It wasnt as good as we expected it to be. They didnt seam like they were interested in our help. So I came home and ordered them and that was so much faster. He is happy with them.

Stopped by on 9/30/21 to pick up a few things. Staff was friendly and I was able.to find what I was looking for fairly quickly.Nice to see they had some weight lifting equipment back in stick.I look forward to returning.

We shop(ed) here quite regularly. Around 3 times a week as well as purchasing firearms, kayaks, etc. This was our store. We went to South Carolina (Cabelas) to purchase a firearm and have it transferred here, because again-this is our store. We werent quoted, but told outright it was a $25 transfer fee. We originally decided not to get it for the fee alone but changed our minds. We were told that if you asked nicely they could wave the fee. Fantastic! 2 days later theyre telling us its a 40$ fee and NO they will not honor what we were told nor wave the fee. It was nice knowing you Academy, well stick with driving an hour out of the way to go to SC.

One of my favorite stores! Sometimes I just browse and an associate will ask if you need any help, then respectfully let you look around. Great selection of running and walking shoes, flip flops and outdoor items. Great location and never a long wait at the register!

Actually found some ammo here! Not a great price, but certainly not the worst that I have paid. Staff is always friendly and helpful.

If I could rate this place a zero, I would! I went to return a item, in the wrong place. I did not know it was the wrong place. There was two people in the place I was, they did not even tend to recognize me, or help me. They sat there on their phone not doing anything. I then went to the self check-out line, and returned my item. It is unprofessional to not help anyone, your a ‘worker’ so do your job, & work.

If you don’t honor your first responders when they have coupons that’s very sad I do like some of the things this stores offers but it’s not like @ 10%coupon is going to break you for fire of police officers it’s like the manager wasn’t even trying to offer good customer service to the customers. Sorry to say but Melissa your customer service skills are horrible the customer is not always right but there is a right way to treat people and talk to them. I thank god my husband is a firefighter and I stand up for our first responders and I thank the man upstairs that I’m a better person today than I was years ago bc I was so mad I could have came across the counter with how you was treating us over a 10 percent off coupons come on do better!!!!!

Pick up service was fast and easy! I ordered online. Within minutes of placing my order, I was notified that it was ready! I ordered on a Saturday. The parking lot was crowded. I was so happy my order was fulfilled so quickly!

Big place! Had just about everything. From basketball, football, baseball to outdoor camping supplies to tents to guns to archery to clothing and shoes to work boots. Helpful options for delivery of big bulky items and also offer other options like assembling your purchase like basketball hoops although delivery does seem a tad bit expensive but it is available. Definitely check them out. But I still like the family owned local sports store we have.

Excellent customer service, cashier Ben friendly every time I shop there. Jennifer, Store Manager, always takes the time to listen to customer concerns or compliments.

Overall decent experience in the gun shop area. They needed more help because there were alot of people wanting assistance. I will go back and try again. Staff was nice.

Great customer service! I purchased a pair of adidas shoes one month ago from the Gastonia location. I’ve hardly worn them since then and today the lace loops broke off (stitching & glue failed). Adidas customer service shrugged me off and said return them. I brought them back to this store assuming they would make it right based on the manufactures suggestion. At first I was given a little resistance since their return policy does not cover worn items. I suppose that’s fair but needless to say I was frustrated that basically new shoes failed. After some back & forth with a couple store associates I was taken care of. Big thank you to Quiara who made things right. I bought another pair of shoes and several other items before leaving.

Great options and sales on sports equipment, water activities items,and guns. Clothing included but often limit sizes.

Wait 15 min in line to get blown off by manger at customer service. Want to ask about ordering a $600 grill, but $ does not matter to the store. Love to hear from corporate about this issue.

They had an awesome shoe sale going on, we picked up $50 Shoes already on sale with an additional 30% off. We paid $20 for them!

I got line put on 4 rods and the employees were nice. It took about 20 minutes to get someone to help me though.

Just in the store. Waiting to look at a firearm. Stood there at least 10 min while a clerk was helping another customer, no problem. Another customer walk into the area and a 2nd store clerk appeared and started helping the person that came in after me, ok simple oversight. At least another 10 min go by and another customer walk in and another store clerk (3rd) start helping the 3rd customer. The entire time I was in the store standing at the counter, not one clerk acknowledged that I was there. Not my 1st bad experience in this store. This particular store just suck.

Pros- They have a lot of mainstream stuff.Cons- Nobody to help you or to ring up your purchase.

I ordered some basketballs online for in store pick up. I did receive an email that everything I ordered was not available but didnt clarify what. I really didnt know what to expect when I went in.When I got there the girl behind the counter wasnt very helpful.I was just disappointed for some reason. Not sure what I expected. Thd next time I will just order from Amazon. They had what I need and will deliver it directly to my door for the same price.

I just wanted to reach out to give recognition to David Bishop, the Manager at the Gastonia NC store. We ordered a bike online to pick up in store a few weeks ago. When we got to the store, the wrong bike was waiting for us. My son was crushed! On top of that, the first associate I talked to basically told us that we were out of luck.David dug looked through the warehouse and found the correct bike. It was mislabeled, but he was able to get it figured out. He got it set up for us be the next day, and when we arrived, he had tied ribbons and a Happy Birthday balloon to the bike, and gave us gift card for our troubles. He truly went above and beyond to make it right!

I love this store. Its significantly bigger than the Rock Hill store. My favorite department is the fishing and they carry some of the mid range rods and reels.

Staff is friendly and very helpful. Store is organized and clean. Easy to find what youre looking for. This is a good sporting store to shop. Like anywhere some prices are great some not but you can always shop around and compare prices. They also price match which is great. For the most part its still a good place to shop. Well I went in looking for a Fathers Day present. Man they were busy. One thing you can always say about Academy sports. They seem to have very knowledgeable people. What so many times you go into establishments. And people act like they dont want to help you. As I was walking to the back of the store there was 3 people that ask how I was doing and if I needed any help. And you can tell that that was real. found what I was looking for. Hey this place was busy Also. Check out lines moved very quickly. It was a great experience.
