Its a bit expensive, but they are a higher-end bakery than 85C. This isnt where you come when you want some mass-produced cakes; this is where you come when you want moderately fancy Euro-Asian-inspired works of art. They have large cakes as well as individual serving cakes. And they dont just look fancy, they taste good as well. Great service! If they have it (since they rotate their flavor selection often) I highly recommend their gateaux plasir--it has the most heavenly chocolate mousse!

If you crave desserts dont go anywhere else in the whole city of Houston but Jungle cafe! For any event their cakes are first of all, ART and secondly perfect taste !! Prices are affordable and the store its nice to enjoy fresh unique style and taste desserts and coffee. I m so glad I discovered this place! Definitely a loyal customer!

This bakery has lasted a long time - they used to be located in a different plaza in Chinatown. Then they upgraded to a very large space where it is located currently - it was very new and clean and empty back then. Now its downsized to about half the size it was originally after the move. I suppose its not doing well - 85 degrees celsius came in across the street and threw it out of business I suspect.But dont write this one off! Been coming here for years and the black forest and mango mousse are some of the most soft, creamy delicious cakes Ive tried. And honestly the price isnt so bad for a high-end bakery. Ive heard that wedding cakes done here are absolutely spectacular and delicious.Theres a display case with cakes made by Jungle Cafe, and then a table with some knick knacks for celebration like cake toppers and such. When you place an order they bring you a frozen one from the back usually so be sure to wait for it to thaw a bit before eating. If its for a special occasion they have tiny toppers that theyll add to the cake with your requested wording. I dont know that they write on the cake with icing - in a lot of cases due to the beautiful decoration on the cakes Id imagine it wouldnt look very good.Everything is beautifully, oh so beautifully decorated. Not only the cakes but the packaging as well!Theres a convenient iPad with which to pay with at the front. No complaints about the service.As always with Chinatown parking is guaranteed but not guaranteed to be close.

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I purchased a letter cake from them and it was very sweet/sugary to the point where none of the guests even wanted to take 2 bites and ended up throwing away their slice. We literally had to throw away the entire cake which was $120, extremely overpriced for such poor quality. Absolutely horrific! I’m never going here again.

I love Jungle cafe. The cakes and drinks are fantastic. I particularly like the latte and desserts. The line is always long on the weekends but theyre efficient and its worth the wait. However, it can be hard to find a seat. If you cant find a parking spot, they have reserve parking in the front of the store for the customers. Would recommend coming during off peak hours (i.e. not on the weekend).This place is crowd but very delicious. The workers are very nice. The quality of desserts is top notch.

The staff are vile. Store was empty when I walked in with some hipster hot on my heels. The two staff both flocked to the hipster and completely ignored me. Maybe because I don’t spend my money on the latest fashion so they thought I wasn’t going to spend much in their store? Who knows.I do know that I had enough time to look over every cake in the case and stand around for a while at the register long enough for me to lose patience and actually interrupt the three of them to ask for assistance. When I asked about the ingredients/flavors of the cakes I was trying to decide between, the one staff directed me to a dirty tablet that took so long to load a single page you’d think it’s RAM was measured in KB... it was still responded faster than the staff initially. After that she went back to hipster. Had to interrupt them again because it froze after finding what was in just one cake. So I had to trouble the staff to actually assist me by telling me what was in three different cakes.The irony here is that hipster bought a single serve dessert and I spent 10x as much. Who was a better investment? I dunno how often he comes. Not that often because he was asking them the same things I was but about different products.Not sure why it takes two girls to help one guy. Not sure why I was such a bother to help. I lost patience not my temper. Just because I was disrespected doesn’t give me any authority to disrespect.All that being said, the chestnut cake was exquisite. The price point was pretty good. Expect to pay $5 more than you would at 99Ranch for a similar cake. Was it so good that I would return?? Maybe if they were only half as rude it would get me to overlook it. But I can go to six ping in the same shopping center, save a few dollars, and use the savings to tip their staff for being so polite and helpful even while managing long lines.I really wanted to like this bakery. I gave them 3 tries each worse than the one before. That was my final straw.

WOW! I will go out on a limb and state that you will struggle to find better tasting and looking pastries and cakes anywhere! I have a sweet tooth and know a thing or two about great cakes, and boy do Jungle Café & Bakery excel at making them. The frosting on their cakes are absolutely YUM! Their pastries aren’t too bad either, and their chocolate cakes are special. I always order cakes for birthdays and parties from them, and their quality is always amazingly consistent.

My mom had bought a Hello Kitty cake for my birthday. She said there was no option for what size the cake was and no option for what flavor (filling) for the cake either. We received it, it looked nice, but it was pretty small. The lady she had spoken with said that the cake was 6 inches with chocolate mousse filling and could serve 6. The outside of the cake wasnt even made of cake (a good 1 cm covering of the hello kitty face part), maybe another 1 cm of actual cake, strawberry or some kind of red berry filling, and then chocolate mousse with nuts. We werent informed of this filling other than chocolate mousse. I really do not like berry flavored desserts with chocolate flavored desserts mixed together. The cake was really difficult to cut and serve as well. All in all, a really disappointing birthday cake. Worst experience Ive had with cakes in general. My mom decided to come here because she liked the other kinds she had bought before, but it looks like we arent coming here anymore for those specialty ones for sure. There are other bakeries within the 5 mile radius far better (who also make character cakes!) than Jungle.

Words cannot describe how great this place is. I have been a regular customer here for the last 6 months and they have some of the nicest, most delicious pastries that I have ever tasted. The staff is always so nice and cheerful; you would fall in love with this place. Highly recommended.

If you are looking for delicious pastries and cakes, then you must give Jungle Café & bakery a shot! They never disappoint and have a very easy and efficient system for ordering special cakes. They are very good bakers and always follow your instructions to the letter. I have never been disappointed by the quality of their cakes, the texture, the decorations, and the flavorings are all as promised! I will definitely recommend them to all my relatives and friends.

We have been buying birthday cakes from them for over 15 years. Their cakes are European style, which is not too sweet, and they use real cream! There a lots of varieties and they taste fantastic!

Jungle cafe has lots of unique designs but a simple cake is what I wanted. Since I live out of state, I ordered my cake over the phone by giving the receptionist what I wanted in the cake - lots of black berries ! My friend who lives in Houston LOVES the surprise and the cake ! She told me it was elegant and delicious!Another mutual friend of ours ordered the same cake the following month based on the pic taken. Came down here about a week ago with a couple of friends and throughly enjoyed myself. We ordered a few cups of coffees along with their beautiful cakes and sat by the floor to ceiling windows. Extremely Rude Staff I Went To Get A Cake Designed For My Sons 1st Birthday And I Was Definitely Willing To Pay The Price But The Staff Was Very Rude And I Called The Day Before And Was Told I Would Be Able To Speak To A Manager Because Ive Never Tried A Cake From Here So I Requested A Cake Test Because No One Would Spend Over $200 Bucks For A Product They Havent Tested And The Manager Would Not Come Out And I Was Specifically Told To Come In Between 10am And 3pm Because Thats When The Manager Would Be Available To Speak With Me On Cake Testing And Designing. Pretty Cakes, Not Sure Of Taste, But Extremely Rude Staff.

I went to this bakery yesterday for the first time to get a cake for my daughter’s birthday. Really impressed by the wide selection on display and the staff was very helpful. I wanted a fresh cream cake and bought one that looked really nice. It was even more delicious than it looked. Would try them again.

Cakes are light, airy and yummy. We love black forrest and mango mousse cake. They have perfect amount of sweetness in cake and frosting. Cakes are so addictive that you will keep eating slice after slice.

The atmosphere is cold, sterile and uninviting, but their desserts are phenomenal. Their cakes are spongy and mouses are fluffy and flavorful. The drinks are ok but its their unique and beautiful desserts that make them special.

If you are a customer like me who is looking for great customer service, forget about that you will never receive that here. I agree with Alex Lee it is a HUGE RED FLAG when their employee discredits the customer AND when the matter is taken to the owner he sides with his employees, failing to show sympathy and understanding. . Seriously, what kind of customer service is that if you cant satisfy your customer? Have you never heard of the term, the customer is always right?And as the owner, all you have to do when customers are not happy with the products they receive is to show sympathy and agree with them, most importantly APOLOGIZE!!! You DO NOT side with your employees and put the blame on your customer, and make them feel confused about who handled their services at the first place. Quit giving excuses to make your business look excellent, by no means should you be putting the blame on the customer. That is extremely unprofessional and ridiculously rude. No one deserves service as such. That is not customer service. That is something else. Complete Cockiness. The bottom line: Jungle Cafe does not know how to properly run a business.

This cafe was the rudest and by far the worst cafe i have ever gone to. everyone was so rude and did not even listen to me. the cashier could not care less about anything i was doing and he always came with bad service. while they overprice everything, their food does not taste good at all! their milk tea tastes nothing like milk tea, their coffee has a weird aftertaste, and their cake is overall bland. i strongly recommend my viewers to never come here and rate them the one stars they deserve.

Got my 17th birthday cake from here. It was Strawberry shortcake and I loved it. It tasted so fresh and sweet. I was kind of surprised at all the one star ratings on Yelp. I thought they did great. Maybe just bad experiences?

Every year I pickup my birthday cake from here because of how great they taste and how pretty they are. They have plenty of pre-done designs for the day and lots of unique flavors to choose from. Their pastries are elegant, tasty, and melt in your mouth in the best way. Great stop for an afternoon tea or coffee with a slice of cake or chocolate!

I love this Bakery. The Decor is modern and chique with lovely black fake leather seats and translucent tables. Their flower arrangements are beautiful and vivid. Not to mention how fluffy and beautifully decorated their cakes are. A great place to relax at after work.

Cake is not safe. Dont buy. Terrible service. They claimed that they are highly qualified by food health department. But actually, food inspector only tests temperature of cakes, but not sampling the cake to check any toxin or bacteria/parasite contamination in it. I sampled the cake and found bacteria contamination, but they passed the buck to customer not keeping cakes in low temperature. SO SICK~

Always amazing! Always delicious and unique! I love the Coffee Raspberry cake and dark chocolate mousse. Strawberry Shortcake is so yummy and Cassis mousse is great too! Ive tried almost everything there and everything has always been yummy!!! Way better and more unique than most dessert places in Houston, hands down.Some might consider the prices to be high, but they are no higher than anywhere else I have found for handcrafted one-of-a-kind desserts and for the quality. Also considering that many of the ingredients (for example: the chocolates) are shipped over from France.

Fantastic. We got Tiramisu. I love when something so simple made with quality ingredients comes together. The Tiramisu are great, but, would be nothing with out that killer cake! Wife got the Plasir, very rich chocolate but not sweet.

We have been buying at least 4 birthday cakes every year for about 3 years and have been buying from the bakery for about 10 years until one of the staff with glasses treated us in a very unprofessional ways. We ordered a quarter sheet cake with a cracked macaron. I asked the lady whether she could just replace it and she told us the only choice we had was leaving without their cake. I asked to speak with the owner and was told that the owner made the policy and would be on her side.

We had been searching for a bakery that would fulfill our request (at a reasonable price) for a magnificent fondant curtain wedding cake, which would have separate themes for every tier. That scared off many well-known and famous bakeries, who quoted extreme prices or gave us unreasonable timelines. However, the Jungle Café & Bakery was magnificent, and met our expectations brilliantly. The cake was super delicious, and looked like a complete picture. They are the best.

I ordered the cake by phone with my name, phone number and credit card info yesterday. However, when I went to the shop to pick up, the cake was gone. The staff claimed the cake has been picked up by myself. Finally we found out the staff didn’t properly ask the person’s information and assumed that person was me. It is totally unacceptable. The staff said they can make the same cake for tomorrow. But that day was my daughter’s birthday and all family members were waiting at the home for the celebration. I was forced to buy another cake with higher price. Overall I felt very disappointed because it ruined my daughter’s birthday.

Food-not memorable.Service- bought coffee and cake, asked for hot water as I was not feeling well. Was told hot water can be bought at the price of a drink...asked if I could speak to anyone, the waiter said no and walked away...not sure what else to say.

Costumer service needs to bo more faster

I have never seen such a bullying bakery store. They sell paper plates at 4 dollars for 10 pieces and they never take returns. When I return the paper plates that I never used, the cashier told me that they do not know what I did with the plates so they do not take returns. Then they told me that everything in the store is on final sale so customer cannot return anything and I should respect the store rules. I am speechless with their attitude.

The shop has a beautiful aesthetic thats noticeable as soon as you walk in. Cake designs were extremely creative and captivating and the taste was even better. Definitely a go-to when it comes to sweets.

This bakery has the lightest freshest tiramisu

The desserts are just decadent! Their Tiramisu is light and delectable. Best Ive had so far among numerous places. We also tried their Creme Brûlée cheesecake and white chocolate lemon cheesecake. We originally came for Black Forest but they had no more single servings, but we will be back for that. As per prior reviews, service was not that great and they were rather slow. However, the desserts are just that good and worth coming back.

Not about the price, I can afford the cake, but I can’t tolerate imperfection.On the $40 cake, there is a macaron had a wet spot, it looks Very ugly on the cake, it made the whole cake looks like a leftover. I was told there is no replacement for that macaron, I have to pay extra $9.45 to buy a preboxed macaron in order to replace that single one. They priced an damaged cake on a premium level. Such a damage! I have been buying bday cake from this store since 2007. And about the macaron, they didn’t made it, they bought it from supermarket, then tripled the price. I have tried every macaron in Houston from any bakery store, any market, even baking class.Do you think I will be back to here?

Will never buy another cake from them again. Called and asked for a custom cake. They charged me 95 dollers for a black forest cake that they added a unicorn horn decoration on top and called it custom. I have bought many of their cakes in the past and gladly paid the price, but this is nothing close to what was described on the phone. Called them rhe next day and they said that the cake was custom and i got what i paid for. Horrible

I have been there couple of times and the customer service is a horrible experience. I spent almost $50.00 each time. Today I asked for a cup of water for my three year old daughter and they said they didnt have tap water. I have to buy a bottle of water for $2.50. The girl was rude and said the manager was not there. I wanted to let him know the water was for my baby and I also was a customer and the customer not matter what is right if you want your business to be successful. I am not going back and I wish there is a way to complaint in public about the water issue.

This is the best place for meeting and party desserts or cakes in Houston. My colleaque recommended this place, so I made sure to stop by and pick up some cakes before my meeting with a new customer in Willowbrook. As soon as I walked in the meeting room, everyone recognized the cake boxes and was surprised that I was able to find this place since Im from Souterhn California. I was told by one of my counterparts that JungleCafe has been around for more then 20 years or something so its pretty well known in the area. I received thank you emails from my counterparts after the meeting. Every since then, Jungle Cafe is a must stop whenever I visit my customer in Houston. The store manager, Angela, has been very helpful and always makes sure the cakes are ready for pick up before I arrive. She even tags a card with both company and my names on the cake box without me asking for it so my customer knows its from me. I can tell theyre very detailed and thoughtful just from the little extra things they do for me. Highly recommend this place.

Also glad I didnt, my brother purchased a black forest cake in small portion, he was FOOD SICK for the whole week after eating it!! Service is terrible. I picked a customizable cake from their online catalog and asked for the price. The barista kept saying he didnt know and that it depended on the cake. I pointed to the specific cake and asked how much is that cake in 8 inches. He just kept repeating that he didnt know and that it depended on the cake. I didnt know how much more specific I could make it. When he said that Id have to pre-order it and pay the full price beforehand, I asked how much would I pay today and he still said he didnt know! He called an older, bewildered-looking Asian lady from the back who rudely told me to go look at the cakes on display. I ended up going to the wonderful bakery next door and proceeded to order my boyfriends cake. What a way to lose business, Jungle Cafe.
