Growing up in Illinois, I have always had a great appreciation for John Deere. Hickory Home & Garden made ownership a reality! I needed a powerful walk behind that can climb serious hills. And with my son heading off for college, I needed it more than ever. Our older Honda push mower was on its last leg. They said the commercial would do the best, and they had a used 36 walk behind for an amazing price - below half of new - and it had very low hours too! We took it home and mowed the first night and it was an amazing difference stepping up to commercial quality. WOW! What a difference.

Highly dependable service department. Service technician was knowledgeable and attentive to my requests and descriptions of issues needing repairs. Have always treated me like a customer instead of a number. Fair pricing.

If there hasnt been a visit involving you and Hickory home and garden there needs to be, soon.I will say these guys know their stuff and sometimes may not be very friendly looking but believe you me theyll get you what you need and actually work pretty hard to get it to you so I appreciate the heck out of these guys and the hardware store itself is pretty awesome just dont go there when you have some money to spend be forewarned!!!

Nice people and a good alternative to the Big Box stores for basic items. Very convenient neighborhood store for most needs (hardware and garden products in my case).

Bought air filter for 251 Stihl chainsaw for nearly $16.00. I want to buy local, but not at three times the price on line. A simple filter smaller than the palm of my hand.

I stopped by today to purchase an electric weed trimmer. The staff was friendly and courteous. The young man who helped me was knowledge about the product and patiently answered my questions. Purchased a saw that wouldn’t stay running I had for maybe an hour and took it back and had to pay them to take it back ! Absolutely terrible service

Their customer service to those who call in to the parts department leaves a lot to be desired. They answered the phone parts, hold and didnt return. I waited 10 minutes, disconnected, and called back. The same thing happened. I repeated this process a third time to no avail. This is poor customer service.

Have the knowledge for what you need

These guys have their act together, service was great. I took a part with me to get a new one, found out I could use the old one money saved. Thank you.

Called 20 min before closing to ask a question about one of their products. They picked up and hung up. Did this 4 times. Guess closing time is 20 min early then they post. Been in the store several times, staff don’t seem to want to help. They are also selling mowers over priced with small motors in them. Found this out by comparing their John Deer mowers with ones from the John Deer website.

If you need something for doing around your place. This is the store for you.

My nephew dropped off some chains to be sharpened and paid in advance. An older guy at the counter said he hadnt paid and could tell by how the ticket was written up. A younger guy at the counter looked it up and saw it had been paid. My nephew described the older guy as who he dealt with when he dropped the chains off.

Hometown staple for anybody that does anything outside. Hickory Home and Garden has serviced this community with an impeccable reputation. They service everything you buy from him. Anything you need from fertilizer, seed, tools, they have one of the largest Milwaukee tool assortments available to choose from. Why go to Lowes when you can buy it from a HomeTown vendor whose prices are more cost-effective than the big box stores and he services and warranties on products in house.

Im here to tell ya folks this staff really knows there business. Being spring now youll have a bit of wait time but its worth being patient. They can work on just about any make or model of lawn and garden tractors. Parts are fairly priced . Super knowledgeable and pleasant people to do my business with.

After my Daddy passing almost 3 years ago and family and friends helping my mom with 2 sets of yard work my husband and I decided to take over these duties. We had my dads blower and mower serviced. Both we done in a timley mannor and even helped us after we picked both up and could not get them working properly. It was only operator error never 1 time did they make us feal stupid, just talked us how to do it right. Thank you from the bottom of out heart.

You want deal on a stihl they will do it. everyone else gives you a song and dance. Great deals on Milwaukee Tools too with a super selection. They sell the only grass seed that will actually come up.

I went here today to have my power washer serviced. Went inside, and was immediately greeted by someone willing to help. He started to take our information when another guy came over and asked if we had purchased the power washer there after he listened to our conversation. When we said no, he immediately snapped back at us in a very confrontational manner and said they wouldnt work on anything they didnt sell because they were so backed up. He gave us a card to have someone else do it. We felt as though he was stereotyping us because we drove our old farm truck and were filthy from doing yard work. In reality, thats very far from the truth. We called back later to see if they would help us. We told them where we live and our titles, and sure enough, he told us to bring in our equipment. If there is a policy of not repairing equipment that wasnt purchased there, then it should be enforced on every customer. Extremely inconsistent customer service and very unprofessiona personnel. Additionally, they have lost a future prospective customer and Ill be sure to let others know of my experience there.Replying to owners comment-I understand that there might be a policy in place, but what I dont understand is why was it not enforced when I called and was told to bring in my product? It was a very INCONSISTENT experience and because of that I felt unfairly treated.

Our service department is aware of your situation. We had our Briggs and Stratton representative look at your engine, and he declared that your motor was ran without engine oil. We were unable to assist with the issue at hand due to that reason.

Been using HH&G for years, i have now bought 3 lawnmowers there personally due to their wonderful customer service, I always ask for Tommy! Hes the man!

They were great,parts man found what I needed.

DO NOT GO THERE!I took my new mower there because the engine blew up with only 10 hours on it. They tried to tell me that it blew up because it didnt have oil in it. Then they told me that it did have oil in it when they looked at it but said they drained oil out of it to look at it. They tore the engine apart and told me that Deere wouldnt cover it under warranty. I went there and they were very rude to me and told me they didnt care what I said, they wouldnt cover the engine. They then offered to sell me a new engine for $750. I told them I wasnt fixing it and I wanted the mower back. They charged me $30 to look at it and then told me it wouldnt be covered under warranty. They gave me the mower and the original engine back. The engine was in a box in pieces. I took everything to another John Deere dealer and they replaced the engine under warranty for free.. They told me it was a manufacturer defect that caused the failure, not me.Dont waste your money there. Find another dealer.

Called ahead about my flat tire on my lawn mower and asked if they had the tire and rim. They said bring it in and it wouldnt cost me but 10.00 to mount a tire to the old rim. I went to Lowes and bought a special tire iron to remove the tire.I then loaded in my car and drove from Lincolnton. Had to park at the other bldg down from the equipment sales building. Carried the large tire in and stood in line at the parts department. The person at the counter told me I have to leave it with them. I explained that i live in Lincolnton. He said that there was nothing he could do. I asked if they could at least put some air in it. He said take it to a service station. I then drove up the road to the first service station I could find. I was about to unload the tire when a guy walked up from the Quick Lube next door and asked if I needed help. I told him the tire was flat. He said our air is free He took it over there and pumped it up for me. Random kindness from a stranger. Grateful for that.
