Great Atmosphere! Great food, the burger is juicy and has tremendous flavor. Prices are like all of Hawaii, but the food and relaxed atmosphere is well worth it. Sorry no food pictures (too hungry)but we had the bacon burger, the Lassi, Laverne and Shirley and the Magnum. Oh and dont forget the dessert, we had the King Kong Banana split and an Adult Milkshake.
Want good old fashion Diner food, this is a fine place for that. We ordered a thick chocolate shake, chili cheese dog w/onions, onion rings & BBQ pork sandwich with fries 👍👍 Excellent service, easy social distancing dine in seating. I Love the nostalgic videos that play old music and TV shows. They also sell memorabilia. This is a walk up diner. No direct parking. Plenty of locals taking home orders.
Coke themed classic diner combined with a memorabilia. Personable staff and reasonable prices for Waikiki. Tatertot Nachos were great. Highly recommend for mid afternoon snack or relaxed lunch.
This place is INCREDIBLE! It was so good, we came on two different days for dinner. This themed diner is super entertaining. The servers are friendly and accommodating. The food is fantastic. Get the fries! This was probably the best food we had during our whole week-long trip, and we ate at restaurants costing much more! So good!
Step back in time and enjoy the extreme memorabilia! If You love Rock, the 50s 60s 70s & 80s this place is AWESOME! Come for the fun and enjoy the reasonably priced food. Skip the lines in Waikiki and slip into the Vintage Dream of simpler times. This place is a gem hiding in plain view. Id give it 10 stars if I could. For a casual lunch, immaculate diner and Aloha Service it doesnt get any better than this. Not corporate just cool. 😎
Great atmosphere for a restaurant. You walk into a 50/60s themed diner. The diners personality is very warm and inviting. The food was great too! I loved the fun names and hospitality of the staff. Got my order right down to a T! I would recommend if youre looking for a nice sit down restaurant that is niche to the area!
Great food! awesome burger, wings, and brownie fudge sundae!! Def recommend
Drink specials daily, including the $5 Mai Tai. Super fun atmosphere, playing old music videos, and they have a huge selection of vintage finds for sale, Coca-Cola, Elvis memorabilia, comic books, I Love Lucy, old Barbies, Hawaii- 5 0, autographed photos, and just so much more. Great for gift shopping too. You can play pinball on a Wizard of Oz machine, and classic Pac Man and Donkey Kong.
Great 1950-1960 comfort food. I had the chili dog, bacon cheese burger, chili and chocolate milk shake. The fact I ate essentially two full meals in one sitting should tell you the food is good! The watress/owner? was very nice and accommodating as we had a large party of 9. The place was busy but everything came out perfectly!
Staying at the holiday inn express down the street. Walked down. Great food. Great memorabilia. A must stop.
Probably the best diner Ive been to. Its a plus with all the Elvis memorabilia. Would recommend!
How do you mess up grilled cheese? How do you make a flavorless burger where the iceberg lettuce shines? Is it hard to cook a precooked prebreaded frozen cod? All this and more at Rock Island Cafe. Business is booming so much that all the decor is for sale. I’m giving it two stars because I think they just need to rethink the execution of the food for another 10 minutes and it would be worlds better. Fresh meat, frozen cod you batter then fry and hell, maybe even cooking your grilled cheese until you can’t see the Kraft singles layers would have helped. McDonald’s up the street would have been more enjoyable.
Best service in Oahu! Amazing fresh food with lots of options to choose from. Best of all though is the outstanding staff who are always fun and friendly!
Great food fun environment for the whole family
This is an Americana memorabilia gem. Its decor covers all manner of popular television, movie, and pop culture flavors primarily from the 50s - 70s but also beyond on both directions. There is a loop of classic TV theme songs and musical clips from movies (Elvis is featured prominently). Quite entertaining.Happy hour was nice with $5 tropical drinks and $3 drafts. We had an assortment of diner fried classics and they were very good. All in all, a super fun experience!
Had a great dinner here last night. The place is set up like a vintage 50s diner full of elvis memorabilia, old arcade games and other vintage items. Its a great place to eat as you get to look at all the decor whilst you do so. The food is pretty great too, myself and my girlfriend got a milkshake each (as you would in a diner), with a chili cheese dog, a Hula burger and a side of fries for main. The milkshakes are amazing and the bonus was that she made so much, we got the extra so basically a second drink free. The chili dog and burger were great, just found them to be a little in the small side. The fires however were quite large, deffinately able to share between 2. Great experience, great staff/owners, great food. Highly recommend this place.
I love this place! They hung in there during the pandemic, the people who work there are all wonderfully friendly and nice oh, and the hot dogs are great! The fries are pretty durn good too!
I absolutely love this place, been coming here for years! The people working are fabulous and theres so many things to look at. The food is quick and delicious. One of my favorite parts is all the memorabilia that they have all along the walls. Definitely would recommend this place to others especially if you like retro stuff.
Memorabilia was cool, but the food was awful. The red onions tasted stale on my salad, and they only had spring mix and a few tomatoes. No romaine or iceberg lettuce… and only ranch dressing, no other options. Then they ran out of shrimp. Nachos were bad too.Last but not least, we tried the chocolate milkshake, which was not good either.
A great place to stop at to enjoy music, drinks and good food. Fun atmosphere and great staff. Make it a daily stop for mai-tai’s and snack or lunch/dinner. Highly recommend their new fish sandwich, was excellent!
Not as many traditional diner items as others. Not a lot of chicken options. Nachos were good. Pizza was not. The dough was hard and very bread like, the sauce tasted like it was straight from a can and unseasoned and the cheese tasted like plastic. The atmosphere was nice and fun but that was it. Very hard to get to when trying to park your own car. Its a great place for a drink and photo ops but Id rather eat somewhere else
I came here with two other people. Avoid the seafood basket, for $16.99 you receive 3 shrimp and two frozen fish sticks. Then after sitting down with my party, I learned that I was the only one who was asked and promoted on the card reader to leave a tip. Nobody else was asked too. Which seems very strange to me and scammy. Would avoid this place… walk in for the memorabilia which is neat, but do not buy the food.
Ordered a few things ended up spending about $80 for 3 people. The fried mac and cheese was literally just salt. Was so salty i couldnt eat. Ordered the bbq pork nachos with cheese and the chips were actually stale and not edible. The burger was ok the onion rings has a weird taste. Overall pretty upset with how much it was and the quality was bad.
Tasty food at a reasonable price. The pulled pork sandwich was excellent.
Loved this place. Highly recommend it if youre looking for diner type food in Waikiki. The service was also excellent.
Great food. Great 50s atmosphere. We were told the decorations always change because everything you see is for sale. They have happy hour with discounted drinks.
Food was decent for the price. Very old timey
The staff here is absolutely amazing, so friendly, great food, great price. So much to look at, everything is 50 style, and all there collectibles are for sale. Very reasonable. If in Hawaii it’s a must stop
Would you like a side of chicken with that lettuce? This place has great atmosphere however the food is overpriced and unappetizing. A couple bites in and both my wife and I felt sick to our stomaches. In the Ariel fried shrimp sandwich, they left the tails on the shrimp which had this been served to a kid would be a big no-no. Avoid this place for food at all costs, you may purchase their memorabilia but thats also over priced.
Walked into this Cafe and was immediately met with happy and friendly staff. Love the old vintage theme, and food is absolutely delicious. I got the chicken and fries, while my girlfriend got the burger and onion rings. Absolutely worth it!
Pros - The staff was friendly, we enjoyed the old diner style decor, and they have a decent happy hour here until 6PM ($5 Mai Tais!). Covid protocols were followed. Its a quick walk from the Hilton or Hale Koa.Cons - The food left much to be desired, especially for the price. To start, we were given the wrong appetizer (mozzarella sticks instead of mac & cheese bites) which were obviously frozen. The chicken sandwich came with mayo instead of ranch as stated on the menu, and the pulled pork sandwich wasnt great. For very standard, fried, frozen food... Its pricey (especially considering that you have to pay extra to add fries with your sandwich). The counter service concept is a slight inconvenience, and its strange to pay up front & tip before your food arrives.Id skip this restaurant on your vacation, unless youre just in it for the diner-style vibes.
The staff was very friendly and we enjoyed our lunch here. There was a lot of history on the walls and we played trivia pursuit at the table while we waited for our food. There are trivia pursuit cards at every table. Theres a good variety on the menu. You wont be disappointed.
Great fries, over priced food, moody waitress, cute decor.
What an amazing experience!!!! Amazing service and amazing food. Love the atmosphere there. Highly recommend this place.
Great service, nice people but the fish was not worth the money. I wouldnt feed it to my dog. It was dry and burnt. Nope dont waste your money...
Waited patiently for them to open. One sign says 11, the other 1130. 1138 and still nothing. No answer from their phone. Ill spend my money elsewhere, at a place capable of opening on time.
Coolest vintage little diner. Has all sorts of memorabilia. Food was good as well.
Food was pretty bad. Ambiance was cool, though.
Delicious American rock diner food! Fun atmosphere also. The ladies running the show were very friendly and playful with the kids.
Fun place, good prices, great tasting food
Fun little place off the beaten path. Excellent food and the staff was super friendly
Food ok. Over priced. Not good beer. Hot inside restaurant
Food and service excellent. Atmosphere fun with music and TVs showing nostalgic shows from my childhood. My husband was extremely happy with his milkshake. Enjoyed the mai tai.
I do recommend going the food was delicious
It Is A Retro Diner-Museum-Antique Shop. Love It. Great Food And Shakes! Great Happy Hour! Wonderful Employees!
Had their chocolate milkshakes about 6 years ago and my family and I still think about it to this day, can’t wait to go back and have one
Awesome retro themed diner with great burgers
A great local hang out with super vibes and welcoming service. The best fried chicken sandwich and happy hour beer on tap. We make it a point to go weekly and feel like part of the family.
Rock Island is a really cute diner and 50s experience where all the memorabilia decorations are for sale. Good food and great service
Really good Food, and service was Awesome!
Didnt try the food. Went in to buy some memorabilia. DO NOT BUY THE AUTOGRAPHS ! They are photographic copies of originals. What a scam.
Great Elvis Collector items !
Oh my goodness craving burgers and Rock Island Cafe is the place to hit the spot. Fast service and what a great Bacon Cheeseburger. Would of took a picture but it smelt so good I just gobbled it right up. Flo that you so much for the great service. You will see us again for sure. We will be your regulars 🤩
Five stars all around!
Food was over cooked over priced
The shop next door is good to buy gifts
Love this spot! Definitely worth going!
Great service and a smile with that 50s vibe
Love the atmosphere and the folks who work there! (And the entertainment! And the items for sale!)Some of the more esoteric items (like salad?) are so-so, but the Hot Dogs (for one!) are NO KA OI!!!
This is such a cool diner, we didnt find anything else quite like it around waikiki, and would definitely reccomend people to visit this old school decorated place, it is a very pleasing atmosphere, with neon lights all over the place and some arcade games which are still playable. Portion of food is not huge like other restaurants around but is still satisfying.
