Had a lovely experience here. The staff are super warm and welcoming, and great this location as a home. Though when I arrived, there were very few options on what to order (it was primarily dessert but I was hoping for a croissant or pain au chocolat). So we ended up ordering a slice of rhapsody cake and moka rum cake. The cakes buttercream was hardened from sitting in the fridge for so long, and it was extremely sweet. To the point where the flavor was masked by the sugar. Overall, the bakery is delightful!

Stopped by to look for something King Cake-related for Mardi Gras time. They had full-size King Cakes but those are too big for 2 people so I am glad they also had the small Mardi Gras rolls, and we got one of those. Also got a Valentines Day cupcake. Interior was pleasant and inviting. Staffers were courteous and helpful. There were many tempting sweets and also nice looking bread. Very glad to have stopped by.

Had to get a cake from the case because they need a longer notice for any design beyond basic writing. The cake was multilayered with real buttercream icing. It needs to be refrigerated then set out to warm to room temp an hour before serving. It was the best $42 Ive ever spent on cake.

Very poor visit 2 weeks ago and will not come back.Attendant did not know ingredients of different items, which surprised me for a supposed top of the line bakery. I asked if a good looking almond roll had almond paste inside. She said yes so I ordered one, but back home there was no almond paste inside at all. At least he pecan Danish was quite good

I love this place. Its so homey and has a very relaxed atmosphere!Pros- lunch special is awesome! You get a salad, half a sandwich, dessert, coffee or tea, and soup for $10!- self serve station for drinks and utensils- spacious seating- offer a variety of baked goods (pie, cookies, sweet bread)- service is quick and efficientCons- parking lot is a bit small so it can get tough if its busy that hour- no servers so you wont get any attention from the staff. If you need something you need to get up yourself and ask for it- pastries by itself can be a bit priceyIts a pretty basic bakery. You wont find intricate desserts with fancy designs, but the down to earth ambience of the place makes it super comfy!

It seems like this place cuts corners. The chocolate croissant and almond croissant I tried both had a very bready texture--i expected the chocolate croissant to be flaky and for the almond one to be chewy like those items typically are, but they did not deliver. We also tried an eclair and it tasted a lot like a boston creme pie doughnut, so okay but again not what I was expecting. It did not resemble pate a choux. The filling was like doughnut filling as well, not like whipped cream/pastry cream/chantilly cream or something you might normally find in an eclair

One of my favorite little, family-owned French bakeries in the Houston area! The quality of their food and deserts are consistently great and authentic. Plus, they have a little waiting area within the main lobby where anyone can sit down and enjoy their delicious selections! An amazing little place that deserves more business than it is currently getting!!

Good Day! I have been going to theFrench Gourmet Bakeryever since they once had a location on Memorial Drive inLantern Lane Center.ThisMemorial location served a lunch special daily as well as bakery goods. The lunch served was a delightful mix of varied choices. The bakery products for as long as I have been going seem to ALL have a unidentified ingredient...a mystery ingredientthat has ALWAYS disagreed with my stomach. It is also available and included at the location on Westheimer in this locations bakery products.Every time I purchase a bakery item from cookies to cakes to pecan and cinnamon rolls/bread it is in everything waiting to upset my stomach! Whatever thismystery ingredientis that is being added to what appears to nearly everything I would strongly advise everyone to avoid this bakery and their made bakery items.I seldom have digestive issues but,French Gourmet Bakeryevery time I consume their bakery products my stomach is upset! It is CRAZY! There are so many fine bakery options and locations across Houston to obtain lovely bakery items, cakes, cookies, etc.that do NOT posses thismystery ingredientwaiting to make you ill.Who wants to have a special occasion ruined and leave you with wondering...what happened...what made me feel this sickly? Another aspect ofFrench Gourmet Bakeryis how overpriced every item is to purchase! I made the mistake of getting 1-Eclair.It WAS $5.00!!! CRAZY!!! A apple pieis$24.95! I am a BIG lover of bakeries but,for safety and peace of mind as well as wanting children and the elderly healthy please avoidFrench Gourmet Bakery!

I picked up their strawberry baubache cake and its a layer cake that fell apart on the secound slice that we cut. Dont order the cake. It was for fathers day and it was the last thing we ate so everyone left with the bad taste in their mouth. We ate the cake all in tiny pieces and it was not that good either. The strawberry jam tasted like it was from a can and the cream on it had no flavor. Then after looki g at the receipt they charge $3.00 for writing something on the cake. They dont tell you soooo.
