Maybe we stopped by there at the wrong time. Not too many choices of cookies. I ended up buying those that I dont care much. We will go there in the morning next time. I just love to get my ube cookies.Nevertheless, the store and the factory were clean. Weve watched the workers making candies. Theyre wearing uniform shirts with masks and rubber gloves. The floor staff were polite and friendly.

Great place for some sweet Big Island! My better side said now you know you have been to Hilo! Good location, not far from airport. Following COVID-19 protocols. Candy all types is great and you can watch them make some. A bit high end, but like homemade.

In my opinion it wasnt really worth the extra trip. I expected them to have a lot more selections given the size of the place. A friend recommended we stop by so wanted to check it out.

Stopped here and purchased chocolate covered Mac nuts and shortbread cookies. It was nice to find cookies without nuts. They are absolutely delicious!

Definitely worth a stop! Wonder candies and cookies. The chocolate is very smooth and tasty. Recommend the chocolate fish wrapped like a grocery store fish and the chocolate covered red velvet brownies. Excellent!

Oh wow!!! The chocolate here is super fantastic and tasty. As a tourist visiting the Big Island, it was highly recommended that if we were to travel towards the Volcano National Park that we visit the Big Island Candies and boy were we like little kids. The store is the actual candies and chocolate making factory that allows visitors to view employees making and wrapping chocolate into boxes and it was a pretty cool site to see. As we were recommended to come here, I will do the same and forward this review for viewers to go visit this store, you will mot be disappointed.

Cool little stop for some quality treats. Everyone gets a sample and you can see the employees making everything through the windows during the week. The milk chocolate macadamia nut cookies are excellent!

These are very similar to the hawaiian cookies you find on Honolulu and Maui; they certainly taste the same. They have a wide selection of cookies and other baked goods. The best part is being able to see them make the cookies since their large bakery is viewable from the shop.Easy gifts to grab as souvenirs (who doesnt like cookies!), ~$13 for 20 cookies or so. If you are lucky, they do drop 4-6 cookies in your bag during checkout for free :D

This its one place that everyone on the big island must stop by and just try a chocolate dipped cookie. You will be hooked.This time (8/2021) the cookie making wasnt on display and samples werent being handed out. That didnt stop is from spending over $100.Its a 10 minute detour when you are going to Volcano and you will not regret it.

Lots of cookie and candy packages to select from.They provide a very nice brochure with pictures and descriptions of all the items they hand make on site.The employees and cashiers are very helpful and courteous. The products can also be shipped from this location or you can buy online.Parking is adequate, and make sure you pick up one of their free product punch cards. The more you buy, you receive credit towards other items once you accumulate over $100 worth of their candies or cookies - good in store or online.

Best shortbread cookies! Dipped caramel dark chocolate Mac nut and dipped coconut are great. I went there twice while I was in Hilo for 5 days. There are varieties of cookies. Must go.

Great cookies and candies. It was so original until the copycats started stealing their ideas. But still the best.

The place is very nice, lots of varietys of cookies to choose from. However, the ladies with doing chocolates were very judgmental. I felt judged and didn’t feel like they were friendly. This one lady, Evelyn was very mean, she looked like she was very judgy at me and It seemed like the other co workers were like that too. Overall, I would go back but I wouldn’t stare at the Filipino ladies doing the cookies, very sad and not good with customers. I feel so bad for the other workers.

The inside is so amazingly lovely. All the boxes and bags are so pretty and everything I tried was delicious. Especially loved their chocolate mints. Cant have too many of them.

I love this place!! They have delicious cookies and chocolate products! My favorite is the Macadamia Nut Crunchies (chocolate covered potato chips). They used to give out samples too!!! Anyways this place is awesome.

Its changed since the pandemic, they have a greatly reduced showroom and no cookie making to watch. We bought a cookie assortment and a box of brownies, theyre still as delicious as I remember from 2014.

Came here for the new limited SALT cookies. You will enjoy free samples and Kona coffee. We liked their cripy rice chocolate very much. The new salt cookie has a decent butter flavor and you better come early morning to get them. We brought their famous shortbread cookies as treat to office colleague. A perfect place for authentic Big Island souvenirs.

This place is great and has some awesome stuff. I love coming here and buying the Dark Chocolate covered Shortbread. I also really love the Dark Chocolate Rocky Road, So......... good. There are many great options for everyone. One really cool thing about coming here is that you can actually see them making the candy there. A must visit.

They are pricey, but make great gifts! The packaging is beautiful and everything is delicious. You get what you pay for. My favorites are the green tea dipped shortbread cookies and macnut blonde brownies. The staff is wonderful and very helpful as well.

Such a fun and expensive place to visit. Really worth the going if you love cookies and shortbreads. I believe theyre the competitor for Aloha cookies, except this place doesnt let you try and pick your own cookies, and they have more variable type of sweets, such as candies, biscotti, chocolate, as well as souvenirs. Love the decorations and how well they put the entire store.

All of the treats are made on site and you can view the process through the glass window on the store. They offer free samples and everything tastes great! It is a bit pricey than conventional candy stores but well worth it.

Love Big Island Candies!! My parents live on the Big Island, and every year I make them drive me over to Hilo to get free samples (shortbread and Kona coffee), see them hand-dipping the cookies, and buy myself a box of chocolate covered shortbread cookies (sometimes I even buy some for gifts because they come in a nice box. They also decorate the place so beautifully!

I wish Id bought more! The cookies are so good and the variety is impressive. My mom brought these cookies back to the mainland after a trip to Hawaii three years ago and we couldnt wait to go back. I discovered they also ship to the mainland, which Ill surely take advantage of for gifts!

We have been to this store to watch them make the chocolate covered macadamia nuts. Then we have purchased a selection of their on line catalog as well. It has all been outstanding. I love the rice crispies and dark chocolate. I wish this available in a sectioned slab. Their cookies and other items are all worth eating. There are no better macadamia nuts anywhere. I think it partially due to their great chocolate but also they use the best nuts. Cannot recommend these folks enough.

Incredible tasting chocolate, cookies and the ice cream pie was exceptional! Aside from delicious, the service was what really made our experience great. The workers all waved to us as we watched them do their work through the viewing windows. The cashier was friendly and helpful. We’ll be back for sure!

It should be called big island cookies as there was no candy. I was really expecting aisles of Li Hing Mui candy and the like. The chocolate is out of this word, really good. The ice cream pie was probably the best Ive ever had. Overall this place is great but the name is a little misleading.

Swear so much good to say about the Big Island! In Hilo went to the candy factory. First parking is free, entrance was free, free candy samples of so many types of candies. When your about to enter they open the door and greet you with their famous chocolates. So much love in Hawaii :) 💕

Samples as soon as you enter plus coffee offered right after. Every sample was extremely delicious. Due to the hot weather I decided not to buy from there until I am leaving the island, since its really close to the airport anyway. So I figured Ill grab some before I go. You can watch them manufacturing the chocolate in the factory style shop behind glass windows.

Yum. Just yum. Expensive yum, but so worth it. We received these cookies as a parting gift from the Lefends of Hawaii Luau at The Waikaloa Hilton & had to have more. So worth the trip. Facility is impeccably clean and very friendly staff.

Im a picky eater but theres nothing there I dont like. Theyve been at that location for a long time and is a very well known brand in Hilo/Hawaii.The decorations and displays inside the store are elegant but fun.

Calories, calories and more calories. The place is amazing, free samples of candy or cookies and Kona coffee upon entering. At the back wall you can view workers hand packing the chocolate candies. There is a wide selection of while, mill and dark chocolate candies, plus they have short bread cookies. The staff is incredibly patient and kind to the customers. If you are in the area please make it a point to visit.

Who DOESNT love Big Island Candies??! Even if youre not going to buy anything, come through to look at their beautiful seasonal displays. During our limited activities due to the pandemic, the store has reopened, but is running about half staff, and the shelves and displays are more limited. BUT, you can still find your favorite cookies and candies, and the staff is still incredibly friendly and helpful. When its running full steam, you can watch the kitchen activity through a huge window as they make their fresh, tasty treats. And they are super grateful people are still coming to shop... Safely. We keep a stash of BIC boxes as hostess gifts or to thank people for their kindness and help. When they see the box, they always accept with a huge smile!
