I have been a Gold King Customer for years Bout since the Beginning and Everytime I am Given aFair price or if Hes Not interested he will send me to a place that is interested always leads me in the right direction. I had some antique furniture and gold jewelry I was needing to sell. After taking it to several places I found the Gold King and was offered a MUCH more fair price. Their offer was several hundred dollars more than every other shop I went to for a price quote!Ive told friends and family and have heard back from many of them saying they had great experiences dealing with the gold king. Marty is one of the best buyers of gold and silver that I know of and well top any dollar amount that any other place will give you without even trying. Ive went to him numerous times over the last 10 years and have never not one time had a bad experience. Also I was reading some of the other reviews and just like the shop that I run people often get places confused with Walmart which has rigorous company policies and customer service protocols to make sure that every single person is spoken to treated and whatever because their corporation but when it comes to small shops and family-run businesses Im sure he feels the same way that he would rather you just leave with your problems that you came with instead of unloading them. Did NOT have a good experience with Mr. McDaniel. I am trying to sell a bunch of my grandparents and parents stuff, brought the first load to The Gold King just to see if he was a fair dealer or was going to screw me. He asked me a couple questions about how much I was going to ask for each piece, I explained that, if I sold the stuff on eBay it looked like it would go for x dollars, had already mentioned that I knew each piece would go for less if I sold it to a reseller such as himself but he seemed too stupid to connect the two dots and assumed I was asking too much. As a result, my meeting with him was a complete waste of time resulting in a zero dollar sale. Your time is better spent meeting with resellers who understand what you might be trying to say

I have lived in Hickory for 8 years and have had a few locals tell me to go to Gold King. I was with my dad and decided to check them out and was looking forward to seeing gold and silver coins for a possible purchase. We were barely greeted by a surly clerk that seemed annoyed by our presence. We inquired about buying gold coins and the clerk responded by saying We dont have anything to sell right now. The store was extremely disorganized and messy and there was a case filled with piles of various coins and some other trashy looking items. I asked her if anything was for sale in the case and she said, Thats all fake. She was very dismissive and curt. Needless to say we left in a hurry and will never return. Ive read their responses to other poor reviews and the owners tone is arrogant, insulting and defensive. If you want to be treated rudely and with disrespect, you should definitely go there. Gold King should be renamed Gold Fink!

I have been going to the gold king for quite a while now and every time I go they offer top dollar and pay in cash, I take costume and real and they take the time to look over and check every piece out and even make a offer on the costume jewelry, I like going and just talking to Marty, very smart man and can tell you all kinds of stuff about antiques and collectibles, the gold King is the best at what they do and I will always recommend them to anyone

I was pretty disappointed in our visit. After mom told the lady behind the counter why we were there, all she said was drop it on the floor. She then told us she would have to go get the owner. After she got him, he seemed more interested in showing her what he found in the back instead of listening to her as to why we were there. He barely acknowledged that my mom and I were there. The first thing he said to us was Did yall just come from a yard sale? He didnt say Hey or ask how we were doing. When he finally came around the counter, he barely looked at anything we had. He basically said we had junk and said we would have better luck selling it at a yard sale. It just seemed really rude. As that guy stated, these are truly rip-off artists. They offered me $24 TOTAL for a 10k white gold amethyst ring, 14k gold ring with several diamonds, 14k white gold ring with rather large diamonds, and a silver antique ring. I was in disbelief at how much these people LOWBALL. Then, afterwards, I went to a pawn shop and got offered $300 for the SAME EXACT rings! Go figure. Dont go here unless you want to give your jewelry for basically free or get ripped off.

I seen a ring on market place went to gold king on star town rd. I looked liked it he came down 100$ on it so I could get it sized well it ended up costing me another 216 @ jewelry exchange because the shank was broken and it was missing a diamond just be cautious really look hard at what youre buying

I was there today, We just moved here from New England but are originally from West Virginia. I thought the owner was okay, he was more interested in my grandfathers military discharge orders from 1805 then the things I was there to get information on. I had found a coin wrapped in the military orders that I had questions on, along with some inherited pottery!However I was highly unimpressed when I realized he had no idea what he was looking at! My family has a rich Military History, my great grandfather, grandfather, father, uncle an husband all fought in wars none of the same! When he looked up at some other guy and said are these worth anything I spoke up and said again not for sale and the man shook his head no! LolHe hadnt even seen them number 1, Second they do have a value along with his photos, flight wings and metals in which I have all of! Like I said, they were never for sale!I do have a lot of costume jewelry that dates back to 1800s, I had it with me but choose to leave without showing it! They are marked Sterling & Silver spelled out on the back. Which is a huge indicator that its 1800s jewelry. However after his comments on the other things I had .. Like pottery he was quick to put it down, Even after telling me it did have a small value . His reasoning because it was not from North Carolina!As a glass collector myself, I was pretty shocked to hear that! My home state is West Virginia, a place to be for glass lovers! However, my wings spread wide to Fire King Jadite and Anchor Hocking from its first year wrapped securely in its original in box.Just because its not made in your home state dont make it junk.. This world is full of beautiful treasures from everywhere. Gold King maybe but other antiques, I would recommend seeing someone different. Rip Off artists!!!!! I was offered 26.00 for a $900.00 ring. PLUS I was told by their Diamond expert that the diamond I had was a fake, even though it had been previously certified by a gemologist as a VVS1 diamond 20 years ago.
