I had to work a 12 hour shift the day we purchased the vehicle Johnny waited in the parking lot for me to be able to sign the purchase paperwork. I have never had a car dealership be so accommodating. Forever grateful. And will purchase all my vehicles at Pohanka Hyundai!
Nicole was the best! I appreciated how friendly responsive and how helpful she was though out the whole ordeal of my car repair. She was really kind and talked me through the whole process, good and bad. She gave me good advice and everything thing turned out perfectly.
It is always a quick 1st come 1st serve location.. The early bird get the worm.. Im always there before 0700 and its a fast in and out process. The people are great and keep me in the loop of the process for all my vehicle updates. Oil changes are quick and even tire rotations were quick.I will be back every oil change!
We purchased our second Santa Fe in 6 months from Pohanka. Tim, Roman, and the Finance department went above and beyond, yet again. Purchasing a vehicle has always been an ordeal... I would give it five stars, but because of the times and lack of techs (by no fault of their own) a relatively simple service took most of the day. The customer service representative Adam was very empathetic and explained everything up front. He even provided me with a discount/coupon. He kept me updated throughout the day on the status of my service via text and phone call. He made me very comfortable by being very transparent from beginning to end which makes me more comfortable returning in the future.
I typically do not write reviews, but I had such an awesome experience from the time I made my initial online inquiry! Sam was very responsive! And Charles was my salesman that was prepared the moment I walked in the door. We had never met in person but he remembered my name as soon as I walked in. Went in today to get 2 recalls updated and oil change. I arrived at 545 am and even though service doesn’t open till 6am I was greeted with a smile from Nicole who handled my issues with a great attitude and professionalism. I could write a very long description of my experiences with this dealership, but the bottom line was that I had a pretty negative experience overall and was misled and pressured in the transaction. I was sold an ostensibly new car that had actually been driven nearly 1000 miles by a manager and had electrical problems the minute I parked it in my driveway. On the plus side, they took the car back. On the negative, I find it hard to believe they werent aware of the problem to begin with. There were several other problems too, but Ill spare you the details.The sales manager, Sam, appeared accommodating and helpful until it became clear that I intended to return the car. Dont be fooled by first appearances and a strong google maps rating as I was.Overall, I would strongly advise that others do business elsewhere. If you do go, just know that they will try to play the typical dealer tricks where they mark up interest rates and tell you one thing to get you in the door, but another once you are in the dealership. Read everything with a fine tooth comb, including the several pages of contract that the finance guy scrolls by on the ipad and doesnt tell you about. Oh--and make sure that $1500+ in mystery charges dont show up somewhere between the estimate you are given in advance and the paperwork you are signing. And know too that if you leave something super important like your original marriage license at the dealership because they rush you out at the end of the night, they will mysteriously never be able to locate it. Best of luck to you if you choose to take the risk with this dealership.
Excellent service! Broke down while driving across the country. Car was diagnosed with an engine issue that fell squarely within the Hyundai engine warranty, so it was fixed free of charge.Couldnt have been happier with the support from Adam, to keep handle all the paperwork and keep us abreast of the repairs.Would recommend this dealership - its one of the good ones.

Ryan, service advisor, helped me in the process as soon as got there. It was my first-time in that shop and Ryan told explained what i neef to know. Though it took a while before my car got fix, but Ryan kept me posted that theyre still working on my car. It was 140,000 miles service maintenance and my car is running great again. What a complete disaster. I wouldn’t recommend this Hyundai dealership to a traveling pack of fleas. I purchased a vehicle that is overpriced, so I just deal with it. But to make matters worse I have had to deal with the craziness and complete horrible staff at Pohanka Hyundai of Fredericksburg. Not only did they place the wrong tire on my car, but they don’t want to accept fault. If I hadn’t told them not to throw away my tire, I would have never been able to prove the mistake they made. Instead of the service department apologizing and looking into the issue they treated me poorly and rudely, when they were at fault. When my car went in for service, it came back out with issues. I had to go to another Hyundai dealership, out of the area, to get the repairs and service I needed. Spent additional money but, at least I received proper service, a great customer appreciation, and I knew the job was done right. So thank you Checkered Flag Hyundai of Virginia Beach! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Shout out to Shannon!!
Charles is a fantastic person to deal with when buying a car, specially Sam (General Manager). I must say that this was my best car shopping experience ever. The salesman was very informative and he was answering every question of ours patiently. I was at Pohanka for state inspection, oil change and tire rotation but since the Hyundai service dept was closed due to repairs I was sent to the Nissan service dept and was waited on by Adam Zaccagino who was of great assistance to me. He was polite, courteous,knowledgeable and willing to help me in any way possible and to go the extra mile. He gave 100 percent of his time making me feel very comfortable.

Takes way too long there, had an app. Still took two and half hour, all employees were nice, work done was good,had to make two trips there to get work done? This place is super busy, everyone works hard I think. Hard to get in and out, traffic there is nuts, but We love our Hyundia

We really wanted a Palisade but at the time they’re harder to find than toilet paper in March of 2020. We drove up from Richmond after calling and speaking to Charles, who told us they had some in stock. I couldn’t get the color I wanted (not his fault) but he was still extremely helpful and kind even though we showed up so late in the evening. We were able to leave the lot in our brand new 2022 Palisade! Thank you again Charles!

I appreciate excellent customer service which it is limited to find these days. However on 6/4/2020, I took my car in for my 45,000 service and ran after my 6am online scheduling. I was told it will be 2 hours to been seen, however as I looked out the window my car was gone. Within waiting 1.5 hours along with other cars before me I was out the door. My car ran better and they washed it so that saved me a wash.

This review is based on the hard work of one employee in particular, Nicole. Due to staffing shortage and hundreds of work orders, it took the service department over a month to diagnose and fix my car. I was told by several individuals that my car had engine failure, I was then told my car was never diagnosed. I was getting frustrated to be honest. Nicole then came to rescue. She got things moving fast! (my car did have engine failure) She communicated effectively and really made my experience with Pohanka much better. Thank you Nicole for your hard work and customer service.

I worked with Larry McGill and you will not find a more service oriented sales person. I do not tolerate the sales pitch or pressure often associated with car buying and this is problematic for sales persons who use that to make a deal. With Larry, that is not an issue. He listens to your requirements, considers your demands and patiently answers your questions. Additonally, through conversation, he evaluates your car buying knowledge, and resopnds accordingly. I would recomend Pohanka Hyundai of Fredericksburg and recomend that you ask for Larry when you go in. And no, the is not a pre sale review, the car has been in the driveway for 3 days.

I scheduled my service appointment over a week ago, called to discuss the service needed and received an email confirmation. After a 40-minute drive this morning I was told that Pohanka Hyundai Service couldnt even look at my car for 2.5 WEEKS! Im not complaining about them being short of technicians or taking a couple of weeks to look at my car. There is just no excuse for them to have had 3 chances to make an appointment they could keep and then not caring enough to call and let me know not to come. Im doing my best to find another dealership not too far away so I can avoid ever doing business with Pohanka again. DO NOT GO TO THIS DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE!
I wish I had been able to make an appointment to have service done on my Hyundai. I had to wait on my car because they dont make appointments. I took a chance and only had to wait two hours which wasnt too terrible long. I was very surprised and pleased that my car had also been washed. That was a big plus for me.
This review is for my first visit where I bought a car at the Pohanka Hyundai side. The issues were finally fixed after months, but handled by the Pohanka Nissan side who were wonderful. A separate review of the positives is posted on the Nissan page.If I could give negative stars, I would in a heart beat. A seller who no longer works at Pohanka Hyundai sold me a vehicle claiming it had features it did not. He also agreed at the time of purchase to repair some paint damage on the car, but I immediately noticed there were more issues with the car. We had an appointment set up to fix the service issues, paint issues and install the promised feature (remote start). After finding out that my seller left the company, I was passed to his boss Sam. Sam missed the first appointment we had set because after I told him the date, he did not return any of my calls the preceding week. Other staff members would tell me that they spoke to Sam letting him know that I was trying to reach him about the appointment and he would lie to them and tell them he handled it or that he had already called me. Next Sam tried to cut me a check to go take care of the missing remote start, but back out of the remaining commitments saying he could not get someone to assist with the car swap. Finally, we got back on the original agreement and he sent me a second date for an appointment, I agreed to that date, but again, Sam fell out of contact. By the time he returned my calls, that appointment date was no longer an option so we had to pick a 3rd date. This was now 3 months from the original purchase that I finally had a commitment to address issues from the sale. Had the issues been addressed, I would have been pleased despite the hassle it took to get here and poor initial sales experience, but my car was returned with only some of the paint damage fixed and none of the service issues taken care of. When I finally got in touch with Sam again about the issues that were not handled, he told me he had taken better car of my car than his new cars and that he was done dealing with it. I spent 3 months calling the dealership and Sam directly trying to get them to just uphold our original agreement and during that time, I was lied to, blown off, disrespected, and gas lit, just to get my car back in almost the same condition I sent it in. I appreciated the other staff at the dealership who tried to help me, but it all came back to Sam and when Sam wouldnt allow them to help me or help me himself, there wasnt much anyone could do.

I wanted an oil change. The mechanic Neil never tightened up the plug for the oil pan. So I leaked oil from my brand new Hyundai. I had to go back for them to fix it, but they refused to give me a summary stating that they worked on my car a second time. I called back and asked for a summary, they never helped me. DO NOT GO HERE. Not satisfied, cant trust them, they dont want to be held accountable for their mistakes.

We asked on this visit for my cabin filter to be checked because we were going to take a trip out of town. Something just made us want to double to check it. We get back from the trip & check it and it’s completely filthy & completely full of debris. That doesn’t happen in one trip. It’s issues like this that make us feel that the service center isn’t always up to par.

Initially a strong experience but my disgust with who they setup financing through is so strong I have to lower my review.I have a strong credit score: over 800 and was saddled with credit union loan source a company that does not even accept online payments without an additional fee.Irritating and outrageous, if that had been disclosed to me I would have chosen other me financing or simply gone elsewhere, as I guess we’ll be doing in the future

Sandy worked with me to determine what repairs to get done and while waiting for my car to be done, I witnessed her helping another customer on what she could do to resolve her problem with her vehicle. Sandy showed patience towards her clients.
I was so frustrated with Pohanka Hyundai of Fredericksburg. We bought our Elantra in April 2015 at this dealership. With only 33,000 miles the engine was knocking badly back in April this year. We dropped it to this dealership and after 3 weeks they said they still haven’t looked into the problem because they have too many vehicles to fix. Worst, the lady I spoke at the service department told me if it’s an engine problem, we have to shoulder the expenses for repairs since it is not covered with warranty. I was pretty sure it would be covered because I received a mail about the engine issues with 2011 to 2016 Elantra. The lady said she’s in front of her computer and simply said our car is not one of those under recall. They simply denied that my car was not eligible for a free engine replacement. She was rude and so I brought my car to another dealership, Koons Woodbridge Hyundai and this dealership replaced the engine and we didn’t spend a cent because as what the service advisor, Elliott Anderson, said it was under warranty. Our car is running great now thanks to Koons Woodbridge Hyundai! I hope the Hyundai Company will investigate this kind of dealership who are not doing their job.

Got a beautiful Sonata from Pohanka! Don’t let the sticker price get you too excited though. My used 2018 was marked up almost $2000 after a $899 processing fee and $895 reconditioning fee which I think is kind of a joke! Other than that wonderful people good first car buying experience!

The service personnel that assisted me was very polite and very professional. I will recommend friends to go there. They have a great seating area for customers
My wife and I were delighted with the prompt, friendly and courteous service we received at our most recent recall service at Capitol Heights Pohanka. We arrived promptly at about 7:40am expecting to spend the morning reading the newspapers and books that we brought along, so we were totally caught out by having our car back with the recall service performed in a very short time. Thank you all very much, it was a pleasure to have such a brief visit.
Absolutely horrible to deal with when trying to have your car serviced. First, I called, was told to bring it in, then was told i don’t know why they would have told you that. Took my info and said would call me when parts were in. Two months later, I call to see what’s up. They had no record of my visit. Was again told to bring it in. Asked to book an appointment but was told they would have to look at it first. Wife takes it in, they only take her info and tell her she has to book an appointment two weeks out. This place is a joke, avoid at all cost. They might have nice cars and sales people but what good does that do if you won’t ever be able to get service.
I came into the dealership for 2 concerns. While it may have taken longer than expected, Adam was really great. I also appreciate the extra effort the mechanic put forth to make sure my car was ok. I will definitely go back to Pohanka for my car concerns.
Fred, was my service rep. From the time I walked in to my oil changed, I was greeted with a smile and asked how could I be helped, less than two minutes they were in my car getting it ready for oil change, I was told probably one hour an a half, my car was truly ready much lesser time. Pohanka Hyundai in Fredericksburg will always be the place I will take my vehicle for service. Thanks Fred 😊for the great customer service I was provided!!!!!!
I have been a customer with Pohanka since 2015 and they have yet to disappoint. My salesperson, Justin, was great and guided me through the process with no worries as I got my second car. If you are in search of a new car definitely stop by!
I am a Hyundai advocate, purchased 4 so far but todays treatment by the Service Dept did not make me happy. I called Mon over a misfiring 3rd cylinder on my 2017 Hyundai with only 50K miles and was told no need for an Appt to come in Wed around 10am because that is our slowest time. I arrived and was told they were all full for diagnostics and to make an appointment and come back. So I drove back to my home 45min away limping my vehicle back home and hoping I didnt cause any damage driving it on 3 cylinders to my car. Now I have to drive it back again misfiring for 45min my appointment that I was told I didnt need and waste more vacation time from work.Updated: Wouldnt let me put zero stars They claimed I had bad plugs and injectors needed cleaned. Paid for injectors cleaned but not paying $500 for new spark plugs. Said my coils were good. Took it to my mechanic at King Automotive and he changed the plugs and now my 2nd cylinder was misfiring and there is a Hyundai Technical bulletin on my coils that are bad for my model and year. He asked me if I took it to the dealer! Took it back and they reviewed the bulletin and then fixed my car changing out the bad coils. I wasted money on changing my plugs and injector cleaning when this was not needed. Pohanka maintenance has gone downhill.
Between myself and my family members, we have purchased 5 vehicles in the past from Pohanka of Fredericksburg. In the past, they had great customer service. However, after this last attempt at a purchase, I will not recommend this location nor buy from this location again.My husband, myself and my father-in-law went in to purchase a vehicle on July 1st for my father in law and were prepared to pay cash on the spot for the car. We were working with a salesman named Afshar. My father in law was looking for some features and color on the car and they did not have one in stock with the features and color he wanted. They were able to find a vehicle at another location with the features, but not the color. We were told if we put a deposit of $1000, the car would be put on a truck and delivered within 2 days. If he didnt like the color, we could get the deposit back the same day. We put the deposit down right away after we clarified twice we would for sure get the deposit back the same day if we didnt like the car. Two days later we called Afshar to see if the car had come in (Saturday). He said no but it should be there Monday. Monday comes and we contact him again. He said its still not in but should be there the next day. We called again the next day and was told the same thing. Wednesday (6 days later) comes and we call again to check on the car. At that time, Afshar advises the car was sold to someone who paid $5000 over asking price. We were upset enough about that, but then told him wed be coming by to get the deposit back. They had already cashed the deposit check for a vehicle we never even saw. We were then advised since we did a deposit by check, we couldnt get the check the same day and it would need to be sent from corporate to them and then mailed to us. I told Afshar I didnt want it mailed to us and we would pick it up at the dealership when it arrived. He said it would be there in a day or two. Two days later we called to see if it came in and were told another couple of days. Each time, he would put us on hold and check with his manager. The same trend as the vehicle arriving. After checking multiple times and getting the run around and getting the managers voicemail when trying to contact him instead, we finally asked for corporates number. Only then was the manager put on the phone with us. To his credit, Sam did follow up with us and get us the deposit back, but it was 2 days after we contacted him and 16 days after the deposit was made. We literally had no vehicle option and had to wait 16 days to get our money returned.

Adam in the service department addressed some concerns I had from a previous visit, and made sure to make them right. He went through each item carefully and was thoughtful and helpful with each.
I recently had to take my vehicle to Pohanka Hyundai/Capitol Heights for service and I must say it was a pretty good experience. Of all the years Ive owned my Sonata, Ive only used one other Hyundai dealer and between the 2, Pohanka Hyundai of Capitol Heights is my preference. Kudos to Mr. Will Bishop, my service rep, who was up front and honest about the needed repairs to my vehicle, and there were many! Not only was he friendly, but he was patient and extremely knowledgeable in explaining what and WHY many of the repairs were necessary. Prior to taking my vehicle in, I already knew what many of the problems were so I didnt get the feeling that he cheating me by quoting unnecessary repairs. He also provided additional service recommendations so I didnt feel forced to get all of the work done right away. In comparison, many of us know that service shops tend to make you think that everything is a priority. Thank you Mr. Bishop for being fair and honest, for providing clarity, and making sure my vehicle was serviced and ready for pickup as promised! Keep up the good work!
