Snow Mountain River is an excellent place to find gently used outdoor gear. I first got turned on to them by a co-worker when we were hiking outside of Sedona. First time in, I found a Patagonia vest that looked like it had never been worn for only $25. The staff is very friendly and helpful.They also rent skis and repair bicycles.

The best overall, they have so many low price deals. The staff was great. They offer their full-service we can sew it costume dog bags, bike bags, car organizers.

This place is awesome. Tons of great price new and used gear. Rentals and purchase. Has all the stuff I’m into in one spot. I picked up a custom bag made in house! I love it way better quality than big box stores! I will always stop by when passing through!

Loved the place. Loved how they mixed gently used with new but in a way that you really wouldnt notice. Both my husband and I got a lightweight jacket that we are happy with. The weather was much colder than we expected.

Great store in Flagstaff. Consignment items and new gear too. Large selection of camping and paddling items, shoes and hiking apparel. Theyve got a bike repair, skateboard and snowboard parts and service on site too. No negotiations on consignment items though. I was happy to find practically brand new hiking boots ($120-$150 retail) for $60. Very helpful and friendly staff. Theres REI and other big brands in Flagstaff but check out this place first!

Everyone here was so incredibly helpful. I havent ridden a bike in many years and had no idea what I was doing. They let me try out a couple of bikes and even came out to watch and make sure I was getting a bike the right size. They tuned it up for me to make sure it was good. Im really appreciative of the experience.

The staff is very helpful and they are so willing to tell you about the gear and help give any advice you need! They also have a great selection and rotate per the season and sport

Me and a couple of friends had a great time renting here. The store overall has good vibes and the employees get right to helping you with whatever you’re needing to rent. We were in and out in about 5 minutes.

Really surprised. with the location and building i was expecting an over priced vanilla sporting goods store without a niche destined to fail. what i discovered was a world of goodness. the associates there are AWESOME and so very helpful. they have a nice ski and snowboard shop and service that i used and recommend.

This consignment shop has it all. All used used everything is in solid condition and the new stuff is priced competitively. The owner clearly knows his stuff. The staff move pretty quickly, very knowledgeable.

SMR is an awesome little store with excellent products and prices. I went in for a snowboard rental, but fell ill that very night. Unable to make it to the mountain the next day, SMR extended my rental and gave me no grief over the situation. What an incredible customer service experience. Thanks guys!

I am not from around town, and I wanted to snag a board to hit up Snowbowl while I was here. SMR was an incredible place to stop by, and I was helped by a Santo that went above and beyond to help me out. This guy was outgoing, friendly, and just generally cool. Ive worked as a rental tech, and Ive never experienced a faster and easy rental process. Please give this gentleman a raise!If I am ever back with the desire to rent gear, you know I will be stopping here.

Good service and good place to get new items but I feel like the used items are a bit too pricey for their condition.

I went in for a complete kit of cross country skis and ended up getting their new Alpina kit (worth noting as of 1/21/21 there were only two sets of new Alpina skis and likely a delay in SMR getting new stock from the manufacturer, they did still have a decent stock of used skis). The staff was super knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. Ill likely go here first when Im looking to add to my outdoor kit, or if I just have questions about gear.

SMR is definitely the best backcountry shop in Flag... Adam helped me so much setting up a sick set up. Highly recommend

This place is amazing and the customer care here is well done! The employees dug under their whole inventory to find two paddles for my raft and gave me an awesome rental for a single kayak with allowance to bring it back the next day at no additional charge! This is a true Mountain shop with very good used gear and I recommend anyone who hasnt been in there to check it out!

These guys actually SELL some snowboards! Literally went to 8 stores before i found some to buy. The staff was super friendly and the Manager was on duty directing his team and quietly talking about improvements. All staff helped each other. One young man mounted my bindings into the snowboard i just purchases and recommended and installed an upgraded stomp pad also. They of course do rentals! Pick them for sure!!

Because I loved the dog that hangs out there. Not a hard core outdoorsy person, Not also a resell kind of person but, A guy from flagstaff recommended this place, so we went. They have high quality outdoor gears out there. If youre into the outdoors, hiking, camping etc.. its worth a look. SAY HI to the dog who hangs out there who gives a good cuddle! Staff are awesome. Loved this place. Literally has everything. Walked out with a few backpacks at really reasonable prices. Spent an hour looking through so much stuff. Hit or miss with shoes. Was hoping to find some, but mostly smaller sizes for women. Just means when I visit Flagstaff, Ill be back! Friendly staff.

If you ever need bindings mounted on a pair of skis and decide to go to SMR, I hope you also have gas to drive the extra mile to Humphreys Summit because, frankly, theyll treat you better. Despite visiting SMR over a day ago, I am still absolutely flabbergasted and trying to wrap my head around the under-preparedness of the shop. Within one minute of entering the store and asking to have a pair of bindings mounted on my skis, I was told that SMR did not have the required jig to properly mount the bindings. I know for some people this might be a minor inconvenience but in reality not having the proper jig is more hurtful to the business itself.LOOK HERE LISTEN, the bindings I brought in were not an uncommon binding. In fact, they are some of, if not, the most common Alpine/Touring bindings currently on the market. What kind of a ski shop lets themselves be so unprepared to mount bindings when the proper jig could be picked up rather inexpensively? They lost my business because of it, and I am sure they will lose more as Winter rolls around.It appears SMR is only concerned with Mountain and River, and they rather prioritize skateboarding over Snow. Dont be fooled by their name, if you actually need any type of help in regards to skiing equipment, other shops in Flagstaff will probably be able to provide better service.

I was able to rent a snowboard and get in and out with no hassle. Their renting prices are pretty good as well. Staff is very attentive to your needs and will help you with whatever questions or concerns you might have. If your a tourist or just someone looking to get a pair of skis or a board for the day this is the place to go.

I went there to get a new chain put on my old bike. What I received was a new chain, yes, but excellent customer service and folks who care about old bikes. This kind of courtesy is hard to find these days. And...I found out they have most outdoor adventure sports covered in one way or another. Ill definitely be back!

Best outdoor clothing and gear store Ive been to in my short 23 years of living. Owner was more than helpful and was open to answering all the questions I had.. and I had many. Almost too many and he still kept a smile on his face you guys and never made me feel like I was a bother.. wonderful store.

Best outdoor shop Ive been to with incredible prices. Consignment style pricing, so I even got a bigger deal on some items that had taken a while to sell. Feelin set up for the ski season now! Also the cashier/salesperson was awesome. She helped me with all my questions and gave me lots of advice and opinions on what looked nice when I was feeling indecisive. I recommend this place to everyone!

Super awesome shop. Local owner, very involved. Name says it all. You have to check out the giant paddle board! Bike stuff upstairs, snow/mountain stuff downstairs. Whenever I go to Snowbowl I stop here for rentals. They are way easier than the two shops closer to the mountain just because of easy access to the road and parking is plentiful. They are fast, friendly and inexpensive. What else is there? This is my new rental stop in Flagg.

(Downside) if you have them order something they only place orders on They are knowledgeable about a wide verity of things and what one doesn’t know another specializes in!The bike techs are by far the most knowledgeable!They take great care to make every customer happy and make sure each and every customer leaves 100% satisfied!If you are not shopping at snow mountain river... you are doing everything wrong!You won’t be disappointed!Ps. Because of the family at smr... I gave up biking and found my true love in skateboarding!I know own 2 different longboards and a mountain board and I couldn’t be happier!
