They have a wonderful breadth of books; there are some that are tough to come across yet Third House has them. Also, Heather is super cordial and timely about giving updates on online book orders.

Highly recommend doing all of your book buying through Third House! They’re currently open to online shopping due to the pandemic and they are SO quick to response. I made an ordering error and they fixed it immediately. Customer service is quick to respond, very kind, and helpful. I seriously cannot stress how kind, patient, and helpful they are. I received the book within a week of ordering. I can’t wait for things to be safe for the store to open again so I can make a trip to Gainesville and visit the store!

So grateful to have THB in my life! The best selection of books in town for someone to support diversity in authors and be a conscious reader. Whether I’m in the mood for a lighthearted read, or looking to be more informed on a justice issue, I never fail to find something fitting my need! If they don’t have exactly what I’m looking for in-store, they are always super willing to special order books for me.Love the aesthetic of the store for browsing, and always find great read recommendations when I’ve asked!Due to Covid-19, I’ve definitely missed visiting the storefront, however I’m stoked that they are continuing to ship books out for delivery. :)

My favorite bookstore in Gainesville! Cant wait till they reopen for in-house shopping--sounds like the newly remodeled space will be even more cozy and inviting, with all new shelves and lighting. In the meantime, Im buying books through their digital portal to help keep one of my favorite local independent businesses afloat.

This place has been such a gem of our community and such a life raft during the pandemic. I love that they’re not afraid to stand up for basic human rights for everyone and how hard they work to include all voices in what they choose to keep in stock. Even though you cant go into the store right now (theyre taking COVID really seriously!), I love buying books from Third House: online ordering is easy, delivery was REALLY fast, and I even got a kind note from the owner thanking me for my order!

While I was a student at UF, I heard a *ton* about Third House Books, all positive. A lot of students recommended it as a place to grab books instead of Amazon, so my money could go towards the local community instead of a faceless corporation. Im so glad I did!!! The owner is wonderful, and the store has always felt like a welcoming and safe space.

I couldnt be happier to have THB as my local book store! I am sad that I havent been able to visit due to COVID closures, however their online store for purchase was simple to use and a great (safe) alternative!I pre-ordered a book that was released on December 26, and the team at THB emailed an order confirmation but let me know they were taking a ( well deserved) break for the new year and that my order would be mailed on January 4, which was completely reasonable.Imagine my surprise and joy on January 1 when I opened my postbox and saw my package there!I will be supporting THB in any and all ways they allow me to shop with them!

Online ordering is quick and easy. I received a personal note of thanks for my order the same day. Lovely to support an indie bookseller.

Third House Books is a pillar of the Gainesville community and the owner, Heather, is absolutely amazing! So insightful and kind. Also, if you’re looking for coffee, the Downtown Tabby next door has a wide variety of beverages and Heather doesn’t mind if you bring them over. I love Third House so much and it’s definitely worth checking out.

Lovely little local place, just moved into a wonderful space next door to the Downtown Tabby, which sells coffee and other drinks. You can even bring the drinks into the bookstore! Great selection of books (a lot of great women and PoC authors).

I read the reviews and was excited to come here, get a coffee, and read my book. I walked in and asked for a coffee. The woman replied with, “we’re not a coffee shop. There’s like 6 down the street” and pointed out of the store. So apparently you can’t actually get coffee here and read your book?

This is an amazing store with an incredibly kind & helpful owner who truly cares about making the world a better place through books. So happy that Gainesville has an indie store celebrating marginalized voices.

A great local business where one can always find gems amongst a finely curated selection of books (or place custom orders for titles not in-stock). My favorite section is the music books, which is always full of great reads that cater to both casual and niche interests. Also a fantastic location for checking out community events like author readings, book clubs, etc.The shop has recently relocated right next to Earth Pets/Downtown Tabby, Cypress & Grove, Afternoon, and Hardback Cafe, which really helps tie this part of town together as a low-key area where you can spend a lot of time enjoying the exact type of local activities that make Gainesville culture so unique beyond UF and the endlessly recycled Top Ten Things to Do lists. And theres parking!

A nice change of pace from big chain bookstores like Barnes and Noble and books a million. The selection is smaller due to its size but its very accommodating by offering special ordering for any book you need. The staff is very friendly and its a nice place to study if you are in the need. Definitely worth supporting for any book lover.

I was looking for a book that couldnt be ordered by any other comic/book shops in town and was directed to Third House Books. I filled out the “special order” form on their website, they emailed me when they ordered from the publisher, and again when it was ready downtown! Picking it up, the people behind the counter were a pleasure to talk to, really kind and helpful. The location is sort of out of the way from where I live but worth the visit. Ill definitely be ordering more books from them in the future, and the shop as a whole is something I see becoming an iconic location in Gainesville.

Went to the store opening—great, inviting place! The book stock is wonderful and very deliberately curated for all tastes. Was helped by a “Heather” (I think??) who is also the owner. She was lovely! Very sweet, helpful, and knowledgeable. They didn’t have the exact book I needed (a compendium or the late works of the Marquis de Sade and Carl Hiaasen’s “HOOT”) but I was even able to order them through “Heather (?)”! But I still managed to buy two books there aside from what I was looking for—a sure sign of good curation L O L. It was one of those Very Short Introductions on Trotsky done by an Elijah Garibaldi (it sucked but that’s not the store’s fault) and a very exciting poetry collection by a Rupi Kaur.Very excited to have a bookstore of this caliber in Gainesville. Never checked out their old location but I’m happy to say I imagine being a frequent customer from here on out.

A Gainesville treasure! Referred to as “the local woke bookshop”. Good coffee and amazing curated selection of socially conscious indie books and zines, some by local authors and artists. There’s a small loft area with some seating. The guy who runs it (I think) is really chill.
