We have purchased multiple computers from them over the past few years, as were not inclined to build our own. Each computer was great and they are extremely easy to work with. Im having them create a new one for us right now, actually.

I first enjoyed the service of Lance Keltner when he was a college kid working at this same shop. Since then he bought the business and expanded its scope. That was about 20 years ago and he has been my go to guy ever since. I was on his UNICARE+ service since it first opened, but when I retired, in an attempt to shave my budget, I left the service. The thing is, my computer did not care that I had retired and I kept needing expert service and advice. It turned out that it was for less expensive to have the advantages of UNICARE+ than to do it piece meal. He and his team are S000000 good at what they do and they do not like defeat - persistence is in their genes.

Uni has a great friendly staff and amazing service. They always have the hardware and supplies I need and its always been a pleasant experience shopping here. By far the best local computer shop around!

I have always been pleased with their service. I have used them to fix other computer issues in the past. They are very knowledgeable and fair. Recently, I took an older computer in which would not power up. They diagnosed it quickly, but unfortunately the computer is too old to repair. I will definitely be taking the computer back there to transfer my files onto a new machine or to storage.

These guys are great! I needed to get a new gaming PC after my last one needed to be retired in 2014. I gave Adam a price-range, and he showed me the best hardware available. The custom rig has been humming along beautifully since day 1. The 3-year warranty is nice too. I brought my PC in the other day and they were able to get my too-old games playing on my brand new computer. These guys are super knowledgeable, and very courteous. They are worth every penny you spend. If they cant fix it, no one can. Your computer is a good hands with UNI!

While they didnt have the cable they were able to offer me several solutions that worked. They were able to take apart my computer and find the issue with my battery right in front of me. They were also very friendly and helpful, and gave me a much better deal than other computer repair stores. Best Buy could only even look at my computer if I sent it in to their repair store where it would take two weeks to get it back, and for a much larger price than UNI Computers was charging. I had a great experience with UNI and highly recommend!

Skip Best Buy or any other big place and go straight to Uni. They built me an amazing machine from scratch and did a great job. They even went out of their way to make sure the colors of the lights and the sticker on the power supply all matched.They were always polite and kept me in the loop throughout the process. I would highly recommend UNI Computers for any service. My laptop died suddenly and, with the start of classes at KU and my in-progress dissertation, I needed a working computer quickly. They listened to my needs and had all of my data transferred to a new laptop within four hours. They were even able to upgrade the new computer with RAM from my old laptop. So I have moderate knowledge of computers and was having an issue with connecting some fans on my case. I called up UNI to see if they could look at it with me. When I stopped in they gave me some solid information on the subject, even noticed a few things that I could adjust to have a cleaner set up. They also had great recommendations on other products I could purchase to help keep my computer cool and clean. Very legit.

Computer store, run by computer people. They sell the real stuff, are fair, honest and personable. Hands down the best experience in the area. I go there everytime I have an issue I cant fix myself. Computers can be frustrating as @#$& to fix sometimes, and I cant appreciate and thank this store enough for just being down to earth and helpful. I dont feel pressured to buy a single thing, and even if I did, I know its the real stuff. Cant recommend them enough. Just go. Not a waste of time.

I am a senior citizen with very limited tech knowledge. My IPad up and quit on me one night..brought it in to UNI in Lawrence..said help. 😃And within minutes. Our small business recently contracted with UNI Computers to replace some older computers, upgrade existing computers, and install new software for both. The consultation was easy and quick and I never felt pressured to buy more than what we needed. The quotation was extremely competitive. Installation and setup was prompt and the technician was very accommodating, to the point that we were able to keep working through most of the install. We got replies right away for any questions that did come up after the install and our new network is running great. UNIs quality of service and value are very impressive!

I have used them for the past decade to diagnose, and correct, numerous problems with technology. Their work is very good, well priced, and much quicker than that offered by a number of box store operations.In addition, I have purchased new computers from them twice. I took a laptop in today to get the desktop and opening menus cleaned up. I’m an idiot and plugged something into my motherboard that kept my computer from booting. I brought it to UNI. They took a quick look at it. Found the stupid mistake I made and quickly rectified the situation. And they were nice enough not to charge me for the help. This is the second time I’ve brought a build to UNI and both times they fixed the problem I had created for myself. I highly recommend them to anyone in Lawrence and the Lawrence area.

I bought a custom built computer from UNI because I wanted to go with a local retailer who I knew would provide good ongoing service. I havent been disappointed. Even after I moved halfway across the country, UNIs staff has provided support, quickly helping to troubleshoot an issue from afar. I highly recommend buying your next computer from them.

UNI is the first place I go whenever any of my computers needs service or repair. I like to do a lot of repairs myself to save money, and often order parts through UNI to ensure Im getting the right part for my machine. They are always extremely friendly, helpful and informative. The UNI Care+ plan is excellent, as it covers all the computers I own for basically all service, repair, and antivirus needs, and is definitely worth the money. The only time I ever had a problem was once when I brought a computer in for virus removal. The treatment they gave it did not fully remove the effects of the virus, but I brought it in the next day and they were able to figure out the problem and fix it within a day, and didnt charge me for the additional labor. Honesty and integrity are rare these days, especially in service industries, but UNI has both.

Excellent experiences at UNI. The first time was when I took my HP allinone to have the viruses cleaned out. Great job and reasonable price. The second time was when I found all my Windows programs in purple on black. They switched it back to black on white. No charge.Great people! Great service!

These guys are legit. Very knowledgeable and friendly. These gentlemen are very willing to talk to you and explain things to help you find what youre looking for. I cant exaggerate how willing to work with you these fellas are, particularly the manager.They have a water cooler in the store as well and I really like that because they want you to feel welcome even if you dont buy something.One area I would say they could improve is their inventory. I sometimes have problems with finding the items I want in their store. They will order specific items for you though, so this is only a problem if you want things that day.

Visited UNI Computers with an Apple keyboard issue recently. Even though UNI Computer mainly sells & services PCs, the friendly staff was able to help me with my predicament.Although as a Mac user, I dont have reason to often visit UNI Computers, I did take my 88 year old fathers PC to UNI a while back to be evaluated as it was running extremely slow. Within a couple of days, the tech had analyzed the problem & had his PC running like new -- and at a fair price and without trying to sell him extras that he really didnt need. I was impressed. UNI Computers is a great computer store with a great staff!

This was the fourth time that we have needed the help and support of the staff at UNI Computers. The most recent we had switched to a new hosted medical software and when their IT department downloaded the scanner software the computer locked up, after an hour of head scratching on their part they suggested we have the computer looked at, took it to UNI, they plugged it in, placed his hand on ( I did not see if looked to the heavens) it and it turned on. Everytime Ive ever dealt with these people, I end up answering my own questions. Most of their associates are novice PC enthusiasts, AT BEST. Maybe this shop is great if youre completely uninformed about computers. Just dont expect them to actually know anything outside of the basic troubleshooting. Been very disappointed both visits.

I took my computer in because a fan was failing and the UNI guys fixed it quickly, provided a few other upgrades, and stayed after hours to make sure the device drivers downloaded properly...and all for a very reasonable price! These guys are knowledgeable, kind, and great. I am pretty tech savvy and ordered a new SSD for my Mac, but my existing tool kit didnt have the right 5-star size head (6 sizes, but not a super small one). I called over to them to see if I could buy one and they just said bring your stuff over and well help you swap it out for free. I have purchased from them before and this experience just solidified me giving them my future business.

This store has saved my life again and again. We have a small business, and any computer problem is a crisis. At UNI I get instant attention and usually same-day service. Over a period of many years and many different employees, the service has always been friendly, responsive, and transparent. Dont even consider buying a computer at Office Depot, Best Buy, etc.

Recently a malware/virus rendered my computer essentially inoperable. I was facing the prospect of losing all data not externally stored (and having to get another computer). Knowing that I would have to both reinstall Windows 7 regardless, I found UNI Computers, for me a local vendor, to be the only local vendor with Windows 7 in stock. Further consultation with two friends, one a prior UNI Computers customer, prompted me to choose UNI Computers over other prospective vendors I could have taken my computer to. When I did so, I was reassured that my computer was salvageable, and that my data could be retrieved. I was also impressed with the high level of competence of the lead UNI Computer staffer I spoke with, and who performed the required service. The price was less than expected, all my data was saved, the work done on schedule, and now my computer is like new again. The level and quality of service and inside information I received exceeded that of all other vendors I have used in the past. I recommend UNI Computers to all with computer problems, to all who need computer-related advice, and to those considering getting a computer.

UNI Computers has taken care of my many questions, issues and needs for several years. They are patient and knowledgeable, and always have the right solution. I have recently purchased 2 more computers for them, since I had been running XP and with the upcoming sunsetting of that operating system, I was concerned with vulnerabilities. The staff helped me out tremendously, got all my data switched from each of the computers that I was replacing, and did it with rapidity and at a cost that was quite fair for the service provided. The impersonal big boxes dont hold a candle to these guys, big props for the local service and sales.

I didnt buy my laptop at UNI but I certainly will next time. An independent computer service shop is so important, and they do a great job. Once or twice a year an issue comes up that stumps me. Each time they have figured it out on the spot, and generally do something else too while Im there, like installing Adblock. which made me pretty happy. Friendly, no attitude...Im very impressed and happy they are here in Lawrence.

I went in today looking for a part that could only be found at a speciality computer store. Not only did they have the part, but they gave me the parts free of charge. I was in and out in a matter of minutes and my sons computer is up and running. The customer service was courteous and helpful. Safe to say, I know where Im taking my computers in the future.

Took my 2003 Dell Dimension 4600 in on Free Tuesday...would not power up. Several other people had stated it was the motherboard. Took UNI less than two minutes to determine problem, defective power supply. New power supply installed in less than 10 minutes. No labor charge. In the door and out with working unit in less time than it took we to take it to the store.Technician very pleasant and knowledgeable.Talked to three other people after my experience and they all highly recommend them as their experience just like mine; fast, friendly and high quality service.Recommend you try here first before going to other companies or individuals in the Lawrence area.

What a joke this place is. I know my way around computers but when i called and asked about their tech Tuesday special about physically cleaning the computer they said they would do that for free. Then I asked if he would also do the GPU. No. The extra cost would be $150. Why offer to clean a computer then charge me extra. With delicate cleaning like a GPU i need a professional to do it. Not an overpricing of simple services.

Well my PC laptop is at UNI having its screen fixed and should not be done for a few more days. I called today to check the status of it because I have school stuff I would like to plan ahead for, and when my laptop is fixed will determine how I prepare. My husband and I were looking for a power cord for a very old computer screen, which we found out are not even in business any longer so no cord but UNI computers gave us a screen and a cord which would work and said Happy Holidays. I run IT for a large architect firm. We needed to terminate a couple of network cables in our office, and I needed the tips. I stopped by to see if UNI carried them. Because its such a specialized item, they didnt have it on the shelf, but happened to have some. He went into the back, and then just gave me two of them (free of charge). Very good experience.

My laptop was pretty non-functional when I brought it in, and UNI Computers replaced my hard drive (with a free upgrade to one with more storage). Unfortunately, this didnt solve the Internet issues I was having, so I brought it back in and they gave me a USB adapter that completely solved the problem, and they gave it to me for free. I would recommend this place - very helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly staff!

Our electricity went out this AM and fried the power supply in our main computer. Called UNI and took tower in and they fixed it the same hour. Highly recommend using UNI for all your computer needs.

My Worst Buy PC failed catastrophically, and I was actually considering going back there for another of their planned-obsolescence models when a friend mentioned UNI.Chad at UNI built a PC that meets my needs for less than I thought possible. In addition to workaday uses like email, internet, word processing, etc, I like PC games, and the PC Chad built for me is the best one I have ever owned, allowing me to look forward to the upcoming release of a game like Fallout 4.My old data (pics, docs, etc) were also salvaged, so the transition was smooth. The worst thing I can say is that it took a little longer than I originally expected (I want it NOW!), but in hindsight it was a quite reasonable stretch of time. I am very happy with my UNI experience, and I look forward to working with Chad in the future.

Outstanding. I bought my first desktop in 1984. Today, I own seven computers (not the original 1984 Apple IIe, though). In all the intervening years, I have never experienced better computer service than from UNI. Adam and Bill continually go above and beyond what I expect. I am always comfortable talking with Meghan (sp?) and Chad either on the phone or in the store. You cant go wrong with UNI. Two thumbs up!

There is no doubt UNI is the best place in Lawrence for computer service and guidance. Of note is their engaging staff who always have time for kids. They explain and demonstrate the computer from hard drive to memory and processors and heat sinks in such a way all can have some understanding of these magic boxes. As a pilot and flight instructor, I rely on my electronic flight bag for navigation, weather forecast a and winds along with electronic filing of FAA flight plans. I have had two computer repairs completed by UNI and both times the problems were resolved swiftly and completely. One of them was on a slightly aged laptop and they were able to find fairly rare replacement parts. I would recommend UNI for computer repairs, fast and friendly service.

Place was clean and well organized. Had newer computer components and I was a little disappointed as I was looking for older parts. Price wise they was a bit steep as I can get the same stuff off the internet for much cheaper.

I was looking all over town to find some air duster for my pc and the only place I found that had it was these guys. Ive been in there a few times and they seem to have just about anything you need. Cable adapters, air duster, custom built PCs.... Theyve always been friendly, would reccomend their shop.

Came in to buy a new heat sink for my old computer as the bracket pins broke when I was cleaning it. Didnt want anything super fancy and I thought I was going to have buy an expensive after market part. Mein was super helpful and gave me a range of choices from the expensive after market parts I was expecting all the way to a used copy of my current heat sink for super cheap. This is the first and only place I go when I need anything computer related.

Our relatively new All-In-One computer began to act up after we up-graded it to Windows 10 approx. 6 weeks ago. We took it to UNI Computer this week for a diagnostic review since it continued to get worse each day. Bill and Amin were so professional and great to work with, as they explained everything in detail and presented us with the various options to consider. We ended up purchasing a new computer, due to time constraints on our part in getting the other one repaired at this time. They graciously downloaded everything onto the new computer for us and wouldnt take any $$ for doing it. We were back in business the next day! We highly recommend the folks and service at UNI Computer.

Ive been to this store before and had good experiences. They have most computer parts that bigger stores in town wont and the cables needed for most tasks. I went into UNI computers today for a single SATA cable and the man behind the counter, Amir, was incredibly helpful and kind. He gave me the same cable that they had sitting in the back on the house and I know Ill be going back there next time for whatever I may need for my computer.

I needed a internal speaker for my PC and he said I have to buy something if I want one. Rude. I even had one guy shock my video card on purpose. I saw him stick his thumb on the edge of my card on purpose and it killed the card. I told him I saw that and he denied it. I forgave him for that. It also cost me 149 bucks to remove a motherboard to get the thermal plate off my motherboard to reach and replace the battery. I realized it was easier to do that myself via YouTube I saw after I paid to get it swamped and I felt like an idiot. This is a good shop if you wanna build but they charge too high. I saw a Samsung 860 Evo 500gb and it was for 278 bucks. I got mine online for 99 bucks close to around 78.98 bucks and it was a better deal from Newegg. I did sorta use best buy to price match but I do not recommend going to best buy. Micro center isnt bad but better honesty. Make sure you check the receipt if it says IPSG then its refurbished. Micro center does NOT rip people off. They are way better.
