I have taken all my cars here since my first visit. The mechanics find what issues you are having and fix them. They diagnose the problem quickly and correctly. They don’t continue adding new parts until car is fixed and because of this their prices can’t be beat. They have treated me like family since day one.

First time using this shop and Im quite happy with them. We had a minor issue with the first maintenance which the shop resolved very quickly which is a very good sign of their capabilities and how they deal with the occasional hiccups versus happy path. a shop that can work through things is golden. I am now scheduling out quite a bit of work with them that Ive needed to do on my older Subaru.

Do your homework on what’s wrong with your car before taking your vehicle to this place. I took my truck to this shop because it was making a weird sound and I described that I would be selling the truck very soon and wanted to see what was wrong with the truck. All they heard from me was “weird sound”. They diagnosed that singular problem. They said I needed a new alternator and that they couldn’t diagnose any other problem until they replaced the alternator for $401. I declined the service and they charged me $70 for a bogus diagnosis, the mechanic drove my truck to the front of the store to return it to me with the hood ajar. I decided to take my business elsewhere and I’m glad I did. After taking my truck to a different mechanic the same day, it turns out there is a lot wrong with the car including a leaking water pump and broken timing cover gasket, unfortunate news but at least I got honesty and transparency and didn’t have to undergo a $400 dollar expense to discover this information. I would not recommend this place. If you know a lot about the exact issue with your vehicle this place might be fine, but if you go in blind or don’t know much about cars, be prepared to be confused and ‘nickled and dimed’, your best interest is not their priority. I give this business 2-stars because Japanese Auto Specialists were just flat-out unremarkable.

I took a 2011 Subaru Outback to Japanese Auto specialists for a pre-purchase review. Both Johnie and Bill were extremely helpful! We did end up purchasing the car and I am looking forward to working with this fine business for all my servicing needs for this car.

I first started coming to Japanese Auto in 2016 and they have been awesome since our first encounter. Mr. Bill and his staff are very easy to work with, very honest and straight forward, prices are very reasonable! As long as I have a vehicle they specialize in, I will always come here!

I called to get a quote. The lady told me she would get back to me. I called back two hours later and she told me new business was more not as important as current guests. So I asked her when I should expect a call. She said tomorrow by noon. So, today, five days later I called back. I finally got the quote, but they refused to work on my 95 suzuki. They said it was to old, yet there website says they work on cars as far back as the 80s. Do not bring your business here. They dont want it.

Best car shop Ive ever gone to. Sent my car to their shop after it failed to start in the morning. They ran some tests over a couple of days and found that the battery had likely been drained by one of the interior lights being left on over night. When I asked them how much I owed them for their services I was told: nothing. Needless to say I will be back should my car ever have any trouble, as this shop has already proven to be run with integrity and theyve certainly gained my trust.

I only buy Japanese cars so that I never have to stop using Japanese Auto Specialists. I have been a customer for over ten years, and I have never had anything but a great experience with them. They are unfailingly honest, and they have no interest in getting you to pay for work that does not need to be done. When they find something worth noting - during an oil change, for example - they always explain it to my satisfaction, tell me the level of urgency, and explain the tradeoffs if I have any less expensive options. So, when they tell me, You need to have this done immediately, I have confidence in what they are telling me. Their work always holds up, so I spend very little to maintain my cars, which have always been 150K miles plus.No one should settle for less than they give me!

It’s hard to find a shop that won’t take advantage of its customers, especially since most people aren’t sure whether they’re getting a good deal or good pricing. Just flat out the BEST!

My wifes Honda Odyssey began having issues on a quick trip down to Greenwood and back. We had a flashing CEL, VSA light, and it was driving roughly. I called another Toyota/Honda specialist and they said they couldnt get to it anytime Wednesday through Saturday, while we were out of town. I called Japanese Auto Specialists and they were extremely friendly and accommodating. We used the drop box Tuesday night and heard from them by early afternoon on Wednesday. They diagnosed the issue to be an extended warranty issue from Honda and recommended we call a Honda dealership to see if they will cover the repair. I asked what the cost for the diagnosis was......to my surprise she said not a thing! I really appreciated their willingness to help and the information they shared with me even when it didnt benefit them. They didnt know that I typically only drive Toyota/Lexus cars and their exceptional customer service just made a customer out of me. Thanks again!!!

Simply the best car repair shop in all of the upstate. Honest owner who has a very knowledgeable staff that can fix just about anything. Even the stuff the dealers cant fix. Ive taken all my vehicles there for 20 years and its always right the first time at a fair price.

After moving away from Greenville, I miss being able to take my car into this shop and having the peace of mind that its going to get properly fixed by honest people.

This was the very first time that Ive ever done business with them, and they made me feel like Ive been doing business there for years! If you have a Japanese car, Bill Wilsons place is a must destination. We had two Classic Cars that needed to be certified for a track event in Austin Texas next week. Bill took care of us and provided the feedback the event coordinators needed. His knowledge spans cars from the mid-80s forward.

Japanese Auto is the best auto repair shop Ive experienced in several decades of having cars serviced. Theyve kept my Camry alive for 200K miles and my 4Runner for 180K miles. Both run like new.

I had brakes serviced and drive belts replaced on my MAZDA 3.Johnie ordered the exact brand of brake pads I wanted, just with conversation on their e-mail.I made my appointment, waited on my car, and could not have been happier.I was charged fairly, and exactually as quoted.These guys are the real deal, and I have been looking for someone that I could trust with my MAZDA.I will use them in the future.

Unfortunately 0 stars isnt an option. My car broke down with no warning and I had to make a quick decision on a place to have it towed to. This place had good reviews so I thought I would be fine. Turns out..I wasnt. They called me and told me my radiator needed to be replaced along with a couple of other things and it would be $1122 and fingers crossed there would not be engine damage. They said there was no way to check the engine unless I paid that amount to fix my cooling system and then they could check. Luckily I am not stupid and I started asking around. Thankfully I did because I learned that a GOOD mechanic can in fact run two different tests to check the engine even if the car does not start. I have since had my car towed to the GOOD mechanic who stayed late on the night before Thanksgiving so that I wouldnt worry all weekend to let me know my car does need repairs butnmy engine is not shot and for that, I am grateful.

They say they specialize in Japanese cars yet they diagnose the problem incorrectly and dont look at the root of the problem. Also they didnt give me the work estimate on the quote. Very disappointed in the way they operate dont go here.

Took my car there for maintenance several times over the course of a year but noticed that service seemed to be declining with time. Fluids should be topped off after an oil change service, ended up with no windshield washer fluid twice. Thought it was an honest mistake, but the next time, the tire valve cap was missing after I brought the car home, and then the last time the coolant reservoir cap was missing when I got the car back. When I called to find out if they had taken it off and not put it back, i was told it was never there to begin with, already was missing. Maybe I should have been told that when I picked up the car? I again inspected under the hood to see if it had fall and gotten stuck somewhere and found it sitting further down, as if someone had placed it there while working on the car and didnt put it back. Lost faith in them after a few negative experiences. Plenty of other shops in town.

The absolute worst experience dealing with an automotive shop ive ever had. First they tell me my car is going to be fixed in 3 days for $1000. Then they tell me the 1000 dollars worth of work didnt fix my problem. So i spent that for nothing. Then they send my transmission to a shop to get looked at, and the dumbasses there have had it for 2 full weeks and havent even looked at it. Told them they forgot it was there. I will never again use these people. They have done nothing to make this right. Take your vehicle anywhere but here.

I made an appointment and dropped my car off that morning with an electrical issue. When I called around 4pm I was told their guy couldnt get get to it and would I mind leaving it another day which I did. Around 3pm the next day I called them again only to find out that they werent able to find the problem and my charge would only be $30. $30 for not helping me!
