Their activated carbon coffee is both interesting & delicious. It’s not a “study” coffee shop as it very small- more of a get with a friend to chat. Also line is sizable but moves quickly. Good place for interesting coffee & if you have time to wait a bit.
This coffee shop single handedly changed me into a coffee drinker. All the staff know what i want to drink with out me saying a word! Before I tried their coffee I thought Starbucks was what coffee was supposed to taste like. Now I know better. Luce Ave Coffee is REAL coffee and is here to stay!I’d give them 10 stars if I could. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I’ve had such bad luck with matcha lattes being too thick, too sweet, or metallic. I was so happy when I got the iced matcha latte with coconut milk here! I was even recommended that it’s already sweet when I asked for vanilla syrup. Thanks to the baristas forTheir knowledge of the drinks they are understanding and helpful when suggesting drink customizations. The space is very comfortable and good for working or studying customers.
Must try the muffins and other baked goods! Not to mention the obvious which is the excellent coffee. These guys are experts in what they do. Highly recommend! One of the best in Houston
Luce Ave Richmond is one of my favorite coffee shops in the city. I try a lot of different places and brew pour over at home. Being interested in coffee and the brewing process, I love it when shops take time to explain about the beans, so we can have conversations about it. When I decide on a shop to frequent, consistency is the key. If I repeatedly go back, I want my drink to taste the same, even if it is a different barista who makes it every time. The owner at this location is lovely and cares about her customers. From time to time, she’ll ask me how my drink is to make sure it is good and that it tastes the way it should. For pastries, I recommend the almond croissant or the blueberry scone.Additionally, the space is cozy, so I work here from time to time too. The staff is friendly, and the space is usually not very loud.
A great place to pop in and grab a coffee. It doesnt have the biggest store front, but the great customer service and tasty options make up for it. I would recommend the chocolate latte with a shot of espresso.
Parking is a pain. Has a out 2 designated Parking spots and the rest are marked for other businesses and will tow at your expenses. Other than that Great tasting coffee. But the store is on the smaller/narrower side,so if you are a party bigger than 4 you might have to figure out a way to sit together. Their Mango-Guava cake is sooooooo good! A must try!
Cute little spot..almost too little. We were standing in line and felt like we were crowding the guy sitting at a table closest to the muffin case. My iced Montblanc w/ almond milk and extra shot was great! They do not have (or ran out of?) soy milk, but other than that and the interior feeling a little cramp, it’s a great spot!
This is my favorite coffee shop in the area! The island latte is my go-to, and I regularly crave their pistachio muffins. Highly recommend!
It smells really bad in there. Coffee tastes bad.
I ordered a yummy drink and my date had a red velvet “cupcake” they warmed up the cupcake 🤢🤮 which made it worse after we both tried it we realized it was definitely old and not tasteful my date went up to the counter to maybe ask for a refund or to switch it they declined and “sorry we don’t do returns”…. It’s a refund ladies not a return poor cupcake and poor services #wont-return
Love it, just spend 40 min here feels like 5 min. The place is well ventilated and smells coffee and fresh, temperature very good unlike other places where you feel hot specially when add the warmth of the coffee. Here my computer breath without kicking the extra fan. Cool I like air quality. The drinks are awesome, I ordered Cortado it is well balanced and you can feel the quality of the coffee bean. I also ordered the drip coffee and it tasted sharp such a great kick for early morning. I got the muffin it is beyond comments check the picture and you know. Pricing is good, two drinks and a special muffin for about $10. Will come back.
Drinks are creative and delicious! Adorable cafe thats reasonably priced with staff thats super sweet and helpful. Definitely should come here!
This is my new favorite coffee place. My daughter and I have run into Houston from Sugar Land for coffee from this place. I love the Monte Blanc which has an unusual ingredient… charcoal. It sounds weird but it works for us. Coffee is supposed to have lots of healthy benefits, but many are lost during the roasting and drying process, so I see it as a plus to add another healthy ingredient back in. Charcoal is said to help draw toxins from your system, especially metals like the mercury we get when we eat fish.
Awesome coffee! The girl taking our order was obviously pretty new to her job but she was sweet and friendly and asked the manager (or owner?) any questions she didnt know the answer to. She recommended my drink and it was excellent.
Friendly staff with lots of innovative options in terms of drinks. I like things on the not so sweet side, so a lot of the drinks were too much for me. However, its still a cute spot with seating for groups of 2-3 primarily.
This place was great but the gnat infestation was very distracting while trying to study. There were everywhere in the shop, getting all over my drink.
One of my favorite coffee stops in Houston. Local roaster that makes an excellent pour over and great lattes.
Small coffee shop with high-end pours, bfast tacos, pastries etc. Really good
I really did like the Black Island! BUT beware that this does not taste like coffee (barely) and if you like the taste of coconut, it has coconut milk and its pretty expensive for coffee ( i believe 6-7 dollars) but it is worth a try! I will definitely visit again!! I do want to try the other black series;)**update: I’d give this place 5/5 because of their OTHER COFFEES. I love the Creamericano, and Island Latte. The Black series are a bit insta worthy but just please give their other coffees a try because it’s now my favorite coffee place in houston. I love how luce coffee roasters have lots of specialty coffees that aren’t available anywhere else!
This is my favorite coffee shop in Houston 🥰I love their creamericano and island latte
Fantastic coffee shop. These baristas know what they are doing and make a darn good flat white.
First, I got a chai tea (average quality), espresso (below average quality), kolache croissant (above average quality) and a red velvet muffin (poor quality). It took almost five minutes for the order to be placed because I had to repeat myself over and over and over. It was like I wasnt listened to. Maybe she was having a bad day? I dont know. But then, all of the staff that interacted with my order had issues with the order that she conveyed to them. The kolache was special because it was in a croissant! It looked horrible but tasted good. Sadly, the red velvet cup cake tasted like soap. I would have forgiven it if I was able to get a refund. But, they would not accept it back. Now, I understand that because we are in the middle of a viral pandemic, they cant take the food back but the food was terrible. They could have just tossed that trash into the trash. I wanted a refund for the terrible soap flavored muffin.
Great coffee! One of the best flavors of the zone. Excellent service from the crew.
If you are here for the coffee, it was actually good. I just had to come on here and share my experience so no one else will have to be embarrassed like I just was. Long story short, I brought my daughter in to use the restroom and as we were coming out there was a lady standing at the exit waiting for me to tell me that the restroom was for customers only because apparently someone already broke something in their men’s restroom. I have use the restroom in here before without any issues. Let’s just say had I been a WHITE woman with my WHITE daughter they would have said absolutely nothing to me. I don’t know what she thought we could have broken in a restroom for less than five minutes when in all actuality my amazing daughter was sweet enough to add the paper roll to their dispenser because they had the toilet paper on the back of the toilet and not where it was supposed to be. And for you all at Luce Ave. It’s HOW you approach people, just standing in front of the door as we are leaving out to let us know that the restrooms are for customers only, lady you did the most. Learn how to evaluate the situation, it’s probably not my seven-year-old daughter that is going to break your restroom. I proceeded to turn around and walk right back in there, bought myself a cookie and a coffee that I did not want just because I will never let my daughter feel like she’s somewhere she’s not suppose to be simply because we didn’t make a purchase.
The cortado here is light bodied, somewhat acidic and bright, and a little tangy. It was served nice and hot (a problem I encounter at many other places) and had the classic look which is always a nice touch. The place was clean and felt like a nice place to talk or study, though it might feel a bit cramped simply because of the room shape. The baristas were very friendly, willing to answer questions about their different drinks and about the beans. I really appreciated their enthusiasm. Though the coffee did not have my preferred flavor profile, I still enjoyed it as well as my experience overall. I would definitely come here again!
Some of the best locally (or maybe anywhere) roasted coffee you will find. Great atmosphere as well. I enjoyed talking to one of the owners and roasters while I was there, and loved the passion and attention to detail he gave in making my pour over coffee. This is a place that truly cares about their craft and it shows in the product. Their house blend is very good, and their Ethiopian roasts are just plain fantastic. I have tried a fair number of local roasters and coffee shops since moving to Houston 6 years ago, and Luce is by far the best!
Loving enjoying a nice afternoon here.1. WARM! How appreciated in the city full of cold cafes and libraries. Especially in the chill days.2. Quiet, many outlets, and strong wifi, which are good for study, reading and work.3. Staffs are very nice!4. The drink is delicious.5. Decors are white and beautiful, lights are bright, which is really let me feel relax and good for concentrating doing sth.
This place is LEGIT!! I tried it for the first time today and got some muffins, tacos, a kolache, iced coffee and hazelnut macchiato and they were all AMAZING. This will be my new stop in the mornings!
My mom and I went here the other day for the first time. The staff was so excited to tell us about their drinks. My caramel latte was beautiful, and the place was quiet enough to have a nice morning chatting with my mom. The back had people working on their laptops so it was nice that we could sit towards the front and not have to worry about disturbing them. Easy parking, too, which is a plus. Well be back!
Great place i have enjoyed my coffee, good customer service, owner was very friendly I love this place. Highly recommended!
I always get their creamericano, which is delicious. But today when I order it, it was disgusting. I went back to the shoo to demand a new remake since this is an expensive coffee $7.50, but the owner gave me an attitude. I have been coming here for a long time for the same coffee, I know how it should taste.either they downgraded their coffee bean to save money or just not on point.
First visit.Had a Sweet Chocolate Luccino (comparable to a frappe), and it was good.Could taste the coffee and chocolate. No one flavor dominated. There was a nice balance.Wish they had whip cream, but the blended drink was still good without it.Baristas are cool and friendly. The space is a little cramped. This is definitely noticeable when there is a full house and a line at the counter. Also, not the most comfortable furniture. I say that to hint that there are places better suited for lounging. But despite the interior space and furniture, I’d go back because of the service and quality of their drinks.2nd visitHad another Sweet Chocolate LucinnoIt was good. Well balanced. Not too sweet or too strong with coffee.Good customer service. They greet you when you walk in. Changed my original review of 3 stars to 5 stars. One of the best and most consistent coffee shops I’ve been to in Houston.Glad to give them my business.
Good cofffee and excellent service.
This was my second time at this location, I believe I came over a year ago. This time led me to write a review because of the good customer service! I came with a friend after having lunch next door. We both ordered the Creamericano. I recommend you getting it half sweetened or maybe less cream because it was pretty sweet/very heavy. I couldnt finish it. But they have a lot of other options on their menu. Plenty of seating and outlets. Would definitely return if Im in the area! Great place to to meet with a friend or client. Also good to read a book for work on your laptop.
A really cute and fun shop! They have a lot of exciting flavors of drinks - I got the cookies and cream latte! There are so many other flavors that I would love to try. The muffins are also very good.Parking: easy parking in the lot right in front of the shop!
Unique coffee ☕ everything is hand made to order.
OMG! IM IN LOVE WITH THIS PLACE. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A STARBUCKS FAN BUT NOW I HAVE A NEW PLACE. CANT WAIT FOR THEM TO BE EVERYWHERE. ALL THE COFFEE DRINKS THAT I HAVE HAD SO FAR ARE GREAT. I LOVE THE COFFEE FLAVOR. I ALSO TRYIED TWO BREAKFAST THINGS AND VERY GOOD. MUST TRY PLACE.
Was about to come patronize but I called to ask a question first. The co-owner answered the phone and couldnt speak English, I asked if she spoke English because nothing I said she could understand then she abruptly hung up in my face (she understood that English though?). I called back and she refused to answer the phone but passed the phone to a male worker. He was so sweet. He tried to get the other co-owner to talk to me so I can tell them what happened but they was busy with an emergency I think. So they lost a customer because why would I patronize a place that has a rude owner like this. The male worker that I talked to, deserves to be the owner not her. She will not make it in business acting like that and thats what she deserves. Hope the other owner gets out before she destroys their business.
Bless the owners heart! She just went to her store to check on it during the freeze and started with a couple of people asking if she could make them coffee, now she has a long line. Iced Matcha latte and Spanish latte were the bomb and owner was very sweet!
Overpriced mediocre coffee. The owner was extremely rude and unfriendly. The store is so small that I could barely find a seat to enjoy my coffee. I didn’t see a reason for me to go visit again.
Came in and immediately saw the barista not wearing a mask and talking with the cashier. When she saw me she didn’t put a mask on and instead finished their conversation before acknowledging me. Barista continued to not wear a mask as she made drinks and provided next to no customer service. The drinks are good though so that was nice but the blended beverages do not contain coffee and they said they couldn’t give me any espresso even on the side.
Coffee is great! I tried the Spanish latte and it even had the milk foam art on top. The staff was great with exception of a white employee who took my family and I’s orders. We came in casual day clothes and she was very impersonal and almost rude. When a group of people came in professional clothing she was all bubbly and seemed to go above and beyond for them. We went back to the register a second time and she immediately went back to being stoic. My family and I love stopping by and trying new coffee places so while we really enjoyed the coffee and pastries offered here, the register staff really discourages us from coming back. That being said, the employee making the coffee was amazing and even asked us if we enjoyed our drinks!
Came in on a Sunday and the place was packed. The cashier (which I believe is the manager or the owner) was super rude. She gave me an attitude and impatiently took my order. The coffee was ok but not worth the price. With such a terrible customer service, I would not recommend this place.
Everyone at our table was enjoying everything. The staff was friendly and observant. This place has an awesome feel to it. Similar to a cafe in Las Vegas I liked.
I always go here now ... love the bottled cream coffee. I bring some to my coworkers on occasion and they always say its better Starbucks. Always see a couple of constant faces there too...
It says that they are rouster but.. i do not thonk that the coffee is super good..
These are the $6 a day coffees thats are causing millennials to live at home and they are totally worth it.
Clean and spacious! I love their strawberry tea and earl grey latte.
Spanish latte half sweet. That’s the best thing on the menu!
I recently had a house built in the area so I was excited to try the coffee shop in my neighborhood. Horrible decisions, Horrible experience coffee is okay.
Love to stop by here in the mornings to grab a drink whenever I can. Everyones super friendly and welcoming even in the mornings 😆.Snag a table and its a great place to chill and knock out some work too.
Such good customer service and the staff was super friendly. We ordered 2 drinks from their Black Label menu. Super Yummy -cant wait to come back!
The caramel macchiato was excellent! Better than Starbucks and a lot cheaper with more milk options. I also got a red velvet muffin, and have tasted it yet, but it feels so soft and warm. I def will be coming here before work from now on.
Used to love it and be a regular before the second location open. It’s like this one has become an after thought.
Cashier was friendly and knowledgeable and the coffee was absolutely delicious. That foam was so creamy and silky. I will definitely be back.
Nice vibes and cute workers. Went on a date here with a guy who talked wayyyyy too much and suggested it. I told him I dont drink coffee or tea. This place has juice, but only in when its in season. The juice wasnt in season. So I ended up spending $5 on this drink that wasnt bad, but it definitely tasted like coffee. Wouldnt come back here or go out with the guy again. If you actually like coffee then this is worth checking out, just make sure to bring a better date who lets you talk.
I prefer this coffee shop for their Luce Signature coffee drinks. Their Creamericano has a roasted caramel taste that takes me back to an earlier time when I first enjoyed caramel.
I went here because the line at Starbucks was long. I do not mind trying other places. I always order lattes. I go to order a latte and she said would you like a shot if espresso. I said no I dont need anymore. What it comes with is good enough. She said ours doesnt come with espresso. That is not an espresso. Call it coffee with milk then. I thought Starbucks is expensive and this place is even more expensive for not knowing their coffee.
Another overpriced coffee shop serving marginal product.
Cute shop with great drinks!
Love this place! The staff is super friendly and knowledgeable.
Nice people. But I waited 15 minutes for a 5 dollar iced coffee. So there’s that.
Such a cute coffee shop. My sister bought some amazing smelling whole beans and a dark chocolate almond milk lucinno, and I got a matcha milk lucinno. It was a perfectly blended matcha, ice and milk concoction. The employees were very informative and explained everything so happily.I will definitely stop by here again when Im in the area.
Loved their signature creamuccino coffee I might be spelling it wrong but it was delicious!!! Not too sweet but sweet enough. Haven’t tasted that anywhere else and the young girl at the register was super sweet and helped us out since it was our first time there. Love supporting small business!
Nice and cozy place excellent customer service!!! Most of all great ambiance!!!! Maybe a little tight place but everything else looks amazing.
Coffee flavor was very tasty and the hot link with croissant was yum. The barista making the drinks was very helpful.
Best coffee place in the area! They roast their beans in house, and the coffee tastes like no other I’ve had before. They also have partnerships with a local breakfast taco place with some really good brisket tacos and La Cecilia, a Sicilian bakery in montrose that makes croissants that rival any I’ve ever had (Europe included).Staff is super friendly and the atmosphere is great. Highly recommended!
Awesome spot. Great drinks. Nice casual bites .
Delicious coffee and so cheap! Why would anyone go to a big chain coffee shop when you can go here?
I have been here a few times. Honestly, to me the coffee is not good. The place is overpriced for the quality. I had a hot mocha delivered to me. Upon finishing the drink i was surprised with a string of slime in my cup. NO idea what that was from but i threw it out. This was the 2nd time it happened. The first time i thought maybe the milk settled and caused that to happen. But for it to happen 2 times is too much and it was alot bigger, nastier and slimier the second time. This was all just my experience. From my experience i am not going to go back.
It was good, I just like their other location better (so pretty).
Great coffee and pastries. Something different
