First and foremost, coffee was excellent. I generally only ever get a vanilla latte and trust me, I have had a gamut of different experiences ordering just that. This place nailed it. Right combination of foam, milk, syrup, and superb coffee. Seating was lacking due to people industriously working away on laptops. Definitely worth the visit to just sit, relax and enjoy excellent coffee. Seating outside if the weather permits.

FABULOUS coffee/tea, breathtaking macron cookies based in almond flour! I have a rice allergy as well as being celiac so it’s very hard to find baked goods that I can eat, much less being this delicious. One of my favorite places to go when I’m in the area. Highly recommend!

I like a good local coffee shop. My latte had a bit more foam than I prefer but the coffee roast and flavor was good. The people were supper friendly and it has a great comfy vibe. Worth the stop for sure. Everything they were baking smelled pretty amazing too.

After getting a haircut at the local Vanity Salon I decided to visit Agora for a cold cup of cold coffee with cream. The coffee/bookstore has a very hipster vibe. The barista was very friendly and took her time to ask me how my day was coming along? Everyone is so friendly at the store. There are so many inviting areas to sit inside the cafe. I chose to sit in their backyard which turned out to be a perfect little oasis for me. I saw two other customers enjoying the outdoor garden area while they worked on their laptops. Clearly a very chill place to read a book or to work on your laptop as you sip any one of their drinks or snacks. I liked my cold coffee as I listened to relaxing French music on my iPhone. The atmosphere is so relaxing that I ended up spending more time there than I had planned to. I will definitely be visiting again alone and with my husband. I can totally see myself journaling there in the garden next time with another delicious cup of cold coffee.

This is the type of place I would have loved in college, but as an adult, Im not as charmed by.This place has a lot of promise, and I hope it gets a chance to deliver. The coffee menu is extensive, and the baristas do take care to create well-crafted drinks. Theyre all a little heavy on the milk and cream usage, and skew very much on the specialty coffees, rather than pure coffee drinks.Same with the food. Lots of potential, but nothing that quite hits the mark.Its got a nice vibe, but theres not a lot of covid safety practice happening. The baristas were mostly wearing masks, but very few of the patrons were. Didnt seem like there was any social distancing happening.

Such a lovely coffee shop. The spaces are quaint and feel warm and comfortable. The staff are friendly and helpful and the drinks and pastries are delicious. Highly recommended.

A favorite downtown. The staff is warm and friendly, environment cozy and inviting, coffee and tea menu expansive and each pastry is baked with care. I especially like their matcha lattes, the prepared oatmeals and to go salads, and the blueberry muffins. If the weather is nice, enjoy the backyard garden patio. Agora, keep doing what you’re doing! :)

This is the first time Ive been to Agora and the coffee was amazing. The staff were friendly and greet you with a smile. An excellent menu to choose from as well. A very nice patio with tables out back to meet up with friends. I highly recommend 👌

Came here based on reviews and dang, I was not disappointed, we are trying all kinds of coffees on our week vacation and this place is up on the list, I got a caramel and coconut latte and it’s killer! My kids had their pumpkin muffin and chocolate chip muffin and loved them! They sell local artists artwork which I am always a fan of and the staff was so nice, they gave good suggestions and it was just an all around great experience!

Fredericksburg has become one of my favorite Virginia cities. My first time visit to Agora. Ordered several hot and iced coffees along with numerous muffins and other pastries. Exceptional coffee, multitude of choices. All our choices were great. Pastry chef knows his stuff. Every bite, simply delicious. The staff, each person, provides warm, courteous service. Not much Dine area. If you visit The Fred, Agora is s definite stop. Prepare for a line. Tip generously.

Amazing coffee, freshly roasted on site. Wonderful atmosphere. Friendly staff. Nice selection of local art and books by local authors (as well as a very affordable used books section). Creative and tasty baked goods and sandwiches. Out of this world macarons.

Great customer service at this coffee shop. I tried the spicy chai (which was delicious!) And my husband had an iced latte with rose and cardamom (forgot the name) that was also really delicious. I love their outdoor space too in the back.

Very nice hometown coffee shop! Just moved to the area so we always look for a local coffee shop and this is our favorite! They roast the coffee in house and it is super smooth, no bite! They also carry several Gluten Free baked goods which is a plus for us as well. Didnt realize they had Gluten free items until our 3rd trip in, look closely at the chart on the case or just ask. Super friendly staff, very helpful, all around great place! Cool fact, the building was built in 1787, plaque on front, which makes it one of the oldest downtown! Highly recommend!!

Agora has excellent coffee, pastries, and food. If you are vegan and struggling to find some yummy options downtown, then this is the spot. The music is great, the staff is incredibly kind and accommodating, the bathrooms are clean, and I have never disliked what I ordered. Their patio is a gem and fragrant with flowers and pollinators.They have an abundance of seating with ample outlets. I cannot praise this place enough.

Agora has it all: great service, food, and drink creations - I especially love their steamer with beet juice which makes it perfectly pink. Everyone is warm and welcoming, the space is cozy and unique, and the freshly baked delectables are creative and pleasing. There is a lovely outside space, too, with a pergola. You can’t go wrong here.

The best coffee shop ever! Where else can you get an apple pie latte, either hot or cold, year-round and drink alcohol inside and on their pet-friendly patio? Its family-owned by sisters and they really care about their customers. The ambience is great too.

Very nice folks and a good array of coffee choices. I usually go for my Peppermint tea. For those avid readers, there is a nice used book selection and an outdoor patio.

Agora has a very friendly staff, a very unique selection of coffee drinks featuring fruit juices and spices - very delicious combinations. The building has has a lot of nooks and crevices that give you a lot of privacy. It has a small library, chess and other games to use. Theres a store in the front section of the coffee shop featuring local artists and a nice patio in the back of you want to sit outside. The seating is arranged to make social distancing easy. Agora is a must for the curious: unique flavors and lots to see and try.

This is my favorite coffee shop in Fredericksburg and possibly on the east coast. I love it all; there’s an awesome artistic vibe, they make consistent sustainable efforts, they have friendly staff and downright delicious food. I love their vegan alternatives like veggie wraps, oat milk and amazing baked goods. There’s indoor and outdoor seating with cozy quiet corners. Lots of art to admire and buy if you want, used books for sale and an overall community/ hometown feel that my soul yearns for. Weather you’re a local or a visitor, skip Starbucks and visit Agora coffee - you won’t be disappointed.

I ordered a blended espresso. They said that they had to mix some ingredients, and the process would take ten extra minutes. I wasn’t in a hurry and said I’d wait. They seemed a little annoyed, but I didn’t think much of it. About twenty minutes pass, and I’m brought my coffee. The server was nice, apologized for taking so long and gave me a coupon for a free coffee. I thought that was sweet. I took my coffee and left. My coffee tasted great, nothing was unusual. However about 30 minutes later I got severe hot flashes, soaked myself in sweat. I was dizzy and had to pull over on the side of the road. I vomited and was feeling terrible for a little over a hour. I can’t say for sure that it was the coffee that did this to me, but I definitely won’t be back to try another one! NOT RECOMMENDED

If I could give zero stars, I would & heres why:They will no longer have my business. If they cant stand behind our LE who protect our community, then I wont support this coffee shop. Canceling a great and always loved community event over social views is unacceptable and bad business practices.

Nice options besides coffee are available here. I got a delicious lavender lemonade. Very hipster if you want to feel young. They also had cool, local art and books for sale that would make nice gifts. They had indoor and outdoor seating available.

Im honestly not sure how I havent posted a review for Agora yet. Im as regular as you can get for not being a regular, but I truly love Agora, its staff, and its vision with a passion. This place is the best and only adds to making Fredericksburg a great place. Youre guaranteed to feel welcomed and youre guaranteed to get an amazing drink or baked good. (Or two, or three!) Even with the Chatham Bridge currently under construction, Ill go out of my way to stop in and grab something. Theyre renowned for their muffins, but Im a HUGE fan of their scones. You wont regret taking the time to pay them a visit!

I love visiting home grown coffee shops. The coffee here is great. I absolutely love the brown sugar cinnamon latte. Their pastries are yummy. And, to top it off, they are in one of the oldest buildings in Fredericksburg. Whats not to love?!

I’m not sure what’s going on, but my coffee was so distinctively terrible that I dumped it out. There was a taste that was awful to my palette. Just a medium roast to go. It is exceptionally rare to be so awful. Maybe it’s a one time thing???

The area inside is nice i feel alittle bit out of my element here they are friendly and all, just the no dogs thins in the back area is kinda why i left three stars... i get it and understand. but maybe a cold earlgrey could be a menu option, and less snacks more wholsome filling foods. and cleaning up the back area would be nice, sortof messy and unkept.

My husband and I were just passing through the area, so we stopped at Agora on our way out, and we were not disappointed! First of all, their lattes are perfect. He got the brown sugar cinnamon latte and I got the orange cinnamon mocha, and we both absolutely loved them. But even more than just great coffee, I value great costumer service. Every single one of the baristas were kind, friendly, and helpful. They made us feel welcome the moment we walked in. Would definitely recommend Agora Downtown Coffee Shop! ☕

A personal favorite coffeeshop for when traveling between Richmond and DC, and looking for a place to relax for an hour or two while traffic on I-95 goes down. Relatively easy parking. Good hours. Very calming atmosphere, especially in the back rooms.

I am absolutely heartbroken due to the recent events that occurred between Agora and the local law enforcement. This coffee shop was my favorite for years. I’m upset that we all could not put our political views on the back burner to have a friendly event. I unfortunately will not be going here again after four years of being a continued patron.

Agora has impressive ratings on Yelp- 5 stars and over 100 reviews. Visiting during the pandemic, the space looks nice with seating in the back by a bookshelf of books and a mural. The front of the house sells products and baristas make coffee drinks.My friend ordered a cappuccino and it wasnt made properly. It had way too much foam in it. My brown sugar latte was just okay. Nothing to write home about.
