When we started building the possibility with Gil we knew we found our place. They found us the perfect sapphire oval stone and were able to create a beautiful one of a kind custom ring. Our custom engagement ring was two years in the making, and Rice Village Diamonds treated us with utmost friendliness and patience the entire way.I first walked in early 2019 to learn about rings and diamonds in general. I was upfront about my lack of intent to buy right away, but they were still incredibly patient with me. I came away with a lot of knowledge as well as a few interesting choices.Afterwards, I researched up and down, from Tiffany and Cartier at one end to friend-referred raw diamond dealers working out of dark vaulted back offices at the other end (and James Allen and Blue Nile in between). But my mind always came back to Rice Village Diamonds when it came to a balance of quality, customer service, and value.Unfortunately, personal tragedies in my now-fiances life delayed the proposal, but when I walked back in a year and a half later, Gil was incredibly patient in spending hours with me over several sessions not only unearthing some of the old models Id seen more than a year earlier just based on description, but also showing me a large variety of stones across a wide swath of price and qaulity ranges.As later confirmed by my own independent research, Rice Village Diamonds is really picky with their stones, picking diamonds that over-perform their on-paper stats (Is/Js that face up white, eye-clean SIs, under-sizes that look larger face up, etc.)In the end, Gil worked with me to create the perfect custom ring inspired by a few existing pieces and guided by his expert advice. When I was tempted to pay a couple thousand more dollars to upgrade our chosen stone (on paper), he even dissuaded me as he thought the diamond we had previously chosen was the best value-for-performance, and already perfect for the ring. He wanted to do justice to the ring, even though it would be at the cost of reduced profit.Rice Village Diamonds is great because they are not just a store to buy stuff from -- they are a your jeweler, a trusted advisor in the old school sense.

We went to a different jeweler to design my ring, and he never came through. My husband, boyfriend at the time, went showed them the design, and they had it done in almost NO time. It was done and ready by his proposal! On top of that, when a diamond from the band came out, they replaced it with no hassle! I LOVE them.

Gil provided outstanding customer service and educated both myself and my fiancee during the entire process. He had a ring crafted with all my fiancees requests using other rings as examples in his shop. Gil used to be a diamond broker, so he knows the business inside and out and knows what matters in a diamond (and possibly even more important, what doesnt matter in a diamond). He was able to show us where to pay for a higher quality stone and where to save money on the stone so that it looked the best in her rings setting. Gil was also willing to work with me and show me lab grown stones upon request even though I wound up going with the mined stone in the end.

Found a necklace on their website that I wanted to purchase as a wedding gift. The necklace showed in stock so I drove the 25minutes to their location to buy it. When I walked in and described it, the salesman started saying they could order it for me. I told him that it said in stock on their website. He said that means they can order it directly from a warehouse. That is NOT what in stock means. The salesman knew that their website does not represent their actual on site inventory so it’s either a deceitful practice to draw in customers and sell them other items or pure incompetence. Very disappointed in my wasted time and won’t be returning.Edit for response: you completely ignored the reason for my complaint. If I wanted you to ship jewelry to my house, I would have bought it online. Listing items as in stock when they aren’t is dishonest and there is nothing worse in the jewelry business than dishonesty. What is the point of having a store if customers can’t look at the jewelry before purchasing. You’re basically a front for a big jewelry distribution warehouse at this point. Very disappointed in your response.

Too expensive and limited selection. You cant pitch stone quality vs competitors when the GIA reports are the same. Look elsewhere!Edit in response to owners reply. First, I visited your store twice, so your retort of if I actually visited your store has no merit. Second, I am familiar with adamantine luster of diamonds, polish, symmetry, etc. Precision of cut and inherent quality of the rough stone are pitched by almost all jewelers. In regards to limited, let me clarify by saying as compared to other jewelers (not retail chain jewelry stores). Consumers relate to in stock as being available to purchase and have in hand at time of purchase, it seems you use in stock to also mean available but not in hand. Your claim of 99 out of 100 visitors become customers is unrealistic based on these reviews alone. In the end, this is my review which represents my opinion based on my experience. Others may feel different and good luck with other potential customers. By the way, Gil is who I worked with when I visited your store.

Rice Village Diamonds offered best in class service to my fiancé and I when picking out my engagement ring and our wedding bands. I regularly get stopped by others who comment on how beautiful my engagement ring is. The best thing about it is that we were able to thoughtfully sit down with Ron and Gil to learn about diamonds and create a ring we both loved- within our budget! We could not be happier and plan to be life long customers!

Gil and his team did an amazing job helping me create my custom made engagement ring. He really got to know me and he went to the ends of the earth to find me the perfect pink sapphire. I thought it would be way out of our price range, but he made it happen. I live right down the road from Rice Village Diamonds and popped in once about a year ago to look around. I was surprised to see their reasonable pricing on many diamond pieces.2 weeks later I decided to made a custom pendant from my grandmothers old cut diamonds. They turned a 1950s ugly ring into a beautiful pendant with some intricate detailing that Gil was able to work out for me. And I’m not the easiest customer.It has been a few months and I get many compliments on my unique piece, which I wear daily. So thanks to Gil and Becca and staff who helped me out. Once I save up some more, I hope to go back for one of their modern East west bands I saw in the case! Stunning!

We LOVE Rice Village Diamonds! My fiancé bought my engagement ring and wedding band here after one of our friends had a great experience with their engagement ring and wedding bands. Gil and the staff are so knowledgeable, honest, and accommodating. They make sure you get exactly what you want for your budget. We have referred all our friends to RVD and will be customers forever! Can’t say enough good things.

I appreciate this location has put measures in place for their safety and COVID-19, for example an area for you to remove your masks for a camera and not being buzzed in until your mask is replaced. Employees inside were wearing masks. I also saw hand sanitizer inside which was great.However, I was pretty disappointed by my limited experience here. We are new to the city without a go-to jewelry store and have been looking for a place to re-size my engagement ring and purchase wedding bands from. We found multiple places on their website that they listed they would do re-sizing, but upon arriving, we were told they will only re-size rings that came from their shop. They did refer us to another jeweler across the street, but that location was completely closed down with the displays empty, making the experience even a bigger waste of time.

I was able to create a setting for my own stone with the help of their designer, starting from an inkling of an idea and a rough sketch. The guys walked me through the design process, educated me on the setting design, metal, and explained how they select their stones and appraise them. They offer a much more personal experience than received at other places, as well as competitive prices. Yes, they are busy sometimes, but it is understandable, and they will always make time. A++, will shop again.

I originally went into Rice Village Diamond’s with my fiancé to find out her size and get an idea of the style that she wanted. My fiancé had a few different styles she was interested in and Rebecca was able to find a few rings that hit each style, she truly understood what we wanted. After leaving that evening, I reached out to her about making a custom ring that incorporated the three rings we liked the most. She was wonderfully patient and insightful. When it was time to pick out a diamond for the ring, I met with a diamond expert at the store and he helped me come up with a great diamond that was just right for the ring. He understood the art and even told me the areas it would not be worth upgrading and what characteristics would shine with this particular design.I don’t think a better ring could have been designed for us, and the price was very reasonable. Everyone I worked with at this store was extremely knowledgeable and helpful, I have not experienced their level of service very often. Shoot, this has been close to half a year ago and I still catch my fiance just admiring her ring. Wouldn’t have been so successful without Rice Village Diamonds.

The best diamond buying experience in a no pressure environment. Gil is extremely knowledgeable in his field and will patiently show you stones and settings until you are absolutely satisfied. Great experience here buying an engagement ring. Gil, Roni, Julio, Rebecca and team are awesome. They let you browse easily, in comparison to some stores in Houston where they awkwardly follow you around. They fixed everything in a timely manner. In addition to very high end exquisite pieces they have affordable modern designs as well. The engagement rings come in all ranges and if you tell them your budget, they dont try to push you upward, which is nice.

I searched everywhere around Houston for an engagement ring, including major retailers in the mall and small family owned jewelry stores sprinkled around Houston. My advice to you if you dont believe the reviews is to check out as many places as you like, but dont make a purchase without visiting Rice Village Diamonds. These guys are great. From the friendly atmosphere to the knowledge of stones, my whole experience was amazing. They have a wide array of beautiful stones and you wont find better prices elsewhere. They had a very limited selection of engagement rings, and the woman that helped me didnt listen to me at all. At one point I said, Im not a huge fan of solitaires--I like the look of three stones. Two minutes later she said, so I think what youre looking for is a solitaire. Not confident in their ability to design a custom ring for me at all

A couple of weeks ago my wife and I were visiting Houston and stopped in Rice Village. My wife wanted to buy a new diamond ring and had been looking around for some time for something special. We were waited on by Gil who instead of just showing us a bunch of different rings took the time to explain the differences in diamonds. It was really interesting and he was not pushy or in a big hurry to make a sale which is what we expected. Instead he spent time with my wife until he understood what she liked and then displayed for her the type of rings she liked and explained the difference in quality and price of each diamond. We purchased a ring my wife really likes and we found the price to be very competitive with other stores she had shopped at previously. We highly recommend Rice Village for anyone who is looking for a diamond ring at a good price.

Gil is an artistic genius! I just picked up my custom designed engagement ring today and couldnt wait to give him a review. He deconstructed an old wedding ring that looks nothing like the one I put on my finger today. He was able to perfectly match the design of my fiancees ring, and we could not be happier with the outcome. I cant stop staring at my ring and all of the detail he was able to put into it. I was referred here from a couple of friends. I wanted to hand pick my diamond from my fiance and Gil was very helpful and very patient with me. I went to him back in July and was overwhelmed with a lot diamond advice, not only from him but from multiple jewelers I had been to. I went back to him in August and created a custom design setting for the diamond I picked out, it took about 3 weeks, which is standard. Gil was very helpful with picking a diamond, but he could have done a better job with explaining to me about the CAD design and how the ring was going to look when we got it back. We had to send it back, which was ok. My fiance now, loved the ring!! We had to resize it, so we dropped it off and waited a couple of days. I called one afternoon and the lady told me it was going to be ready after 5. My fiance went to pick it up the next morning and everyone seemed really confused about the ring and told her to come back after 2. She wasnt very happy about that and upset her. I would have given them 5 stars, but upset my fiance. I would still recommend everyone to come here for a diamond, they have the best selection!

When I first started looking for my wifes engagement ring Rice Village Diamonds was the first place I went to just by chance. Jeff and another lady in there were very nice, they showed me everything I was looking for and answered all my stupid questions. I explained that this was my first stop and I wanted to shop around, they said thats great, and they hoped to see me again.Sure enough after going to what seems like every other jeweler in town(at least 6 others) I was running back to Rice Village Diamonds. The service and care that Jeff gave us was a different level above every other place I went.Im just a normal guy who out punted his coverage when the love of my life said shed marry me. If I could have drafted her a fantasy football team to show her how much I cared she would have won her league. Instead I had to purchase my first piece of jewelry for someone who has been wearing jewelry her whole life and would have to wear this one ring for the rest of it. Jeff worked with me to make the perfect ring for her(I did ask her what she likes before I dove in). He answered all my questions and made me feel good and confident about the process.I dont live in Houston and had to have the ring by a certain day for a vacation we were going on. He completed the ring in a couple weeks and over nighted it to me just so I could propose how I had planned.There was no doubt that for the wedding we were going to go back to Rice Village Diamonds. Jeff made a beautiful wedding band to perfectly match the engagement ring. He took the same amount of care in helping me find a ring for myself. Im sure he made almost no money off the cheap ring I bought. I just wanted a simple inexpensive band because Im afraid of losing it....doesnt matter, he sent me 3 different rings in Austin to try on and figure out what I liked.Every time we have come back to Houston my wife and I swing by to say hi and get her rings cleaned.Jeff seemed to be just as excited to see the rings on her finger as I was because of the pride he has in his work.This was one of the best shopping experiences I have ever had. I would recommend Jeff and Rice Village Diamonds to anyone shopping for an engagement band or just some pretty jewelry. My mom has started going there after she saw how Jeff treated me.Fantastic place in a great area of town. You wont be disappointed.

One gentleman was very polite and helpful when we took my fiancés engagement ring in to be resized. He also helped us get it reset and taught us how to recognize or own stone so we could keep track when we had to leave it. The service charge was not bad. We were very disappointed when we went back to but wedding rings and we waited for twenty minutes for a representative to help us and no one would.

Wow - I have found my new Houston jeweler. Your first impression of the store is that it is immaculate, beautifully organized and welcoming. An employee greats you with a warm smile and a reassurance that theyll be right with you (take your time while I peruse the selection!). A jeweler comes to speak with you next and you instantly feel reassured that your questions and concerns will be addressed by an experienced professional. 2 weeks ago my sister brought me to the store after I noticed my new engagement ring had different sized prongs and the diamond wasnt centered in its setting. I asked the jeweler if it was something that could be fixed and he assured me it could. I was worried the diamond was loose (which it was) and that the prongs were catching on clothes. I was weary coming into this place, only because the original jeweler said the prongs were how theyre supposed to be, and the diamond couldnt be centered because of its shape. Yet, Gill made sure to talk me through what he would be able to do, and gave me a very fair (very very very fair) price. I called the day it was meant to be picked up to check on it - they had encountered an issue or two when restructuring it and needed a few more days, Im not sure on the details but he guaranteed I would love it (we had spent a lot of time talking about what I wanted fixed) and that the price would be the same. I had no problem waiting a bit longer, I just wanted it to be done right! Gill called me a few days later to say the ring was ready and it was beautiful or perfect, I cant remember the exact word but he sounded pleased with his work. Well when I picked it up, tears filled my eyes because of how beautiful they made my special ring!! Not only did they fix the uneven prongs, they essentially rebuilt the basket (including the under-halo) to make everything absolutely perfect, symmetrical, and STUNNING. They even reinforced the white gold on the band, which we hadnt even discussed in our initial meeting. To say I was impressed is an understatement. I was blown away with the attention to detail and mastery of their work. And I wasnt even an original customer! They were fixing a ring somebody else made, which is just the epitome of professionalism. I am finally getting around to writing this long-overdue review of Rice Village Diamonds. I began my search for the perfect engagement ring by going to this store. I met with Gil and got some prices on various oval diamonds. With this being the first place Id gone, I did not have much of a frame of reference, so I decided to shop around some more. I looked at most of the major diamond retailers in Houston - Jared, Deutsch & Deutsch, Robbins Bros, and one or two others. While other stores may have had larger showrooms, flashier advertising, etc., the prices at Rice Village Diamond were unbeaten. E.g., Robbins Bros was wanting $1K (~25%) more than Rice Village for a diamond of comparable size and quality. On top of that, Rice Village estimated a 4-week start-to-finish time frame for a custom ring (though I think I got it in 3!). This was unmatched by their competitors. Gil was an excellent salesman, and Jeff worked closely with me to take the concept I had for my fiancees ring and turn it into a reality. We went through at least three iterations of designs until we got it just the way I wanted it. When I got the ring, it exceeded my expectations. It is perfect.I would highly recommend going to Rice Village Diamonds if you are looking for an engagement ring.

My now fiance purchased my engagement from Rice Village Diamonds. Cindy was great from the start. RVD was the second place we went ring shopping. Our previous expirence with Shaws Jewelers was dull, lacking enthusiasm from the staff, and not the least bit helpful. RVD was a pleasurable experience from the moment we walked in. The selection is outstanding, and most of the staff is courteous and knowledgeable. I cant say enough nice things about Cindy. We will definitely be back for our bands. I will recommend them to all of my friends!

I had finished doing my month of rigorous research on everything diamond-related, and decided to start looking at real products. I just happened to see Rice Village Diamonds from across the street, and figured it cant hurt to check it out. Boy am I glad I did!When I first stepped in, the owner came and introduced himself, and told me that if I needed help I could ask anything to Jeff (the jeweler). Jeff talked to me briefly, and the FIRST thing I told him was, hey Im not rich, so Im on a budget. He laughed and told me that few people are rich the first time they get an engagement ring, and from then on he was nothing but helpful and considerate of my budget.I left about 15 minutes later, thinking wow are all jewelers this friendly? Well 3 weeks and 7 jewelers later, I was convinced that Jeff and the staff at RVD are unique. These people really make the effort ... zero pressure, lighthearted mood, and they are definitely looking out for your interest. Jeff patiently sat with me as I looked through a million-page book of rings, and in the end he actually custom made a ring using an idea of mine, with beautiful diamond that was bigger than I thought I could afford, but kept it all within my budget! This when other jewelers point blank told me that I couldnt afford anything custom-made. And yes, the diamond was certified and the RVD price was almost exactly equal to a comparable Blue Nile price. I dont know of any other brick-and-mortar jeweler that can compete with the internet!Anyway, I ramble ... point is, Jeff and Irene are amazing. Rice Village Diamonds is amazing. My fiancee and I will definitely be going here for all of our future ring/jewelery desires.
