Today I purchased a FireWire surfboard design by Rob Machado. Everyone who works there is very knowledgeable about surfboards and are very helpful. They had a great variety of fins, surfboards and apparels. The customer service was outstanding ! Everyone who works there have so much aloha! This is by far the best surf shop on the island!

I ordered a single fin for my “in the pink. Unfortunately, the fin was damaged upon arrival.. i requested a replacement and the guys from the shop sent me a replacement right away and a free surf comb. Best costumer service😁.. thank you guys

First of all I live in Florida got my Julian Wilson tail pad in like 5 days with free shipping that’s crazy by itself. But in the package was a reusable bag which we use and everyone needs to use. That’s not all, I also got a personalized letter from the manager thanking for the business. Got a small sticker to. I wish y’all would of have me a bigger one. Only reason is it’s not big enough to promote your company. Bigger one would of been insane, but just to do what you did is absolutely mind blowing. I bought a fin from these dudes online.Something went wrong with the shipping that was not their fault.When I contacted them, they stayed with me till it was figured out. I live on Kauai and ordered a firewire from Hawaiian South Shore. The board arrived to me with cracked glass towards the nose of the board. It looked like someone with a box cutter got a little aggressive and cracked the glass. I was worried it wasn’t water-tight and called David the next day. They were able to send me another board that was the exact same thing I wanted with just a different fin system. They made the process easy, sent me some fins, and a T-shirt within two days. Now that is turning a frown upside-down. Feel very taken care of. Highly recommend!!

Staff was very helpful and positive. Its located on Ward avenue storefront. I did street parking right out front. Bought some leashes and wax. They have boards, pads, and clothes as well. Will be a repeat customer.

Great online service!!!! Wanted a fin that I could not find at our local surf shops in CA. Hawaiian South Shore had what I was looking for and with the largest selection I could find. Placed my order and I received a shipping notice the same day. Arrived a few days later and was on my board surfing the next day. Will definitely buy from them online again.

This is the surf shop you want to go to. These guys knew the answer to every question I had, they were super friendly and inviting. They even explained to the group I was with the story behind some of the brands and why they carry them in the store, and with how on demand everything is these days it was really cool to see them take that seriously and appreciate their own business.

Just bought a Lib Tech board here. Great experience. David and Bret both took excellent care of me, answered all my questions, and went above and beyond from a service perspective. The shop has great gear at a reasonable price. Love their product knowledge and demo prices. All told, this was a fun board buying experience. The shop is great for people looking to try, but, or pick up cool surf gear.

Outstanding Customer Service! I ordered a quad set of Takayama Halo fins for my board (710 Bin Collector), and Brett and David helped modify my order to get the right size fins, which are a game changer for my surfing. After losing one during a storm, I was able to get a replacement pair within 3 days of reaching out. Both were solid shopping experiences.

I understand these guys sell a lot to Japanese tourists, but theyve always treated me well too. The only person whose name i know is Byron. Hes a good dude. Knowledgeable. he knows I am not in there to buy brand new merricks, but he lets me molest all the boards anyway. Tons of fin and demo board options too. Personally I will only pay for locally made boards, but Ill buy fins and other stuff there no problem.

This place is GREAT! Came here for the Hawaii Eco Divers APNEA Seminar and loved all the gear they have here! I saw a video of one of the surf boards being run over by a truck without a scratch on it after so I know where Ill be going in the future for surf boards. The people here know their stuff and have everything a surfer needs to surf anywhere in Oahu! Ill definitely be coming back here!

These guys are great! I was looking for the new fcs freedom leash, which they were supplying, but because of high demand they were out. I placed an order with them online and they kept great communication with me to let me know when the order would be coming in and when to expect deliver. As soon as the order reached the store they had it mailed out that night and they more than once expressed gratitude for the patience of waiting! I was directed to Hawaiian South Shore after having trouble finding a set of fins that Ive been looking for over a month. When I entered the store, I was greeted by friendly staff and was amazed by the selection of fins that had. It was great knowing that I could also demo fins out. Hawaiian South Shore is my go-to surf shop on the South Shore. It has everything I need and carries a lot of the more fun functional products like funky fins and neon leashes. They also carry Matuse wetsuits (the best) and their own line of similar Straw Hat branded suits that are awesome. I love the selection of Heather Brown prints and gear too.

Dave was extremely helpful and friendly. Theyre fully stocked with just about everything you need for a day in the water and have great demo programs. The rest of the staff is just as friendly and helpful and the Royalty Rewards program is awesome.

If I every have any questions or need solid quality gear I know where to go. The staff is super knowledgeable and helpful. Ive happily purchased a GoPro, a surfboard, and lots of accessories from these guys. Their attention to customer service is truly appreciated.

Some people and shops might claim to consider the surf and Hawaiian communities to be their extended Ohana but you guys truly practice what you preach! The new JS Black Box 3 is a magic stick (the extra 2L made the difference.. board worked awesome in the surprisingly clean slightly overhead conditions this afternoon at lighthouse!) And the Puddle Jumper is still a go to for fast fun in small conditions a year later. Thank you for the recommendations and user knowledge. Just moved to Hawaii and stopped by the shop to pick up a wetsuit vest for the winter season. The staff was friendly and helped me find exactly what I was looking for at a reasonable price (some of the smaller shops closer to my apartment charge exorbitant prices). I have been looking for a good and friendly Surfshop in Honolulu since I got in the town 3 months ago from North Shore.I buy fins, leash, traction pads and all kind of equipment every month, and I had bad times, bad experiences before finally go to Hawaiian South Shore.The crew, specially the cashier ( long hair guy ) were really helpful and attentive.After this visit, I found my surfshop in the town!

The guys gave a good explanation of Takayama longboards. The advice helped in my decision. Kyle even helped to make sure that the board fit in my SUV before I bought it. Very friendly and I would highly recommend getting quality surf products here.

My favorite surf shop on the island. They have the largest slection of gear from the eclectic brands that I like such as The Critical Slide Society, Almond Surfboards, Yoki Shop, and Captain Fin Co. All they need now is Insight, Rhythm, and Raen. I wont have to shop anywhere else.The customer service that they provide cannot be surpassed. They do a great job with customer relations which keeps me coming back.

Wow, I am surprised to see such good reviews for service...every time I have been in there the staff has been aloof and a little rude. Its like they think that they are the best surfers on the island and know one else has a clue how to surf. If you dont walk in there looking like you have money, expect to be ignored. During a time when I worked for a NPO looking for some help in finding volunteers (to teach disadvantaged keiki how to surf) they wouldnt even put up a flyer...NOT a place where I would spend my money...I prefer Aloha Boardshop, much nicer staff...

Great local business...David and his crew are all about the ohana factor.They do a great job bringing in the high quality good stuff you wont find at the mall shops. Youll find a great selection of boards for the ripper and the old guy living in denial thinking he can still go under 60. Other surf shops have a fin tree, HSS has the fin FOREST! Leashes, traction, even wax...they go above and beyond in giving the customer choices. You wont find a place on this side of the Pacific with a deeper and more complete selection of surf gear/wear.Product is one thing...service is another. The staff is knowledgeable without giving off a know-it-all vibe. You really feel like a guest in someones home and not another customer here. They treat things on a relational level and not a transaction.Ive been coming to HSS for the last 5 years or so and they just keep growing and getting better. Keep up the great work!

I always have a great experience when I hit South Shore. This last time I went it to load up on some items for an upcoming surf trip to Indonesia. Needed a couple leashes, a new set of FCS fins, and a set of bodysurfing fins. The store assistants were eager and helpful in picking out a set of FCS fins and I found everything else I needed. I was looking for a GoPro mount and they didnt have it...but a few days later they emailed me and said they had them in stock....great customer service. Its nice to know that in todays market...someone like South Shore is always trying to go the extra mile.
