We had our kitchen redone by Modern Kitchen and bath in 2020. They designed the kitchen and presented several options, and we were able to choose and make changes to the design easily. Once we moved forward they set the start date and met that (I was very glad about that!!). Their installation team was awesome, working hard and cleaning up every day. They advised me of the progress. I occasionally had to check in with them but they didn’t mind. The process took a few weeks but they totally tore out my whole kitchen including a pot rack “box” attached to the ceiling. The installation of new cabinets went well and any issues I had were promptly addressed. The end result was an absolutely beautiful kitchen. It’s timeless and I still am amazed at how nice it all looks. Their staff let me choose what I liked and when I needed design advice, they were there to give me great advice. I would definitely use Modern Image again.
First of all, I would like to start by inviting the owner Kris to respond back. Especially since he has stopped responding to our texts.I was really hoping that I wouldn’t have to write all this up, but as I was taking a shower this morning without a shower curtain like I have been for the last year and I decided it was time.To start, I am a person who uses a wheelchair. I was moving in with my fiancé, but her bathroom needed to be renovated before I could do so. My lease was over on 8/16/2020, so we had a very hard deadline. We signed a contract with Modern Image to renovate our 36 sq ft. bathroom in early July after searching for contractors. We were very clear about our hard deadline and we were assured they would have the bathroom finished by my move in date. The problems first started when they were late starting the work, which actually violated the contract out of the gate. They then needed to move the toilet, but they decided to not cover the doorway between the bathroom and our bedroom. After a day of concrete work, our entire house was covered in dust. Casual offers were made to clean things up, but they were never followed up on. They then stopped work for over a week leaving a massive dirt hole wide open four feet from our bed. Eventually the floor was poured and a toilet was installed, but by this time we had already passed the Aug. 16 deadline. During that time we learned that Kris and crew were working on someone else’s bathroom, meanwhile they were far from finishing ours.During the design phase Kris recommended we use a butcher block/industrial pipe vanity so it would create more room for my wheelchair. It did not, it actually made things even smaller. It didn’t seem like the guys putting it together had ever done it before. The butcher block counter was never ‘finished’, they basically just cut the wood and installed it. I had to remind them to at least sand it down, there were corners that aren’t flush. When they came to install the sinks, thank goodness I was here. Although we had told them we wanted plain white porcelain sinks, they brought some ugly brown crystal sinks and tried to install them. Then they brought some sinks that looked scratched up, but we were told they needed to be cleaned with special sand paper. We finally had to go to Home Depot and pick out new sinks. The guys “installed” a shower curtain, but did not secure it so every time you open or close the curtain the rod falls down on you.Below the sink was not professionally finished as well. Where the pipes go in the wall looks raggedy and wide open for all to see. We just have a bunch of holes in our wall. One that is near the floor, is huge, because of the piping. When I asked Kris to fix it, he suggested we put a fake vent cover over it. I was stunned and ready to kick him out right then and there. Now we have a rag stuffed in the hole to keep mice out of our house. I kid you not. There is very little storage space, an issue we tried to address many times but Kris never came to inspect the work. Even after the job was finished. You might be thinking to yourself, why not ask them to fix the mistakes. We have. Repeatedly. They even came back over to our house and witnessed all the issues. They have never come back over since. They keep throwing us excuses, but only we after we are the ones working to make contact. We finally had to let them know that since they clearly aren’t interested in fixing things, they don’t need to bother. You can make whatever decision is best for you, but we will never use Modern Image again nor would we recommend anyone else use them either. Kris is a very nice person, but there is a massive lack of communication.
We just completed a complete kitchen remodel with Modern Image and could not be happier. They communicated very well with us the entire time. The flow and design of our new kitchen is just perfect, and you can tell they put a lot of thought to the layout before starting the demo. The design help was much appreciated as we went through the process. The entire team at Modern Image is professional and the workmanship is top notch. I am already planning my next project.
Kristopher is a great person and an honest contractor. The first time I met him was to pay him for job that he had already completed. Since then he has built a garage with an apartment for me and completed sever other jobs for my family members. Everybody is extremely happy with his work, ethics, and his prices! I find it hard to find a trustworthy trades people and craftsman...he deserves a rating above 5 stars!
Chris is a very nice person. Unfortunately working as a subcontractor for modern image was less than nice. Coming in as a last minute Subcontractor to try and wrap up a job for him seemed easy. We had guys show up to do floors, doors and trim. With limited instruction we did what we could. We “lost contact” with Chris after we left the site. He hasn’t returned our calls or messages. I hope customers are treated better than the people who work on the customers house.
Awesome people to do business with. They do as they say they will.
