A very cool place! This coffee/tattoo shop and bakery was recommended by a friend and described as “good vibes”. Needless to say I was not disappointed. Although limited on indoor space there is a small section outdoors. The menu and layout inside was all over the place but not in a bad way, the best way to describe it is well “Good Vibes” or Familiar. Food was excellent, coffee was amazing, and the singular staff I had that day was beyond friendly.Parking for me was a bit hectic but could of been easily avoided if I had brought $1.50 (2hrs) in quarters for the pubic garage a block away.

I got a centipede done by Ty (@tylandia.art) and I love it! She was a pleasure to work with and does great work. Everyone here is super nice and the Cafe is bomb too!

This is such a chill spot!! Love the setting, the staff is so cool and helpful with menu suggestions, you have the options of sitting inside or outside. Its nice, I like it. It gives off this vibe, it is hard to say, but you CANT get your order to go - at least for me. The setting to sit and enjoy your beverage and or food order is just too tempting. Check it out!

I really enjoyed my time at the collective. Theres a very hospitable environment in the studio with a makeshift cafe in the front of the house. Trevor is a very personable artist and takes his time with precision, and commitment . I will definitely be coming back to Kailua for more art in the future .

The location has the amazing perk of having amazing coffee and sweets but the tattoo shop itself is clean and their staff is so sweet and professional. Definitely swing by!

Visited in late July 2019. Booked time with 2 artists for a family tattoo day to memorialize our trip to Oahu. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. Joshua inked an amazing honu- exactly how my brother envisioned. Lisa stepped in for a last minute touch-up on my nephews chest piece and guest artist Flor from Argentina finished up the session with a beautiful fine line mermaid for me, butterfly for my daughter and red hibiscus for my nephew. The best by far tattoo I’ve gotten. Josh works great with dark skin. He knew how to to make the shading look visible. The best customer service I’ve had in a while, and an extremely clean shop. Even though I was in a rush he was accommodating and worked really well with my schedule. If I had the time I’d get all my tattoos done there.

My sister visited from the mainland and we got matching palm trees on our inner arm. After checking out a few other shops in the area, we went to The Collective late one evening and Josh helped us out. He was incredibly professional, fun, and never added any pressure. After seeing the shop (clean, thoughtfully decorated, welcoming) and talking to Josh, we scheduled an appointment for a few days later. The experience was top notch. Price was outstanding for the incredible work. We both left with great tattoos and wanting to just hang out in the shop all day listening to good music and eating good food. Can’t wait to go back and have Josh finish up a sleeve for me!

Popped into the Collective earlier today with my girlfriend and her family while were here on vacation and I must say, WHAT AN ATMOSPHERE!!! It was really cool to see everyone at work tattooing and microblading. Coffee was great and the staff was super friendly! Definitely see a round 2 in the future!

The food and coffee is excellent! They have cold brew, fresh baked desserts and lots of gluten free options. My favorite is the loaded avocado toast and gluten free toffee coffee cake. They also carry many vegan options.

Josh is an amazing artist and was super cool! My mom was visiting me and we got tattoos together. The tattoo is super detailed and well done, couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I will definitely be going back to get more tattoos from him.

I researched tattoo spots on Oahu for awhile and I came across The Collective, finally! My tattoo was small and it turned out perfect. I was serenaded to some sweet 90’s Alternative by Josh as he did my tattoo. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience! Highly suggest everyone to check them out.

My wife got two tattoos done on the same day with Lisa. The studio was super clean and very hygienic. She was able to incorporate themes from different tattoos that my wife liked into two cohesive designs that were completely unique but still had all the qualities she was looking for. I love the ambiance of this place! While theyre drawing up your tattoo and getting everything ready, you can wait in the cafe (which has a really chill, edgy vibe). I went in for a consultation yesterday, but since the tattoos I wanted were small (about 1 inch and 2 inches), they were able to go ahead and do them so that I didnt have to make another appointment.I hesitate to say that the tattoo artist did mine quickly, because that sounds rushed... which it definitely wasnt. But she did exactly what I wanted and it didnt take very long at all. The place was really clean and they had old school hip hop playing, which just added to the awesomeness.These werent my first tattoos, but Ive never felt like oooh, I cant wait to get more!... until now. Ive spent the morning trying to figure out what Im going to get next! And this will definitely be where I go!!

If your looking for a unique place to eat in Kailua this is it. Hard to describe the vibes in here but definitely cool and unique. The food is good as well. They have nights where they have live music and other events.

Just got my ink done from Alex. What an AMAZING person he is. He is an honest and very accommodating when it comes to getting tattooed. He is very patient and super out going. He’s always making sure that your comfortable and the whole entire shop is IMMACULATE 🤙🏽‼️ Also the cafe is really nice. Super good coffee and nice sandwiches as well as yogurt parfaits and other cool pastries. This is a family owned business, and today they made me feel like OHANA. I normally don’t post reviews online, but I felt it necessary in this case. The Collective is a really refreshing take on a tattoo shop. Great coffee, great people, and they’ve done well with their shows in the evenings (comedy/cabernet ). Above all, Lisa and Alex are incredible artists. Take a look at some of that work online. The detail oriented approach is uncanny. Traditional work and Polynesian styles are exceptional as well. I’ll be going back for some more work for sure.

I’ve been getting tattooed by Lisa for about 13 years. She’s done four pieces for me, one re-line on an old old tattoo and one re-work/cover (posted). She’s absolutely amazing. She is easy to work with and always knows exactly what I’m describing when I tell her what my idea is - and then she just blows that idea up into a unique work of art more perfect than I could have ever thought up on my own. She is incredibly skilled in many different tattoo styles and mixes up the most amazing colors! In addition to being an insanely talented tattoo artist, she just has the most mellow, easy going vibe. Getting tattooed by Lisa feels like hanging with a friend - none of that intense-machismo-angry-hardcore energy that so many shops have. I can’t recommend Lisa enough - she’s the best!!

RJ tattooed a skeleton on my leg yesterday and it is more than amazing. His patience was super appreciated as we spent a long time reworking the drawing until it was perfect. He is very excited about his work and this attitude was infectious, I am working with him to create some more pieces. Lisa worked on a wrist cover up for me. I had a very dark peony that I was not happy with from another artist. Initially I had a consult where the artist said we could throw a whole bunch of color and make the flower more realistic ... so I thought...well lesson learned with the first one ..is to really get something meaningful and something you want that is thought out thoroughly. So I opted to just get laser treatment to remove it or even lighten it to get more options w a cover up. After hearing my stories, Lisa was very open minded and listened to what my concerns were. She knew I wanted it very soft and feminine. I know now that what is in my mind may not be what is translated in her mind... I put trust in her and she in turn took her time and made sure color choices worked with the existing space and ink from the remnants of the old tattoo and an existing smaller tattoo and incorporated them together so that the tattoo was more cohesive and flowed better. I loved that she took the time for me to look at it before proceeding to the next part and we talked about it beforehand and she made me feel comfortable and that my opinion mattered. In the end with the pain from laser removal and Lisa’s talent and expertise I can now look at my wrist with admiration and pride with my husband and daughters birth flower reminding me how life is fragile but also can be beautiful if we remember to stop and live in the moment. Thank you for that Lisa! 💞💞💞
