I like these folks and they are friendly and helpful. Also, pretty fast. However they have a lot of trouble at least if the car like mine is American maybe…? Or maybe they just made some bad mistakes just randomly it happened to be on me. Could not find the simple problem in my brakes, and didn’t even check all of them, as I saw them work. It was one of the younger guys. I had to fix the brakes myself. Also, twice told me very expensive $1000 plus repairs needed for a different part of the car, but what they told me TWICE was definitely wrong and seemed like a blatant guess/lie because I had a professional shop repair a different area and it fixed it. One time, instead of over $1000-$2000, it was just a free part, costing less than $10 to the shop.These guys might be good for Toyota or obvious easy repairs, but anything a little bit tricky, try getting multiple opinions from real professional specialists in the parts in question. Or do it yourself and save tons! I like you guys, but really, I would’ve paid over $3000 for multiple repairs, that’s not good. But I like them and I would go back for easy jobs.

I took my Nissan Juke to Kapahulu Auto Repair based on my friend’s recommendation and I’m so happy I did. These guys took my car in after 2 other mechanics told me they couldn’t do anything for me. After a correct diagnosis and a lot of work my dead car is alive and purring. I can’t believe it!!! These guys are the total package from front desk to the rest of the cast. Professional, accurate, and fair. I highly recommend them to anyone in need of a great mechanic and decent people.

We have gone here a couple times and havent had too much of an issue, some things here and there but nothing that made us not want to give them another chance. We recently took our car in for a regular oil change and check up- they let us know the car was fine and everything was good to go. We were able to make it back home but the next time we tried to leave it seemed like our brakes were locked up or tires were messed up, grinding somewhere, some sort of issue we have never encountered before. Called Kapahulu Auto to see what our options are and they have completely refused responsibility or to help out, towing wise to their shop or at least having a guy come check it out. So we are spending extra money for a problem they very obviously caused when removing our tires (the mechanic told us they removed during inspection). Very unprofessional and makes it tough to want to go back to them again.

Even though my car wasnt completely fixed, they kept me updated and called twice a day to tell me what they did and what they are gonna do and they answered all my questions that i had. Im happy with the customer service and the work they did, they fixed my startup issues but couldnt exactly figure out the bogging issues which is fine but yeah all in all im happy with the services.

From there service to there hourly rate for labor if your looking for a good place to take your car to be fixed, this is definitely the place. And you still can walk out with money in your pocket. We take 3 of our vehicles there when we need too. Talk to the Aunty in the office because if need too you can pay it by credit card over the phone and have a family member pick it up when its done! Best mechanic Ive been to on Oahu. Fast service, good prices, and most importantly provide an honest diagnosis of your car.I came in sure that I needed a new alternator, and they could have easily just put in and charged me for a new one. However, Mike put mine through multiple tests and determined mine was still good, saving me a big expense. Speaks volumes.Debbie at the front desk provides impeccable customer service as well. I called ahead before dropping my car, and she was welcoming me by name even as I walked through the door for the first time.Will be recommending to everyone I know and will definitely be back!

This is a difficult review to write, as a customer of Kapahulu Auto for over 5 years. My most recent experiences with Kapahulu Auto have sent me looking for another repair shop.With several out of warranty cars, Ive had plenty of experience with this repair shop. Some of their diagnoses have been correct, some not. Some of their repairs have lasted, some have required re-work. What I previously enjoyed was open communication about when repairs would be complete, as well as being informed of possible delays. This gradually degraded to me dropping a vehicle off for repairs in a several day window, only to find at towards the end of said window that repairs hadnt been looked into yet!Now, normally I have no issue with delays. The repair requires another part and needs more time? No problem. The shop is down a couple technicians, so itll be take longer? I understand.The issue arises when a customer understands work will begin on a certain day to allow diagnosis of an issue, and at the end of a scheduled, several-day window to work on the vehicle, the scope of the repair isnt even determined.I voiced my concern to the older technician, and he was unwilling to hold the car longer to figure out and repair the problem. Being told to come pick up the car, I did, and decided I would not return.If having your car repaired ON SCHEDULE is important to you, I would not recommend Kapahulu Auto Repair. They can probably do the work, yet any other shop can too, and with a better attitude and more communication.

Ive brought three of my vehicles here over the years. You wont find a better shop. Mike and Ernest are hard-working, nice, honest guys. The work is good and the price is reasonable. Wont go anywhere else.

This shop offered at no charge to perform quick, 10-minute inspections of two used cars I was looking to buy. Each time they immediately found evidence of wrecks that the sellers either were unaware of or choose not to disclose. When I do finally have a car, I hope to bring it here for all servicing.

Im 64 years old and have had more cars than most people and I can say that Mike and Ernest are #1 honest, #2 very good mechanics, and #3 very very reasonable price wise and thats why you see so many cars in their shop and a line of cars waiting. You will be glad you took your car to them just like I have been for so many years.

Good customer service, no complaints, replaced brake pads and serviced rotor discs, multiple oil changes, they will find parking for you if you come by, may seem a bit packed. Id reccomend them to any of my family and friends.

Took my car in for engine stall and sputter, turns out radiator had a hairline crack ran out of fluid and ceased #1 cylinder. Mike, kept me informed on all procedures performed; never made a move without consulting me first. I live on the same street as this businessFirst complain take all the pkg on the street with their customers cars where we as residents who apts dont come with pkg so to PARK so far from our apts sometimes is RIDICULOUS, DANGEROUS, NOT FAIR they should use their shop property for their BUSINESSRUDE customer service, work is terrible my engine light was on & overheating with green coolant coming out being that my dealership was on the windward side,had KAR(Kapahulu Auto Repair) fix the problem they called & said Radiator needed to be replaced which cause me $400 asked if that was my problem Mechanic/Owner responded It wont get HOT/OVERHEAT again not explaining what they did,why the engine light was on, like other Mechanics when car is fixed,replaced parts usually explains & if more concerns that may occur in future if any??? KAR just took my $$$ no Thank you?? 3 days later went over the Likelike tunnel & as I entered into Kaneohe my engine light came on, car started to OVERHEAT, lost power & thank god I was close to my dealership where I rolled my car in just before it died.... Had 2 $$ 1000.00 more bc fan wasnt working which caused the overheating in the first place which suppose to have changed first not the radiator, also other problems that they just over looked which should have been told to me to prevent more dangerous, hazardous accidents luckily didnt have to EXPERIENCE..... NEVER once asked me,showed me my old radiator that suppose have had replace??? We as OWNERS have the right 2 keep the old parts or donate it to them....IM SUPER DISAPPOINTED, ANGRY,with their RUDE/DISHONEST, WORKSERVICE,IMPROFESSIONALISM, NEVER EVER going back to them & will share the bad experience with this business KAPAHULU AUTO REPAIR ON CASTLE STRIP OFF BIG TIME!!!! I wouldnt recommend them to anyone Ernest part owner is the worst, grouchy, awful MECHANIC ever met!!!!
