After searching weeks for a storage unit one finally popped up here online and I quickly reserved it. Gave them all my information (including card info) and got my confirmation email. Move in day comes around and Im waiting at the front desk and nobody is around. Finally a lady comes in from outside and I proceed to tell her I had a reservation for a unit. She tells me there are none available. I told her I had it reserved and the first excuse was the computer messes up(even though I had the email) and then she says its first come first serve....what is point of offering reservations if you dont honor them?! Every place Ive called does not give away an available unit if its reserved already! Complete waste of time!

I had a good experience here. Very friendly staff. Easy to drop the truck off. Brand new truck. Very satisfied. I would recommend this place.

If it wasnt for Christine who works there, this place would be getting 1 star.Yesterday I arrived at 6:40 pm after an exhausting day of loading a 2 BR apartment into one of the UHaul Trucks. We had reserved a storage unit and I just needed the key and to know what number it was. The woman who attempted to help me (NOT Christine) rushed through explaining where the unit was, and handed me a map. She did not explain anything about how to get in, just drew arrows where I assumed she meant I needed to drive, to get to the unit. We drove according to her map and there was nothing but parking lot. Then we went back again to the front office and they were locking the doors. The woman who had given me the map then let out a huge sigh (because it was 6:50 at this point and they were closing at 7), and explained that I was supposed to have PARKED the truck and carried each of the items in the 30 foot truck across the inside of the building before we would find the unit. I thought for sure it must have been a very short walk, considering she knew we had rented a 30 foot truck from them!! Ummm, no. She assigned us a unit that was about a half a mile away from the parking area and was just gonna leave the facility! In fact, she ran away from me and got in her car as fast as she could!Luckily, Christine saw me freaking out with this full truck with no way in hell that on a 90 degree day, we could carry a washer, dryer, desk, chairs, tables, Ottomans, etc. through that labyrinth. She gave her own personal remote control for the large bay door that happened to be right in front of our unit, and allowed us to pull right in. She left the remote with me so that we could take the time it would take (over an hour) to unload everything into the unit. And I returned the remote along with the truck key.Christine stayed until 7:09 to be sure we got what we needed, and in doing so, she restored my faith in humanity. The other woman was like a bat out of hell at that place (even before closing time) and if I were her boss, she wouldnt be working for me anymore. Thank you Christine!

I’ve used this location several times in the past, I run a little side business and sometimes I need an extra truck to haul things. Not only did they charge my account/card with out my presmission nor calling me. One of the employees (Richard) had a very sorry attitude Saturday when I talked to him on the phone I didn’t take it personal because people have bad days. Then the next day when I call he gives me an even worst attitude. And hangs up the phone with me still talking. They will not get anymore of my business. And I advise anyone and everyone to use a different rental/moving company hickory has several more companies to choose from. Beware of Richard, he must not like his job. I hope uhaul sees this review and takes action, I’ve never felt so disrespected for no reason. Just because I needed the truck another day I guess he didn’t feel like doing his job.

Do NOT use this place for storage. I parked my camper here indoors January 2021 and went to pick it up February 26th 2021 for a weekend trip for the first time since I had stored it. I found the electric foot pedal bent to the point it would not sit flush on the ground. When I brought it to their attention, Steve chose to act as if it didn’t happen there. I had not moved the camper out of storage since I initially stored it there in January. To get me out of his way, he informed me I could file a claim knowing that it wouldn’t be covered as they are only insured if fire or flood only. I could have accepted the damages to the camper as accidents happen but considering the guy blatantly acted as if we had parked it their damaged ( this is a 2021 camper that didn’t even have a permanent tag on it yet) and had no concern that they knowingly caused the damage and would not own up to it shows the type of business this is. They pull campers in and out constantly and have no responsibility to the damage they cause and they definitely don’t have a backbone to own up to any damage they cause.

Scheduled an appointment for a trailer hitch installation on 9/30/2020 after a 20 minute hold. Was assured over the phone and a follow up email that the part was in stock and would be installed on 10/6/2020 with an estimated installation timeframe of eight hours. Arrived onsite and confirmed the validity of the eight hour timeline I was quoted on the phone and was happily told it would take an hour and a half at most. While waiting for my ride to pick me up the cashier came up to me and informed me that he was glad I had not yet left and that he did not have the trailer hitch in stock and ordered a new one that should be in by end of day tomorrow and that I should plan on coming back on Thursday for the installation. Nothing was said about the inconvenience this caused even after visible frustration could be seen. I asked why this was just being discovered six days later, to which I did not get much of a response other than a shoulder shrug and a slight apology. there was no effort given to take care of the customer. I can over look long wait times on the phone, I can over look social distancing protocols not being followed (to each there own), I can overlook parts not being in stock but what I can’t overlook is the lack of customer respect and failure to ensure that the customer is taken care of. 6 days. They had 6 days to get their stuff together and failed to do so. I do not recommend this location for your trailer needs.

I asked for a truck and they said they didnt have one but when i got there they had one and when i got back they had 2 they were very short with me and when i got back it also miraculously came to me owing more money 10/10 would not recomend

My review is based not on truck rental but on a trailer hitch/wiring installation. I ordered everything online, only to get there for the installation and find out the parts were back-ordered. It would have been extremely helpful if they could have called me in advance and saved me driving 30+ minutes each way for nothing.I then sourced the parts myself for them complete the install. The wiring appears to have been installed by someone with the automotive capabilities of a 5 year old. The install was extremely sloppy and they took a bunch of shortcuts that could very easily lead to issues in the future all while charging me 2 hours of labor (I will guarantee it took them no longer than 30 minutes). They left the power wire exposed under the vehicle and did not use the wire tubing conduit that was provided on the kit which would have helped since they did not run it as the instructions recommended. Also the wires under the hood were not protected with the supplies included in the kit.Lastly it took quite a while to get the refund back on my card for the original purchase. I wish I had gone elsewhere!

Made an appointment to have a trailer hitch installed. Takes me about 45 minutes to get there. I was told the hitch person does not work that day! Drove there for another appointment the next week. I was told it would take about 3 hours; it took over 4 hours. Drove back to home. When I got home, the wiring was dragging on the ground. None of the wires were secured, just left hanging. Horrible experience. I will not even go back for the warranty to have them fix the botched job. Would not recommend them.

Made an appointment to have a hitch wiring harness installed. Arrived and was told that the employee who does the install already left. Why even show appointment times when there will be no one to install?

Not only did Tom and his staff falsely accuse my brother of STEALING a trailer without during their due diligence as a business Tom felt it was appropriate to bring race into the matter. Without checking paperwork, cameras or EVEN BEING PHYSICALLY IN THE OFFICE, they felt it was appropriate to threaten the actions of law enforcement. I cannot tell you when and where to do business however, I advise Tom to retrain not only himself but his staff on Customer Service or this matter can go well beyond a review on Google.

I went to get my propane tank refilled.They told me they would be out to help. I waited for 40 minutes and no one ever showed up .

Tom and the entire team at Uhaul off Hwy 70 are extremely helpful in every way. Friendly, efficient, clean, and safe storage. I trust them with my RV and other storage needs. Dont go anywhere else.

I dont have enough nice things to say about this location and the staff. They staff is super courteous and efficient and the facilities are clean and well managed. They make the moving process so smooth and the storage areas are taken care of nicely. I highly recommend this location!

Horrible customer service.

Still have not received refund for not having furniture dolly and half the rental price promised by Sal. My husband called today after the 5 days they have had. Sal played dumb even though I have a confirmation from customer service he was planning to refund half.Just the worst customer service nightmare I have ever experienced. Sal the manager was no help and short. I just wanted a truck for a couple more days, since our truck broke down right after receiving and his solution was to give me a 50% discount on a truck that was broke 90% of the time, Just a horrible, horrible experience. Called the regional district manager and received no call back. Calling customer service is a long waste of time. I averaged 45 min. hold times. The only helpful people are roadside assistance. It took 4 tow truck calls and countless screw ups to finally resolve this issue, with no help from the location I rented from.

The storage at this location is clean and secure. The employees were pleasant to deal with and knowledgeable about the truck and storage rental to help me get my items to the storage as well as the most cost effective unit for my needs. Will keep doing business with this location. Great job. A++++

I tried to get a trailer hitch receiver installed and they told me the first time I showed up for my appointment that they basically didn’t have time that day and when I rescheduled and went back for a second time and they told me to come back a few hours later. Then they said they had the wrong hitch. Then I rescheduled again! Just to show up and have the same thing happen again!!! They are in serious need of a tech that knows how to install these receivers. Plus the manager is awful to try and work with.

Trying to rent a trailer and the guy quickly got my card info and name to hold the trailer. when i asked of i could drop off at a local area near my house he quickly said no we need it back here but let me patch your through to someone that may be able to set that up and cancel your card if you wish not to rent and before i could say anything i was put on hold.... been waiting on hold for 10 minutes now!!!!!!!

If I could rate in the negative I would. I own a business and use this for storage. They have a problem with backup of toilets and the smell is unbearable and unsanitary to be in...that fills a stench in the storage area. When they mop the floors the water goes under the doors and anything that is not in a plastic tote or off the floor will get wet if it is near the access door. If you have an issue with your bill or storage unit good luck reaching staff. They never pick up and you always deal with a national number that emails the local staff. No return phone calls. Billing...Ah yes, they do not send bills out on time and then attempt to charge late fees. When I have emailed and called I have gotten no response. I had to drive into the location and then they adjusted the bill for the mistake. I updated my company information and still they sent the bill to the wrong address and for a second month they attempted to charge a late fee. I then had to go in again and have them adjust it. I paid the bill and moved out our supplies and terminated the contract. They just sent me another bill for a unit I am not longer renting. Idiots! Horrible, horrible, incompetent staff, that is overworked and understaffed. It is not worth the money to have items damaged. You get what you pay for and the price reflects the service. I would not recommend this place.

The staff listened and paid attention to what my storage needs were and then suggested a perfect fit to suit those needs. I could not have asked for a more clean, secure facility for my household items. You can tell that the staff take pride in their facility and product. I will be recommending this location to friends and family. Can’t wait to spread the word about both the outdoor covered secured parking and indoor recreational secured parking. I’ve tried getting propane here three times now. If you don’t want to sell propane, I rather someone just tell me that then make me wait until I lose patience and leave after 20-30 minutes.

They are very helpful and friendly! The units are easy to access but very secure. Very clean and have the tools needed to move my things from my truck to my unit.

Dont use this location!! Maybe not even U-haul anymore ... So sad, but Im the 30 yrs Ive used them they seem to have grown too big to care about ethics. Expect the be ripped off over milage and gas even with in-town rental and pay double. TAKE PICTURES OF GAUGES AND TRUCK! Alex and Doug WILL NOT refund you NOTHING that they screw up. They have lost 2 years of our storage fees while we build and still didnt care about making our account right to keep us. They locked us out of the building on our moving day, even though they had rented us a truck and knew we were moving that weekend. Who doesnt tell a customer moving an entire house into a storage facility that you have to pay an extra $8 to get into the unit after business hours?!?! I could have cared less about $8 verses an extra day truck rental forced on us because our stuff had to sit in the truck till they opened the next day!! They still wi not refund that second day truck rental! And expect to sit for at least an hour if your on the second floor and someone else loads their stuff on the freight elevator before you 😖 Worst experience moving!

Was told they dont fill propane after dark because the brightly lit parking lot around the filling station was dark. After a long pause and an awkward silence I was told that they just dont know how to full the tanks.

Alex helped me out today after I had an unfortunate situation with the location in Statesville that I had originally reserved a truck with and I was told that, that location would be open until 6:30 today and once I arrived to pick up my rental at 5:25, IT WAS CLOSED! I had just previously spoken with the authorized locations manager to advised that Id be later getting the truck and to my surprise the gates were locked and I was panic stricken because I had help to move today and there arent any locations in Statesville open on Sunday so I called the 800# to see where I could find a truck near me and I was given this location so back to Hickory I went after leaving Hickory to go to Statesville to get the truck because Im moving there from Hickory and would be returning the truck there. I was really upset that I had wasted a trip to Statesville to end up back in Hickory. Alex really helped me out in a stressful situation today! He didnt even believe that I was 44 after seeing my drivers licenses, he thought I was much younger which just made an irritating and stressful day/move so much better! What a sweet young man! The staff here are the best and this is my preferred Uhaul location.

Rented a van and scheduled to pick up between 6:30-7:00.The agent called back and said he would be leaving at 7:01 regardless. And also said I would have to pay for 2 days because they were closing early the next day. Very rude will never do business with this company again.

Dont believe their advertisements about their pickups having extended rates and mileage because I got told that there wasnt any weekly rates for a pickup truck and that it cost $0.59 per mile after that total guesstimate mileage intended when you were filling out the paperwork before renting the truck.
