So gave this 5 stars because I stayed almost 2 hours. From the 3 dollar beers, to the array of food selection, to the pristine bathrooms!!! Not sure if I was more impressed by the bathrooms or just the friendliest food servers I was met with. Definitely must visit when on the island. If this review was helpful, please follow and like me! This place reminded me of the restaurant floor of a Japanese department store (which gives it authenticity points). The $1 beers with any $10 purchase was definitely the highlight. The food itself is honestly nothing special and a bit overpriced, mostly packaged in take out containers. There was a decent selection of entrees and desserts, though. It seems like a great place to get some food and drinks with friends.
Great deal with dollar beer. Food need to improve to go with the beer... We noticed a declined quality of food since 2017. My favorites are the buns, my kids favorite is the Hello Kitty cakes from the bakery. I personally like the crepes without too much of the cream. I remembered there were skewers that you would find in chizakaya in 2017, but cant find them now.
This is a bustling food marketplace that gives you an immersive Japanese cuisine experience with so many options, including tepanyaki, sashimi, sushi, tempura, ramen, udon, musubi, poke, okinomiyaki, gyoza, and more. Prices are reasonable, especially their beer which we did not have but we saw many people enjoy them. We went back a few times and could have gone back many times more!
How can ypu skip this place when in Honolulu. Located inside Ala Moana, this japanese food village is a must to go. Theres a bit of ramen collections which many of them are really good and not to forget the $1 beer... So many other things to try too from softserve, okonomiyaki, japanese curry, and more. Soo oishi!!!
I just read on the news that the company who owns this village walk and Ala Moana corp is suing each other for unpaid rent and this place is not coming back.On the other hand, when this place was open, it was GREAT!
Shirokiya sure has changed since I lived in Hawaii, but I’m not complaining. This village walk is amazing. There are ... I don’t even know ... a hundred restaurants waiting to take your order and serve you ono food! I’m not exaggerating. There are so many little spots in there, you can get just about anything. Oh! There’s a bar too.So, I got a kalua pork plate at one place, cheese fries/potatoes to share at another. Later we found andagi at one of the places. Oh and the lemonade stand was yum! Li hing lemonade so good. The bakery on the edge of the village had some amazing things (and shave ice).Strangely, my most favorite part was the stationery part with all the stationery of my youth and more from Japan all available for purchase $$$$.Can’t wait to go back.
I found this cheap food court by chance! it’s in the first floor of Ala Moana mall. This place is packed during peak hours due to its cheap-priced snack foods.Even though all vendors have the “famous “ Japanese brand-names, the actual cooks are mostly non-Japanese. the dollar beer is a big attraction too!
Love the diversity of food, drinks, and little games (in the back)! Seems like there are a lot of businesses that come and go, but this gives opportunities for businesses to flourish and get some air-time. I love the ramen places and the beer garden - amazing. Wish theyd make the music softer sometimes because its loud enough and it makes it harder to hear each other talk.
Cheap beers ($1 promos, $2 Heineken, etc.), great quality food, and alot of choices on food. Be sure to take a quick lap around to see all the different vendors before choosing what to eat. Dont forget about the couple of dessert spots which are amazing. The line for the beer can get long but it moves quick. This has a street style feel to it but with the comfort of A/C and shade. This is a definite must visit as the beer is cheap, the food is reasonable, and the quality is excellent.
I dont remember exactly which vendor I went to, however all the vendors in shirokiya are really good. Huge variety of food and sweets to choose from and lots of tables to sit and eat.
Went to the gourmet plaza Japan food court and got the beef filet steak for 18 buck and it was a big mistake. Worst steak Ive ever paid for and it was super small and tasted horrible. Do not get this at all cost!!!!
Good and fair prices. Clean atmosphere and great selection of Ramen and Bentos. Kid friendly and right in the mall. Good for kids and adults alike.
Lots of food stalls and food choices to pick from. If your purchase is more than $10, you will get a coupon that you can redeem towards $1 beer or a discount at select stalls. Affordable prices and good quality foods.
Good environment, typical Japanese. You can try most of the Japanese street food here. They even have live music. Heard about $1 beer glass but never got that. Takoyaki made up of octopus was really tasty.
Lots of fun. Tons of restaurants and ample seats. The gacha pon machines are very cute as well.
Lots of food stalls! Many Oriental, but also bakeries, crepes, local foods. Lots of tables and seating, a very nice bathroom. Prices can be a bit high for fancy stuff, but can still find good, moderate priced food also. Parking on that end of the mall can be tight, but theres more around the corner or upstairs. Along the beach side there is a Japan Quality shop where you can get stationary and pens, popular toys and anime themed items, and the old Shirokiya staple holiday gift, Yoku Moku cookies. Fun!
If we had a place like this in Seattle, I would be the fattest person you know. Its a food court like area with so many shops that I got confused where I was multiple times. Theres something for everyone and even though some things might be a little pricier, its definitely worth it. My husband had some black garlic tonkatsu ramen, and I had a veggie tempura bowl, both amazing and reminded us of japan itself. We also tried some malasadas, which looked and tasted astounding, and some classic japanese side dishes which reminded me of what my own japanese grandmother used to make. I would be here every night for dinner if i could.
Shirokiya offers a variety of different food options. It’s always fun to see new shops opening whenever we visit. I’d say 4/5 times we’ve tried new food it was good. They’ve opened up a gachapon area at the back, but the prizes aren’t amazing. It can be overwhelming the first time you experience it, but take your time to look at all the different food/drinks they offer!
The last time I visited Shirokiya, it was still in the old location and I feel like there were more options to choose from. At this location, it seems like its all ramen/udon spots, and expensive ones at that. I was originally excited to check this place out because I wanted to try a little bit of everything. I was pretty bummed to see that there wasnt that much of a variety. We ended up getting some black garlic spicy miso ramen ($18) somewhere. The first few bites were good but as we ate more, it tasted like it was getting saltier and saltier. We also tried a musubi from the musubi spot. It was good but not really worth the $3, in my opinion. My BF said he liked the musubis from 7-Eleven better. The only thing good about this place is the $1 beer (or $5 Primo pitchers). Id say - grab a beer here but go get food elsewhere. The quality is not worth the price tag.
Beef sukiyaki for $18. A lot Japanese ordered this. The taste is good.
This place is amazing. I absolutely look the look of it 😍As soon as we got there, we played the gacha thing they had, and I have to admit, I got a little out of hand with it lol! Just the suspense of not knowing how much each ticket inside the capsule was gonna be worth. So you buy a token (which is $5 each), and choose a machine you want to use it on. The tickets can range from 5-100. After youre done, you can go back to redeem them at the counter you bought the tokens from. There is a huge variety of prizes you can trade for, too bad I didnt get any pictures though. There are also some food shops and the stationary store that you can spend your tokens at, which is great! We ended up going to the Gourmet Plaza Japan (if thats what its called) to get an early dinner. Food was good. Only thing docking it it from 5* to 4* is that some of the workers (where we ordered our food from) were making it a bit uncomfortable to be around; acting very unpleasant, especially since they were in work attire, whether they were on the clock or not. So we just ate and moved on to a different spot. Ended up at Marion Crepes for dessert, and yum! But too much azuki beans in mine for my taste.ALSO! On Sundays, kids 12 and under get a free token to use on the kiddie machines, which I think is really great ^_^
I came down for some ramen. I had a really good time. Lots of sweets too. There are so many choices here.
As someone who lived a year in Japan, I was pleasantly surprised with the variety of restaurants at Shirokiya Japan Village Walk. It was all there : ramen, udon, curry, okonomiyaki, sushi, sukiyaki, all of it!With suspended lanterns and sakura flowers, the dining area is super cute and enjoyable, making it quite the experience. I wish I could have spent at least one day, shopping, eating, then shopping again, and eating again.. :)
Always love the place for Japanese oriented food. There is a Mexican and pizza place in the plaza. Great place for Ramen and other food. $1 beer? HECK YES!!!!
Sooo many choices and varieties of food! Hard to choose one. Best if you have a friend to share dishes with, so that you can try more!Marion crepes both savory and sweet were delicious. Very popular chain in Japan.Yoshida Meats has nice variety of katsu...I ordered one of everything :) The croquette is actually mashed potatoes with ground pork...yum! Minced beef and pork katsu has onions, very flavorful. Chicken karaage was very tender. Pork and chicken katsu are pretty standard. Decently priced.Lastly, there was a Korean combo of meats with kimchi and rice.
Many very tasty Japanese culinary options that are priced in the $10-$14 for ramen or curry katsu. 100% recommend visiting this part of the Ala Moana shopping center.
Visited the village walk today and tried a new food spot that opened up called Bonzai Phresh. Definitely stop by this place for savory and delicious meats, as well as sweet and delish mini pancakes. I recommend the pork belly skewers with fried rice, or even the brisket...it is bomb! I also reccomend their Japanese inspired mini pancakes with ice cream..so good! They just opened up today, and are the most unique restaurant in the village walk. If you love BBQ definitely hit this place up. If you love desserts, especially pancakes, you wont be disappointed.
What an amazing adventure it was trying Shirokiya Japanese Village Walk! It made me relieve my visit to Japan all over again! There, you can find takoyakis, udon noodles, tempura, ramen, Japanese beers, and the best Japanese desserts one can hope for. Shirokiya also has Japanese stationary stores that sells Japanese pencil cases, pens, etc. Shirokiya is located on the very first level of the Ala Moana Center, right across from Foodland - access through Piikoi Street. Definitely making that a part of your visit to Oahu.
Amazing experience of ramen and tako Yano!
This was the best part of our trip honestly. All the eateries located under all the shopping was delightful. If I craved a different type of food every day, I could come here for a month straight. My husband would lose me every few feet because my eyes wander to a different shop or bakery or display. And there was a dollar beer special!
It’s a beautiful place to have the Japanese feel, lots of difference cuisines rooted from Asia mostly . Sweet tooth ? Try the crepe with ice cream and brownie . The ramen noodles soup is also great. Usually busy and a nice Japanese interior decor
What can I say? Huge place with many options from Japan. Its a must see for yourself. Takoyaki and okonomiyaki is delicious. Wish I got other good but not sure what to get since its so vast. Seating was a bit hard to find, but what do you expect for a Friday night.
Cheap beer, decent food. Try the curry and udon.
Its an amazing place, rich taste everywhere
I love this place! Where else can you get the best Japanese food all under one roof. You can get rice dishes, ramen, udon, desserts and more. Its like a foodies heaven once you walk in. I tell everyone who visits to come by here for sure!!!!!
Tried their new ono fries place. I’m sure it would’ve been better if I ate it at the place but I took it home. So all the fries and wings got a little soggyUpdate: this time I tried their beef Katsu on the north side wall where they occupy just about the whole side. The batter was this. The meat had no flavor, it was rare not medium rare. The cashier recommended us to do the gatcha token not realizing you can’t mix and max payments. All 4 of us bought the tokens and we all didn’t get any luck. One of us decided keeping the token and paying by cash instead because of the hassle
Amazing variety of food selections. Different smells of delicious foods..and dont for get dessert. Crepe delights.. Enclosed my food I ate that day! This was 12.99 came with bowl rice and pickled cucumbers.😋
Are you a Japanese food fan? This food court will knock your socks off!The place is kind of hard to find, as the main and only entrance is in the garage. Why isn’t it linked to the mall?Anyways, there are a very large number of shops, and each has their own specialty. Rice plates, sushi, bento boxes, ramen, desserts, fruit drinks, alcohol, wagyu beef, the list goes on and on. We probably spent 15 minutes just walking and browsing all the shops before deciding on what to eat.On a Saturday afternoon, there were live entertainment from 2 Japanese singer/musicians.
I love this place! They have so many options. Great atmosphere. Sometimes they have live entertainment. I can always find my favorite dish and all the other staples... 🥢 Katsu don 👍
What a great place! Authentic Japanese restaurants, come hungry! Take your time around!
I dont know how somebody claimed to review this place 3 months ago... they have been closed since March 2020 and havent re-opened since.i give them 1-star for saying through local news stations that they would be re-opening on April 15... that came and went... with no notice of their change in plans announced until we got to their door. when i contacted mall management, they said shirokiya did not notify them of the decision to continue remaining closed.
Very diverse. Lots of food choices. I have not had a bad meal here yet.
The food court is constantly changing. I didnt want to eat too much since it was so close to dinner. So instead of food, I decided to get dessert. Ice cream to be more specific. Charmy is one of the newer stalls. they have only two types of ice cream, vanilla and pineapple. All the toppings are chocolate or cookies. I decided to go big and get the $17 cone. Was it worth the $17? Probably not. BUT in terms of cuteness it was worth it. if not for the photo opt alone.the nice thing is you can start off with a plain cone and then add toppings to personalize it just for you. it was super fun and the icecream was pretty good.
The word overwhelmed I think is an understatement for anyone walking into this place, especially if its your first time. The Village Walk is pretty much always crowded (maybe because I tend to go on the weekends), and for anyone that is indecisive or suffers from food-epilepsy, this place might not be for you lol.Two steps past the doorway, you are immediately inundated with a myriad of food choices thats enough to trigger anyones social anxiety. My recommendation is not to come here when youre about to keel over, but have enough energy to explore the maze of food vendors because youre going to need it! The first time, I think I probably walked around the place about 5 times before I finally made up my mind on what to eat. Now, I always go back to the same Beefy Ramen place not only because their ramen is good but also because Im a creature of habit. The aesthetics and beauty of the place do help make up for some of its overwhelming features. Being a person with a penchant for Japanese culture, the lanterns and cherry blossom decor hanging from the ceiling immediately caught my eye. The live music, japanese toy capsules and tokens, and the $1 beer specials also make this spot a treat to come to. I havent had a chance to try a majority of the food spots in here, but best believe I will make it my mission to become well versed in more of the vendors at this location.
What an eating experience. So many choices. Food, snacks, goodies and souvenirs. Food was so delicious. Lots of great products and great eats. Prices are so reasonable...even for the young ones. Also gacha world is coming soon...
Wide variety of yummy Japanese food. Not too crowded and people Gere are friendly.
Great variety of food items. Mainly Japanese food: ramen, udon, musubi, tempura, okonomiyaki, takoyaki, curry. Amazing prices on beer, $2 for Bud Light, $3 for Kirin.
You have to visit this place if youre a fan of Ramen. I found there the best one Ive ever tried (I dont remember the name but the one with garlic broth)
Big place but menus are pretty same. Hope they will have more variety foods.
So much amazing food. Love this place
So many authentic Japanese food stalls! Theres a lady in the back who makes delicious onigiri! I love it! I always get the mentaiko onigiri. Its sooo good! I also got chashu ramen from a Ono-Ya. That was really really tasty! We ordered a meal set that came with katsu kare. Loved it! Delicious!!! And such a good deal! That freshly fry the katsu and its crisp and hot. Best meal deal there! You gotta try it!
A great selection of authentic Japanese foods
Fantastic place for authentic Japanese dishes in a faux Japanese village setting. Choose from dozens of specialty stalls for ramen, udon, beer, gyoza, bento boxes, Japanese crepes, beer, takoyaki, sushi, sashimi, and did I mention beer? Perfect place to hang out with friends and family. Hmmm, maybe not the kids, though. Unless they like Japanese food, then yes, bring the kids, too.
This is a must for anyone who loves Japanese food a d culture.
Food court and dollar beers! Lots of great places & ono desserts!Definitely a must to check out!
So many options. You could literally get everything here.Ramen. Takoyaki. For the sweet tooth, they have crape rolled ice cream.
Amazing place to visit and best Ramen. Go to Manichi!
So you are visiting Hawaii And you want to see how some of the locals eat. You’ve got to visit this place. You’ll be exposed to a lot of wonderful food, great beer, and a fantastic atmosphere. It’s also extremely well priced. Trust me, I live here and you can’t find food for this price in many places. So after you’re done shopping at the mall, check out Shirokiya for a bite to eat!
I enjoyed the cheese takoyaki and the chocolate fountains. I cannot get enough of Shirikiyas Japan Villiage
Fun and super clean food court. Also found a great store with toy car models.
This place is located on the bottom floor, all the way at one end of the mall. It wasnt that difficult to find seating for three people, especially if you walk around a bit deeper through the food court. However, it is still quite crowded around dinner time. There were a lot of options for food - ramen, curry, rice, sushi, etc. A couple of spots are more popular than others, and you can expect to wait at least 10-15 minutes for your food at the popular places. The crepe place, located close to the entrance of the food court, is especially popular, and the wait time is quite long - however, the crepes were delicious! We got the acai one. The items in the food court seem to hover around the $10 range, depending on what you get. There are also a few bakeries and little shops that you can shop around at, and yes, there are $1 beers.Overall, this is a good place to get some Asian food (its good, but its not gourmet). However, the service is not that fast, so if youre in a rush, this is probably not a good place to go to. Also, the Wi-Fi wasnt working when I was there.
Never been to anywhere like this awesome food mall.. wishing I had one at home! Everything looked amazing. It was so hard to choose just a couple things.
Awesome food. AN ABSOLUTE MUST FOR TOURISTS! Great choice of foods! Beer is cheap! And there is gachapon!
This is a must visit eating spot in Honolulu. Located in the Al Moana mall. There are lotta shops here, maybe 25 to 30. Mostly food. The food is from all Asian countries, like Japan, Korea etc. There are places to sit there and live music playing. The fried squid on mini skewers was my favorite here. Fried spicy crisp Korean chicken was also good. The crepe ice cream was mediocre and a little expensive for what it was. This is located in a fancy mall. It’s clean and has clean restrooms. The bus boys come around and clear your table, regardless of where you purchased food.We went on a Friday night and it was pretty busy. Plan on 5 to 10 min to find a table.Parking is in the attached parking garage and it was free.
I love the place... as soon as i step inside.. i cant help but smile:) surely be back in here!
Best ramen! Ono-ya Ramen!
An expansive food court featuring Japanese food. Udon, ramen, sushi, and other tasty Japanese dishes are offered here in a design that is a homage to old Kyoto (in Japan). There is a beer garden here. Recommended!
For sure one of the best Asian spots on the islands. 40+ food stalls. All great!
Many choices. A lot of ramen and don shops!
Worth every star just for having $2 pints on an island where nothing costs less than $50k and a substantial selection of Japanese food all in the same place. Ramen, gyoza, musubi, yakisoba, curry all right there. For sure a good spot to meet up with friends.
Love this place. I can eat here everyday.
This food court is under the ala Moana center. Theres a variety of Asian food choices at pretty good price levels. Had sushi, ramen, bubble tea here.
Outstanding place to pick numerous combinations of Japanese meals. I ate at Yoshida Meat and it was fantastic. Clean tables and excellent service. The price was low as well. I paid less than $14 with my drink. They have pastry shops throughout the building as well. A must visit place to eat.
This place is definitely an experience in itself if you love Japanese food. There are so many different vendors offering many kinds of different foods. The atmosphere is bustling and immersive and the service is top notch. Highly recommend trying Kamitoku Ramen. Their broth is super flavorful, definitely one of the more memorable food experiences Ive had there.
Loved the walk food was great felt like we were in Japan! Had Yaki Tori and they made in right in front of you plus if you spend. $10 or more you got glass of beer free......
I love this place. If you like Japanese food and cheap beers, this place is amazing. Ive never been disappointed by the food here. I could come here every day for a week.
Kelas Polynesian Revue put on a great performance🤗
Delicious food everywhere!
