The Blizzards are good and the service was good, but they barely have any actual food at all. Ive lived in somewhere around 22 different cities in 6 different states, and traveled through more than that, and this is THE ONLY dairy queen Ive ever seen just not carry chicken strips at all. They had like two kinds of sandwiches and like two kinds of hot dogs, and thats it. The rest was all just ice cream and junk food. This location operates as a glorified concession stand, not a diner.
We tried their butterscotch dip and chocolate dip icecream cones. Chocolate dip was really good, butterscotch turned out to be a little on the sweeter side and did not have much of the flavor. I would definitely want to go back and try other items on their menu.
They have the best icecream and i like their shakes. Chocolate shake was my favourite.
Visited this place for having an icecream. Nice and small place. Neatly maintained. Icecream here tastes good.
They no longer have butterscotch malts, and the butterscotch dip cone has no butterscotch flavor, but the rest of the menu is good.
We love this Herndon staple. DQ has been here forever. Friendly and always delicious!
Its a bit run down but its located right off the trail and in the center of town. Great place to stop on a summer evening.
To start, I wanted to order just lunch and the employee said I could order dessert at the same time. I assumed that he would hold off on making the deserts until we were ready. Instead he made then immediately. We were only given 1 napkin and I had to ask for extras. Instead of getting water from the soda machine, he had us get it from the water fountain. Not crazy about that during times of covid. I just felt like all he wanted to do was get us out of his shop. Will definitely just take the extra time and drive out to Leesburg next time.
Cute little shop in old town Herndon. The variety is as expected and the service is friendly.
Ice cream was okay, store was dirty!
Great ice-cream as always.
Excellent! Great Customer service
Enjoyed our icecream!
I have visited this location a few times now and the service and cleanliness has continued to decline rather than improve. On my most recent visit the staff was disorganized and rude. I was one of two patrons ordering from the counter and after waiting over ten minutes for service I finally gave up and left. They were too busy making and giving orders to Uber drivers and online patrons to be bothered with my order. In hindsight I probably dogged a bullet in that the restaurant was filthy despite no patrons eating at the tables. The freezer had particularly eaten treats in it that were uncovered. I didn’t see the staff wash their hands once despite handling packing boxes and other non-food items between making items.I strongly recommend that this location be avoided so that a better option can move in after they go out of business.
Great ice-cream selection. Great job Ray!!!
The chocolate dipped ice cream cone is the bomb! My wife likes the blizzards.
Good ice cream on a hot Day
I have always gone to this location and recently this one person has not been very pleasant with customers, specially today. I went in as usual and ordered for the family and the girl who was on duty today had a really bad attitude again. I went back to the place because whip cream was missing from my coffee moolata and she goes on to say well you should have ordered that with your order before because it is extra for whip cream. I had never heard that it cost extra but okay. So I told her no worries I will pay for the whip cream if you could add it please. She goes on and seems like she put whipcream and keeps giving me attitude and reminds me to next time remember to say add whip cream to my moolata cuts me off from explaining I didnt know whip was extra and says have a nice day. So I walk out the door and this is what she put in my drink. Not even whip cream instead it was more like milk. Everyone at this location has been more than great but this one employee should not be there or should be talked to about customer service. I didnt even bother to go back if my drink was going to be messed with like this. Just so sad!
We have visited this location a few times; each time I walked away thinking that the location was not up to the cleanliness and health standards that I prefer. This is now significantly worse during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. You are risking your health and safety by visiting this location.**DO NOT TAKE THE CHANCE**Our last visit was on a Sunday afternoon at around 2:00 PM. When my wife and I approached the door, there was a man standing directly in front of the store smoking a cigarette. As we got closer we noticed he had a Dairy Queen uniform on. He was a middle aged man and may have been the manager or franchisee. As soon as we entered and started our order, the gentleman finished his cigarette and walked in, went behind the counter and immediately grabbed a cup to start making our blizzard. No hand-washing, no sanitizer, no gloves....nothing. Straight from cigarette, to outside door handle, to our food.I asked him to please wash his hands, since he was just outside smoking and my wife is pregnant. He obliged, by turning the water on and running the tips of his fingers under the stream of water for approximately ONE SECOND.No soap, no scrubbing, no singing Happy Birthday twice, no gloves....nothing. Making it even worse, he dried his wet hands on a towel with visible stains, that should probably have been discarded in 2019.He then went directly back to the same cup he was using previously. At that point we told him, No thank you, we changed our minds, and promptly left.Do not visit this location if safety and cleanliness are a priority to you during COVID-19 and in general. If they are this blatant about their disregard to cleanliness with customers in the store, how do you think they act when no one is looking?**COVID-19 HIGH RISK ACTIVITY**
Great customer service
Social distancing is well handled. Im a blizzard fan and my kids love the dipped cones.
I had the cookie dough blizzard and it was amazing. The staff were cheerful and helpful. The location of this Dairy Queen in downtown Herndon is perfect with lots of public outdoor seating available by the town clerk building. The only reason I didnt give five stars was that the floor and the table I was at needed cleaning. Other than that it was a great experience.
Really enjoy my blizzards on a nice day. Missed out on the frosted animal cookie blizzard tho.
It was a good experience overall. The service was fast and they have clear guidelines for social distancing. For those who have dietary restrictions, they do not have the dairy-free dilly bars, unfortunately.
The ice cream is good. It’s kinda dirty in there, though. I’d totally recommend getting the ice cream or that brownie stuff but for the love of god please don’t get actual food here. My friends have gotten the hotdog a couple of times and it’s legit grey and tastes of nothing. One time I was really hungry and got the chicken sandwich thing and it was so gross! Like this dude just popped it in the microwave and gave it to me on the little red trey and took me it was hot. I opened it and the lettuce was old and wet and reminded me of your dead foot skin after you’ve been in the warm bath for an hour and a half. The chicken tasted like nothing, but it was the texture that got me. It was just wet and floppy. It was like a really soft moist piece of chewed up gum. The tomato was wrinkly. Also the bun was also really wet. It was just wet and mushy, and I’ll stop right there.Overall, it’s a pretty good place! 😃
Ice cream was fine, service Not so great.
Great place for a to-go soft ice cream
What are my two favorite DQs in Arlington / Alexandria. Always polite staff. and they always get the curly q on top of each cone done right.
Always great super location right on the W&OD
Worst experience ever! They were very rude and they gave me a frozen chicken breast when it was supposed to be grilled.
My husband and I stopped in today. The guy they had working up front (working the cash register and making milkshakes) around 6:30 pm on Sunday, September 3rd 2017 was absolutely the best! Even though he was all alone up front, and swamped with tons of customers, he waited on everyone without a complaint. He kept a good attitude and even smiled. Ive gone to restaurants that cost 10 times what Dairy Queen does and they didnt give half as good of service as him! I wish every business had employees who acted like him! He deserves a raise! (I hope his boss reads this and passes it on, because customers really do notice and appreciate people like him. He was great!)
Its Dairy Queen. Nuff said.....
Amazing, although, I do wish this location would serve burgers like most DQs.
The location itself is worth 5 stars. The service was great and the people are friendly. Great environment to chill, no pun intended.....Maybe.
Staff was not very knowledgeable and distracted by their cell phones. I dont think Ill go back.
Great little store off the beaten path. Came with my family of five, and after receiving our order we headed right across the road to a green space to enjoy. Staff were very helpful and friendly!
Just hopped in here for a blizzard for my birthday. What a happy and inviting team! They coordinated everyone in the store to sing to me :) Thank you for the memorable visit and the yummy ice cream!
Great location and the staff is very friendly. Only gripe is the cleanliness. Both inside and outside could use a deep cleaning on a more consistent basis.
Always good treats.
It gets better everyday. It is going to be perfect someday.
Blizzard was almost melted... Thats probably why she only tipped it sideways versus upside down. But it tasted just fine. Prices seemed steep, but maybe normal for Herndon. Staff didnt seem to speak English well.
When I was 10, one of the best parts about driving to NC for a family beach trip was being able to hit a dairy queen on the way. Ive been away from the area for a long time and what a joy it is to have a dairy queen in chantilly and in herndon. for this location, i thought the tables were a little too neglected. very sticky and just unclean in general. but, both employees behind the counter were slammed because of the size of the line, and they were both very friendly and polite. got a sundae and a dipped cone. both items came out perfectly. it was so good my daughter nearly fainted. my wife did not share her cone with me. i love DQ.
Good ice cream, good service
Yummy ice cream we come here very often we love this location
With the exception of it being a tiny location. This is a typical Dairy Queen experience. I am very happy its a hot eats/cool treat location that also has Orange Julius (childhood favorite thats been hard to find). I will sometimes take my kids down the W & OD trail and stop in for a nice treat. Sometimes after civic evens (being as its in the heart of downtown Herndon) we will stop in after a parade or a tour of the Herndon local access TV studios or railroad museum.
Great little sweets and treats spot in Herndon.
Great location and super ice cream with GREAT service. Does not have a full menu, but it makes up for it in outstanding service and tasty treats!
A institution of Old Town Herndon! Get a cone or a blizzard and let the kids enjoy the caboose right across the street.
Workers seemed like they had no clue what they were doing. Took a very long time to get our Smores blizzard, two other groups were served before we received our blizzard. They locked the doors at 9:50 pm and other customers tried to enter the building but were rejected, when the store hours posted on the door says 10:00 pm.
Blizzard was good and so was the staff, however, the manager was rude and got easily bothered when my girlfriend and I wanted to pay our order separately instead of together. He felt like it was a hassle to cancel the order and do it again.
This location has been around Herndon forever. Our family poves this spot, and is a easy ppace to catch up with your friends
So creamy, so dreamy with a chocolate dip;
Great service and ice cream. Town location: This is a small Dairy Queen location, and thus, doesnt have a full DQ menu.Parking can be easy or a problem depending on events. This is very close to the center of town.Note: There are over a dozen other DQ within 30 minutes which include full restaurants (Grill and Chill).
First time trying this place with my wife. Blizzard was great and milkshake was the best ive had.
Girls had no idea what the were doing but as always the ice cream is good
I like DQ ice cream but this location isent anything special. Whenever I go in (weekend night time) there is always a long line and the counters are always dirty. Simply hire another team member and it will cut down on wait times and increase cleanliness.
Its consistently good, but its no specialty shop.
Good ice cream, get extra fudge if you want more fudge.
Nice location! The service is ok and the ice cream is delicious!
They have yummy icecream and nearby place is quit and my daughter loved it
As good a a DQ as one can get! Good staff!
Yummy food and treats
Love DQ. The burgers are always great and dont forget the chocolate dipped vanilla cone.
Theyve got all the classic Dairy Queen frozen treats, but Ive been spoiled by DQ Grill N Chills, and this is NOT one of those.Come for the delicious Blizzards and Dilly Bars, but not for a hot lunch. Unless you like lukewarm, slightly damp hot dogs.
Best ice cream very tasty but a bit pricy
Nothing beats their old fashioned chocolate cones
The customer service was absolutely horribleThe workers were rude and turned off the lights at 9:50 while we were still in there. They asked when we were leaving we said soon and they proceeded to turn off the lights anyway. The place was kind of dirty especially the bathroom and the cones they made were messy and not appealing at all chocolate dripping everywhere. I used to live DQ but it has gone downhill.
This DQ has the best pizza. I recommend to ever.
Subpar service, whoever took our order was unenthusiastic and seemed bothered that we even came to spend money at the establishment. Not the first time this has occurred with these same employees.
Nice kids helping. Very polite!
Nice family operated waystop when strolling historic Herndon.
Got a blizzard it was ok, but I got a super sugary one and made me sick, it had Carmel in it
Long waiting in summer weekends, Herndon Festival weekend in June and Independence day. Friendly staff.
Small store but quick friendky service and in a convenient spot for W&OD trail users. Parking is available but a bit limited.
Always pleasant and good service.
Classic. Good food. Good Service.
Hi All!I was very disappointed in this so called DQ because Im originally from Texas and their have everything on the menu that supposed to have, and on top of it all, it was my gf 1st time ever to DQ, she was very disappointed of the place, and I had to hear her talking about our lunch earlier today :(.Its a waste of time and food there. We would never go back to this place in Herndon VA anymore. Also, why would you posted the full menu at this location when there isnt much of a menu beside chicken sandwich, hot dogs, chips, drinks, and lots of ice cream.....This location truly needs to be SHUT DOWN....
Cheap barley gave me any ice cream or chocolate dip. Dont waste your money.
The ladies know how to dish the ice cream
Good ice but too pricey
Summer time for icecrem.
The great staples of Dairy Queen, and the staff is very nice.
Great location, great ice cream, plus Pokestops!
Love their BLIZZARDS!
Good ice cream, good service
Great, quick service.
Good ice-cream, great service
They dont have 75% of whats on the online DQ menu. Only the bare basics.
Great food and a wonderful staff
Good local ice cream shop
Our favorite stop along the W&OD Bike Trail!
Good stuff
Clueless. And closed before 10pm on a Saturday turning away customers.
Nice people, nice DQ.
Best banana strawberry milkshake
Very clean and the staff is nice!!
Just off the W&OD trail in Herndon. Inside and outside seating.
Blizzards!!! Thats why I go to DQ.
Kind staff, DQ food doesnt really change but it is a clean and pleasant location.
