! Plenty of plugs for your electronics devices, and comfy seating.
Always a fantastic cup of coffee served with warm smiles and personal touches. Great selection of coffee and chocolate. I moved several states away, but I have yet to find a better choice than their milk blend.
Spacious, clean and welcoming space with an obliging staff. The coffee was fantastic, we got a rose latte (adorably delish) and a Mexican mocha (totally tasty.) The chocolate was so enticing I simply could not resist its siren song on the drive home. I feel no shame over my lack of self control and would do it again. Will defo be back!
Loved this place! You can try chocolate samples that they make in house. The coffee was delicious. Got an iced Americano with caramel. Whomever worked 10/16/21 was so knowledgeable and friendly.
We are about 7 months in from moving to this area, and I cant believe it took me so long to find this gem of a place! Maps is truly a diamond in the rough, with coffee being the diamond and the rough being a craft coffee-less Johnson County. Seriously though, its tough to find good local craft coffee around here, and MAPs is by far our first choice!Good feedback first: Their shop is so cool, very industrial! They roast all of their beans right behind the counter, so you can see the work they put in anytime you walk in. They also have some awesome Hario pour over products for sale in their lobby so even if you are waiting, its fun to just window shop that stuff.Their coffee is phenomenal. Freshly roasted, made with love (more on that in a second), and honestly just no BS! They charge a fair price for fresh beans, and the coffee is awesome. I am a personal favorite of their Guatemala medium roast, but I try something new every time I go!The best part by far though, is the people that work there. Everyone I interact with there is friendly, easy going, but the biggest thing: They REALLY care about coffee, and they really seem to love what they do. All of the people there are knowledgable, and they certainly know how to recommend whatever you need. If this place just sold good coffee, it would be good, but because the people are so awesome, this place is AMAZING.I dont really have much to complain about! These people are no BS, love their coffee, and are happy to talk about it. Absolutely would recommend to anyone!
The Grey Line is for sure something. Should have taken two of those. The dark 83% was, however, really good as well. Smooth and simply enjoyable. Really nice chocolates.Barbarically finished both in one go... I know I know...
I love the coffee so much here! I’ve never had coffee this good. The new pastries they have are made in such a wonderful way to send you to escape reality. (at least for a little bit). The chocolate is made without additives that heavily produced similar products use. But at maps they make the chocolate from the bean.
Sprint Espresso and Cadence blends are my favorites, throw backs to when the space doubled as a bike shop. I buy from out of state now, great shipping, very fresh and even offering different grinds. All packed neatly with a handwritten thank you. The Sprint blend starts the day and the Cadence is perfect for the earlier afternoon, great blends.
Best Cold Brew Ever. No competition. They said it’s a mystery blend so it’s always changing. I can’t wait to go back and try it again.Extremely knowledgeable about the blends when providing a recommendation for what roast to try. Very patient and helpful with anyone in line asking questions! My partner loved the Ethiopian blonde roast. We also tried the s’mores chocolate. The whole experience was just amplified when you take a bite of chocolate between sips of coffee. If you love coffee and/or chocolate, then you NEED to go to Maps!
Hidden Gem. Extremely kind and knowledgeable staff artfully roasting, grinding, and precisely measuring. A damn good cup of coffee every time.
Favorite coffee shop. They know their coffee and have excellent variety. Coffee is a bit more expensive but I dont mind paying more for fresh, high quality coffee. Staff is very nice and dont mind answering questions you have. Genuinely feel welcome when I walk through the door.
Absolutley delightful and fun! 100% I would go back and bring friends. Can we talk about the chocolate?? Because, between us... but the chocolate.
Such nice people and wonderful coffee and chocolate! Just tried the seasonal Bolivia today and sampled their new chocolate almond, so good!
Great coffee and awesome service. They made great personal recommendation...I wanted strong latte and was introduces to their Cortado... it was perfect. Only place in Kansas City making their own chocolate from scratch! Quiet friendly place to share a cup with a friend!
I went to take a chocolate making class and it was fantastic! Vincent delivered precise instructions, had many great stories, and gave lots of chocolate samples. He was able to explain the science of chocolate and its process. Their coffee was amazing; I drank the coffee black! It was that smooth and tasty. 10/10 would recommend for a follow-up class on making coffee and a visit for their coffee.
Amazing place, sweet people, great coffee to take home and adorable place to have a cup of coffee at.
This place is amazing. The staff is super friendly and eager to help as well as answer any questions .I highly recommend checking this place out, you won’t be disappointed!
I’ve been coming here since Vincent had the bike shop. Now days it’s the best coffee joint in KC and he also makes some killer chocolate. For me, based on the quality of the product it’s very affordable. I highly recommend you check this place out. The Milk blend is the best seller and that is what I get but I have no doubt the others are just as good.
Love this small business.I remember years ago I came here for a bike shop. Then moved out of KC. Recently moved back and found Maps.I love iced coffee drinks and by far this is the best place I’ve tried. I only drink decaf and they are 100% okay with making it.Love the atmosphere inside this shop.
Great coffee and chocolate! The employees love the company and are very helpful.
Very nice place! Smells fantastic, coffee is great, staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Will come back for more, and add some chocolate!
The best coffee on the planet! I love their friendly service and detail to each blend they roast. Just fabulous coffee. I am also proud of a local success story here in Lenexa. Hope for more seating or outdoor options when weather permits. My favorite place to meet friends.
Always the best quality and fresh roasted.
Its everything you want in a coffee shop, good vibes, great coffee, and nice staff. Go check it out!
One of the most unique shops around town! They only do pour over coffee (no drip), which is awesome to say the least. Had beans from Papua New Guinea for the first time ever. Started talking shop with the owner Vincent about bikes and had a great conversation. I will definitely be going back and getting beans the next time!
Maps Coffee has great drinks, great beans, and great chocolate.. All made in house! On top of that, they are doing a charity breakfast this morning for members of the Special Olympics. Thanks Maps
Great new to me place for coffee! Coffee lovers of all kinds will love this place. The menu is designed to showcase the coffees. And the staff is extremely knowledgeable of their products. I plan to be a regular!
I love this coffee shop! Vincent is an amazing guy. Although the menu is small, their coffee is absolutely amazing and it suits them well. I always get a hazelnut latte, and its easily the best hazelnut tasting drink Ive gotten anywhere in the area. Shop local! This place is fantastic. They also have chocolate made in store, and it is AMAZING! I highly recommend the pistachio or the milk mint flavor. Or even just try a little sample and find one for you. :)
Iced Americano and raspberry bar- DELICIOUS😋Staff was very friendly! ❤️
Great coffee, great chocolate and awesome staff!
This is cool looking store! Even so, perhaps it was just this one time but my drink was pretty bad. Either the fact that it was barely warm, Gingerbread syrup, Oat Milk, or the coffee itself being bad I couldnt finish it. I hope this isnt the case for anyone else. For me though, the coffee pastry cake was a bit disappointing as well. The menus wasnt up to date with incorrect price on milk and the small variety of syrups makes this a low priority option for me.
The coffee is amazing and the staff is great.
I start every day at our office with a pour over of Temple of the great Jaguar from Maps. All their coffees are excellent. This is a true coffee drinkers roaster, and I would recommend them to anyone. Also, the Bloc chocolatized coffee grounds is an absolutely outstanding product that more people need to know about!
Excellent coffee and amazing cold brew!
I didnt realize that Maps was the coffee collaborator on Boulevard beers Early Riser coffee porter, very cool!Vincent at Maps is making some EXCELLENT coffee in Lenexa, KS. Emily was very helpful and informative as I chose from their great selection of coffee beans. Went with the light roasted Guatemalan, Temple of the Great Jaguar. Oh yeah and they make their own chocolate too!I shall return again!
The Americano was delicious. No burnt after taste like happens with the chain franchise. Friendly staff.
Behind a veneer of a laid back local coffee joint with a smooth vibe (with equally smooth coffee) lies some serious coffee chops, technical roasting expertise and a passion for perfection. Vincent is welcoming, personable and takes the time to walk you though as much or as little as you want to know about what you’re about to enjoy. No sense of coffee snobbery here, folks. Just really good coffee. Impressive chocolate selection must not be overlooked. I can’t wait to get home to try this chocolate with the family! (If it makes it home..)
Very inviting interior. Comfortable. And the crew is so nice! Amazing drinks and their chocolate is made in-store and suuuuper yummy. 11/10 recommend :0)
Always a cheerful welcome! Best coffee and chocolate in town!
Vincent knows his stimulants! Always a distinct joy in handcrafted goods. Stop by and enjoy the smells!
Great coffee and fantastic service. A real gem in downtown Lenexa!
If you want coffee that is obsessively made by an owner who loves all things coffee and chocolate, this is your place.
Best coffee Ive ever had.
Chocolate is made in house and is wonderful. Staff is friendly and very welcoming. Will definitely be back.
Always a good cup of joe
Great coffee and great service!
Unreal delicious espresso!
Went there as a stop from a errand we were taking in KC. It specializes in two things, and both of them are really really good. Unfortunately, there isnt any atmosphere or seating, but thats okay, because the customer service was fantastic; The guy was really passionate about his craft, and explained how he did the different kinds of coffee, with genuine excitement. Id definitely go back when I have the chance!
Good coffee and aesthetically pleasing space.
One of my favorite places to go. The owner makes the most amazing coffee and chocolate! Hell even help you find the roast that is perfect for you. Milk is my personal favorite! Very friendly staff! My kids love the cookies that are as big as their face and equally delicious. I highly recommend Maps to anyone who is a lover of coffee and/or chocolate.
Great coffee, great coffee candy, great people! The owner is a pleasure to speak with and made another new friend while there also, a Vietnam veteran. My 5 minute stop was 1.5 hours. This is currently 4 stars because I havent tried the handmade chocolate yet. 😄☕💜
Found this place recently when searching for whole beans from a local roaster. Great little shop with lots of coffee and chocolate offerings. Vincent offered a warm greeting and happily made coffee recommendations based on my tastes and preferences. There were also plenty of chocolate samples to try, again accompanied by Vincent chatting through how each was made. The shop also offers chocolate making and coffee roasting courses, which I cant wait to try out! Its refreshing to find a local small business with a passionate owner who clearly loves what he does.
This place has so much potential. The coffee is great, the chocolate is delicious, but there is no atmosphere and basically no seating. Please just add some tables and chairs so I can bring my SO and enjoy your chocolate.
Been to most of the coffee shops/roasters in KC. This one is by far the best. I am very new to pour over coffee and have been going to roasters trying to learn which type of coffee I would like for at home. All other places wouldnt give me the time of day. Went in to Maps and talked to Vince for probably an hour about coffee. Found my perfect coffee. Maps is my new spot.
Always great coffee and conversation!
Nice place for a coffee...
Excellent coffee. Friendly service.
Fantastic place. Knowledgeable, friendly staff. Great coffee that is roasted in house. Great chocolate that they make themselves too, from milk to 93% cacao, and one that was coffee in white chocolate that was just heavenly.
Excellent latte and I love the Block!
Such a great place! The owner is so friendly and full of so much knowledge, and his cold brew is the absolute best. His chocolate is delicious too, with unique flavors!
Great place. Yummy coffee! I only buy coffee from here. Great to support the local economy.
Great coffee and chocolate! Also some slick custom bike frames very cool. Highly recommended.
Their pastries (cookies, etc.) come from The Pantry KC (?) on Thursdays only, so dont expect many to be left if you visit here early in the week.EDIT: I came back a week later, on a Tuesday afternoon again, and this time the owner had just stocked up on pastries. Maybe he read this review? Either way, I was pumped to see that! I got to try one of the salty-yet-sweet, crave-able deep-dish chocolate chip+chunk cookies. Very satisfying!!This place is all about the craft. Dont expect much in the way of atmosphere, places to sit, etc. but if you come for a great cup of coffee, espresso, cold brew or some unique homemade chocolate bar(s), this is one of the best places in town for it!Ordered a mocha and absolutely loved it. Rich, smooth espresso, properly pulled with no unwelcome bitterness, well-steamed milk, and some amazing chocolate flavor. The chocolates themselves are an experience. I especially enjoyed Grey Line, which seemed to have fruity citrus notes to it.Came back a week later to find that the selections of beans and chocolate had been restocked and shuffled around a bit with some new flavors on show. I tried the cold brew. That stuff has some seriously deep flavor! Multiple layers to enjoy. What another reviewer said about it being super smooth is on-point. For being coffee, its amazing how NOT bitter it is. Next time Ill have to try adding some cream. Also purchased the espresso blend of beans to use with my grinder and machine at home. Ill be serving my family for Christmas. I am eager to see how it tastes with my own drinks!
Just discovered this hidden gem a couple weeks ago and I cant get enough! A few years ago I lived in Costa Rica and had access to fresh coffee straight off the farm. Since returning to the USA in 2015 I hadnt found any coffee that remotely compares until I visited Maps Coffee. They also make an amazing almond milk cappuccino ;-)
Ever heard of a place that sells hand-made bikes, coffee, AND chocolate? Didnt think so. Leave it to Vincent, the owner, to successfully combine all three careers under one building. While I cant vouch for the bikes, I can attest to the unique, amazing artisan craft coffee made in-house (think Starbucks, but much better in quality) and their bean-to-bar chocolate, which is made daily and in various flavors such as coconut milk chai (its as decadent as it sounds) and salted bourbon pecan. I have never encountered such a local, hands-on place. Go here yesterday, and thats not a typo.
I was pleasantly surprised that pour-overs are the standard offering. The chocolate (which they make behind the counter is excellent as well. I liked the relaxed, unpretentious atmosphere, and the owner/barista was super friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely the best coffee spot I have found in Lenexa!
Vincent is truly a “Jack of all trades” and if you haven’t made a stop at his shop in Downtown Lenexa, you simply MUST! You’ll find the most welcoming environment and delicious tasting COFFEE & CHOCOLATE in the greater KC Area! We now live 15 minutes from the shop, but don’t think twice about making the drive to pick up more of his passionately, roasted coffee!
Fantastic house made chocolate and espresso 🙌🏼
A friend of mine in Olathe KS turned me onto Maps Coffee. Vincent is a really nice guy. I live in Tennessee and whenever i travel to KC, i stop in and pick up a few bags, hang out and have a cup and do some emails. Get the “Milk” roast, it’s the beat coffee I’ve ever had.
Awesome spot with great coffee and chocolate.
Great coffee. Great chocolate. I love stopping in here for pour over coffee and a bag of freshly roasted beans. In a fun location in old Lenexa. Friendly staff and owner. Cant wait for the cafe to open in the future.
Excellent coffee. Just picked up a blend from Peru and I will be coming back consistently. Well done Vincent!
Great coffee. Awesome chocolate. Excellent service. Baristas and owner happy to talk. Bike Friendly.
Expertly created and crafted.
My go to place for coffee beans now. Vincent does a great job, ask him about the roaster!
Tried the coffee at The Pantry KC and was blown away. It is so well balanced and full of flavor. Immediately went to the store and also got hooked on their chocolate too. I can wait to give this as gifts and get more people hooked.
The owner here is simply brilliant. Such a hard worker and really encourages everyone who comes in to pursue their dreams
Coffee never tasted so good or been quite so satisfying brewed at home. The Rum Soaked Pineapple chocolate was smooth and delicious. Ill be back for more!
Great coffee.
Roadt their own coffee
Best coffee Ive had in YEARS. Everyone was very nice and knowledgeable. The chocolate was also amazing. I know where Ill be buying my coffee from, from now on.
Absolutely amazing coffee and chocolate. I would highly recommend. We have friends come from Alabama and Nepal for the coffee.
Great coffee and wonderful conversation. If you are first timer like myself get after the milk blend. Also, he sells 40 oz bags of whole bean for $30. Price is right in line with companies like a starbucks ect. Do yourself a favor and make this spot a regular occurrence for your coffee runs.
Best cup of coffee! Love to bring my cup in for a pour over and some fresh roasted beans.
Randomly found this place while doing laundry and I was blown away. Great coffee, fantastic chocolate and super nice people
Vince always has recently roasted coffee, and it DOES make a difference. AND he has the best-tasting DECAF anywhere, the last bag I had was better than most other whole bean coffees.
Expert coffee roasting with a personal touch. If you have not been there drop what you’re doing immediately and go get some of these delicious beans.
We’ve never had such great customer service or coffee. We were even able to pick up a couple last minute Christmas gifts. Be on the look out for this place to do even bigger and better things.
Great almond milk latte...Vincent and his staff very helpful and friendly
I love this place. Great people. Great coffees ( I have now tried 3 types) and Great chocolate.
Fantastic coffee, homemade chocolate, and a great atmosphere with a friendly team!
Cool coffee and chocolate shop. Vincent was very helpful.
Friendly and fantastic coffee
