We bought a stick radio for our 2016 Subaru Outback. Everything worked except our GPS. We called Armstrong and we told them our Subaru didnt come with GPS, but our new radio had it and we would like to see if we could get it to work. They made us an appointment. After 4 hours and $119, they told us that we couldnt get GPS because our Outback didnt come with a sunroof. It took 4 hours for them to realize we didnt have a sunroof?!?!? I dont think so. But 4 hours and over $100 dollars were wasted. We feel as if we have. Even cheated.
I actually was visiting here with a friend, who had their car serviced. As it happens, as I was following him I was almost in a car accident caused by a lady driving too fast. I wasnt involved in the accident, but getting off the exit some debris from the accident get stuck under my car, but it worked itself free as we slowly, with our safety blinkers on, continued to my friends appointment. I was very impressed with this company and the kind man, who offered to put my car on a lift and check it underneath for any damage. His doing this gave me confidence to continue driving my car back to Kannapolis without worry. Sometimes a moment of kindness like this can mean everything to another person!!! Thank you, sir, for taking that time to give me reassurance!!! I would definitely recommend this company!!!
I dont normally go through a dealership because I feel like they will want to get as much out of you as they can, but that wasnt my experience here. Very kind and knowledgeable staff that go beyond expectations. My car has a problem that has proven to be very difficult to figure out but they have been very patient about it and understanding about my financial situation and help to find me the cheapest route. Would definitely recommend Jim Armstrong Subaru for all your vehicle needs!
I went to the dealership because I was having issues with my transmission. I called the day before and spoke with Cody who quoted me a price of $2000 for a new transmission. After test driving my car he called and told me the issue could be the valve body and that it would be around $1300 to replace but he couldn’t guarantee that this would solve the problem. I asked why would I do that instead of getting a new transmission? He started telling me that he didn’t like quoting prices and I said well you did and I couldn’t understand why they were pushing me to get the valve block instead of a new transmission. I asked to speak with his boss and was hung up on. When I called back I was put in touch with Trevor who was aggressively rude from the start of our conversation. I asked him the same question I asked Cody why would I buy a part and pay that much money when it wasn’t guaranteed? He said he stood by their technicians and kept talking about the quote I was giving by Cody. I told him it was the price I was concerned with just didn’t want to waste my money. He keep on telling me they don’t quote prices and I asked him just to stop with all the rhetoric about the quote that I didn’t care about the price. He started yelling and said he was not going to be cussed at. I had two people with me when I was speaking to him and put them on speaker and they both told him he was mistaken. He continued to call me a liar and I said I couldn’t believe that they would talk to a customer the way he was talking to me. I asked to speak to his boss and he put me on hold and came back and said she had nothing to say to me and would not come to the phone. I told him I would be calling someone from Subaru. He then told me they were not going to do any work on my vehicle and I said I wouldn’t want them to work on my car and regretfully I did cuss Trevor after a horrible exchange that should have never happened to a customer. After hanging up I called the dealership and asked to speak with Laura the manager. She came on and was very nice and understanding and told me she was on a conference call and that she had not refused to speak with me. I explained what had happened and how upset I was over the way Trevor had treated me. She did offer to have my car dropped off at place of business which I truly appreciate. I have bought a outback from this dealership and had my vehicle survived there many times. I will never buy or recommend anyone to buy or use this dealership for anything. If this behavior is accepted and tolerated which I feel like it is every potential customer needs to be aware of what could happen to them
I am from Winston-Salem and no one could locate a 2022 Outback Touring XT. They kept saying they were looking. I couldnt even get a price at home. Last week, I called Jim Armstrong Subaru. They did not have one, but gave us a ballpark figure of what one would cost. They said they knew of another dealer with what I wanted. That was all Thursday morning and by late evening, they had located the vehicle and had it at the dealership. They held it for a week and we made the trip up purchases it. All so easy and seamless. All honest, caring and professional personnel. I highly recommend them!
Excellent service in their Service Department. Took car back immediately and fixed 3 items under warranty. In addition, helped us set up the face recognition mode for both my husband and I. Extremely pleasant experience and well worth the hour+ drive there.
Very impressed with this dealership, which already came highly recommended from a close friend. I brought my (Boomer) mother here to help her select and possibly purchase a Subaru. I will be back when Im ready to buy my own next vehicle. From the pre-visit, test-drive visit, ordering the exact Outback Premium she wanted, through to signing & delivery - there was nothing but great customer service. No pressure *at all*, no bait & switch, no surprises. Just helpful information, guidance, and fair pricing. It helps that Subarus pretty much sell themselves.
Cannot say enough good things about my experience buying a car with these folks. I live a little over an hour away, so I had called ahead to inquire about the availability of my dream car. Mike Miller had the exact car I wanted waiting for me to test drive. The pricing was simple and fair, and the whole process from start to finish was quick and easy. I never felt pressured at all. Mike Houser in financing was extremely helpful, answered all my questions, and made me feel like a valued customer. These people have been in the business for a long time and they know how to treat people. I would recommend this place to anyone in the market for a new car. I am absolutely thrilled with my new Forester!
The staff is extremely friendly knowledgeable and courteous. They doing amazing work I dont trust my Subaru with anyone else. They are 100% outstanding.
Jim Armstrong Subaru was recommended to me for its honest, friendly, and personal service. My experience with the staff exceeded my expectations! Walked in on a Monday and drove out Thursday with the car of my dreams. Thank you Mike, Jim, Terry and Mike for great service & great price.
As Far As My Past Dealership Experience 😇 Jim Armstrong Is The Very BEST In The United States Of America 👍 The Two MIKES And Terrible Are One Of A KIND 📛 And Simply Amazing 🥰 They Treat The Customer As They Themselves Like And Expect To Be Treated 😂I Meant TERRI ☺️ Instead Of The Word Terrible ☺️
Amazing. We were there all of 2 hours and walked off with a very low mileage, practically new car for an amazing price.
Great service and wonderful place to buy autos.
The best car dealership I have ever dealt with! These folks are the absolute best!
Everyone was friendly in the service dept. Even though I had called the night before to secure a loaner, I was still ask, are you needing a loaner vehicle today. A little communication or notes on my appointment would have been great. The vehicle Im driving must not have an antenna on it, it literally picks up 3 radio stations. Not one mechanic was wearing a mask and the guy that helped me at the counter wasnt wearing one when I walked in but put one on. Several women that were reporting to work also didnt have one on. I guess this business decided they wouldnt follow the current mandate.
My Subaru threw transmission codes. The service dept. worked me in quickly. They were pleasant and efficient. Had the repair done and they also took care of airbag recall. Kinda pricey but much less than a new transmission. Very upfront about what they found and what was required to repair. No complaints.
Very honest the way they do business. friendly and helpful
Enjoyed my experience working with them to get my new vehicle. Mike Houston was very helpful
By far, the best car buying experience Ive ever had. Painless in every way, taken care of like a long time friend. Took the time to find me the exact car I wanted, and not try to sell me something I didnt want. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Big Thanks to the Mikes, and Terri who has been extremely helpful in helping me learn about my car.Thank you all!!
Best auto buying experience ever!No games, straightforward
We were there after hours so no interaction with the Salesforce. The inventory appeared to be extremely low.
I gave 5 stars cause that’s all it has. Tammy in the parts department was a laugh fest hoot. Awesome lady going above and beyond. 👍🏻👍🏻David the service tech also laugh a minute guy. And one of the most informative techs I’ve meet. Explained in detail some of the issues going on.Initially we had the oil changed at one of the 10minute lube places (Strickland brothers)2018 legacy never leaked a drop of oil until the quick lube people got a hold of it.But David made quick work of replacing the plug. Unfortunately I did have to foot the bill for a second oil change but that’s ok. David went over that thing in intimate detail. Didn’t catch the young mans name at the service desk but he like the rest of the people there were awesome super nice and left us with a smile. Thank you Armstrong Subaru for saving the day on my wife’s car. 👍🏻👍🏻Sincerely, Alan the Orkin man.
We drove 1hr 30 minutes to get a car deal and unfortunately, we meet a guy named MIKE HOUSER, he was showing us the car. I would definitely say, I have never seen a rude guy like him. When we asked to get us a better deal (just told to reduce $250 in a $31000 car) he was like throwing our papers to the dustbin and showing us the gate. He also told us not to steal the car (with a serious note, not at all funny) when we were asking for a test drive. We are engineers in a Tier1 manufacturing company and we know how to behave with people. I reminded guy, youre being rude, hes just dont care. I would never recommend this place to anyone. He totally made our day a bad one.
Uli and Mariah in the service department were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Great customer service and I think they were even smiling behind their masks. Thanks for the safe and helpful interaction!
Mike Abernethy was amazing start to finish. Although Subaru’s sell themselves Mike Abernethy made our purchase of a 2021 Crosstrek easy and pleasant. We love our Crosstrek and recommend Mike and his high quality service, expertise and personality to anyone looking for a vehicle.
Another Subaru service center said my transmission needed to be replaced and it would be $8,600. My dad called Jim Armstrong Subaru and they were so upfront about everything, telling us what could be the specific problem with the transmission (which wouldnt require an entire replacement). They offered to diagnose it for less than $60 (my regular Subaru service center estimated $1,000 to diagnose) and ended up fixing the actual problem rather than replacing my entire transmission like the original service place wanted to do. I am incredibly grateful to those at Jim Armstrong!
I feel that the salesman couldnt care less if I bought the car there or not.I told him that 2 years ago I came to purchase an outback and he would not negotiate so I left and bought my outback somewhere else. He said we can still be friends. Duh!
Quick, In and out.
Nice looking place, issue was with service department, closing the hood is something that should be done before pulling a vehicle out of the shop, had it flipped up while driving yall wouldve had a liability issue (05 impreza RS-black) Holden/Bushard
I’m extremely satisfied with the great work from the service techs. I’m also greatly pleased by the excellent customer service Ulysses and Mariah provided. I highly recommend Jim Armstrong Subaru of Hickory, NC.
First time using service departmentEveryone was great. Will definitely bring my outback for service again
Went for a recall, it was fixed very fast
Their service department is excellent. Had taken my Subaru to another dealership 4x and they couldnt find the problem. Jim Armstrong Subaru was able to figure out the problem in a matter of minutes. Theyve been great to call and keep me informed. Very pleased!
This was my first time buying a Subaru and Jim Armstrong Subaru is by far the best place to purchase a vehicle. Mike was awesome!!! Our buying experience was so easy and hassle free. I recommend this dealership to anyone looking to buy a car. I absolutely love my 2020 Forester Sport.
I am a huge Subaru enthusiast and this should in no way shape or form sway your decision of purchasing a Subaru. However I would highly recommend taking your business elsewhere. My Experience:So as far as I can tell my car was serviced properly (valve cover gaskets, spark plugs) and everyone I dealt with in the service department was great. Good guys.. and backed the work with a 1 year guarantee. However, when I went to pay my bill it was a bit over what was discussed over the phone (to be expected) so I brought a little extra cash (not much because I had to get 4 new tires the day before). So in the end I ended up being short $2.18 on my card, daughter of Ms. Armstrong ran the card for $312.77 so I asked if they could please bill me the $2.18. They refused and said full payment was due before I could have my car back. First of all, I spoke to them the day before to confirm price because of the tire situation, it was confirmed nothing would be an issue. The service manager was even nice enough to offer to drop the payment to $300 as promised, but Ms. Armstrong wouldnt let him. I have never been treated so unfairly. The owners of this dealership do not embody the morals based around the Subaru community that I love so much. Thankfully in the end my girlfriend loaned me the $2.18 so I could get my car back.
Great service as usual!
Great place to do business
Great folks, best service dept around
New to the state and the area. Visited this dealership with intent just to see what my options were. Was not greeted, completely ignored for close to a half hour wandering around the grounds and inside while the receptionist was preoccupied with personal business. Finally greeted rather dryly, the owner showed me to a vehicle I wanted to test. Afterward I met briefly with the top sales guy Mike, he was short with me, rude and really seemed entirely unhappy with my presence. It was decided Id come back to purchase said vehicle a few days later. Myself and my husband returned as promised and Mikes attitude was improved but still impersonable.A few days ago I emailed to inquire about my tags only to be told Id be required to get an inspection before that process could happen. Its a brand new car and they let me buy it, leave with it and drive it nearly a month without one. Today Ive been informed that is against N.C. law. I honestly had no intent of thinking about this worst experience of car buying let alone adding a review but after finding out this last bit of info Id had it!! Moreover, reading these other reviews solidified for me that my perception of the experience wasnt at all misplaced. Buy a Subaru but spend your money elsewhere!
Very dissatisfied, the salesman Mike Houser treated us very poorly acted like we were just taking up his precious time and would not be bothered to help us in any way I have delt with Subaru before and I loved it this was by far the worst experience .I will never return here and would not recommend going here to anyone .I seen another bad review about this same Salesman if I were you guys I would get rid of that type of person he will only hurt your business .
Staff was polite and friendly. Service technician let me know what was needed.
Fast friendly competent service with a pleasant waiting Room.
We have purchased 3 Subarus from the great folks at Jim Armstrong, over the last 8 years. That may not seem like much, but it has been more than enough to build a great relationship with the people there. The sales team is small, extremely knowledgable, and just really good people. You will not be pounced on by some grifter of a salesman that was selling vacuums the week before. Their team has been there for years, and they really do care that the customer is satisfied and happy. We moved about 90 minutes away several years ago, but still have family in the area and will stop in to say hello a few times a year. They always know us by name, ask about our family, and just catch up. They are simply good people. I have recommended them to many people over the years, and we would not hesitate to buy from them again in the future. We have also had very good experiences with their service dept. No issues with any work they have done for us. The lobby/waiting area is always impeccably clean, comfortable, and particularly inviting in the winter time when the fireplace is going. The folks at Jim Armstrong have always taken fantastic care of us and our S ubarus; it really is just that simple....
Excellent customer service.
I like the fact that they are honest. They do their best to get you into a car. If they cant they tell you.
The staff is welcoming, relatively comfortable waiting area, coffee and water. If youre here for purchasing a car, they provided very transparent information on a deal that suited my needs, and worked with me to get to that point. If youre here for servicing, quick turn around, easy access, and prices were very good for the service provided.
By far the best customer experience buying a car that my wife and I have ever had! Not at all pushy, they let us weigh our options and they took the time to make sure we understood the technology of the car. Both of the Mikes and Terri are a credit to their organization.
Easiest car buying experience ever. Mike Miller was great. Not at all pushy. They gave me a nice price for my trade in. I left with a new Forester and happy with the deal I got. Ill definitely go there for service and highly recommend them to anyone in the market for a no hassle car buying experience.
Took my 2002 Subaru WRX here for an inspection while I was in Hickory, told them what the car had aftermarket wise and they failed the car on the inspection. Took it to my local place to have them inspect it but since this dealership ran the car completely through the inspection process they were not able to inspect the car. Its a huge headache and I dont have time to BS around especially near the holidays. Huge waste of time and money, all for an O2 sensor...
This dealership is fantastic. I went in to buy a car on their lot with a car to trade and drove out an hour later. No joke. I had done my research, and they respected that. I got a very fair deal and great financing thru Subaru vs. my bank I had planned to use. Highly, highly recommend.
The service department was excellent! They diagnosed my problem over the phone, got me in immediately and accommodated my needs for a quick turn around because of my job! They were all courteous, professional, and friendly. One of the best experiences Ive had with an auto shop. Will be taking my car back for sure.
We have bought 4 cars from Jim Armstrong over the years, and always recommend them when were asked about our Subarus. Always friendly staff and never a hassle to deal with. Service department is very polite and knowledgeable.
Service and parts were fantastic! They helped me out with a last minute install on 9/10.
Made appointment for my convenience. Quick service, on time, nice staff, clean and comfortable waiting area
I took my Forester to Jim Armstrong for service twice in December, both times the service staff were professional, courteous and knowledgeable. The mechanic, David, took time to explain the problem with my Forester and saved the warn parts to show me the problem. These guys are great. I highly recommend this service department.
First time buying a car on my own. Buying was easy but once all the paper are signed, the guy who handle the financing starting to be rude and nasty attitude.Been a few years since but customers will remember your service.Like other comments here, buy somewhere else.
These guys are a class act. Very knowledgeable and treat their customers with great respect.
These guys really have it together. Best car-buying experience Ive ever had. Very friendly service, fast, and good price too. Cant say enough good things about Jim Armstrong Subaru.
Just bought a 2018 Forester from Mike Abernathy. Best car buying experience Ive ever had. Laid back no hassle. Like catching up with an old friend.
Bought my first Subaru here, great service, not pushy like some dealers, Highly recommend them to anyone who asks.
Excellent. We are shopping for a new car. Agent Mike was very helpful and answered all our questions and allowed a test drive. We have more shopping to do but will most likely return here.
For buying or servicing, they are the best Ive found! The whole team works together to make sure you are served, rather than competing for commission. Service Dept is friendly, helpful and prompt.
Went with the wife to kook at cars she had seen one online wanted to go look it over. She was looking at a Subaru BRZ they had 2 both were 6 speed Manual she was leaning toward Automatic. Her MINI COOPER S was Automatic she figured she would be happier with Automatic.
Have purchased 3 vehicles from Jim Armstrong Subaru. They have/had four employees there ALL named Mike. We have found all the Mikes great to deal with. It feels like youre dealing with family when you go there. VERY PLEASED.
Friendly and courteous staff always. No hassle!
Great service department. Friendly courteous staff. Love our Subarus!
Mr. Forrester dealt with us personally. He was professional, helpful, gracious.
We took our car into the service area. We have a 2017 Legacy 3.6R and they put a non recommended diff fluid in our car. The fluid they put in (75w-90 gear oil)was only to be used if they did not have the proper MT fluid (recommended by the owners manual). When we called and ask about this they had no idea what we were talking about even after we read them the words from the owners manual. The guy said oh they are the same weight and it if fine. I take my car to the dealer to get the right service. If this is what I wanted we could go to Jiffy Lube. No happy to have to pay for bad service experience - especially when we called the Johnson City dealer and they said they would recommended changing the fluid for the MT as soon as possible.
They went above and beyond to make my car buying seamless and easy, they stuck to there word on everything they said they would do,I will definitely buy from here again, and they also referred me to a great stereo installer!!!
They took about 5 hours to complete service that they said would only take 2 hours. The people in the shop were very nice none-the-less.
First time getting my Subaru serviced here but they were quick and explained any needed repairs that would be needed. Fair prices and quick and friendly service.
I called to ask about the particular trim level of a used vehicle. The salesman told me he was not sure and didnt really offer to help me find an answer. Yeah I think its that one. I leave work early to drive down and find out for myself. I arrive and ask to test drive the vehicle. I am given a temporary paper to test drive it, and he walks away...apparently I am going on my own. I come back to talk about my trade in and am told that he doesnt know much about my car, he would have to call some guys... TOMORROW. You mean to tell me that I left work early to buy a car....and you cant even give me a trade in value?!! Never in my life have I been treated as if they could give a crap if they sold a car that day, or not. I went to about 8 dealerships in the same week. All of which acted like the earth stopped and they were extremely focused on what I had to say... NOT HERE. I was told he handles 90% of trades. Well, did I get a call the next day? NOPE. Could he give a crap? NOPE. Did I buy my car down the street? SURE DID. I will never return.
Took great care of my car. Even ran the vin for recalls and performed them. A+
Best place ever to get a car! Best experience with sales and service! Will get my next car here too! So happy with the whole place... thank you!!
The parts department is first class. When the part I needed was no longer available they helped me find it online. Everything else I have needed has been ordered and received in a timely fashion.
Purchase many vehicles from this dealer and have never been dissatisfied
Fantastic service, honest and polite professional staff! Purchased a well cared for 02 Z28 Camaro with 239,000 miles that had been served by Jim Armstrong for 13 years. The white Z28 has been flawless in reliability and is often mistaken for a low mile car. Best dealership experience, Ive ever had and Ive been buying new and pre-owned cars since 1986.
Very personable staff
Always a friendly place, clean, nice waiting area, great service in and out in less than an hour.
Very poor treatment of Veterans. My wife and I both Marine Corps Veterans stopped in to look at a 2004 honda accord ex sedan with 107000 miles for $7990 and we test drove it and really liked the vehicle but went in to see about purchasing the car and sales rep Mike houser started writing price quote so, I decided to jump in to negotiate the price letting them know that I was thinking more like $6000 to $6500 but I was willing to negotiate higher and rep said no and wouldnt haggle price or even try and sell it to me so we then thanked each other for our time and my wife and I left.Well we called back a few times with some offers which were all turned down then we spoke to the rudest person of all Mike Abernathy whom we got a breakdown of the price and fees which included a $500 dealer doc fee and we wanted an itemized list of what it included so we knew if the car was worth purchasing.Mr. Abernathy became very rude at this point saying he was wasting my time that I needed to go some where else and that it didnt matter what fees they did or didnt have that he would always work the price to make sure the car isnt sold for less than $7700 because it belonged to a neighbor of Mr. Armstrong. If this is how Mr. Armstrong conducts business I hope that this review helps warn people.
Polite and efficient
Bought my 2015 Subaru Forester Touring Eyesight/Nav here and was very pleased with the whole experience. Mike Miller was my salesperson, and he had the paperwork done in no time! These folks arent your typical high-pressure sales folks like youd find at a large, high-volume dealer, and they make sure you have plenty of time to weigh the pros and cons of each auto you might be considering, and gladly answered all my questions until I chose my Forester, which I love! Now its time for my first service.
This is my 4th car from this dealership - love Subaru brand- but buy here because of friendly staff and service dept - they never push unneeded service - outstanding dealership - and no I am not a relative of the owner or any of employees
Have bought two Outbacks a 2013 and now a 2015. Great to deal with got the car we wanted in just a couple days with the options i wanted and color wife wanted. The new Outbacks drive and ride like nothing we have ever had before. (Camry Accord Impala) Nothing compares. My wife loves the power lift gate and ease of getting in and out. The AWD has proven itself time and time again as wifes job involves going to rural homes. Wife likes service department and waiting area with free drinks and wifi. The only thing we ever needed on 2013 was wiper blades and they were covered under warranty. I couldnt believe it so i looked it up. Sure enough wiper blades, brake pads, belts and hoses covered for 3/36.Thanks Mike for a great deal on a great car.
Would not recommend, went in looking for a new car. Not a single person greeted me or even said hi after walking a lot for about 30 minutes. So unless they think you look like you have money they are probably not going to help you
They Have Great Employees! They Care About Their Customers! We Have 2 Subaru Imprezias! Love Them! We Give Jim Armstrong Subaru 5 Cars Out Of 5 Cars!🚘🚘🚘🚘🚘!
Great people and a great place to bye a car
My family has purchased five vehicles from this dealership over the years. I cannot imagine anyone not being satisfied if they were treated the way we have always been treated. There is NO sales pressure and even though I continue to buy from them, I always check other dealers on price. Ive never been able to beat them on price either. Thats comparing dealers in the Charlotte, Winston-Salem, and Tri-Cities, TN area. All the folks at Jim Armstrong are exceptional, but we usually deal with Mike Abernathy. Top notch dealer and saleman.
The service department is without peer. From friendly, courteous to professional the service provided is the best I have ever come across.
My brother got his car “fixed” here and exactly 1 week later my brothers car started to mess up again and he took it back by the dealership to have them replace and he told them he wasn’t paying for a service that should have been provided the first time. The guy told my brother that he could sue them and get lost for all he cared. Do not get your cars from here or get them fixed from here, they do not offer guarantee for there service.
Worst auto service experience of my life! My 2006 Subaru Outback wouldnt take gas so I dropped it off here. First they misdiagnosed the problem costing me $202. They said it was fixed and took fuel, but after I picked it up I immediately found out that it wouldnt. They then recommended replacing the fuel tank, as the other option would be a rarely stuck roll over valve. They replaced the tank with a used tank, as they recommended to save money, but they didnt properly clean the tank and it almost immediately clogged and ruined the fuel pump. Also, my car was covered with rust speckles from the front bumper to the rear quarter panels, which they were totally clueless of but later cleaned. Still noticing the paint speckle rusting quicker after that incident. They also lost my file and upon picking it up couldnt even run the bill. They called me back the next business day to collect the money, which is the ONLY time they ever called me back, but didnt know that I had my car towed back to their service department to be worked on because it was still messed up (which was their doing as I had never had fuel pump issues prior to them servicing it). They replaced the fuel pump and didnt charge me for the labor involved, as they shouldnt have, but I still had to pay for the fuel pump which was their fault to begin with! After many calls that were never returned, I went by to pick up my vehicle for the THIRD time and met with the owner, J. Armstrong Jr. We agreed upon reducing my second bill of $1100.16 by $300. The total cost was then $202 for the 1st bill and $800 for the 2nd bill. One of the worst parts of this nightmare was that it took them 6 and a half weeks to fix my outback. However, 2 months later my car died so I had it towed ($50) to Modern Subaru of Boone where they said and put in writing that the fuel pump looked used or aftermarket, and the clips being used were the wrong size and would not stay connected, which is what caused the car to die. This cost me $123 and put my life in danger, as the fuel pump pumped fuel into the undercarriage of my vehicle. Then, Armstrong Jr. told me he would not reimburse this $173 because he had already lost money on me. I found this out after going to see them because again, they failed to ever call me back.If you have the option, I would HIGHLY recommend avoiding the service department of Jim Armstrong Subaru of Hickory, NC. Everyone there is nice, but their customer service and their auto service are absolutely HORRIBLE.
Have a new Forester. Makes 2 new. Super place to buy a new car. Super service department too!
Best place around to buy the best car. See Mike A. !!!
Awesome place to get stuff done to your vehicle.
If I could rate this experience higher I would! When my car was totaled by a driver who was texting (!) I dreaded having to deal with car dealers, my last experience at Toyota of North Charlotte having been an absolute nightmare. I found a car I liked on line and called Jim Armstrong Subaru. I talked to Mike Abernethy and asked for his best price. He quoted me the total price over the phone, which was about $500 less than I was expecting to pay. I was hesitant to drive an hour to buy a car and concerned that once I got there the price would change (as it did at the Toyota dealer) but arranged to go up there after work. When I arrived, the car was in front of the dealer, and Mike took my drivers license and I test drove the car. When I arrived back at the dealer, I told him I wanted to buy it. All paperwork was completed in less than 15 minutes! There were no bait and switch tactics, no hidden fees, and the price I paid was exactly what he quoted me over the phone. I was amazed that it took less than 30 minutes including the test drive for me to buy the car. The dealership was extremely low pressure, and the finance guy did not try to sell me anything. All of the people I encountered at the dealership were friendly and professional. Best of all was the car, it is absolutely immaculate! The interior was so clean it looks like a new car. I have only had the car for two days but am thrilled with my purchase. Jim Armstrong Subaru has just gained a customer for life!
We were thoroughly impressed with the knowledge of their service dept. and will definitely be returning there as a customer.
