Have been looking for a new bike with little luck on stock or fit for quite some time. Called in to Drake Cycles and they had just built several bikes in the type and fit I was looking for. Shout out to Grayson for helping me out and getting me on my way with a new ride. Highly recommend for top quality products and service!
Excellent customer service all around. Eric made sure every detail was correct on my new bike before heading out the door, and answered every question I had during the process. They also have a decent stock of bikes, which continues to be a challenge at other shops. Would strongly recommend if you are in the market for a new ride.
It’s only been a few months that I’ve called Drake Cycles “my local bike shop”, but every time I’m in there, they’ve been nothing but helpful. If you need a bike shop to call your own, I’d suggest these dudes.
Wow, after today’s experience I just had to put in a review. I’ve had work done on my mountain bike here before and was very happy with the service.Today, I took in my road bike for a tuneup assessment. It has been several years since I last had any work done on it. They checked for wheel bearing and bottom bracket wear, brakes, chain and cassette, wheel true, cables, shifting, etc. They essentially gave me a clean bill of health and said no work was necessary at this point. Their full tuneup is comprehensive and only $90!I will be back in the fall to have the work done. So glad I went in to Drake cycles to Have my bike checked out today!
Great experience. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Highly recommend.
Excellent shop. Good, prompt service. Good mtn bike rentals.
Best professional bike shop in Fort Collins. Highly skilled, fully certified bike mechanics. After years of receiving 1st rate dependable service and consistent customer support at reasonable prices, I can recommend this place to anyone needing quality, affordable bicycle service. I trust Drake cycles to fully prepare my all wheel drive E-Fat bike, which I depend on for extended winter use at my remote Rocky Mountain property every year and they have never let me down.
Very disappointed. Tried to get new tires here, but they wouldnt install double downs with cush core. The guy behind the counter said it wasnt possible even though Ive had 4 sets put on. Then he changed the reason to maxxis doesnt want them to which is fine but dont give a fake reason the first time around. Also I was willing to buy the tire even if the bead got messed up during an installation, and they blew me off. Very rude and short about the whole thing. Went to Pedal Pushers bought my tires and they installed in 10 minutes no issue except a little elbow grease. Dont go here if youre serious about biking.
Folks here are always helpful.
Great shop. Super knowledgeable and friendly. Me and my wife went on separate occasions (after flats) and agreed, this is our new bike shop!
This is a very good shop it is clean and they get your stuff done fast
I highly recommend Eric and this awesome bikeshop! If you remember what a real bakeshop is like, before online and big box and manufacturer shops and you miss it, go here! These guys built me some wheels for my old bike, its a 2011, and they were straight forward, and offered solutions and options, and communicated brilliantly. They really know what theyre doing and it shows. Go here and buy some stuff! A new bike, parts, service whatever you need to motivate you to go ride!
We bought my wife a hybrid that had been a shop rental. The service during the sale was excellent but it went down hill from there. When we returned the bike for its first scheduled maintenance, my wife explained that there was a sporadic low clunking sound coming from the drive train. We both hear it on every ride, occurring every 10 minutes or so. After having the bike serviced, the sound is still there even though they were confident that had solved it. Its still there and its so annoying that she doesnt even like to ride it, riding one of her older bikes instead. And since we have no confidence in the shop to solve it, we have now taken it to another shop for repair.
Knowledgeable and friendly staff, quality service, and an overall positive experience. Shop had lots of bikes, parts and accessories to offer as well. Definitely coming back here.
Stopped in today for some new pedals for my 1984 Panasonic road bike. I didnt want the old style and instead was offered some mountain bike options. Long story short I was set up with some Crankbrothers Stamp 1 smalls and they are awesome! Great staff and I always enjoy stopping in. This is hands down my favorite bike shop in town. If you havent been here yet do yourself a favor and stop in when you have a chance!
I don’t think I could possibly be more un-satisfied with my service at Drake Cycles.TLDR: I took my bike in for service and to have a minor shifting issue looked at. It was returned to me incorrectly reassembled, in a way that was dangerous and could only come from negligent-carelessness, or incompetence. Surly service and failure to meet a promised delivery timeline are annoying, but wouldn’t move me sufficiently to write a review. Drake Cycles put me in danger.I was planning my first bikepacking trip. My bike had a couple hundred miles since its last service, and the shifting was misbehaving, so getting a tune prior to the trip made sense.I brought it in and told the team I would need it by Thursday. They said it would cost me $15 extra to get it finished by then, which I agreed was very acceptable.Thursday evening I hadn’t received a call, but was nearby and dropped in to hopefully pick up my bike. The same guy that said it would be $15 to fast-track my bike was in the shop, and when I described the bike I was here to pick up he said ‘oh yea that bike has only been in for like three days right? Our normal turnaround is a week.’ Now, I can’t speak for the tone he intended, but the tone as I perceived it may as well have included “...you idiot.” This is where my ‘surly’ comment came from. When I reminded him he had committed to have it done that evening, for an extra $15, he backpedaled and said he’d knock some cost off when I picked it up the next day.The bikepacking bags were new and had arrived while the bike was in the shop. When I tested my setup the day I picked up my bike (and the day we intended to depart), one of the bags wasn’t a viable fit and I ended up having to cancel the planned overnight trip. This bag fit issue certainly isn’t the fault of Drake Cycles, but it would have been nice to know the evening before, and seek solutions. This is where my ‘undelivered timeline promise’ comment came from.My friend and I decided to do a day trip to Buffalo Creek, south of Denver, in lieu of the overnight CT trip. We began with a climb, and in the first few hundred yards I was immediately disappointed with the shifting. It seemed to be worse than it was before I brought it in, and before they replaced the derailleur hanger and derailleur.I carried on a bit further, hoping the new parts just needed to settle. I came over a small knoll and tapped my brakes, at which point my rear wheel seized up and twisted within the frame. The Drake team had left my rear wheel loose enough that it failed within the first mile of riding. The silver lining is probably that I discovered this incompetence on a climb, going relatively slowly, instead of as a catastrophic failure at-speed on a descent. Image attachedI tightened my rear axle, hoping that would resolve the shifting issues. It did not. We tried to tweak the barrel adjuster to see if we could keep riding and avoid the six hour round trip being a total waste. With a small amount of adjustment the chain came all the way off the inside of the largest ring, which in my amateur opinion implied the limit screws were not accurately adjusted. At this point I decided I don’t trust any of the work Drake Cycles had done on my bike. It seemed like they had just forgotten entire tightening portions of the tune up. This is where my negligent-carelessness and/or incompetence comment came from. I walked and coasted my way back down to the car. When I got back to Fort Collins, I brought it to another shop Ive used before. They took a look and said ‘oh wow yea your limits are off.’ I’ve now purchased an additional tune, to fix Drake’s work, and to restore my trust that my bike is trail worthy.I will not be back to Drake Cycles. I would not even be interested in bringing the bike back to them to correct their poor work. Your mileage may vary.
My favorite bike shop in town! They are always eager to help and find you what you need. I never leave unhappy! I refer all of my friends here! Very respectful of the social distancing, and have taken extra precautions to keep up with COVID-19 keep up the hard work!
Drake Cycles squeezed me in to pop on a new chain and make some slight adjustments that got me back on the trails with minimum delay! Thanks for your quick service!
Eric and Joe have taken care of me since they have opened the shop. Ive bought 3 bikes from them and they have stood behind each one when they break with excellent service to make sure Im back riding quickly. Eric has also sewn amazing bags for my bikes making it easy to carry all my tools for every ride.
Love this shop, Eric 1, Eric 2 and Joe always get me taken care of in a hurry. A few weeks ago I blew up a hub so I had them rebuild the wheel for me. The manufacturer sent the wrong hub, so the owner actually loaned me his personal wheel until mine was done. Top notch!
Eric and staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Great store, great atmosphere, great prices. Definitely the place to go for quality bikes and accessories.
Missed a couple big details when I brought a bike I bought in to be checked before riding. In the end its my bike and Im responsible for it so if it was just that Id have given them another star for at least trying, but the fact that the manager/owner/not sure although he called the other guys working there his guys (roughly 56, brown hair, on the heavier side) felt the need to shove into my personal space, which since he outweighed me forced me almost back into a shelf, and then inform me that he didnt appreciate my opinion is why they get one star and will never get my business again. And I make sure to share this with everyone else I know whos looking into bikes because that level of creepy misogyny isnt something anyone should have to deal with.
Seems like a cool shop....BUT service was very poor! Refusing service to a paying customer because one of the mechanics wants to push his personal experience and agenda on a customer because HE thinks the customer doesnt know what they are doing is HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! Next time, ask some questions, dont just assume!
Ive been to most of the bike shops in town, and this is definitely the best one. These people love bikes, and without exception they all are helpful and friendly and get things fixed quickly. And, they are a Cannondale dealer. Enough said.
Incredible staff and store. The employees clearly love their work and are passionate about biking.
The people are very helpful when selecting bikes. Unfortunately I had a bike ordered and they built it tubless tires. The front tire would never stay filled. I brought it back in and they fixed it charged me only for materials. Unfortunately that didnt last long. I brought it to a different shop and they said they used the wrong size rim tape. Just annoying that I had to go somewhere else to get it fixed right.
Needed a brake bleed before this weekends ride.... everywhere else was 2 weeks wait... the drake crew took care of me quick and kept me shredding.
Amazing bike shop, and Id definitely recommend. Fast service, tons of new merchandise and extremely nice mechanics and management. Would seriously recommend to anyone serious about bikes, or even beginners looking to get into a new hobby. If youre neither, than its probably for a simple tune-up, which is definitely worth it. Visit the website as well.
They did an excellent full tune of my 5-year old bike. It looks and rides like new. I highly recommend!
Great shop! Always friendly and helpful, I drive across town just to see them is I need anything for my bikes.
1-28-2020Adding to this post from a year ago. After riding for 3,300 miles, I have to admit the bike performed perfectly in all those miles. In fact I didnt have to bring it in for any adjustments, which has never happened before riding that many miles. So I changed this to 5 stars, because they proved in the long run, they deserved it! I also brought my bike back for the overhaul again this year and is performing great. Good work guys.2019I picked Drake because they are rated as one of the best bike shops in Fort Collins. I brought my bike in for the pro-tune, which includes a complete assessment of the bike parts, wear etc. I am giving them 3 stars, because they eventually got my bike correct after 3 attempts of telling me it was good to go, but each time I went in it only took me a few minutes of riding to find obvious problems. I think they are better than this, however, I was disappointed in the amount of attempts to get it right. Not sure about returning, Ill have to think on it, they did finally get it right and the bike feels good now.
Excellent experience. Excellent service. Will be back.
Great bike shop. Friendly and willing to work with you. 5 stars.
These guys are great! I love Eric and joe and the rest of the boyz at the shop! I’ve bought 3 bikes from drake cycles and they’ve always taken care of us and the bikes! I’m not kidding if they had a bar it’d be my new regular hang out! Can’t say enough good things about this shop!!
Seriously impressed by this shop. Some of the best service and friendliest staff Ive ever experienced. I took my bike to a different shop in town a few months ago that didnt really fix anything or tell me whats going on with my bike. The guys at Drakes Cycles guys straight up told me my bike is trashed (Ive had it over 10 years) and explained everything wrong with it, then gave me several possible solutions. I appreciated the honesty and straight forward conversation with them. Plus my bike is riding like new again. Ill be back!
Slashed my tires on a pothole or something so I took my bike in to these guys. The turnaround was fast and while I was sitting outside drinking coffee the guy replacing my tires came out and asked if I wanted the same tires replaced on my bike because they were expensive. Cool of him to not assume. I will definitely be returning for any of my bike service needs.
Nice guys! Quick service. Edged and waxed my skis and helped me out with a dropper warranty no questions asked. Awesome! Will be back when I need services. Recommend 100%.
I live in Wyoming and was down in Fort Collins one day to ride horsetooth and decided to find a bike shop there to check out because with the bike shops in my town you never know if you’re getting a good mechanic and they’re fixing your bike correctly. There has been times when I have brought my bike in and they’ve done great and other times my bike felt worse then when I brought it in. Have even damaged parts and tried to cover it up. After reading good reviews about Drake Cycles I stopped in and instantly liked the shop feel. I’ve bought grips, had them do a full tune and replace my chain. Bike sounds and rides great now no creaking. The costumer service has been great and friendly. Have even been helped on Sunday when the place is closed which was really cool and helpful. Will definitely be making the drive down from Wyoming whenever the bike needs some work!!!
Great friendly shop!
Ive had work done on both my bikes here on more than one occasion, and they do a great job. All the guys are friendly and knowledgeable. Pricing for repairs is reasonable with quick turnaround time. The new shop is really nice and they have an impressive selection of mountain bikes from Rocky Mountain, Cannondale, and some others. They also have a good amount of gear and parts. I will continue to make this my go-to bike shop in town!
Great small shop...turned in to a fantastic larger shop! Great service, these guys have all the cool bikes and accessories! They even build custom bike bags upstairs! Highly recomended.
We rented bikes for the afternoon last minute. Eric was amazing. The service and straight warmth of the people there was wonderful. He fit us for our bikes to ensure the best possible ride.
I brought my bike into Eric at Drake Cycles because I had broken a cable for my gears. The first thing I noticed is that the atmosphere at Drake was so much different than the location I took my bike to for my last repair (a big shop off of Harmony). Unlike my experience with the other bike shop, Eric didnt treat me like I was a lower form of human life because I had a bike for the 90s and didnt wear a uniform when I cycle. He was positive, friendly, and very enthusiastic. Not the normal snobbishness I feel in some bike shops. He immediately got to work on my bike and had it fixed in a few minutes for a super great price. He also fixed my breaks, hub, trued my wheels and tightened by pedals while I waited. I expected to pay around $200 for everything. He charged me far, far less. I highly recommend him to anyone who is looking for a repair facility with quality service and great prices.
Great service! The gentleman (I didnt catch his name) recommended an upgrade of service, which I couldnt do at the time. He was not pushy when I said I couldnt do the upgrade. Remembered me when I picked up, I was getting my bike tuned up, without even giving my name. And my bike is running smooth. Super awesome, would recommend to anyone!
If you’re into amazing bikes, service, and a great experience, then you need to come see Drake Cycles. These guys are the best in the business! Just picked up an amazing Rocky Mountain Instinct and these guys got it dialed for me! Thanks guys!
Stopped in on my way home because my tires were way too flat to ride. The guys working were very nice and hooked me with some air. Thanks for your help! I will definitely be back next time I need a tune up or parts
I worked with Eric and Joe to get my cracked cannondale frame all taken care of. The warranty process was quick. Communication was excellent and the new bike is running smooth! Thanks!
Best cycle shop in town! Knowledgeable and friendly staff, reasonable prices, great selection, and always quality work! Would definitely recommend to anyone that needs their bike serviced!
This place is so good! Its small but they know what is trending, cool and new. The bike techs have done a stellar job on all my bikes from road to mountain. They even tricked out a Klunker for me (i get compliments on it all the time). I have visited just about every shop in Fort Collins but this is the only one that gives me that warm and fuzzy feeling.
Ive been taking my bikes to Drake Cyclery off and on for over three years, and they have become my exclusive bike shop for the last year and a half. I cant recommend them enough for their solid, affordable work and approachable character. Eric and his staff are down to earth and easy to talk to, especially when comparing them to other bike shops and mechanics Ive interacted with. I know a bit about bikes, but not a ton, and these guys are willing to talk through any questions I have without making me feel stupid or like Im not worthy of being considered a cyclist. They will have my business for a long time.
This is the second time Ive been into Drake Cyclery. The first time was for a tune up and a new chain, Erik did an awesome job; I couldnt believe I was riding the same bike...I had become so accustomed to hearing clanking around and fighting friction. He made the bike feel like new again. This time, I needed new tires. Again, he helped me choose the most ideal tires for my situation and had the install completed very quickly. For any of your bike repairs, I would highly recommend going to Drake Cyclery.
I have taken my road bike in twice to Eric, and both times I came away very impressed. These guys are laidback, but they totally know bikes. They wont oversell you, but they go the extra mile to ensure your bike is riding as it should be. I feel like they short change themselves in what they charge to the customers benefit. I will continue to take my bike there with confidence!
Excellent, knowledgeable staff that lives vicariously through your bike! They will make sure your bike is in tip top condition for your rides and not over charge you for it. They believe in good service at a good price to keep people happy and coming back. I know Ill be back! Thanks guys!
Went in a year ago to buy some bike tires and the guy behind the counter told me the tires I wanted wouldn’t work for the bike I was on-so I went somewhere else and I’ve been on them for a year now- I’ve read the previous reviews and decided to give them another chance, -today I went in for a rear Der hanger and he stopped me at my tracks-told me he had to see the bike before he could order it, told me there were over 500 different kinds and blah blah-so I left. Went to another cycle shop and picked up the part I needed-because the old one was in my pocket and all we had to do was match it. Not sure why my money isn’t good enough for them-But I won’t be back to find out.
These guys are great, did a rebuild of my reverb stealth dropper post on a very short turn around time. Nobody else in town was equipped to do this on a short timeline. Even though I do almost all my own bike work, will definitely be back. Do yourself a favor and check these guys out!
Great staff with excellent customer service. They fixed up my old bike and it rides like new. These guys really know their stuff and I wont hesitate to have them help me with all of my upcoming bike needs.
Ive only been to this place once to get my bike tuned and have one wheels spokes realigned and tightened. I wanted to try somewhere else, other than the place I bought my bike. The ppeople here are very understanding went it comes to bikes and they seem to actually want to help compared to being forced to help my so that they get payed. Very good service and amazing atmosphere.
Just got a bike part and they helped put it on without charge and they have really good service
Weve bought several bikes and were sure to have Joe and crew tune everything up every spring! Wouldnt go anywhere else. Fair prices and exceptional service!
Top notch staff who are down to earth! I went in to buy a chain removal tool for my sons bike, and they had just sold their last one. The man (sorry I dont know his name) who was working on a bike told me to just take his and return it when I could! You can bet that in the future, when I buy a bike, it will be here!! Thank you for the help!
Awesome shop and great people too. Very good prices on some nice new Rocky Mountain bikes. The guys were happy to answer all of my questions even on my cheap budget build.
Joe and Eric run a great shop. Almost always can do service on the spot for me (this might be a winter specific quality). Willing to explain whats going on with the bike and bring it down to a really simple level to understand. Definitely recommend this shop, check it out!
I usually don’t write reviews but I do think Drake’s absolutely deserves an excellent review for their excellent customer service. We wanted to get a bike helmet for our toddler and Eric was extremely responsive and helpful picking one out and trying to order it for us before Christmas. Unfortunately due to UPS shipping delays we couldn’t get the helmet before Christmas and also not the color we wanted so we ended up getting a helmet at our other trusted bike store out of town. However, Drake’s cyclery will have our business in the future! Thanks Eric for auour help and excellent service!
Stopped in to buy some mtb tubes. They were quite expensive even with a 10% discount. I asked for standard length valve stems but they sold me the extra long ones. Didnt notice this until I opened one up the next day. This wouldnt have happened if they had their tubes on display instead of in the repair area.
These guys are the bomb. Always helpful, always nice. Prices are stellar. Using them for all of my tune ups and upgraded from now on!
I Bought a Rocky Mountain thunderbolt here I needed some help locating a part . They put me on hold for 15min than I tried calling back again they promised to give me a call back at 10 when they open I will be buying my next bike eles where.
Went in to get new brake cables, brake hoods, and handlebar wrapping. Ended up replacing my chain too. The guy who helped me (Eric? Sorry, I forget!) was really nice. Im just a student cyclist, with an old beat-up road bike, but he was super courteous and explained the break down of the prices to me clearly. I wound up paying less than I expected, and getting my bike back and riding it out of the shop felt like the first day I got it. Definitely a nice spot!
Good shop with helpful guys.
Always an easy and great experience.
I just got my gravel bike cleaned and tuned and my God I have never felt this bike so smooth before! Not even from the first day I had it worked thiss well! Thank you very much Drake cycles for all your help! And shout out to the mechanic Max! You guys keep killing it
They people care a lot about their bikes, quality, and making sure people get what they want and need. True experts. Relaxed atmosphere
Shop owner Eric treats casual cyclists and dedicated road warriors with the same attention and respect. For background, my adult son took his mountain bike here for a tuneup, and I took my el-cheapo road bike here to get the cassette changed out. Prices are reasonable, too.
I took my bike in because the chain has been slipping gears on the cassette. I was told that a Full Tune would be good for my bike because the brakes werent adjusted quite right and the wheels werent true. I told him I wanted whatever would fix the chain slipping. He said that would do the job. I gave him my name and number and he told me that he didnt have much going on that day so he might be able to get it done before the end of the day. In the next sentence, he told me that if I didnt get a call saying it was done, to just come in. I think its an odd business to not call people to tell them their bikes are fixed, ESPECIALLY if youve JUST TOLD me that youre not busy. So, I went to pick my bike up today (never did get that phone call) and its filthy. The Full Tune is supposed to include a bike wipe down. Maybe Im confused, but I thought that meant hed wipe down the bike so it wasnt dirty. Now Im concerned that all he did was fiddle with the brakes so they felt different and took my $60. There are probably 10 other bike shops in town, someone else is getting my money next time.
Great service with a smile! They helped me pick out a sweet set of tires with reflective walls and were very prompt with tune up on the 2 bikes I brought in.
I had popped two tubes and split a tire on my way to work one morning. I stopped in to Drake Cyclery and they took care of me really quickly and got me back on the road. Thanks Drake Cyclery!
Out Standing Service - Friendly People Quality Work - at a Great Price !!!! Thanks Eric & Joe :-)
Rode 2 miles on a flat with hopes that id make it before close. I was a half mile from road 34. The kids at drake took care of me stupid fast, and with a previous phone call were down to stay slightly after hours to help me out. If youre on the west side of town stop in. Road 34 is a diner not a bike shop.
Fantastic and helpful staff, the only bike shop Ill go to.
Drake cyclery is by far the most laid back shop (but professional in every aspect) shop, the owner Eric is awesome, hell talk your ear off but definitely the friendliest shop owner ive ever met, makes you feel at home whenever youre there. Dropped my bike off over winter break to have basic tune up done, didnt think that when i got back I would be riding a brand new bike, maybe i wasnt but it sure felt like it. Max was the man who tuned it up and I cant get over how smooth it rides, its better than the day I bought it. Thanks Drake Cyclery, I will be referring all my friend to you guys from now on.
I brought my bike in here before many times for repairs, every time they do a bang-up job but on a recent occasion I brought my bike in. Some things were far too rusted to be removed, rather blunt forcing their way through and potentially, they updated me the situation and didnt charge me a dime. Damn decent of them.
Just bought a Breezer hybrid bike here not to long ago and Im super happy with it. This is the kind of place you go for expertise that comes from experience, not the internet. Highly recommended.
They do a good job on bike related services, from basic repairs to full tune-ups. However, they dont have a large stock of bike accessories and usually only have one or two different choices, so comparison shoppers beware!
Fantastic little shop! Friendly staff, great service, and great location. Highly recommend!
Consistently great service, love these guys! I highly recommend Drake Cyclery
The mechanics are knowledgeable and friendly. Love this shop!
Small, but good selection when I needed to replace an old u-lock.
Best bike shop in Ft. Collins. Local, friendly, knowledgeable.
Such a great location to stay has a convenient bus service for getting around town.
Great service, friendly and helpful. Nice selection of new and used bikes.
We got our four bikes here and can recommend the place. The only issue is that it gets busy, because the place is rather small.
Easy good service. Even offers used parts. Thanks!
Excellent Customer Service and Support!
Great service and good, knowledgeable guys.
Favorite shop in town!
Great ski tune for a great price. Thanks Joe.
Good place good people
Great knowledgeable and helpful staff
Always friendly & helpful!
