Rented the Hawk for 5 nights, this rig was awesome. I am traditionally a tent camper so this setup was new to me (wife wasnt going to tent camp for this long). Drew did a great run through of the setup. We took this thing all over the Tetons and yellowstone camping in national forests surrounding the parks. These guys have thought of everything you would need. Thanks for being an awesome part of our honeymoon. Highly recommend!!
Ended up renting Bear Spray and a 20 degree sleeping bag from Teton Backcountry Rentals... both for a week. It was a simple, easy process. Prices were reasonable in my mind, and the staff were very friendly each time we were in the store. Thanks for making our backpacking trip a success!
Great experience renting bear spray at the airport, which enabled us to hit the trails 20 minutes after we landed in JH, and nice to rent it for cheaper than buying since we flew in. Easy return drop box, too. We also rented hiking poles. The staff was unbelievably gracious and generous with their time when we were running late to pick them up, and provided an alternate solution to drop them off when our hike took longer than expected. Appreciate Patrick and this entire team. Great prices; quality gear. Will definitely return here for other needs next time I am out here!
Super friendly and personable staff. We placed our order ahead of time for bear spray and a cooler. This pick up and drop off process was so easy. They even offer after hours drop off specifically for bear spray. There was a small hiccup in my return where the store could not locate my bear spray after I had returned it. I commend them for reaching out to me first so we could resolve it. We’ll definitely use Teton Backcountry again and hope they can expand their business to include even more rental items!
Friendly staff; quick and easy bear spray rentals - cheaper than buying for a weekend trip and eco-friendly. After hours return box is a nice bonus.
Warning to backpackers: The sleeping bags here are heavily perfumed.Anyone whos spent time in bear country knows how important it is to keep your smellables in your bear canister, outside of your tent, so you can imagine how scary it is to get to camp at the end of a day and pull out a bag that fills your tent with perfume smell.I flagged this issue for the staff in the store but I wasnt talking to an owner or manager so Im not sure whether any action will be taken. I hate to be leaving a bad review, because the bag I rented was otherwise fine and the people at the shop seemed friendly -- Im sure its a great place to rent most things -- but in my eyes this is a serious hazard.
Easy and convenient. Made my bear spray reservation online and picked up/dropped off at the airport. I would highly recommend them and would use their business again.
Update - Post-Travel Review:Wow! Just wow! This was not only the reaction that we had to all of the sights in the national parks, but also to the quality of service and equipment that we received from Teton Backcountry Rentals! From the reservation process (see my Pre-Travel review below), to the pick-up/orientation process for the Hawk on the 2021 Chevy Silverado, throughout the duration of our 7-day trip, and down to the very last minute before we had to leave to catch our flight, these folks served us so well! I won’t add anything about the reservation process because that is outlined below, but as for pick-up and orientation, it was very quick, easy, and thorough! They made sure that we were comfortable with all of the features of the camper, and gave us a full walkthrough of all of its features (of which there are a lot!). They also made sure we knew the ins and outs of the truck itself. It was obvious during the walkthrough that they had thought of just about everything, and it proved to be true. We camped at 3 different sites in the two parks for a total of 7 nights, and we had nearly everything we could have asked for! Popping up and taking down the top was very simple. The bed and bedding was so comfortable and warm after long days of driving and hiking, even on the chilliest of nights! We were spoiled as well with the heater, but hey we were there during the first snow of the season, so can you blame us! Cooking and cleaning were a breeze with the cooktop and sink, and the fridge gave us plenty of options for food! The truck itself performed wonderfully, and was so comfortable to drive it was like driving a leather recliner around! Everywhere we went in the parks, we had people commenting on how awesome our setup was, and every time we recommended Teton Backcountry Rentals to them! Our favorite part of having this camper was not having to go back to a campsite or pack lunches/dinners when you would go out for the day. This camper made it super simple to stop and lounge wherever we were. When our time with the camper was up, though we didn’t want to leave, the drop off process couldn’t have been easier, and the lovely folks at Teton Backcountry Rental even let us leave our bags in their shop while we went out to hangout in Jackson Hole before our flight. Even when we came back on our way to airport, they double checked with us to make sure we had a ride to the airport! Also important, the security deposit was returned promptly!A couple of suggestions:- the grey water hose wouldn’t unravel making the disposal of grey water a little less enjoyable (not that disposing of dirty dish water is meant to be enjoyable lol), so maybe a nicer piece of hose.- we had a small piece of a dish sponge and a dish towel to wash and dry dishes, but a dish brush and an extra dish towel would have been nice as well.Pre-Travel Review:I haven’t actually been to Wyoming yet, but in our planning process, the first Camper that we rented fell through because of a mistake with another booking website leaving us without a place to stay and seemingly without any sympathy or compensation (other than a refund) from that website or owner. I called up Teton Backcountry Rentals, and Manager Melissa was super helpful and committed to making sure our needs were met and worked out a schedule to lock us in with a great camper for the duration of our trip. The prices are reasonable (we actually ended up saving quite a bit compared to our first attempted rental of a camper van through RVShare), the location is great right by the airport, and the campers look awesome! We are super excited about the trip, and expect to be posting again about the amazing experience actually staying in their lovely camper!
Excellent gear and crew here! Cole and Patrick were extremely helpful over the phone determining which skis I needed. When I arrived the skis were already adjusted and ready to go! I really appreciated that they checked the avalanche beacons for battery, and tested the ski binding fitment in front of me ensuring that I wouldnt have to abort mission at the trailhead. Ill definitely be renting here again on my next trip to Jackson.
Teton Backcountry Rentals was very helpful. Equipment was in great condition and Kortney was very kind and patient helping us!
Renting gear from here was seamless! I did it all online and when I picked up my gear, one of the lovely employees told me they bundled up my order to save me some $$ - yay! Gear was in great condition. Prices were great. Will definitely rent from here again when I return.
Friendly staff answered my questions about the area/camping that were unrelated to my bear can rental and didn’t act at all put out. Got ahold of them easily via phone and last minute for my rental. Wanted to say that first because I appreciated it. Anyway I rented a bear can for 2 full days. Price was $10. Can was in working condition. They accommodated my after hours pick up and drop off request. They are social distancing and wearing masks. Thanks
All of the latest and greatest in ski and splitboard touring rentals at a very fair price. Cannot recommend these guys enough.
Such an easy process for rentals and incredible staff! In and out within minutes. Would highly recommend going here for your rental needs!
These guys are amazing and have literally thought of everything you could possibly need when renting a camper! We rented the 2012 tundra with the roof nest and it was such an amazing experience! Drew is the one who took care of us and he did such an amazing job! This company has excellent customer service and amazing products to offer!
We rented a can of bear spray at their airport location $28 for 5+ days. Asked the employee multiple times what happens if we needed to use it, etc. To which she laughed at us saying “it’s very rare you’ll use it, you probably won’t see a bear etc.” Well, I needed to use a little bit to spray a bear that quickly came at us within 5 feet. To my surprise after returning the RENTED can that I paid for already, they charged me another $25 to fill the can because I used it! I’ve never heard of being charged ADDITIONAL because you used something that you already paid to rent! Employees should explain how this works and be upfront, not hide things in fine print, especially while you’re rushing at the airport.UPDATE: Issue rectified. Thank you.
Easy rental. Called for what I could not find and they added. Had ready on time and exactly as represented. Honest and responsive. Will use again.
I have rented multiple things from this shop. Split board with the full package. Poles. And just went on a pack rafting trip with rafts from TBR. The gear is always well taken care of. I am never worried about the quality of gear that they rent out. The staff is always knowledgeable. Make sure you ask Pow Collins questions about your trip.
We rented bear spray only for our 4 day hike. We were instructed to return the bottle in the drop box out front of the store. When we arrived to do so I was yelled at by the man inside to “not drop it in the drop box”! I then just tried to set the bear spray on the counter /table and he yelled at me again loudly in front of several customers to “not put it there either”. I have no clue what the issue was that day but their staff member was in a mood and was incredibly disrespectful and inappropriate. Additionally, they charged us an extra day after we returned the spray. Their prices are very high and the extra charges were unforeseen. It was a bummer end to the trip.
Great place to rent bear spray. The associate who helped us was great, she gave us several tips and tricks for navigating the Tetons. Appreciated the extra help.
Absolutely amazing place! Unfortunately, our summit climb did not go as planned, and while all in our party were okay, we lost an ice axe on the mountain and were unable to return our gear until a day later after we had planned. They were so understanding, and kind. Plus their prices are great and the gear is in great shape!
A first time experience, they had everything I needed, and offered really friendly how to use service. And Drew kindly didnt charge me for forgetting the bag to the chair.
Perfect spot to grab some equipment on your way into nature. Better availability, great pricing, and friendly staff.
Nice lower cost alternative to rent bear spray instead of buying it. The wait was a bit long as they are slow to check you out.
They made it super easy to reserve, pickup and drop off bear spray for a great price
The staff is super friendly and helpful and the rental fees are affordable.
We just returned from a 3 day backpack trip in the Grand Tetons. I knew we would have to rent some equipment so I researched companies before I left on vacation. When I got to Jackson, I went into Teton Mountaineering, and they werent very confident that they could rent to us. I saw a flyer for Teton Backcountry rentals and was impressed that they would deliver. I emailed Patrick 2 days before our trip and he was immediately responsive and helpful. He even delivered our equipment a day ahead of time with no extra charge. At the last minute we discovered we needed another sleeping bag and he made it a priority to meet us at our convenience to deliver it. The equipment we rented was outstanding - the highest quality. At the end of our trip, Patrick met us again at our convenience so we could return everything. Later that night we discovered my daughter left her phone in her rented backpack and Patrick immediately mailed it back to our home in California. You cant ask for better service, better quality, or a better guy handling your needs. Kudos for making our first backpacking trip with our teenage daughters a huge success! Thanks Teton Backcountry. Everyone should use your services!!!
Finally visited the shop in person and loved it! Pat runs a tight ship, and the other employees seem very knowledgeable and helpful for customers who come in with questions. They give a thorough bear spray demonstration! Also, they are very diligent with cleaning the gear. Everything is inspected and cleaned upon return, so only super clean and quality equipment leaves the store with customers.Disclaimer: I do website work for TBR, but this review is my honest opinion.
Quick, easy, and convenient bear spray rental! Sure beats buying a bottle for 50 dollars and throwing it away!
They made it easy and convenient to pick up Bear Spray and a Cooler.
Thanks Jacques! You totally saved our day when I forgot my transceiver at home. Really appreciate your immediate response.Great prices, great gear, great people! Whats not to love?
I had two friends come into town to ski, and they dont own avalanche safety gear. We rented from TBR and it was a great experience. Super easy to get and return the gear, it worked, and we had a blast. Will use these guys again in future for sure.
Great service. Very helpful - was not a problem to reschedule delivery when I had to change times and dates due to car issues.Friendly team
We could not have had a better experience with TBR!!! They delivered our tent, stove, table, and chairs directly to our car rental location. They were on time, and the equipment was in stellar condition. What a wonderful service they provide!!! I look forward to dealing with this company again when I return to the Jackson Hole area.Donna OBrien
TBR is the place to go if you ever need to rent gear for the mountains. I have rented avalanche gear (beacon, probe, and shovel) as well as an ice axe an crampons a few times from them and it has always been a quick easy process. Thanks Patrick and Jacques for helping me get the gear I need or friends need to complete some fun objectives in the Tetons.
A couple of buddies and I made hasty plans for a trip to Yellowstone. We did not want to scramble to get gear and worry about getting it to Jackson. TBR made it easy. We ordered everything online, and Jake had everything organized for us before we arrived. 10 minutes in and out - we packed the vehicle (this place is great for car campers like us), and were on our way.It was the trip of a lifetime, and Teton Backcountry Rentals helped make it happen.
Great, very knowledgeable staff and the equipment we got from them was exactly what we were looking for! Made camping in the Tetons very enjoyable.
Highly recommend!Patrick and Jacques were both extremely responsive and great guys. Got my gear and returned it with no sweat at all.Especially recommend for stoves (which are tricky to fly with) and bear spray (which you probably dont have unless you live in grizzly country :)
Was on my way to the Wind River range for a 5 day backpacking trip and realized I didnt have trekking poles. Jacques and Patrick were very accommodating and were able to meet me on the fly. The trekking poles were great over the course of our 40 mile hike!
I recently rented snowshoes from TBR and it was a great experience. The fact that they deliver your gear is so convenient too! With airline baggage fees being through the roof, Teton Backcountry Rentals is the way to go if you plan on enjoying the many offerings that Jackson has to offer. Jacques was particularly friendly.
Had a great experience with TBR last week! I was at a local restaurant and ordered a cheeseburger and an ice axe at about the same time. Jacques showed up with the equipment before the server showed up with my lunch! Great new business, and fantastic service. Thanks guys!
We rented a camping stove and cooler from Teton Backcountry Rentals. Delivery service was great, equipment was excellent. Would definitely recommend this service, super convenient!
Patrick and Jacques are the best. Great gear, very responsive, and super friendly. These guys are sure to get you all geared up for an excellent backcountry adventure. Rock on Dudes!
Ive rented snowshoes, crampons, and an ice axe from Teton Backcountry Rentals with no complaints. The gear was high quality and in good condition, not to mention the great customer service. Ill definitely be renting from TBR on again on my next visit.
Great idea! Most of us dont have all the equipment to play in the Tetons, and buying stuff for a few days is a waste of money, so Teton Backcountry Rentals hooked up my party with equipment at a fraction of the cost of buying. The equipment was in excellent condition, and Pat and Jacques sp? were very helpful.
Best place to rent bear spray in jackson! Friendly and very competent staff, good prices. If you dont need bearspray aside from one trip this is the way to go!
First of all thank you Teton Backcountry Rentals! Jacques and Pat, you were so helpful and quick to respond to my need of an ice axe. I had known about TBR for a bit now but assumed since I had most of my own gear that I would not need to rent. However, I dont have everything. It was so nice and convenient to be able rent an ice axe instead of purchasing one for the rare times I will use one. It was a high quality, very light weight axe for my backpacking trip. Jacques was so accommodating with my time crunch. It was seamless getting and returning the axe. I will definitely be renting from TBR again. Especially having friends/family come into town who potentially cant travel with all their gear. Now I know who to send people to! ;) Thanks for being there and thanks for making it easy!
I arrived in Jackson Hole and needed a beacon, shovel, probe, and climbing poles. Jacques was able to get me the equipment fast so I didnt have to wait to get to the backcountry. Great company and great service, next time I am in town I will definitely be calling Teton Backcountry Rentals.
Quick and reasonably priced rental of snowshoes, poles and gators while visiting from out of state. Shared local knowledge of where to go.
These guys were fantastic. They were so patient with my emails back and forth and they were very accomodating. I even left something in our backpack and they drove back again to return in. Now thats service! Delivery plus!!
Go to KMART and Albertson and other stores, you can find better price.I recommend to rent bear spray here. The rental price is better than buying one, and you probably cant bring it back home or throw it away, so rental is a good choice.Propane: $3.98 at AlbertsonCamping Chair: $9.99 at Kmart. Its brand new by the way.Coleman Ice box: $14.99 at Kmart. Its brand new by the way.You got much higher price for weekly rental, and the item condition was reluctantly usable.I had a reservation, arrived on time, but the clerk ignored me and chatting with a couple for evening activity.Overall, the business is okay. However, you can definitely find better deals at stores in Jackson Hole.
I rented trekking poles from Teton Backcountry Rentals for a recent trip to the Wind River Range and they were accommodating and very timely! I look forward to renting with you again for next years trip! Thanks TBR!
Professional, friendly, came to my house outside of town at night. Showed me how to use the gear, explained the terrain, and was able to bill my card on the spot. Very convenient and because of this company I was able to live the dream of riding Jackson Hole backcountry! Thanks Jacques!
We just got back from camping in Yellowstone, and had a great experience with TBR for renting out tent. The tent was in great condition. Jacques met us at an easy location to give it to us, and was even a bit early. The whole experience was very pleasant and TBR was wonderful to work with. I highly recommend them for your next camping equipment rental needs.
Everything was great! Easy to rent, easy pick up and drop off, and all the equipment was nice, clean and new!
I recently used TBR for a last minute rental for a climb in the Tetons. I called them less than 24 hours before my trip was going to leave and they were able to accommodate a rental for me and a friend. Their customer service is prompt and they will go above and beyond for any of your camping/climbing rental needs. I will definitely be using them again in the future!
Great service. Willing to drop off wherever. Friendly folk
I rented camping equipment with them for 6 nights and was highly satisfied, the equipment was as good as new and of high quality. higly recommended!
Thank you Teton Backcountry Rentals for making trips happen. When my friends and I wanted to climb the Middle Teton, we were disappointed in learning that we needed gear that we did not own. Luckily, TBR was not only able to supply us with the ice axes and helmets, but with fast delivery and wonderful costumer service. Without TBR, our trip wouldnt have happened-- Thanks again!
They are amazing, so personal and they get everything done sooo quickly!! Amazing group with the best top quality rental gear available!!
Thanks Jacques. Great service. We rented beacons for a couple of backcountry days in Tetons pass. They deliver at your hotel!
Brilliant business model! Met us outside the visitors center 20 minutes after I called. I rented a scat belt and bear spray. Patrick (?) showed me how to use it and gave us helpful advice for the trail we planned to take. We left the gear with the front desk at our hotel and texted TBR to pick it up. Super easy. A great service for people who only find themselves in grizzly country a few times a year! Thank you!
Awesome service. Rented a mummy bag from them and chatted up the guys working there on suggestions for good hikes in GTNP.
I needed a PLB for a backcountry trip and Teton Backcountry Rentals were the only ones around who could help out with little notice. Patrick was very quick to respond to my numerous emails and hand delivered the gear quickly and on time to the condo I was staying at in town. He was friendly, courteous, professional and had helpful local knowledge. I wouldnt hesitate to contact them on my next trip..This type of company is invaluable in a place like Jackson where so many people are from out of town and need rental gear/supplies for a trip. Thanks again TBR.
Teton Backcountry Rentals is AWESOME! I highly recommend this company - both their customer service and the goods they provide are stellar. My husband and I were visiting from out-of-state and we forgot a few items. So, we called TBR, and within 15 minutes, someone from the business met us at a convenient location with the gear. The gear was of high quality and in perfect condition. THANK YOU TETON BACKCOUNTRY RENTALS!!!!
TBR provided excellent gear that made me feel safe during my first trip out of bounds in Jackson.
I recently rented a tent, cooler and trekking poles from TBR. The tent was easy to set up and perfect for the conditions out in Jackson. It was easy to get in touch with and Patrick and Jacques. While coordinating with TBR, they were flexible and were able to answer all of my questions both gear related and about the area in general.I highly recommend TBR to anyone visiting the Jackson area in need of quality gear and superior service.
TBR was efficient, friendly, professional and convenient. If im ever in the area again and in need of gear, I will not hesitate to call them. I would recommend their service to anyone. Thanks TBR, you guys are great!
Needed to get some avalanche gear to do a tour with a friend that lives in Jackson Hole. The gear was in excellent shape, most were brand new.**It is important to understand that TBR will not provide avalanche education, you must have this knowledge before you go into the backcountry.**They provide a great service for when you need gear due to travel. Pat dropped off the equipment the night before, gave a quick run through, than came by later the next day to pick everything up. Very quick and super friendly. I will recommend for any traveling backcountry skiers/boarders.
We rented bear spray. They have tons of other stuff available for rental too!
I was looking for gear rentals online for a while and this company quickly got my attention. We rented bear sprays and a stove from them, both good quality and easy to use.The TBR guys are considerate, flexible, and friendly. We had to drive quite a long time to get the gear (we entered from west YSNP), therefore we cant tell the exact arriving time. But they are both very patient, we could call them 15 min before we arrive and they would be there. As a beginner camper I was not sure what equipment I need, so they gave me a choice to cancel an unwanted item one day before the trip, which was great. It is both economical an environmental to rent, you get top quality gear with 1/4 of the price of buying and dont have to throw them away before boarding the plane.
If I could rate it any higher I would! My sister and I had never done any backcountry adventuring and after 3 years of avid day hiking we decided to give it a try. As locals we knew that Skinny Skis and Teton Mountaineering rented gear, but after talking to them we found that we couldnt get everything we needed from one place and there was no guarantee it would be available. I saw TBR s truck one day and decided to make a call. Patrick was super helpful and I found that they had everything I needed, I could make reservations in advance, plus they bring it right to your door!!!!!I just finished the Teton Crest Trail with friends (from experience, doing the whole 40 miles in 3 days is hard! Take at least 4 days!) and all the gear we used was amazing! We got rained on and dealt with canyon winds at night but we stayed dry and slept comfortably in the 3 person tent we rented. The womens backpacks were amazingly light, very comfortable and they are water resistant. One of the team members got injured and so we were late getting off the trail and with returning the gear, but Patrick was super and let us return the gear the next morning, meeting me at a location and time that was good for me. I cannot recommend them any higher, and will only rent from them. Thank you TBR for making our first backcountry experience a memorable one!
I rented a tracker 2 beacon from TBR on March 13th. i called at 5pm on march 12th and they showed up to our door in less than an hour. the beacon had full battery and they gave us a quick run thru of the features... all for less than $20. then on the evening of the 13th all we had to do was text them and they showed up promptly to retrieve it. this is a great service that i will 100% use again and would recommend to anyone. we had a great day in Teton national park using TBR.
Stopped by to get bear spray here. Helpful staff :)
THE BEST OF THE BEST!
Very helpful very professional
Great service and friendly guys
Very excellent.
