I purchased Avocado Green mattress as my second attempt with an online Mattress. I had high hopes but it did not work out for me. I bought a plush topper in hopes it would not be too firm. However, it was way too firm. The company claims it sleeps cool, it does not. It leaves a hot spot for hours after you have left the bed. Sadly, It had an odor I could not stand. The bed was nicely made, the company handled my return very well, it just was not for me.

Perfect mattress. I purchased the standard avocado green hybrid mattress about a month ago. I selected this mattress as I didnt want any memory foam. I could tell the difference immediately. It is firm and I did add a topper instead of getting the pillowtop version. I am sleeping great, the mattress just feels cleaner than the typical memory foam type. I tried it in the store and could tell it was perfect as soon as I lay down on it. I used the delivery set-up service which was wonderful. Avocado customer service also excellent. Highly recommend this company and mattress.

We visited the Hoboken store. the store rep we worked with was very knowledgeable. He was patient and professional throughout the whole process as we were purchasing three mattresses and it took some time to select them. Overall, it was a great experience. I would highly recommend visiting that store!

I purchased an Avocado Eco Frame, queen size, online. I really had high hopes, it was a big purchase for me but I justified it thinking I would never have to buy another bed frame again. I was immediately disappointed when the frame arrived, as I did not receive what I was led to expect by the photos on the website. The slats are just 2x4’s, and very warped. The pictures and description on avocados website led me to believe they are reclaimed wood matching the frame itself. This issue is mostly aesthetic, and I could have moved on from it if I didn’t encounter the structural issues of the frame.The bed frame is not even or flat! The slats sit just slightly lower than the frame itself, it is worst at the head/foot. It makes a big difference. My all latex ( brand new) mattress slopes in slightly from all sides due to this, which is extremely frustrating. I paid how much for a bed frame that isn’t even flat?!My other issue is the “center support”. Again, on the website I was led to believe the bed frame had a center support, and there is no mention that the “support beam” doesn’t actually touch the ground or the slats. I’m sure it helps keep the frame together, but does nothing to support the mattress itself.I spend weeks/ months communicating with customer support, explaining the issues and sending photos. In the end I was clearly given the run around….being asked the same questions over and over. I was given back $200…not what I wanted.I have other products that I love from Avocado, but this is a miss and really makes the brand hard to recommend anymore.

I purchased an avocado King sized mattress approximately one year ago. I’m pretty disappointed, and regret not returning it when I had the chance. For starters they recommend that the mattress be rotated every month for the first year. This is especially difficult with a king sized because the mattress is super heavy, and requires two people to move it, and it’s always a chore. I prefer a firm mattress, and the mattress did seem quite firm when it was new, but now is a lot softer. I spend a lot of time reading in bed and there is definitely a depression where my butt is (and I’m of normal weight). Overall the mattress is starting to feel and look lumpy. It also seems unnecessarily thick. I wish it could be flipped over and not just turned. Definitely requires the extra deep sheets (another expense…). Overall not thrilled with this mattress. Bummed that I will probably have to keep it for a few more years at that price.

Well, Amanda and Adrian, were just the sweetest people we encountered. They were both professional and knowledgeable with the several questions we had. There is no pushy salesman tactics here. The mattresses sell themselves with the quality workmanship.I also want to add she was very responsive with the emails I sent to her after our visit. The chat sessions prior to visiting, were very quick as well! This Its the most beautiful show room I have ever seen and its very convenient traveling to the store which is so close the Holland Tunnel.The classic green mattress was very comfortable and had a nice little bounce to it. Just right amount in my opinion. Very impressed. Thank you again for a wonderful experience.

There may be a lot of mixed reviews about Avocado, but I have had nothing but a pleasant experience while visiting the Hoboken showroom and ordering and receiving my mattress.We first visited the showroom back in March to try out the mattresses before purchasing - highly recommend if possible! We worked with Billy who allowed us to try all the mattresses without pressure, while also answering all our questions very thoroughly. We were not ready to buy when we visited, but Billy sent us an invoice via email that allowed us to purchase when we were ready.Fast forward another month, we placed our order for a split king. Delivery did take a few days longer than what FedEx initially estimated, but we all know everything is taking extra long to be delivered right now.Before ordering, I did have to utilize the customer service chat feature once. I did not have a long wait time, but I can see how this would be frustrating if I did. Like others have mentioned, having a phone line would make life so much easier for customers (and probably make some happier).All in all, weve had our mattress (classic green) about a month now and we LOVE it. Would highly recommend to anyone!

Don’t waste your money.Avoid this company.They are not green or efficient.They are wasteful.No useful customer service support.My wife wanted to shop avocado after research about organic/non toxic/sustainable etc etc. we pulled the trigger on the city bed frame w headboard and a mattress. The city bed frame took longer than the 6 weeks they predicted. The headboard never came. Fed ex sent it back to them due to either damage in transit or an issue with the shipping label. I got different stories from fed Ex and will never know what happened. Since it was being shipped back to avocado I figured they could template it and send another. Nope. They say they need to make another city bed frame to marry to the new headboard. Inside of 3 days they have a crew at the house to remove the bed frame (w no coordination or notice). We sent them away. I refused to sleep on the mattress on the floor again while avocado took god knows how long to fabricate another bed and headboard. Finally maybe a month or so later.. (so maybe 10-12 weeks from the original order), we received the new bed frame and headboard. I dismantle the old one and put it on my porch and assembled the new one. I get to the headboard .. and no hardware. Now without going into too much detail, avocado has these young millennial or maybe even Z Californian customer service reps and they are quick to respond but slow to act. They don’t seem to really have any ability to have things shipped or resolve issues. They seem to just be able to communicate in vague ways aimed at suggesting to you how helpful and on your team they are. Anyway another two weeks and I finally got my hardware. The headboard is two pieces and where they fit together.. right at the top.. in the most visible place is a unsightly glaring chip. It is underneath the finish so obviously it didn’t happen in transit. It’s how they made it in the workshop and I guess they thought it was good enough. I don’t have the will to continue on talking to avocado customer service. It’s too exhausting. Additionally, the company that came by my house to take the bed when the headboard didn’t arrive, it was like pulling teeth to get them to return when we were actually ready for them. The dismantled frame sat on our front porch for a couple weeks.The whole experience was disappointing. This is a sham company. They are wasteful. The quality of the product is sub par. They are definitely more organized in their sales department. Getting your money is an easy seamless process. It’s everything else that they have a difficult time w. I would ask to talk to a supervisor etc to no avail. Only Francesca or angeline, the 23 year old Californian girls without any useful solutions… but “please don’t hesitate to reach out if anything else comes up”

While the sales staff and showroom at Avocado are helpful and personable, the delivery white glove service of this company is a RIP OFFf. First of all, their recommended white glove service is $250 which is twice as much as a traditional store like Macys; and for many stores, delivery and removal of the old mattress is free. After many assurances that Avocado would take my old mattress, I opted for white glove service. However, dealing with the delivery service was a nightmare. They would not take the old mattress unless it was wrapped in plastic. They would not take the metal frame base at all. (Recently I bought my son a mattress from Macys. The men arrived two days later. Took everything and were finished in 30 minutes with a third floor delivery.). Ultimately, the delivery men from Avocado refused to make my delivery as I insisted that I had paid to have everything taken away and they would not do so. My complaints to Avocado resulted in an offer to reschedule and to have a secondary company come to remove my old mattress. Obviously, this is not the first instance that Avocado has had this problem as they offered an immediate although inconvenient solution, but the consumer is suffering and not getting the service that has been charged at a premium amount.Following up on this review a week later: After dealing with two companies to make this delivery happen, with removal, the delivery service showed up on the wrong day and with an open box. The incompetence is remarkable. I dont understand why information is correctly transmitted to customer and delivery alike.

My husband and I have been searching online for a mattress that fits both of our needs. After months of searching we came across Avocado Mattress. One of the biggest tests for me when dealing with a new company is to test the online services. I have tried messaging and now we tried the virtual tour of the mattress with Adrian. In all aspect of this touch, the service and the care the company provides is outstanding. In the virtual tour, Adrian, was adorable and so full of life and you could tell he was interested in making sure you got the information you needed. Because of this interaction with Adrian and my online chat person, we will be buying two of the mattresses, pillows, and toppers.

Follow up: two weeks later. Customer service is slow, but I can now say Diana from Customer Engagement, was very attentive and supportive of my issues. I think Avocado is experiencing growing pains and their business is moving faster then their internal processes. Diana ordered me a replacement mattress when Fed Ex screwed up the delivery. Fed Ex was terrible. They eventually delivered a badly damaged mattress package to an address two towns away 10 days after they claimed to have delivered it to me. I might recommend using Avocados delivery service, although it adds $250 to the price. The replacement arrived, despite Fed Exs totally inaccurate posting of the delivery date.We are looking forward to sleeping on it for many years.Terrible customer service. They do not have an active phone number for customers. They offer a chat service and email response which are incredibly UNRESPONSIVE. I had ordering trouble and delivery problems that i am still trying to get resolved. VERY DISAPPOINTED

This shopping experience was just eh. If I didnt already know what I wanted going in, I would not have purchased. The only reason I went in was to try the mattress, which is really the only good part of the experience. The store itself was very disorganized, unclean, and felt unwelcoming. It felt like we walked into someones untidy home and tried their beds. The ambiance of the store was very strange and not pulled together. The sales person was kind and knew what he was talking about regarding the product, but all in all pretty unsociable. Even though the mattresses are luxury, the shopping experience most definitely was not. I would honestly recommend making the order online instead of making the trip in store.

Representative clearly was not paying careful attention to my WRITTEN and verbal questions. He launched into a sales pitch and told me virtually nothing about the mattress. He told me what a good job he was going to provide... There is a sale going on yet he tells me there are no mattresses available at sale prices... He presented a mattress model different from the one in which I was hoping to purchase... I wanted a Queen size mattress and he sent me an invoice for a king size mattress although I asked for no invoice.I think I will go with Casper

I just had a virtual meeting with Adrian from Avocado Green Mattress. Adrian did an amazing job explaining how the mattress was made including materials used, where they came from, how/where the mattress was constructed and answered all of my questions in great detail. Adrian was a pleasure to work with. Adrian was not pushy but based on his knowledge of the products I also purchased the pillows and mattress pad. I look forward to getting my mattress because it was the top rated mattress according to consumer reports.

Prior to Covid,, my husband and I went to the store in Hoboken NY to try out the mattress. I had tried to purchase the mattress a few years before and ended up cancelling because of the poorly run operation of even getting the mattress delivered with a bed frame. .. So we are trying again. The store was fine. It was small. Not glamorous. Not very interesting and if I didnt already have an interest in the mattress, I would have left and not have wanted a mattress. Your sales pitch is lackluster to say the least. But anyway, we did keep all the info from the sales person and finally ordered in June. Its the middle of August and still no mattress. Yup.. the experience is going along as poorly, if not even worse,, than the first time. Where is the mattress? It is waiting for materials.. then it is supposingly being shipped. Oh .. still waiting for materials. Wait,, no ... still waiting for materials. Lots of polite letters, all sounding very staged, saying the same thing but then...a different sales reps leave well rehearsed email responding to one of my where is the mattress letters. Then I get a letter a bit later responding also. Obviously, each person is unaware that someone else has written.Finally, I am told it is being shipped.. to a shipper. who will contact me for delivery. I am getting the feeling they ship it the slowest and cheapest way possible and it still has to go to a delivery service. I am going to hope the set up and take away of the old mattress is not going to be a problem. because I have read that it has. Another polite letter telling me to contact the company if there is any conflict regarding the service for setting up and taking away. I am going to have to verify the delivery company is going to be doing all that. Why am I asked to verify that service????????Would I recommend the company? Not ever. In the end, as a consumer, I want my sales person to be honest. When you say it is going to be shipped at the end of July, then it should be shipped then. Each friendly letter with a bunch of bs, all polite and trying to be upbeat, does not help.. it actually aggravates your consumer. Being an environmental friendly and sustainable product is lovely, but if you cannot be upfront with your delivery, keep track of who writes and responds to emails, and be able to DELIVER your product, then all the good you do for the world means squat. No .. I would deter people from buying your products because I do not like saying,.. I Still do not have my mattress!

This showroom is immediately next door to the Hoboken Transit terminal, so if its easier for you to take NJ Transit to Hoboken than it is to drive, I heartily recommend. The showroom itself is a bit relaxed and cozy - I didnt immediately recognize it as a store at first. Their COVID care was top notch and the saleswoman Amanda gave us all the info we needed and no sales pressure. We did buy a mattress that will be delivered in the coming weeks, and while I cant speak to how long these mattresses last, they were very comfortable to lie on.

Its not often that I leave a Google review, but my experience at Avocado Green Mattress was so extraordinary that I want to share it. I ordered a mattress online from Avocado. I made the best choice I could, but the minute it arrived I knew it was way too firm for me. I followed all the recommendations and did my best to get used to it, but after almost 30 days it was still not comfortable to me.Because you only get 1 exchange (fair enough), my husband and I decided to make the trip out to Hoboken to test the mattresses in person. We were greeted by a warm and professional team of young men. When we explained that we were not satisfied with the mattress we purchased and how terrible we felt about having to return it, they immediately told us not to feel bad because the mattress was going to be donated to someone in need.One of the salespeople, Carr, jumped in to help us out. He provided pillowcases to rest our heads on for cleanliness and encouraged us to lie on a variety of mattresses, which we did. He was a wealth of information and was quickly and succinctly able to explain the various options. We picked the new luxury plush mattress with a pillow top out. A selection that was substantially more expensive than our original. BUT there was a barely used floor model that was for sale at a huge discount. Carr explained why it was on sale in detail and how it had been used. They even through in an organic mattress cover on top of the discount!As we started to work out the details, Carr was several steps ahead. He offered us an additional discount if we could arrange for pickup. It seemed easy enough, so we agreed. Then, we needed a way to get the return mattress back. Unlike the mattress we replaced, the latex mattress would not stand on its side and so we couldnt easily wait for a pick up - but honestly we were clueless about this issue.Without even telling us about the problem we were going to face, Carr solved it. He was in touch with the CA office, where he worked with an employee named Joy to coordinate someone to come THE NEXT DAY to pick up the mattress, deliver it to the recipient AND to pick up our new mattress in Hoboken and bring it to Brooklyn. All of this was free of charge.All of this would be enough for an incredible customer experience, but, theres more. The whole pick up and delivery was handled in the most friendly way imaginable. Raul and Martin text messaged in advance. Worked with my husband to get the very heavy bed down a narrow, floating staircase with fencing around it to protect our puppy from falling off. These guys were so cool and chill! Not at all your typical delivery folks.Now my Oura Ring (if you dont know what it is, check it out!) doesnt give me a big red alert for restless sleep (yay!) and Avocado has lifetime customers! The new mattress is beyond imaginable in terms of soft comfort and also support. Its truly a 5 star sleep experience. In addition we decided to purchase the platform that raises the head and feet. We had no idea that we had a need for this until visiting the store and trying it out!I should mention that ALL of the employees we encountered were Black, brown and/or non-binary. As Black people in the wellness industry, we are quite accustomed to visiting stores with all white staff. This company really has invested in non-white employees, who are exceptional in every way. Its also obvious that they like their jobs and feel connected with the mission and valued. We are really happy to spend money supporting such an incredible company that represents our values in every way. Its not every day that what could have been a horrible experience is transformed into the best imaginable. Kudos to Avocado Green Mattress!

The Hoboken shop is beautiful, well laid out allowing customers to test the bed and pillows. The rating I am giving reflect the after sales service. I did buy a pillow from the shop. The pillow did not come complete and I had to use the customer service chat to order the missing item. That experience needs to be improved waited 20 mins for a person to respond to a chat or email as there is no person to speak too. Then they mixed up the order and I again had to go to a chat box wait 30 mins for a response. Not great customer experience communication via a chat box all for 1 pillow.

The Avocado shop in Hoboken was a most pleasant discovery for me! It has a very aesthetically appealing design and a very serene atmosphere. All the products in display were made of superior ecological materials. Mr. McKinnon was very polite and most helpful in guiding me to choose the proper mattress. I was very positively impressed!

I accidentally ordered the wrong size pillows and am having a horrible experience trying to exchange them for the correct size. When I chatted them I explained my dilemma and they told me I first need to purchase the right size in order to return the others. And then said you purchased? Great we will get back to you on how to return in a few days. I feel taken advantage of a week later and STILL awaiting response trying to figure out if and how to return the wrong size.

I echo what the other people said. Ordered mid September. Order put off to five weeks then seven to nine weeks and now they tell me there is no tracking in late November and will get back to me be end of week. There is no way to speak to anyone by phone and it takes 3 to 5 days to even merit a customer email response. The chat also does not work (puts you on endless hold waiting for a representative). I have never encountered such poor service. There is no transparency at all from their customer service reps.

!!BUYER BEWARE!!This company is terrible. I have now requested return/refund instructions 3 times over the course of 3 weeks and they have failed to respond to any request. They supposedly have a 1 year sleep trial, but they certainly are not honoring it. I’ve had the mattress 3 months, and it is not at all a good fit for me. However, it is difficult to do anything about it when they fail to respond to requests. Next step is NJ AG and the BBB. After that is small claims.

I placed my order with Avocado on the 28th of September with only a receipt to show that I made a purchase with them. I have initiated contact with them twice, by email, asking for a timeline of when I should expect to receive my order, instead the only reply Ive gotten from them, twice mind you, are emails with links of what to expect from them???They are missing the point of running a successful business by NOT respecting their customers time and patience. They have not lived up to the standards that they are supposed to be by leaving their customers to guess, speculate about if theyve made the right choice of making a purchase from them. Here it is also a month since buying and NOT ONE EMAIL explaining who, what, when or where my order is and how far along in the process it is before I receive my purchase.??? I really do understand about the country being in a pandemic, but what does that have to do with reassuring your customers with an email??? I really think that they need to reevaluate their business model before they lose their customer and fan base. This is not rocket science on how to treat your customers...Keep them informed and maybe your company wouldnt have such bad reviews no matter how good your product is!!! Im still waiting for an email!!!

I am editing my review. I have received my mattress, and its great! My mattress was delayed, and there had been substantial communication problems, but once Avocado seemed to realize, they reached out and were very helpful and kind. I love my mattress!!! I assume, given my experience with customer service once they started communicating, that under other circumstances, there wouldnt have been the problems I had (Covid-19 is a big disrupter), and I am glad that I purchased my avocado mattress!!!

Terrible customer service. Harsh return terms with mandatory arbitration if a dispute arises in filthy covid ridden Hoboken, N.J. where their home office is located. The mattresses sold are grossly overrated by consumer reports, hard as a rock and extremely uncomfortable. The mattresses are grossly overpriced. Do not be fooled by the fancy website with the organic, vegan, green flowery language and icons. The mattress received was defective and they refuse to honor their warranty. Avoid at all costs from doing business with this mattress in a box website and company.

Do not believe anything this company says. nice web site but no product or customer service. STAY AWAY!!!!when i ordered the mattress the acknowledgement email stated it would be shipped from California in 5 days. It has been 5 weeks and nothing.I contacted them by email via customer service numerous times with no response. finally yesterday I received a response that it will be another week.. to ship, to receive??? No phone contact, chat function does not work. this company is a joke. they blame covid for this but if they know they are having such delivery problems dont promise a 5 day shipping and then string you along.My baby is still in a travel crib while i wait for this mattress

Posting this review a little over 3 months after having purchased a full-sized Avocado green mattress with a detachable pillow topper:So far, Im really enjoying my mattress! I struggled for a long time finding a good mattress -- I tried three different (expensive!) mattresses in around three years, and found that none of them felt very good after around the three month mark.I was a little nervous at first to buy an Avocado, since they are on the more expensive side, and since I was uncertain about purchasing a compressed-in-the-box mattress. As anyone whos purchased a few bad mattresses knows, its almost impossible to tell if a mattress is good or bad after trying it out in a store; you really need several nights to try it out and find out if it has hidden flaws. However, because of Avocados customer-friendly, 1-year trial policies, I knew I had very little to lose by at least giving it a try.The in-store experience was very good. Unboxing the mattress myself was relatively straightforward, and I was able to sleep on the mattress the same night.My only criticisms of my mattress are its high price point (although that wont matter much if I can get better use out of it than I could with my previous mattresses!), and the fact that its a little on the bouncy side.Overall, I highly recommend giving this mattress a try!

Mattress had a smell of a barn since arrival(and we are farmers), we did try and air it out on the back porch trying to give the mattress a fair try and it has been 10 months and still has a smell. The mattress started wearing unevenly within the first few months and now is cratered... I do not recommend this product.

My partner and I took a ride to Hoboken on September 12th to test out and the mattresses, Billy helped us very much that day, but since then any and all requests have fallen on deaf ears. I had to initiate a video chat with sales to try and get my questions answered. The chat option was even more frustrating as I was just told anything in the hopes of placating me. The company was quick to charge our card, but no where to be found when inquiring as to the status of our two mattresses. Since when is it a practice to charge a card, but not have The ability to provide the product? Take an order and charge upon shipment like every other company. Never mind the run around with the “new” adjustable bases. How do you have a sale on something that isn’t even in inventory and cannot be obtained for months after the sale? Ridiculous! There has to be a paper/electronic trail that can show the current status. Clearly you need to spend more on quality information systems and a few dedicated client service reps that will do their best to respond to client questions and concerns with accurate and honest information. If you need some tips, let me know. I sat in a client facing position for the better part of 20 years, I can show you a thing or two. I realize that COVID-19 has thrown a wrench in many things, and that is precisely why now is the time to go above and beyond and not hide behind excuses.

Beware when purchasing mattress from this company. I ordered my mattress on 6/4/20 and was assured over the phone that delivery would be on or before 6/15. It is now 6/19 and Ive asked for an update on my mattress and all they could say was it will take 8-10 business days for processing. I am going out of town and want to arranged for delivery but this company doesnt seem to care. This $1400 mattress is more than my TV and I was more assured ordering a TV than this mattress. I understand the COVID situation and how it plays a role, but some communication would go a long way. Recommend checking out other companies like Awara, which has similar beds and my friend was able to get the bed within 2 weeks. This is my order number 441277 if the company cares to respond.

Placed order on September 9th with an estimated delivery date of October 7th - October 14th. I contacted customer service on October 14th and they said the order would arrive no later than October 26. I contacted the company again on October 26 and they said my order would arrive no later than November 2. I reached out again on October 29th, but still have no received a response (as of November 6th). The original promise date was a full month ago. There is no phone number to call, so I dont know when I will receive my order.*** UPDATE ***November 23: Mattress arrived 76 days after placing the order. It seems like a good mattress.... updating my rating from 1 star to 4 stars. Not 5 stars due to the customer service and communication (or lack thereof).If anyone has ordered (or tried to buy) anything during COVID, they have undoubtedly experienced delays. This store is really nice, doesnt even look like a store. They have rooms set up like bedrooms so you get the whole experience when trying a mattress. The salesman was really nice and patient with us. We ended up not making a purchase so I cant comment on the longevity or integrity of the mattress but it was pretty comfortable when we tried it for a good half an hour.

Buyer Beware!!!!!! Zero StarsPlease be aware that this company may have won an award for the matress but they cannot deliver product in timely fasion. They charged our card 9/8/2020 almost $6,000 and then told us they cannot deliver until maybe November but they are not sure. That is $180 in interest without product. Very poor customer service, waiting over 7 days to just get an email. Placed order and heard nothing at all from company for 11 days. We have cancelled the order, filed a complaint and have a dispute through our Credit Card company who said doing an actual charge at purchase without ability to ship is not good business and they will look into this process to protect other customers. I am a US manufacturer and we authorize charge, only at shipping is charge actually made. They could and should follow this process according to Visa.

WARNING to those who want to purchase an avocado mattress: this was the worst customer service experience, I have ever had with a company from start to finish. Avocado was unable to locate our mattress, after FedEx said its on a truck for delivery for 3 days, and the status for when it was to be delivered changed 3 times. We asked Avocado for support on locating our purchase. After being passed along from one rep. to another, no one from Avocado was able to locate our mattress. The most alarming part of this major inconvenience was the lackadaiscal response from the Avocado team. There was absolutely 0 sense of urgency to locate our purchase, and to be honest 0 care. The lack of empathy was alarming and evident. Two managers and reps. said they would follow up with us each day we had not received the mattress, and neither did. One manager said shed be out of the office and offered no support as to who would oversee the case. After my fiance and I were looking forward to using this product, we never did, as still until this moment no one knows where our purchase is, and we asked for a full refund which was given to us after I had to follow up numerous times. To put it in perspective, our mattress was suppose to be delivered a week and a half ago, and yes, we ordered it in advance as recommended due to covid delays. My one recommendation to Avocado would be to invest in a new delivery service. There are many other companies who deliver and have come through for customers during these times. Also teach your representatives some empathy and compassion. Your investment in the environment and making it a better place should be just as important if not more so than your investment in customer care and service.

We needed to replace our 10+ year old queen mattress and also mattresses in our guest bedrooms. Did some research including Consumer Reports and saw that Avocado was very highly rated. Liked what we saw on their website, especially the fact that Avocado uses organic materials. But even with the liberal return policy we didnt feel comfortable purchasing a matress without testing it in person. We decided to take a trip to the Avocado store in Hoboken, conveniently located across from the PATH station. Their showroom is set up with several beds, each with a different mattress type. They give you your own pillow cover to keep things hygienic. Carsean was the salesperson who helped us and he was very knowledgeable and patient. We took our time testing each mattress, some several times. We never felt rushed. We ended up choosing the regular green mattress with the separate firm topper. Great buying experience. Hopefully we will like the mattress.

Poor poor customer service to date and I have not even received my mattress! Ordered a mattress and it is suppose to take 3 days to make and 3-6 days shipping. I received a tracking number but it never came. I finally called not a phone number, no they do not have one so you have to chat then email. Oh they said something was not in so they sent an email which they did not. The mattress was going to be delayed a month. If I would not call to check i would have been waiting. Sure they give you $100 credit but for a mattress and order of $2,000 you would think they would have some kind of customer service. Poor shipping process and even poorer communication. Customer service is phenomenal .I first purchased a king size mattress. It was okay. Ive been use to a pillow top beautyrest for 13 years! It is still in excellent shape and guests love the old mattress. However, i read the great reviews about reduced body aches and thought i needed to give it a try. I am a back sleeper and i really do feel rested with less aches and pains. I honestly dont think my firm mattress is all that firm. After about 2 weeks i decided to order the topper and pillows. I like the bed with the topper much more, but still not too firm. Maybe Im adjusting . Not crazy about the pillows. My worry is that over time (in 2-3years) the mattress will have a sink hole from where Ive slept. You could never tell with my old mattress where we slept, even after 13 years. Not sure if anyone has experienced any issues with that (body molding). I love that it is made in the US and environmentally friendly.

We purchased this mattress after reading the consumer reports reviews and shopping locally for other mattresses. The mattress takes a full two weeks to deliver which was frustrating. The mattress is extremely firm. I am a side sleeper and wake up with hip and shoulder pain. We have had the mattress for less than a month and already have two divots where we sleep that are visible when the bed is made. We weigh 130 and 200 pounds. You cannot call customer service directly. I was directed via chat to order a topper which is $50 more than their pillow top version with an integrated plush topper. The person also couldnt explain the difference in construction between the plush and firm mattress toppers and said I should just order the plush. Even more frustrating, ordering the topper will take an additional two weeks. When I tried to exchange what I hope is a defective mattress, I was told to order a new one and then call to return the current one when it arrives. It has been a complete disappointment and ongoing waste of time.

This company promises alot, but does not deliver on most of those promises. Starting with very unprofessional delivery personnel, who failed to call to let me know the mattress was available for delivery, [though claimed they did], failed to give me 30 minutes notice for arrival of the mattress, and sent some highly perfumed men into my green home, requiring several steps to get rid of the stench, and chemical toxins left behind.Once the mattress arrived, it did not take long to realize that it was way too firm for my style of sleeping. Now, I must deal with some very self-righteous people who initially claimed that arrangements to pick up the mattress would be made by a sustainability evolution team within 48 hours. 60 hours later, I hear that I can find a charity on my own to take the mattress, or they will look into it, I must be patient while they save the world one mattress at a time. Note they advertise on their website returns are infrequent, but have a special department to deal with this, that apparently is too busy to respond or otherwise make arrangements to pick up the mattress.In the meantime, I have a mattress that is too heavy for me to lift off my bed and place elsewhere, while I am sleeping on the couch as an alternative to the highly painful sleep experience of this mattress. Now it is five days since contacting the company for a return, and no response. The customer service is terrible when there is an issue. The response to the complaints about the delivery service was maybe they had the wrong phone number. And in the meantime, I am out some $2400 in payment on this mattress.

Avocado has one the best customer service experience support systems in place that I have encountered in a very long time. You can reach them almost anytime via chat online, and they will call you if needed, no waiting on hold. The mattress is pretty good also, you can tell that the materials are high quality, and there is absolutely no smell. Unfortunately for me, I preferred more of a memory foam feel, and this mattress felt more like a springy traditional bed. I was under the impression that it would feel more absorbing because they advertise using pressure point support. It is a comfortable mattress however, just not as comfortable as a memory foam alternative, but that is solely a personal preference on my part. I highly encourage anyone looking for a mattress to give Avocado a try. It is as good if not better than mostly anything out there and their customer service is stellar. If you purchase from them, have confidence that almost any question or problem that arrises, they will work with you to make it right; from ordering to delivery, to pickup or returns!

I purchased a king sized Avocado mattress after visiting the showroom in Hoboken. Weve had our mattress for approximately 85 days now and I absolutely hate it. It is way too firm! Im a light weight back sleeper and I developed back pain from sleeping on this mattress. I have contacted customer service and we will return the mattress. The lack of a phone number to call for customer service is unacceptable. I Ordered a mattress online, had them deliver to a FedEx Kinkos office. I never received a notification when it was delivered, and FedEx sent it back a few days later, which I found out after tracking the order further . I first learned of Avocado mattress after purchasing a Leesa. The Leesa memory foam mattress smelled so strong of toxic chemicals, I could not keep it in the house. This inspired me to learn more about the toxins in foam mattresses and I was appalled. Enter Avocado Mattress. I needed something affordable & non toxic, that I could feel good about having my child or myself sleep on. The ordering process, customer service, interest free financing and delivery was excellent. Now that I have the mattress, I absolutely love it. It is obviously built with quality in mind, and it is extremely comfortable. In fact, the first night I slept better than I had for weeks on the Leesa. It is firm, but doesnt feel too much so as a lightweight, side sleeper. After 2 months we realized the mattress wasn’t going to work - the avocado rep told us if we could coordinate and document a donation of the mattress, they’d give us a complete refund, and that’s exactly what they did. Have yet to receive two pillows ordered online a month ago. If it takes more than a month to put filler in a pillow case then Im confused how even hand made this would take a month. They must be severely under staffed.Update: 2 star originally bc over a month wait for 2 pillows to ship. 3 Star after customer service provided a delivery date and discount for inconvenience. And 4 Star because the pillows are amazing. Soft on your head but provide great support for side or back sleeping. Took about 3 nights to adjust the fill to our liking. Every now and then we get our pillows swapped when washing the sheets and can tell the difference in the fill within minutes.

We’ve had our mattress for about five months or so and love it ! The firmness was a short adjustment period and was certainly for the best. My old mattress was throwing me out of alignment. Since it’s firm I try not to sleep on the side, but my chiropractor said that I shouldnt do that anyway because it throws your shoulders out of alignment. When I sleep on my back I have my best nights sleep! We love the smell and the feel. Happy with the pillows too!! Super comfy! Delivery was easy. Felt bad for delivery guy though it weighed a ton !

We absolutely love our mattress and pillows. Easy delivery and set-up, even onto our lofted bed frame. We are both very active (120 and 165 lbs), both sleep mostly on our side and sometimes on our back. We ordered the pillow top version and it has been great since day 1. My husband even has a fused spine from an injury and he’s experienced zero back pain since sleeping on our Avocado. Personally I’ve noticed that my hands aren’t falling asleep like they used to and other aches and pains are also gone. It’s also not hot like memory foam and all the better that it doesn’t have any chemicals or toxins like our old bed. We highly recommend this bed and company!

My son purchase for my birthday almost two weeks ago a standard avocado mattress it was to be deliver on Monday 3/23 it was not, Fed ex said it would be deliver Tuesday 3/24 it was not...another e mail last night saying it would be deliver today so far no morning delivery....major disappointment to say the least. Ive call Fed ex three times waiting on line for almost an hour getting no representative to answer my call. I tried to communicate with your office in Hoboken close...you dont have any other number listed so a customer can call and let you know whats going with their order. You need to have a number where customers can reach your office and contact Fed ex carrier directly and take proper action before customers like me get fed up and cancel orders which I am thinking to do. I could have purchase a mattress elsewhere and I would have had the mattress deliver in two days and set up for free which your company does but charging an extra $200 set up fee. This is a 3-star review because of the “white glove” delivery service. The mattress itself is amazingly comfortable. I love my Avocado mattress, but the energy-draining, time-wasting, exhausting process of having the old mattress removed and the new one delivered has made me question whether it was worth going through the trouble for this mattress. (Story below.)If you are able-bodied and can remove your old mattress and install new one yourself, do it.My experience: I own two Avocado pillow top mattresses. My first order had “white glove” delivery. It was delayed by about a week per the delivery company, who told me that they would not - as advertised by Avocado - remove the old mattress. I contacted Avocado, and they arranged for another company to remove the old mattress. This meant spending an entire day for pickup (8-10am) and delivery (9am-1pm) — wasted time from work and other things I needed to do.My second Avocado order was pure chaos. I tried to head things off by contacting Avocado upon order re: the mattress removal and delivery issue we encountered last time, and still, we could not orchestrate pickup/delivery on the same day. The mattress was scheduled to be delivered on a Wednesday; old mattress removed that Friday. I could live with a mattress blocking my upstairs hallway for 2 days, but it turned into almost a week. The first delivery company canceled — there were multiple phone calls and wasted time/energy involved in finding this out — and Avocado eventually got another company to come out. They picked up the mattress after it had been blocking my hallway for 5 days. That night, the original company called and left a message, apologized for not showing up, and wanted to reschedule. This meant multiple phone calls between me and this company, an email to Avocado, lots of wasted time/energy, all because Avocado did not cancel that pickup.The supposed “white glove” experience was a nightmare for me, so buyer beware. The product is quite lovely, and customer service through Avocado is okay-ish, but if you can avoid it, do not take the “white glove” upcharge. It will not make your life easier, as it is intended.

I purchased an Avocado Green mattress because of the reviews in Consumer reports. It turned out, for us, to be very uncomfortable. I initiated the return process and that is when the nightmare began. First, its literally impossible to speak with anyone. The only customer service option is by chat. When the return was initiated, I was told that I would need to pay for the pickup even though their website states free returns. After pointing this out, the agent corrected herself,. I was told I would be contacted with a pick up date. Nope. I had to get back in touch to ask. It had never been initiated. I tried again. I was told that they would prepay the pick up service. Nope. They neglected to do so which required me scrambling, as the mattress was being picked up, to find out why so that I didnt get stuck with the charge. Then I was told that the refund would be processed in 72hrs. Nope. Six days later I asked why I had not received my refund. No one processed it!! The agent now says that he has processed it, but it will take 10days!!! This has been the most nerve wracking, frustrating experience. The customer service is atrocious.

Avocado gets 5 stars for a few reasons.1. Responsiveness. Do not overlook the importance of doing business with a company that actually responds to you like your good friends when you call or email them.2. Action minded. So I would probably give them a true 4.5 stars because I am writing this on behalf of 2 people using their King Bed. Overall I am happy but my spouse had some hesitation and some discomfort. We slept on the mattress for a while (w/out pillow topper), contacted Avocado with our concerns. (wife has had 2 shoulder replacements and I think that puts her in a special category altogether - trying to be as fair as I can here). We ordered a pillow topper per their suggestion and I would say her comfort on the bed went way up. I liked it both ways, firmer and softer. I may just like sleep.3. Green. Lets face it, we spend a ton of our life on our mattresses sleeping. I want to know that I am not taking in any more bad off gasses in our super duper highly efficient insulated homes than I should be. Side-sleepers and Eco-minded Buyers BEWARE: This mattress is super firm even with the plush topper. My husband and I are both side sleepers and were really uncomfortable on this mattress. We thought it might get better with time but it didnt. The other reason you should be wary is that this mattress is not a good green option -- if you choose to return it, they will send it to the landfill rather than donate it to a worthy charity. Ours was under 3-months old and we had used a mattress pad to protect it and keep it clean in case we needed to return it... and when we did, the guy who came to pick it up shared that his instructions were to take it to the dump. No company that markets itself as eco-friendly should be putting a barely used, totally clean, mattress in the landfill.

Weve had the Avocado mattress for 2 months and my back pain is almost 100% better. Im a side-sleeper and a stomach sleeper (I alternate) and Im a bit stocky (250 lbs.). This mattress is extremely heavy-duty and supports me well in all areas. Im impressed at the high-quality manufacturing and the detail that they took in manufacturing this mattress and am glad to know that its Made in America. I am an environmentalist/conservationist so the green factor was a definite factor in our purchase. I chose to write my review on google rather than through the vendor Avocado Green uses to solicit reviews because it seems they only submit the 5 star, completely glowing reviews to the website. I ordered a king size mattress and the separate pillow top and chose to get 2 king sized pillows for free instead of $150 off (that was the promotion at the time of ordering). Let me start out by saying the customer service was fantastic. Each person I interacted with through chat was very responsive. One of the reasons I went with this company was that the product was delivered FEDEX and I could select an option to just leave it on the porch. Because I live in a safe neighborhood and we have security cameras, I was good with this option. Meant I did not have to schedule time off from work. Well, I guess Fedex decided to stop shipping these mattresses because theyre too heavy, so they had to go with a freight company. I tried and thought we had managed to get them to leave the product. It just so happens, I was coming home when they were leaving, and they had not left the mattress since I wasnt home. Because I came home, they delivered. So, beware, you do have to be home to have this mattress delivered. I asked them to change this option on the website, but Im not sure they did .The mattress is very, very heavy. But we managed to get it on the bed. The first night we slept on it without the pillow top to see if we liked it. We only lasted 2 nights without the pillow top. It is very, very firm and we were used to sleeping on a squishy water mattress for many years. Once we put the pillow top on, it was better. But I was still not comfortable. Im a side sleeper and I was just not sleeping well. My husband and I were both sweaty all the time. Even though the description says its cool, it didnt seem like it. We were always hot. My husband reverted to his previous pillow and started sleeping better. I ended up doing the same and eventually after about 6 weeks, I am finally comfortable sleeping on this mattress. I have severe osteoarthritis in my knees and the one thing I noticed with this mattress is my knees no longer hurt at night when Im sleeping. Were about at the 3 month mark now. We are going to keep the mattress. The pillows have been discarded. I should have went with the $150 off, but no big deal. We still sleep very warm, but its not unbearable.I suggest you give this mattress a good 2 to 3 months before making a decision. It is a pricey investment, but I do think its worth is. I rated it 4 stars instead of 5, because I do not believe the claims that it cools you off, or sleeps cool. It is a pretty warm mattress. We only use the top sheet .

I’ve had this mattress now since July and couldn’t be happier. I’m 5’ 11” and weight 185 lbs. I’ve always primarily been a stomach sleeper, but it’s pretty common for me to fall alsleep on my back or side now (side sleeping is especially comfortable). I needed to get my son a real twin-size mattress and went to Consumer Reports and saw their high rating for Avocado. I like Consumer Reports and trust their reviews. Avocado has a nice website, the info and pictures are nicely presented. I placed my order thru their site, paid thru Paypal and waited 4-5 weeks for the mattress. We got the twin size with a padded top, the padded top is $250 more and highly recommended if you like a softer feel. The mattress will come in 2 layers of plastic wrap, after you remove the first layer make sure you lie the mattress flat on the floor and then remove the second layer. Its a wonderful mattress and my son loves it. It has the perfect amount of firmness for me, I sleep in every position (back, side, and stomach) and I really like it. If you like REALLY soft mattresses you may not like it, but I think the softness provided by the padded top will be fine for most people. Also, Avocado will refund your money after using it for the first 3 months. What more can you ask for?? Excellent product, order/delivery was perfect. They are not cheap, but I highly recommend this product.The Consumer Reports rating and Avocados 3 month return policy made this an easy buying decision for me. We will definitely be keeping the mattress btw.Shopping for a mattress can be tricky. Just because it looks and feels good in the showroom does not mean it will retain its shape and do its job over time. This is why you need a reliable third party review to test it and cut it open to examine its construction. This is why the Consumer Reports review was so mportant to me.

90% of the reviews and comments are fake, its actually funny evident in the their webpage just another startup trying to label the product and materials as eco luxury non toxic avocado green just, think about it, when are people going to wake up from this kind of marketers? all of this come from my wife getting a green mattress and spending money just for the branding of it.. nothing else..

We bought our mattress on may 20. By early/mid June we checked in to see the status of the order bc we hadnt had any updates. The associate told us it was going to be a week late. We were frustrated that we hadnt already been updated about this when it became clear to the company of the delay.He gave us a 100$ refund for our inconvenience. So at this point we were in the process of moving accross town so we asked to change the delivery address. The guy said no problem and changed it for us. A couple weeks later we check in with a different associate to check the status - this guy tells us he cant give us an exact date of shipping but it should be in the next week. We waited a week.... And heard nothing. Checked in again. ... This associate tells us it was going to take 5-6 more weeks.... Apparently when we asked to change the delivery address the guy had completely cancelled our original order and created a whole new one... WITHOUT TELLING US!! we were so fed up we decided to cancel our order. The guy didnt care at all. He didnt try to salvage the order at all. He was short and unpleasant and immediatly cancelled it. We waited for a month and a half for this bed. My husband has been miserable on our current one and was excited about this one. My husband tracked down the co founder of the company Mr deAndrea and called him up. Mr deAndrea couldnt seem to care less either. He barely apologized, didnt ask for contact information or a name... Nothing. In my opinion, this company couldnt care less about its customers. DO NOT DO BUSINESS HERE. There are plenty more companys more deserving of your business. Its not worth it.
