Espresso: dark and solid crema (no light shot overflow, also no dark spots), medium dark roast testing, earthy, not as bitter as mainstream dark roast signature espressos, but close. Looses taste as it cools, end could be bit watery and looses smooth structure like most of dark roasts espressos.I like lighter roast and more dynamic espressos.Ambience: looks nice outside and inside, clean, spacious. Has a roasting machine in the room which looks cool. Seating available outside.Service: really nice, welcoming, happy. 5 star for that.Location: easy to find and parking well available for downtown.
Loved the Cardamom latte in oatmilk. Give it a try.
Theyre not messing around. Incredibly all drinks are custom made to perfection for every customer and quickly served piping hot. Clean quiet atmosphere, efficiently operated, no attitude, steady stream of coffee aficionados fill a beautiful historic building. 5 STARS
Good coffee and nice staff. cool atmosphere and things to look at while you wait
One of my favorite places to get coffee in town. Always great people working here and the coffee is always top notch!
I love the Lavender honey lattes. Actually all the special lattes are delicious. I first came here during the height of Covid. They did a great job following the SCC regulations as well as transitioning back to the regular day to day operations.
Love their specialty flavors. Their lavender honey latte is my go-to whenever Im in the area. Enjoyed their rose latte and their caramel bourbon latte as well.
The ambiance is old and stark, but the coffee is fine but on the pricey side.
Friendly staff. And the coffee is amazingly good. I had a caramel maquiato iced.
Coffee was great, thank you. I even saw you smile even though you were wearing a 😷
The staff is very nice and the coffee taste great. This is the only place I get coffee from intown I highly recommend.
Can you give them more than 5 stars ?
Not being a coffee drinker I ordered tea which I had cold and its pretty dam good. Doughnut looked good but I resisted the temptation.
I love their horchata latte 😊 Great and friendly staff. The store is located on a corner with good seating. I highly recommend this coffee shop.
We were headed North on the 101 and needed coffee stat! I figured there might be an independent coffee place somewhere in downtown Gilroy. My hunch was confirmed when we spied the 5th Street Coffee Roasting sign. Stopping in, we found the place quiet, given the COVID situation. However, we were treated very nicely and the coffee was EXCELLENT! They also had a great selection of pastries and other morning treats. Wish I had been hungry. Ive been telling everybody I can to stop there for coffee and treats. Thanks for a great cup of coffee and a friendly reception.
Great espresso, so much better than Starbucks! My new coffee spot.
I love Coffee and as nice as Hilton was for including the little coffee maker in myroom, I wanted something local. Sarah and I both had a 5+ hour trip in front of us and when the receptionist suggested 5th Street Coffee, we jumped in the car and let her daughter sleep for an extra hour.5th Street Coffee was charming, it felt like it had been there for years, a part of the community and a comfort for those away from home. I ordered a dirty chaiand a iced coffee for the road. It was delicious and I would order both again.Locals love good coffee, no matter what city youre in, and when Im in Gilroy, I go to 5th Street Coffee.
Best coffee in Gilroy, by far. A local business with quality coffee that’s hand roasted. 🔥🔥🔥
I got the horchata hot drink. I regret the purchase. Did not taste good at all. Had to throw it away. Besides that this place is fine. Good bagel, good danish
An alright place, kind of snooty/rude employees :/ Good drinks, but not great atmosphere….
Always feel appreciated as a customer and the coffee never disappoints! Pastries and outdoor sitting make for a perfect break when Im out with my dog.
Simple coffee store with common menu and some pastries, but coffee is good which is most important.
Almond Honey Latte was delicious. Very nice little coffee shop.
Awesome.. Love their drinks and 🍰.
Great coffee and sweets. Best in town
Good espresso, doesnt tasteless garlic at all
Though the staff and decor are nice. But coffee is just average. Not really fresh roasted coffee.
Good coffee. Good pastries.
Excellent coffee shop. Great scones, coffee, coffee beans, service. A little drive from 101 but worth it.
This afternoon we were passing through Gilroy and wanted some coffee before continuing our journey up north. To our delight, we found the Fifth St. Coffee Roasting Company! My husband and I each ordered a cappuccino and shared a pistachio tart. The cappuccinos were delicious, with a creamy foam and a smooth coffee. And the tart was flaky and yummy. We will definitely stop here again and recommend this spot!
Great tasting coffee, well done.
Kinda quiet, good Americano and lavender latte. Give them some of your( busyness) business!
Awesome coffee and helpful staff!
Always a great place to hangout and get coffee! The unique drinks are always fun to try and they are usually pretty tasty!
Barista was very nice. place was calm. their honey rose latte is devine. would love to stop here again
The young lady that helped me was great! Two stars are for the strength of the coffee. I had the Rose Almond Latte. Good flavor if I wanted sweet milk as a treat. However, my first cup of coffee has to be strong. This was a miss even with the extra shot of espresso. Bummer, cause it is a really nice shop.
Honestly, not super friendly. Just one guys opinion, but 2nd time Ive been in and 2nd time Ive not felt very welcome. Both times I was only one in shop when I entered. When you toss a 30% tip in the jar, some would think to say thank you.Bummer, as Id rather support small and local than chain shops. Twice is enough to be under appreciated, though. Will not go again.
Spectacular little coffee shop. I had the latte which I found to be amazing. My wife had the latte with lavender and honey and could not find enough good words to say about it. Highly recommend it.
Wonderful coffee. Comfy tables! Service is amazing. Super friendly staff who are there to answer any questions. Immaculate cleanliness.
I love this place.... great coffee. amazing treats, super amazing baristas.
Decent coffe, fair prices, friendly service. Small selection and very low key flair. But a good place to hang out and work or have a quiet conversation.
Visited several times but still cold as ice customer service, no free refils unless you pay for full price cup. Odd...at least .75 for refill if need be. Decor great!
Beyond the first impression of a tired interior the coffee itself is good. Unfortunately the owner does not stock coffee well and is often out of particular drinks. The pastry although appealing in the pics is often left on the shelves for days and is commercially purchased at local grocery stores. The owner clearly is not invested in this business.
We always swing by for coffee whenever we are going through the area. In the afternoon, the iced coffee is so refreshing.
Fifth Street Coffee is my absolute favorite place for coffee in Gilroy! The inside of the shop is always kept in such a great condition, always clean & tidy. And I am beyond satisfied with the outcome of my coffee. Super cozy and comfortable setting. You have a variety of coffees to purchase from that are absolutely delicious!! Can’t say I’ve been disappointed so far! I enjoy walking in and seeing Yolanda, who owns the shop and her girls who are baristas very sweet as well! Great at getting my order correct every time! It’s a great atmosphere and Amazing people who not only work there but the customers who frequently come to get their drinks or meet others for coffee and just spending time with each other! I am really glad she’s doing well here!
Poorly run coffee shop. The coffee is mediocre and the staff do not seem happy to be there. The speed of placing an order and having it fulfilled was very slow. While waiting for my order to be taken I saw 4 people enter and leave without ordering.
Great local cafe with quiet atmosphere. Latte I had was excellent and the service was very good. They offer their own local roasted beans, which you can purchase to take home. The baked goods they offer are fresh and great, and the place had a very cozy and communal feel. Beyond the coffee artistry and beans, they also offer ice cream.
I usually leave for work before this coffee shop is open but on my late days, I head here. Yolanda and her staff are super friendly..! yummy hot chocolate (review by my daughter) and an absolutely delicious Mexican mocha; my go to drink here. Ive never had a bad coffee drink here.. they are the best and locally-owned..!
This place has really taste espresso.
One of our absolute favorite downtown get always. The service is always personal, friendly and accurate. The atmosphere is cozy and warm and perfect for intimate meetings with clients or friends. The drinks are always on point, plus it’s a small locally owned business which is a favorite to support. 💜
Its OK. I would not go back. The cafe around the corner is way better and nicer. Service from this cafes OWNER was non existent. Its a beautiful shop but not worth spending time in.
Very nice locally owned coffee shop. The atmosphere is very laid back with a good amount of seating options. The owner is very friendly and nice to chat with. I enjoy the Hot Chocolate here and like that it actually has a sweet chocolate taste versus the dark hot water you tend to get at other locations.
I go to different coffee shops in San Jose but today I came to Gilroy to have my car windows tinted. I walked around downtown and stopped at different shops then I saw this coffee shop. The prices are average compared to other coffee shops, thats fair. Customer service can be improved. No greeting when you get to the refister or simply a smile when you order in. I asked for a decaf latte, no decaf option. Fine, I order their regular latte. The coffee was okay. Funny thing, I didnt see a single electrical outlet. Gives me the impression they dont want people to stay here for a long time. I like to support local coffee shops and feel they can improve on their customer service.
Their coffee is refreshingly good. Whenever I go out for coffee, this is my first choice. Despite being a prominent corner location, it feels out of the way and quite relaxing. It would be great to see some live music sometime, and it would be great if they had some more squashy chairs to sit in (and maybe a little more seating in general). Nonetheless, if youre coffee connoisseur, this is the best place in Gilroy.
Best coffee in town. Beans roasted on the premises make a painfully obvious superior tasting espresso that lends its flavor beautifully to the wonderful no frills menu. Perfectly decadent pastries and an aesthetically pleasing atmosphere make it easy to fall in love with this place. Great, friendly staff keep you coming back and quirky selection of local ice cream keep you coming back just to try new things.
Great prices, not crazy about bacon bits in my microwaved eggs but they sell lemon bars.
Awesomeness
Table s out side
Great experience. Good coffee and things to go with it. They roast the beans on the premises
Great little coffee shop just off 101. Had a toasted bagel with cream cheese. I really love it when they put the cheese on there for you. Some places just hand you a sealed container and a plastic knife. And they roast their own beans right there in the shop.
We stopped by for ice cream on Saturday afternoon. Unfortunately, they had no idea if any of their ice cream was gluten free. Fortunately, sherbet is always gluten free and it was great. Others had the vanilla and they loved it. Comfortable and large portions so had a great time.
Best coffee in Gilroy...
Good coffee. Nice atmosphere.
I moved to Gilroy a year ago and finally I found the perfect Cappuccino! Its perfect, the right weight, thick foam and delicious coffee beans. What else can you ask for. Oh yes, plenty of parking, clean, quiet environment and friendly service.
Decent place. Friendly. Cool space. Scones were nice, and pastries looked good in general. The mocha was a bit on the sweet and bland side, but certainly not bad.
My wife and I dropped in for a cup of coffee after brunch while visiting my sister. The owner was so kind in telling us about the new mural in her shop, the downtown area (we are from Kansas), and the coffee, an almond seasonal special, was great. We will definitely stop by again the next time we are in Gilroy.
Great vibe inside and the staff is always friendly and helpful. Im a big fan of their lattes and find that they arent as acidic as some of the big chains. Their roasted coffees tend to be predominantly South and Central American varieties although most of them are very good, their Ethiopia is fantastic!
The Americano and cappuccino we had were great. Better than from a big chain coffee place. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Super helpful and friendly staff who encouraged us to try different ice creams. We tried the garlic ice cream and I thought it was great! Nice ambiance.
They roast their own beans so the coffee is always fresh and strong. Iced Vanilla Latte is my drink and they do it perfectly. Just the right combination of bitter and sweet.
Looks nice but pastries dry and not at all impressed by coffee. Not worth going to.
Best cappuccino and Mexican Coffee ever! Awesome staff, location, lovely ambience, yummy pastries too. What a gem for downtown Gilroy...
Best coffee shop in Gilroy! Fifth Street Coffee shop roasts their own coffee beans in-house. My husband and I have been buying their coffee beans since they opened. They also carry Mariannes Ice cream from Santa Cruz. Truly the best! Highly recommend it to everyone.
Next time you are driving or walking through downtown, stop here. Inside youll find a cozy atmosphere with good coffee, as well as a large selection of very delicious ice cream in really cool flavors - that of Mariannes in Santa Cruz. Its family-owned and family-friendly. I just wish they were able to advertise more!
The BEST coffee in town!!! This jewel in the downtown area of Gilroy roast the coffee on site making it fresh and flavorful. A must if you are a coffee aficionado.
Great spot! Really tasty coffee and ice cream.
FAIL! I showed up at 1:20 PM, with a sign on the door that says that they will be back at 1:45 PM. Somebody sitting and waiting at the door said the barista is out to lunch. Seriously? Your hours say youre open and customers coming by for a cup of coffee after lunch expect you to be there. I went out of my way to find this place. Reliable hours is basic stuff.
Best vanilla latte in town! A short walk from my apartment, always welcoming and cozy. I love this place!
Amazing coffee definitely try the iced lavender honey latte
Best lavender latte I have ever tasted. Coffee beans are roasted where you can watch. Nice little cafe.
Not really helpful love lavendar rose flavor s
Ok coffee and environment (for someone trying to stay and study) - no outlets or wifi password sign. The coffee takes forever to get after ordering and tastes weak/ just ok. The free books are cool and food is good!
Great coffee and treats, friendly crew!
Yolanda the owner has turned this place into a cozy place to relax and enjoy coffee. Friendly staff. Love it here.
Excellent excellent cappuccino. The texture was amazing.... Very creamy. Ah and GREAT customer service!
Its ok I hope each staff is learning to smile,
I had an horchata frappe with a cheddar jalapeno bagel. They were both amazing. If youre driving past Gilroy, this is a great place to stop!
Friendly staff and great service. Love the ambience. Nicely located in Old downtown Gilroy.
