My Father passed away in December of 2019. Our Family had to arrange the sale of 2 of his classic vehicles (1963 Chevy Impala and a 1957 Chevy Bel Air).An individual by the name of GARY MATESIC was retained by my Brother to arrange the sale of both vehicles. Gary tried to persuade my Brother that the Bel Air had an offer from one of his friends in Austin for $42k and how we should jump on this offer asap, as this was the best deal we were going to get.Needless to say, I told my Brother to reject the offer, but wanted to get a second opinion, and thats how I stumbled across CJ. His estimate was right on the money and the Bel Air sold for nearly $90k. Essentially, CJ made my family $50k by giving a detailed once over and relaying his knowledge to my Brother (who was the POA for the estate).I have my own Hot Rod and will be taking it to CJ whenever services are needed, big or small. If you ever find yourself having dealings with Gary Matesic, especially selling something of yours, keep a serious eye on him and any proposals he may offer up. He claims to have over 40 years appraising and selling vehicles. Clearly he was way off on his estimate or was working an angle for himself.......either way, unacceptable.

I brought in my 1956 Chevy 210 for some maintenance work and for installation of an ac and a stereo system in my baby. These guys are funny, fun guys who really know what theyre doing. They worked to get me good deals and kept me up to date without me asking when part deliveries were delayed due to covid. My car is running so much better and the ac looks so nice and doesnt mess up the interior aesthetic and works so well! Im so happy to be able to drive my car again. This was worth the wait and they really did go above and beyond for me. I highly recommend their services-you wont be disappointed!

I could not have asked for better help and service. I drive a 76 F-250 and finding a shop that employs people that are okay with not having to have a vehicles manual or a diagnostics port are becoming harder and harder to come by. They worked on my steering and a few other parts. I mention the steering specifically because it was a very tricky situation. My truck has previously had its column replaced and a power steering conversion done. Without knowing where all the existing parts came from, they were able to fix it properly and make it stronger than stock. These guys know what they are doing and they are honest in letting you know we fixed what you asked for but you might want to look into this. A lot of people might take that as an up-sale but not here. They seem to mostly deal with vehicles that are 30,40,50+ years old and just want our classics to be as safe and reliable as possible. They are nice guys, easy to talk to and the best thing I have found, they dont talk to you like you are an idiot. They seem to get that someone who takes the chance on driving a truck as old as mine probably has at least a basic understanding of vehicle mechanics. BUT, if you feel the need to ask what something is or how something works, they will clearly explain what your asking without talking down to you. My truck still has a lot of work to be done and I will defiantly be taking it back to them for things outside my know-how. From the owner down to the green horns, all the people there are great guys.

The talk was professional and straight to the point, but the service for my 1968 Mustang project was nothing short of a joke. I do almost all my own automotive servicing except for fabrication and some wiring because most custom shops nowadays are scams but I decided to gamble on CnC and lost. I employed them to wire a gen-4 Ford alternator to be able to kick on and off as needed and to fabricate a shift linkage between my shifter and late model AOD. The first man I talked to was very knowledgeable and led me to trust that business and even told me theyd be able to store it indoors because my vehicle was without a hood but they never stored it inside except for possibly the work they did sadly. But during my initial half-up-front-payment he told me that he has had to chase off people from their customers cars before. But it gets worse. After 3 days they called and told me she was ready and when I went to pick her up she was outside and I figured at that moment they may have just put her outside not long ago for easier access to for me to tow it, no big deal, but they managed to misplace my keys. And where were they? Inside my car, on the seat, outside, with the doors open-- where his employees left it. When I asked he could not tell me whether it has been left like that every night but me being aggravated at this already after being told she would be kept inside made me just want to leave. He takes me inside to pay whatever was left I may have possibly owed. My initial payment was $400, already seeming pricey when he estimated a final bill of about $450 the day before, but shockingly I arrive inside to figure out I owe a grand total (initial payment included) of $751.19! Even more aggravated at the crappy estimate I received for the 2 things I wanted, I get in my car to have it towed back to my home (engine not yet complete at that point). But one problem.... It wasnt even done! He has not checked his employees work and somehow they forgot to crimp a connector from my alternator to my starter solenoid so I had to sit in the car while he hastily crimps one on for me. So finally I am towed home while hearing an odd grinding sound (thinking it may have been my brake pads) and upon inspecting the work with a jack I notice my speedometer gear is completely eaten up from the ride home because after their shift linkage work they did not at least zip tie it against the frame like I had it prior. And upon further inspection I found out I payed $450 of that $751.19 bill for a 1.5ft steel tube smashed at both ends with a hammer, drilled through, and bent for a shift linkage - with $50 of that charged as a part cost are you kidding me? I understand the labor was $100 an hour and $110 fabrication but I payed $400 in labor for a smashed and bent steel pipe, come on. And at $50 for a 1.5 steel pipe it shouldve at least been titanium...?Next my alternator wiring, which was almost a pleasant experience. They tested the alternator for me for $150 charging 1.5 hours labor and charged $25 for the parts. My only issue was one of the wires off the alternator needs a key-on 12 volts and all they did was put a piece of tape on the wire telling me this when I figured that they might, you know, finish the job I employed them for? The other issue was the crimped connection needed on my way out.My next problem, a minor one, was that they charged me $10 for EPA waste disposal. For what? Not a single hazardous item was removed from my car or anything at all for that matter. And finally to top it all off the manager tells me if i leave a positive review I can get a free CnC shirt. The same man who lost my keys, estimated me $450 (then happily telling me it actually came out to over $750) and had to crimp on a connector in the parking lot. There was no point in telling me that buddy, I have left the review yall deserved.NEW:CnC stated Ive lied about my bill and EPA charge, proof below. I did not bother asking them to correct their service because I felt they could not do it adequately at that point.

Ive worked with these guys on and off for a number of years. Ive been trying to get one of my cars into proper condition on my own for a bit and finally had to bring it in for pro help (actually Mike provided a couple good ideas along the way even during that period).. Mike and team did the job and my 37 rod is running very nicely again. Granted it needed more than I had hoped though having checked their thoughts with others along the way, it has proven out, once again, that they were right! Thanks guys.

Would definitely NOT recommend CNC Customs for any stock or custom work for that matter!! Buyer please beware!!High upfront retainer they determine taken prior to work with no ball park of hours to complete a given job upfront. They have $140/hour labor rate which they state is justified as they are a step above the rest. Additionally, you will not receive proper breakdown of documented hourly accountability on any given job when complete. Oh and dont forget to sign and initial your liability life away prior to and after work is completed which covers their liability / labor scam Im certain.Gave CNC Customs a Dodge Challenger for a 4 easy OEM Mopar Accessory installs that had a recommended combined install time roughly 3 1/2 hours for all 4. At the end of the day, only 3 of the 4 were installed. The 4th. accessory I was told was the wrong part. It wasnt...I installed myself in an hour without issue. Had to re-install one of the 3 that CNC Customs actually did install due to improper initial installation.Billed 5 1/2 hours @ $140/hr. plus $20 in shop supplies for this experience and essentially did half the work myself!CNC was emailed and made aware of my concerns and criticisms mentioned above. Unfortunately the shop manager just doubled down saying this labor time was accurate.Based on CNC Customs billing structure coupled with my experience, seriously scared to think how many undue labor hour folks have paid for especially on the custom front where its easy to just say took X amount of hours...YIKES!

Extremely knowledgeable and friendly. From the lady at the front to the mechanics in the shop. We had to rewire and pull the engine on a very unique car that requires a lot of extra attention to detail and creativity. I felt that Josh, Donny and the owner CJ really put their heads together to come up with solutions that protected the integrity of my vehicles value. There were some hiccups along the way, but in my experience when you work on custom and classic cars sometimes you dont know what youll run into until youre elbow deep into the project. They were always fair and honest with me and quick to address issues as they came up. Well definitely go back for future work as its always something with classic cars.

If the owner was reputable he would come clean about subpar work and bad customer service and maybe say the issues have been addressed with training etc? We advised of a family emergency because we werent going to lose any more $ by leaving the car in your care. We never received updates from Mike and your secretary had no clue what was going on with our car. We were supposed to get updates on how the $14k was being used but no one returned the messages left with the secretary. Mike gave us a couple of updates but the car was there for 5 months (was supposed to be 3). We didnt get the photos for weeks after we removed the car from your shop. We had to sign for it to recover what little was left of the money we gave you upfront and to get our car back. The primer is cracking and chipping in several places(photos attached).Your employees primered over the chrome trunk lock. They didnt fill the holes in the metal where the back window came out. When we came to get it you said it was ready for a paint. That was untrue. You didnt address the rust in the dash or POR the floor board and the automatic transmission isnt shifting properly since it was dismantled. We would like you to send someone over to fix the primer, sand and apply the POR to the floor pan (at our house). We already tore the metal dash out dash out and will ask a mechanic fix the transmission.

Where do I even begin! I should have read these reviews before taking my 1954 Chevy truck to them. Absolutely worst experience imaginable. I was originally quoted $100/hr because you have to pay for quality and verbal estimate was $5k-$6k for a list of 5 repairs. So lets start with the A/C. Verbal quote was $3K so they wanted a $1,000 deposit, okay done. Donnie then called to tell me the A/C work was done and the cost was over $6,000 !! Get this, they were replacing the old unit and not starting from scratch, of the $6,000, labor was $4,200. Really!! And so far thats the most positive part of this story. Next on the list was replacing the 2 door windows. Donnie calls me and says he needs another deposit to finish the windows. I asked him how much I had already paid between the previous deposits and payment for the A/C work? I sat and waited while he and the accounting person tried to figure it. They couldnt figure it and said it would take more time. I said fine, I leave the country tomorrow so text me the numbers. The only text I receive is Donnie telling me their company policy is to not provide that information via text. I was gone for 2 weeks. When I returned Donnie still didnt have the numbers for me but said he needed another deposit to finish the job. They took off the door panels, installed the the new window mechanism scissor action, quality product. Problem is they said the old work previously done was terrible and VERY dangerous so they have to clean it up. Now its too late to turn back otherwise the job is half finished. At this point the parts for the whole window assemblys is $1,600, so I agree. Keep in mind they still have 3 other items on the list that have not been addressed. Finally the windows are finished so I come by to check on the truck. There is an inch of water on the floorboards. They claim it was from other leaks and they did not leave the windows down during the storm. Ive had the truck for 4 years, never garaged, and never had a leak before. I ask for the bill. HOLD ON- two new windows and assembly, door adjustments, plus labor. The new additional bill is for $12,083.62!!!!!! I lose my mind so Donnie says he will make some adjustments. By the way, they cannot reinstall my door panels now because the plastic screws wont pop back into place. The labor portion of the bill was $10,220.00. This is just for installing and retrofitting the new door windows. Donnie then adjust the bill down to $6,090 for labor. So in the end I paid $6,136 for the A/C, and $7,975, and $400 for initial inspection. Totaling over $14,000 for an A/C unit and two motorized windows with over $10,000 being labor. BTW, labor rate changed from $100/hr to $140/hr!! Now the best part. Donnie says I have to sign their standard disclaimer before I can pick up the truck. I read the disclaimer and its ridiculous, In addition there is a typed page with Donnies notes about me being irritated about the price. This the same phone call where he could not tell me how much I have already spent. Why would I sign that? I dont sign it, I pay and take my truck. They never did the other 3 items from the original quote. A couple months go by, the truck has been sitting in my driveway, and now I cant open the doors. New Battery is in the bed enclosed. I have it checked, its fully charged. I have shaved doors so there are no door handles but there is a hidden button in case you lose your keys. That doesnt work either. So I call Donnie the week before Christmas and he says there is nothing he can do its not their problem. We argue for 20 minutes about how they worked on the doors, the doors wont open now and they need to fix it. Donnie says no take it up with the owner who returns on the 26th. I callback today and Donnie says the owner CJ doesnt come to the office anymore. He usually comes in on Saturdays, come back then. I asked to have CJ call me and he says no. So after charging me $8,000 for 2 new windows, motor assembly unit and door adjustments, Donnie says I dont have a warranty. Stay tuned and stay away!!!

No doubt, Great place! Brought in my 2015 FRS, Came in with a couple of my own ideas, and got the most honest opinions by CJ and Mike. They didnt dissuade me, turn me down, or push me into other suggestions. The entire time they gave me honest thoughts, nothing more or less. No time wasted, and followed all the right paperwork. I might just have bad luck but i havent been to a body or performance shop that acts as should-be as CNC. They did my intake, exhaust, custom stealth cut out, tuning, and body work. Just seeing the cars on the lot and the tools available to them, they have the network and potential to do anything you need for a car. Expect to pay for the work, good quality comes at a very reasonable rate. Weigh your choices!

Review №28

Let me start out by saying that I have been going to CNC for over a year now, and I have spent a pretty significant amount of money with these guys, so I feel that I can give a pretty accurate assessment of the quality of work one can expect at CNC. I own a few classic cars, but one has been the proverbial problem child. I have a 68 Mustang, which I bought back in 2003 and which I have sunk six figures into - literally - with all of the Mustang experts in the DFW area over the past 14 years. I wanted to build a Shelby tribute car that was different from any of the others which one will see at the shows and in the magazines. I bought all the right parts, and the expensive trim pieces, and even paid a pretty penny having all of the paint and body work done. However no matter how pretty she looked, the engine was a HUGE disappointment. Even though it was a gorgeous engine that was built by one of the many experts you will find on-line, the thing just didnt perform properly. There was a huge amount of vibration coming from the engine, and when I stomped on the gas pedal the thing just fizzled. In short, I wanted smoking tires, not a smoking engine. Through the years the car bounced from shop to shop, and I tried everything from new carbs to new fly wheels, etc. I had brought the car to Mike and the guys a few times before to sort out some electrical issues and upgrade various parts on the car, and Mike had solved a steering problem which nobody else had been able to fix, so I was comfortable with them tackling the engine. In short, they pulled the engine out, disassembled it and found some major issues which couldnt easily be fixed. They talked me into replacing the engine, and I agreed. Mike built a fuel-injected 347 Stroker for me from the ground up, and we used the best parts we could find which were in my budget. Now, the thing screams and is gorgeous!!! The engine runs smooth and tame around town, and when I am ready to get on it - watch out! For the first time since 2003, I was able to enjoy my car this week. I found myself smiling while driving, and I realized that was all I ever wanted. Thanks guys for putting the smile back on my face again! These guys are THE ONLY experts anywhere in DFW that I will trust to touch ANY of my classic cars - PERIOD!
