I cannot recommend this place enough. First time here but the owner is so hospitable and kind, welcoming and accommodating. There were 6 beers on tap, all kinds of frozé, and of course loads of wines. Food was made by her daughter as far as I gathered and seriously tasted amazing - this place really knows their flavors! There was also a very cute little store inside with all sorts of adorable trinkets and kitchen gadgets and decor. Restrooms were clean, outdoor area is expansive, mostly shaded, and full of comfy furniture to enjoy. Will not hesitate to plan another trip to come back soon!
Okay, I love this place! It is such a nice break from all the uppity wineries in the area. The owner and her daughter are so down to earth and nice!!! They have a great selection of wines from all over. There is a bakery and oh my gosh….. the brownie and snicker doodle cookie was AMAZING (which were already half eaten in the pic)!!! And not over priced like everything else in Fredericksburg!!! They also had a selection of chips, cheese and crackers, and beer! There is also plenty of seating inside and a beautiful area outside!
Nice spot for a relaxed lunch.Good food. Baked goods are made onsite. They care and you can tell. We also got the chips and salsa which was pretty good. Although we didnt get it - I appreciate how they had some vegetables and hummus available for folks looking for a lighter option.Beverage program was interesting. Diverse wine selection but it seemed to be a hodge-podge of different wines from different regions and not well curated. Some beers available. Surprised to see jello-shots since they dont serve mixed-beverages. Seemed to be wine-based. Not my favorite to be honest but I can see other folks enjoying them. Did not try their wine-a-ritas but they were well advertised around the menu.Really confused by the physical layout. Seemed that you got coffee at one register, food at another register, and drinks across the whole other side of the building. Not really sure what was going on there. Someone we talked to who worked there said they are used to getting folks from the winetour busses which makes sense that you would want to spread people out as you receive them in larger groups. As someone who came in a smaller group though it seemed really weird to have to walk across the building and pay separately just to see what drinks they had.Beautiful outdoor patio with wonderful benches, tables, and chairs to spread out. Even had some cool outside games to play like washers and lawn bowling. Although they had a stage set up, they didnt have any live music while we were there and it didn’t look like they had lights or power which means if they ever had music it would probably be an afternoon acoustic set.Very clean bathrooms.Little shopping area in the front. Didnt seem to have anything too unusual all pretty typical kind of stuff you would expect to find along the 290 wine trail.Cant comment on COVID protocols inside but their back patio had plenty of room for us to sit well apart from other folks. We spent very little time inside to observe if staff were wearing masks properly.Plenty of parking. Good signage so you can see it from the highway as you drive upOverall, this is a nice little bar/restaurant to stop and grab a relaxed lunch. Not open too late so dont plan on coming here for dinner.I recommend you stop here if you are in the area for a nice lunch.
Sweetbrier Rose can be described as a hip spot to kick back, have a cup of coffee, beer, or wine flight as you meander through wine country. The location makes it the best stop for a sandwich in the middle of your tour, or a great place to start it out with a coffee and an awesome brownie or scone. It has a modern building design with a vintage feel to the interior thats also cool and quiet. The best part is theres plenty of seating and parking so large groups are easily accommodated. The bathrooms are also nice and clean. Overall its a stop you wont regret.
Honestly best place. We had stopped by other wineries but we fell in love with this place. We did not get to try out the food since we were just stopping by in the área. I was taken care of by Ann she is the nicest & sweetest person ever! Before here I never like wine because I was never able to find the right one. But Ann helped me and boy did she find the right bottle for me. Me and my mom ended up buying a few bottles since we live a few hrs away. But I will say I WILL DEFINITELY go back just to stop here. And this time make sure I try out the food. Also the peach wine-a-Rita is a must try!
Coffee, cinnamon rolls and service was great. What a gem!
Nasty food! My family got real sick. Never going back
Good food and good jello shots made with wine
I thought I already posted it was what I would call a golden Taco the egg so delicious never had a egg taste so well service was great they handle big groups very well cant wait to go back
We were on a weekend trip to Fredericksburg and found this little gem while driving on 290. Our server, Miss Lynn was the sweetest and took exceptional care of us! At first we just wanted to stop in and have a wine tasting, but after seeing all that they had to offer, we decided to grab a bite to eat as well. We ordered the peach and the peach-watermelon swirl wine-a-rita, the chicken salad sandwich and chips and salsa. This was the best chicken salad I have ever had, it was incredibly flavorful, the chicken was well seasoned, the bread had just a hint of sweetness that complimented the savory aspects of the sandwich. Their chef owe her came out to talk to us, and she is such a talented chef! She roasts tomatoes in house for the salsa, and uses her own sourdough starter for the oatmeal molasses bread for the sandwiches. We couldn’t leave without buying a loaf of bread and container of chicken salad! If you are in the area, and are looking for a great place for lunch or drinks, definitely check out Sweetbriar Rose!
This is a unique place to stop for a bite to eat. Def a great stop to eat during your wine or produce tour! The restaraunt easily and quickly served our bus of 32 people. The tour calls ahead and orders chicken and waffles for everyone along with vegetarian alternatives. The food was decent. My only complaint was my fried chicken seemed a little over done. But the rest of the 32 seemed to really enjoy theirs, so i wont complain too much. The salad and waffle half was great. The baristas made great coffee drinks, and the bartenders served all types of mixed drinks, wines, and even jello shots if you are feeling frisky. I had a mimosa with some delicious local champagne. The staff was friendly, the service was quick, the venue had a homey feel and was very clean and organized. Def stop by if you are hungry, thirsty, or need a quick pick me up for the rest of your wine tour!Great place for large tour or carfull of people! Def call ahead!
Good ☕ and sandwiches. If you want something stronger they have it! Nice friendly place 🤠 to begin and end your trip to the wine country.
Everyone very friendly! Good coffee and cookies. Nice shop with gift items.
Great place to grab a sandwich!
Loved this place, the variety of drinks and the jello shots are a fun a unique thing about here.
Excellent selection of wine and beer. The pastries looked absolutely stunning and fresh. Although I didnt get to venture to the back patio, the interior was a fantastic mix of casual dining and warm family formality; all of this coupled with a knockout staff that kept me laughing and wanting to try more. I encourage everyone to stop in for the best checkpoint of your day.
Really good fresh baked goods, excellent service!
I think it is my very first negative review on any business. I put one star because the Google review doesnt allow me to put a negative-five star. I had to cancel my order because the girl who was working in the kitchen was not wearing the mask at all. I asked the manager why the girl was not wearing the mask. The manager sheepishly replied she had told the girl to wear the mask. I asked her why the girl was still allowed to work in the kitchen and the manager had no reply. Maybe the girl is the managers daughter or something, but it still doesnt explain why the tables are close to one another and big groups of customers are seated next to one another within an arms reach. Business should put customers safety first; and this restaurant is utterly failing in meeting that fundamental obligation. If you believe in science and threats posed by COVID-19, stay away from this restaurant.
Excellent spot to stop for any occasion delicious food great service very relaxing spot back patio bunkbed/couch for the win!! Very good beer
We stopped here for lunch on our day on the 290 Wine Trail and were pretty disappointed with our experience. Even though there were 3 people behind the counter, no one was directing us to order, where to stand when waiting for food, where the wine was, etc. We were very confused. We also felt mislead when it was advertised as a great place for lunch, and we arrived to see 3 sandwiches and a salad on the menu total. Not enough variety. The Jell-O shots and live music were a plus.
Not a huge selection of wines or baked goods but the atmosphere is nice and the service was on point. Id go back.
Quaint friendly delicious! Had a great sandwich, cute stuff to buy, very friendly ladies! Winearita was so good! Highly recommend, will return!
Very clean, the owner was friendly. Great coffee and cinnamon rolls!
There is not much in the way of food amongst all of the wineries on 290, and when you are out there after several wine tastings a bite or two is a good idea.Sweetbriar Rose Winery is the exception in that they not only have wine tasting, but they also have great sandwiches, salads, & baked goods for reasonable prices. Great atmosphere and place to sit a little while and enjoy the company you are with. My friends & I were so glad to stop in!If I get the opportunity to be there on a Sunday in the future, I am going to plan on having their Sunday brunch.
Family feel, great service and wonderful food and drinks! We couldnt recommend anything better!
My favorite lunch spot in Fredericksburg. The chicken salad sandwich was the best ever! Stop by for a sample beer flight or to sit down and relax for a while. The people here make you feel like home.
The service here was top notch and the food was great! It’s definitely a place I would go back to every time on the 290 wine shuttle.
It was so cool, I loved it..!!!! ; )
This place has it all. Wine, beer, Ritas, atmosphere, food, and baked goods. The lady behind the bar was more than helpful and friendly. I will definitely add this stop when visiting the Fredericksburg area again.
Outstanding! Fresh and delicious food. Friendly service and great gifts available. Beautifully decorated and the music is very joyful! You will LOVE this place, too!
I love this place. I am a local and I often swing by. Literally everything here is good. I cant wait to try their new Sunday brunch!
Such a wonderful experience and a wonderful staff. We had a blast and all of the wine was amazing. Highly recommended for anyone planning a stop on the wine trail!
Had the spinach and walnut salad, and it was really good. Nice food very nice people there ;)
Great coffee and food. Inside is much bigger and more inviting than it seems form the outside. Fast and good quality service. Little shop inside.
Super sweet bartenders! Chrissy makes amazing Jell-O shots of all different flavors. Strong pours and great environment. Also tampons, hair ties, and bobby pins in the bathroom.
Wonderful place to visit for breakfast, lunch or just to treat yourself to something sweet. Family business that makes you feel right at home. Beautiful people🌸🌹💗
This place has the sweetest, most gracious staff of any place I have been! The scones are awesome! Nice stop on 290 while doing wine tastings!
Not only do they have great coffee but wine also wine and beer. Once you have lined your stomach with liquid refreshments there is food also. Lots of place to sit. A real pleasant and welcoming atmosphere. I ordered the beer flight. You get to choose 3.
Please do not stop to eat here. Our $7.00 sandwiches took an hour and there were multiple orders under the same number causing confusion amongst staff. They also were not very tasty. Save your money! We did however receive free Jell-O shots out of the ordeal and received great service at the bar!
Great atmosphere, staff were very friendly and accommodating. The drinks were delicious, there was a good selection. The food was amazing! We will definitely be back on our next trip!
Good wines very laidback non pretentious atmosphere. There are here to have fun. Wine, beer flights and wine-aritas.Definitely recommend if you want a fun laid back tasting. Willing to let us try a couple wines to decide on what we wanted to get a glass.
Love the set up and design. Very pretty inside and out, dont take for granted. Loved the peach wine a rita. They have a vegan salad options and hummus with veggies and bread options. Tons of cute items to purchase. And you get a souvenir cup with the wine a rita
Simply a gem and without the crowds. Everything here is of the highest quality. Coffee, pastries, wine, beer, and activities for all ages make this a must stop for everyone.
Wonderful place to chill and have great food!!!
Very awesome place owner wa super sweet after I had a little melt down
A great place to relax and have some great drinks! The atmosphere is very fun and the staff is awesome! The prices on the drinks are also great compared to other areas! Would definitely come back!
Good place to chill. I do find the bakery to be random, but cool idea. They also have beer on tap if you dont want wine.
Great sandwiches, and home made sweet buns and cookies. beer and wine also
Do yourself a favour and make the drive here for your coffee. The best coffee we found in & around Fredericksburg (and we tried 6 different places). The staff were so friendly & there is a great rear patio for the kids to play corn hole and run around. There is also a selection of gifts inside. Wine tasting and Jell-O shots too! We had salads & sandwiches for lunch one day and they were great. Well worth stopping & definitely worth driving out from Fredericksburg for a coffee.
Get spot for a coffee and very good service.
Elizabeth and Cassandra were amazing and super friendly!! Great drinks!
A great oasis in the midst of a day of wineries.A simple menu of foods sandwiches and salads. The bread on my ham and swiss was the highlight and was well matched with the ingredients.A few, but good, assortment of craft beers on tap. You can get a tasting of wines or big a glass or bottle. I had a glass off an Italian red that the server suggested and it was great (Palazzi Nero dAvola)..
Stopped here on a wine tour and had a great time! Super friendly staff and lots of stuff to check out. They also do beer flights!
Had a great time here friendly staff and good drinks will definitely be going back the next chance I get !!!!!!
I just had a chicken salad sandwich on oatmeal molasses bread and it was the best chicken salad sandwich I have ever eaten. I will definitely be back!
