Unbelievable experience! Ron had such great enthusiasm and knowledge of all things chocolate. He went through the entire chocolate making process from the cacao pods to the bean fermentation, roasting and grinding with tasting samples at each step of the process. It was so fascinating and our kids loved it. Then there was the hot chocolate and coffee! Cant give enough stars for this place.

Everything fabulous in one place. The chocolate was the best Ive had. The coffee was incredible. And everything comes with Rons explanation of how he made it from scratch, and even how he figured out how to make it from trial and error. Truly a highlight that I will remember (and wish I was back there!!!). Make time for this! (As others have explained, it may not look open, but call the number.)

Amazing place and owner! This guy needs somebody with money and some decent Cacoa farmers so he can make more amazing chocolate. I have had the best chocolate of my life here and the owner has many other creations which are truly inspired. I told him to simplify the coffee, which is incredible beans but should be prepared less strong with a Melita style rather than espresso so the differences can be tasted. This place is absolutely worth a stop and a chat.

Wonderful and unexpected experience. Ron is so passionate about his business and his customer service shows it. His chocolates and coffee are amazing. A little off the main drag, so it can be hard to find, but definitely worth the stop!

Stopped in for a cup of coffee and left with so much more. The owner, Ron, is very dedicated and enthusiastic about what Sweet Dreams has to offer. We sampled coffee and chocolate made from local ingredients, sourced 100% from farms throughout the big island. He shared his knowledge and experience with us and genuinely cares about the product he offers. We didnt expect the lessons in how his chocolate and coffee are made, but it gives some great insight into the labors of his craft.

A unique find on the island. Ron is friendly and engaging, and while I would imagine he rubs some people the wrong way on conversational topics, you cant help but come away feeling that he truly and deeply cares about the quality of the products coming out of his shop. Excellent smooth coffee, and the chocolate is excellent although expensive. The expense is justified when you see the care and dedication he puts into his small batch chocolates, and realize how little he has the ability to create each year due to running the entire process from pod to finished chocolate. The only reason I cant give him a fifth star is because he simply seems overwhelmed when he gets more than one or two people in his shop ordering coffee at a time, and really needs a barista to come in and run the coffee side of things for people in a hurry. If you have a half hour or more, youll be rewarded with an educational experience with a passionate and genuine individual.

Such a great experience! Coffee and chocolate are awesome with fresh natural flavors. Both filled with flavor and NO bitterness. Definitely think a barista would be helpful in the future. Make sure to stop here if you love coffee and chocolate!!

Very good chocolate and coffee. Very small operation, the very friendly owner also runs the store on his own. Hell give you a rundown of his self-made chocolate process if you like as well.Only serves coffee and chocolate unfortunately, so dont expect anything else. Worth a visit if you have some spare time.

The owner - Ron - was very knowledgeable and had a genuine love of all things cocoa and coffee. We had espresso from beans grown at his home and sampled chocolate made in his shop - it was amazing. I highly recommend this place if you desire delcicious chocolate and coffee and a thirst for knowledge behind the entire process!

I was able to sample this chocolate and that from 2 other of the local establishments. This is a much more intense and smooth chocolate. Well done!! Also had a mocha and was pleasantly surprised to find that it had a good chocolate flavor without being too sweet.

My husband and I had several hours to fill before our flight out of hilo and it was rainy so we dodged in here for a cup of coffee and got so much more! Ron, the owner, walked us through his chocolate and coffee growing, drying, roasting, and processing process and let us sample all along the way. He makes amazing chocolates, latte, and flavored sweeteners and is happy to talk to you about them all as well as let you sample and purchase any of his creations. While this is not a place to drop in for a quick cup of coffee, it is an amazing learning and tasting experience.

I agree with all of the previous positive comments. This place has the potential to be Hilos premier coffee and chocolate shop, I would go as far as to say a unique spot on the planet. I have never been so engaged in the art of cultivating, processing and then brewing coffee and creating chocolate products. The owner is a completely authentic enthusiast who creates your coffee, vanilla and chocolate from scratch (he grows the stuff) with low tech small scale technology. Everything is being processed within eyeshot. When I saw the set up my expectations were extremely low because the service was somewhat chaotic - however I was blown away with the variety and flavour of his coffee roasts and chocolate. Not a gimmicky flavoured syrup in sight! He is starting out small and cautiously and definitely needs a well organized someone to serve while he does the the production and engages customers who are interested in what they are consuming. The business is the antithesis of Starbucks in the best possible way and needs support allowing it to grow to more a efficient model without losing any of its wonderful enthusiasm.

Hands down the best coffee house experiance Ive ever had. Period. I travel close to 6 months out of the year and hit lots of them. Ron, the owner, provided a fun experiance and customer service that was amazing. I had a great doubleshot americano and my wife and mother had two superb hot chocolates made from dark chocolate that Ron had litterally just made. Where on earth can you find that??? He provided a solid run down of his operation which was educational and fascinating. His selection of Hawaiin coffee was great and his handmade chocolates were amazing. Stop in and give this place a try, you wont be sorry! Oh, this is a place for a laid back experiance where drinks are made with exquisite care. Not a grab and go place and that is one thing that made it nice. AAA+++
